[JOYnet] What Won't Be in Heaven ?

2003-04-12 Thread Smiju Joseph
Dear friends,

It is interesting to note what will not be in heaven :

1. No tears, death, suffering, crying, or pain (Revelation 21.4)
2. No church or temple (21.22; the whole place will be the temple of
   God).
3. No sun or moon (21.23; God's love will be the source of light there)
4. No night, no closing of the city gates (21.25)
5. Nothing unworthy (21.27)
6. No more hassles with the devil (20.10; he can't get in there)
7. No sea (21.1; some Bible scholars believe this means we will no
longer be separated from our loved ones)
8. No one who is dirty-minded (21.27)
9. No one who tells lies (21.27)
10. No curse of sin; it will be broken (22.3)
With lots of lov & prayers

[JOYnet] Giving

2003-03-20 Thread Smiju Joseph
Our love for God is shown by how much we give for ourselves and our goods to
his work. Giving for the spread of the Christian faith is a necessary and
joyful habit. We can't take our money to heaven, but we can send it ahead to
God by giving to his work now.

It is good to give, but it's important to keep giving. Sometimes Christians
will get generous and give a one-time gift to a ministry. But how would you
like to live on a series of uncertain, one-time gifts? God is steady in his
giving to us, so we, too, should be steady in our giving to his work.

[JOYnet] Carrying The Cross

2003-03-18 Thread Smiju Joseph
You may be rich. You may be famous. You may be on the top of the world. But
pal, if you're a human being, you still have a cross to bear. It may be a
birth defect, or a physical or mental chalenge, or a disease or psychosis.
For some it may be brokenness from physical, emotional, or sexual abuse. May
be it's a dysfunctional family, poverty, or unemployment.

Whatever it is, each person knows his or her cross, becuase it's usually the
thing we try to run away from. We avoid the pain. But Jesus showed us how to
transform our pain into LIFE: by offering it to God. Jesus asked us to pick
up that cross of pain and follow him. This enables us to grow spiritually so
that we can better serve the needs of others.

Yes, we'll all have crosses. The difference is, a Christian carries the
cross with the help of Christ. And that's how our cross leads us
to...eternal life!

[JOYnet] We're All Called!

2003-01-28 Thread Smiju Joseph
Dear friends,

Did you realize that we're all part of the "holy priesthood" of Christ
because of our baptism? And as part of the broader priesthood, we're all
called to be ministers of Christ to the world. These days, the Church is
using the talents of lay (nonordained) leaders in its mission more than ever
before. Some are teachers or social workers; others are theologians or
writers; still others are Eucharistic ministers or lectors. There are many
vocations in both the ordained and lay areas of life.
What part of this holy ministry are you called to?

Dear JYs
and more especially Smiju who invoked my reply on any one of my experience
connected to the prayer "Lord not mine but thy will be done".

I would like to make this reply as short as possible because its really
difficult to pull out any special moment in my life where the use of this
phrase has really impacted my life largely. Because whenever I have applied
this Prayer to my life the Results have always been wonderful, special and
heart rendering. Take for example just two days ago my brother (who is also
a
joynetter) was working for a shoddy organisation. He was supposed to give
an
interview. We all sought's God's will and prayed. Yesterday he went for the
interview. He cleared in flying colours and will be joining most probably
on
the 23rd.

However, I would like to mention one which has always been dear to me. It
was
the period before my Daddy could expire. When our family entered into the
renewal my daddy thoroughly refused to be a part of it. He had his excuses
including his drinks and his ciggy. It was then in a Prayer Meeting which
we
attended did we hear a preaching on God's Will. It was then my mum and me
decided to submit Daddy and all his bad habits to the Will of God.

In the meantime My father was admitted for a Prostrate Gland Operation.
However during examination in the hospital the Doctors found out that my
dad
had Cancer in the advance Stages and wouldnt be able to last for the week.
I
hadnt even attended a single retreat then. Yet I remember standing outside
that operation theatre with my mother as we prayed the Rosary repeatedly
and
uttering the words "Lord everything will happen as you want it to happen,
we
trust you."

Daddy surived the operation but his bladder was removed. Instead of living
for
one week went on to live for two years beating all the doctors expectation.
In
the meantime our whole family including Daddy got to know more about the
wonderful Lord. After the operation Daddy refused drinks and smoking. And
within one month of the operation started joining our family (we three
brothers + mum) in regular Praise and Worship at home. Those moments will
always be special to us.

For two years Daddy suffered yet in those suffering he would always Praise
and
Thank God. After two years Daddy starting slowing down. He started getting
body aches and starting getting tired regularly. When we finally did a
check
up again we found that Cancer resurfaced. In the meantime we did a checkup
and
found out that this time again Doctors had given up hope. We again now as
family along with Daddy starting praying fervently that God's will be
manifested. However, Daddy's condition kept on detoriating.

We had this sinking feeling that Daddy was soon going to be no more. We
wanted
God to keep him alive. Yet on the other hand we couldnt bear to see Daddy
suffer. In the end that one Line "Lord not mine by thy will be done." was
our
only ultimate prayer.

On May 16, 2000 one day after my Parents 23rd Wedding Anniversary, Daddy
expired at 3.00 am just when my mom was saying the Divine Mercy. When I
look
at those days when the doctors had given Daddy only 1 week to live and yet
Daddy lived for 2 years, accepted the Jesus as his lord and saviour
somethig
which he never did for 56 years - It really cemented my belief in "THE WILL
OF
GOD".

Lord, I do not know what to ask of You.
You know what I need.
You love me better than I know how to love myself.
O Heavenly Father, give to me what I know not how to ask or dare not ask.
I open my heart to You.
Take my needs and do according to Your mercy.
Do with me what You will.
I will be silent. I offer myself to You.
I accept Your will. Lord, teach me how to pray. Amen.

Re: [JOYnet] Praying for others -- nice sharing from anitha

2003-01-08 Thread Smiju Joseph
Hi friends,
Life sharing always have the power to change lives. That's why we are called
living Gospels. It was a nice sharing from anitha. Let us give her an
'e-clap' :).

As anitha said it is very easy to begin something. But slowly we loose the
fire in us and we will soon escape from that particular initiative which is
started by us. I have such experience in my life. Once, Sam-our sevice team
member-said :"Smiju, It is very easy to do a thing once or thrice in the
name of Jesus. I will never say it is a commitment. If you can do it
regularly with same burning that you had in the begining... I will say that
is commitment." But still I fail to do as Sam said. But I am trying. And I
hear another voice from Jesus "Keep trying Smiju... Keep trying".

Dear friends,

Reading the mail sent by Jason, brought back a few
memories of the time when i was in mangalore, studying
for nursing, while staying in a hostel.

We had a wonderful cell group, where we used to gather
everyday for some personal sharings, but mainly for
intercessory prayer. Each time we knew, someone was
in need, or any of their family members was in need,
we used to sit before the Lord, pleading for his
intervention. We had made a daily habit of this and
thought nohing much about it; but one thing was
certain, whether there was a test or a exam or any
other difficulty we never failed to gather and
interceed.
This went on wonderfully for about three and a half
years, and we never failed to see the results. Each
time we prayed for someone, we also saw our prayers
being answered; and it was a encouragement for us to
go on...
But..
that is when satan entered on the scene,
very soon we were no longer students, but interns, who
worked in all shift dutys, and we slowly found it
difficult to gather, we found so many excuses for
which we could not gather, we managed to drag on for
some time, but very soon our cell intercessory group,
for which new members were being added daily, suddenly
came to a halt. we stopped gathering altogether.

Then came a day when one of our group members, went to
attend a retreat. During the counselling section, as
the counsellor was laying hands and praying for her,
suddenly he seemed disturbed and asked this girl,
"friend why did your intercessory group stop? Why are
your eyes blinded< can you not see that God was well
pleased with your group and was working wonders among
you? why then did you stop?"
Well!this was it; my friend just burst into tears on
hearing this, and came back and shared the experence
with us, leaving us all stunned and ashamed of
ourselves, It was then we made a commitment to start
all over again. Even when we had shift dutys and all
were not availabe, still the group continued..
and continued till we finally left the hostel

[JOYnet] Cry of the World

2003-01-05 Thread Smiju Joseph
Dear Friends,

Centuries before (BC 587) they wrote :-

Those who used to eat only the best,
now lie dying in the streets;
those who were reared in the purple
claw at the rubbish heaps

for the wickedness of the daughter of my people
exceeded the sins of Sodom,
which was overthrown in a moment
without a hand being laid on it.

Once her young people were brighter than snow,
whiter than milk;
rosier than coral their bodies,
their hue like sapphire.

Now their faces are blacker than soot,
they are not recognised in the streets,
the skin has shrunk over their bones,
as dry as a stick.
- Lamentations. 4: 5-8

I feel this today.
When I look around this world, I am forced to write another laments for this
AD 2003.
World need our prayers. We are responsible to help the world to repent.

[JOYnet] Pain of expatriates

2003-01-04 Thread Smiju Joseph
Hi friends,
Smitha was sharing this stories: A patient was admitted in her ward, it was
a suicide attempt. He is recovering and he said his story, he came from
India by an agency which appointed him in this gulf area (for certain
reasons I am not mentioning the country and the patients details). Like all
other expatriates he also had dreams... dreams about his future, and when he
arrived to his fortune land he thought his dream is fulfilled. He was
working in a rural area as a shepherd. Where his salary is Rs. 3500/-
(S72.00). But soon he realised he came there just to die. For months he was
not paid. Daily he got a piece of bread and a cup of water, sometimes his
boss forgot to give food. His life was harder than a slave. He begged to his
boss for salary. His cry, nobody to hear. The hot desert wind wiped out his
tears. At last he took the knife for a simple deed.
Just to cut his throat. He is now recovering soon. Pray for him.

This is the story of a 20 years old Asian girl who is admitted to ICU. She
was working as a servant. She was raped by her boss's son and when she
resisted she was hit by an iron rod on her back head. After the surgery she
is recovering, but partially she is paralyzed. It will take at least one
year for recovery.

This is another story of a young nurse. She came to Arabian Gulf to earn
some money and to help her parents. She was well educated and was efficient.
One day by her mistake a patient died. She was arrested. They cut her both
hands and sent her back to India. She was from Kerala. She was admitted in
Delhi. Previous week she was discharged and was traveling to Kerala. On the
way she jumped out from the train and dead.

Please pray for all people who are suffering all over the world.

with prayers

[JOYnet] Re: Gospel - truth or lie?

2002-12-07 Thread Smiju Joseph
My loving friends,

I was just reading all, nice sharing. It is some what easy to preach Gospel
to strangers. But it is not at all easy to preach Gospel in his/her own
nearer circles, because that is the place were the preacher should practice
his/her words.

Disciples learned and practiced lot of things from Jesus Christ.
Disciples' had followers - they learned about Jesus, and practiced lot of
things from disciples.
They wrote Gospel...
they converted the entire universe in one day...
they sacrificed there life...
they preached Gospel to animals & birds

We learn more and more about Jesus & his disciples, we study about saints
and we wonder about 'Ancient Christianity'. We attend Evangelization course.
We write thesis about Jesus that the people can't understand and we forget
to love and we hide the Word of God in The Bible.

But some people are different and we always learn from them. We know who
they are. They are the living Gospels. I am not speaking about someone like
Mother Teresa I am speaking about the silent saints who are with us. May be
mother, may be father... may be that unknown friend may be that
priest... the list goes on, but only few. If we are like them it easy to
preach The Gospel.

After several decades a grandma will tell her grandchildren stories about
JYs.
(I dream so).
"Once upon a time there lived a Jesus Youth, he/she did lot of miracle
and was killed.(or he long lived for Jesus)."
And children will go to bed.

What the next generation learn from me?

[JOYnet] The true "high"

2002-05-29 Thread Smiju Joseph

GBU
My loving friends,

Some people try to get "high" by getting drunk or taking drugs. That is a
false and harmful "high". But the truest and greatest "high" is anyone can
have is to be filled with the Spirit of God himself.

"Don't destroy yourself by getting drunk, but let the Spirit fill your
life." - Ephesians 5:18.

[JOYnet] A theft by little smiju

2002-04-25 Thread Smiju Joseph

That was a theft which ended in hours. Now when I think about that incident
I like to thank my Ammachi (mother) very much.

It happened when I was studying in 4th Standard. At that time like most of
the children I too was crazy about playing with tops. It was always a wonder
for me to see the rotation of the top. For me it was very difficult to make
it rotating with a single thin thread still I don't know how to do that. My
friends were expert in it. So when I saw that automatic top in my tuition
teacher’s home my eyes stuck there. I was being restless until I did that
great theft.
Then showed it to friends proudly. It rotated more than they imagined. Soon
I became the hero among them.
But the happiness doesn’t last long. Ammachi (mother) noticed that her son
playing with a new kind of toy. She easily identified the new item because
she knew what toys I have. She knew that her son did something wrong. Soon
investigation started. I tried to protect myself with a charming smile, but
soon failed.

I said lies “One friend gave”
“Which friend, call him, I would like to talk to him.”
“He is not here, he went to mother’s home”
“What?”
“………”

I said around 20-30 lies within minutes. At last the truth came out when I
felt the tip of the cane on my thigh. The truth stood over all the lies.
The punishment was to return the top back to the teacher and say sorry. Oh!
God it was very difficult for me.

“You should come with me” my request to mother.
“ Me?… No!.. Nobody will come with you. You did it and you alone should go
there and I want you to do it now.”

It was not at all easy for me. My feet didn’t move an inch. When I looked
back I saw my mother’s glowing eyes. So I managed to walk to my tuition
teacher’s House. On those hours I was very angry at ammachi.

What to do? No idea!
Go back to home? No!
Run away? Oh! No I can’t do that.
While this internal struggle my Guardian Angel helped me to reach near
tuition teacher.

I said nothing just wept She said “No problem, don’t repeat it any were”.
Oh! Great relaxation. It was my first theft and was my last.

Back in home my mother asked what I did. I said that I met my teacher. She
confirmed it with the teacher then sat with me loved and said, “Jesus
doesn’t like it. Don’t repeat it. Promise me.”

Mothers and even a tuition teacher can do more in a child’s character
formation. In my case she made me aware of my sin, helped me to solve the
problem myself. She kept watching me until the end of that incident and made
sure that her son corrected his path. More than that she kept praying.

But the main part is that what decision the child takes in the critical
situations in his life. We cannot predict. It depends upon how parents
handle the situation. Just allow him to do it alone and pray… always pray
for him, keep watching, correct him on right time and make sure that he
corrected his path, make him aware of the sin he did. And God will take care
of him. That’s what my mother did.

Now I know Jesus helped me to take the decision to go and meet the tuition
teacher.
Now I can say only one thing about mother “A woman build with love, for
love.”

Re: [JOYnet] Dowry

2001-12-07 Thread Smiju Joseph

God is with you all.

I read the mails regarding Dowry. I am not saying
Dowry is good. If God allows me to marry a girl, sure
I won't ask for Dowry.
That's good if we stop Dowry. Aftwards what will
happen to the girls who are not so beatiful? Most of
the guys like to marry beatiful girls! then girls'
parents has no other choice, they will offer dowry.

If the girl is beautiful and rich, dowry is a prestige
issue.

If the girl is not beautiful and is rich, dowry helps
the parents to buy the guy.

If the girl is beautiful and poor, chances are more
for a good family. Lots of JY guys are searching such
girls.

If the girl is not beautiful and is poor, I don't know
what will be her future. God will help her.

[JOYnet] I broke his hands but he broke my...

2001-11-29 Thread Smiju Joseph

God bless you all.
>From my life...

When I broke his hands?

If my recollection is correct it happened when I was
studying in 8th or 9th Standard. I always remember
Agnes teacher, whenever I remember St. Albert's H.S.
because she loved us and then she taught us. She was
the head of our class.

It was the time of 'Youth Festival'. We a group of
students joined in Speech Competition. Among them he
was there - Jeffry - from an Anglo-Indian family, he
was so wonderful, very active, from another division
of same Standard. We all were in such a happy mood. We
all were practicing speech in a 'Youthful way'. Some
under the desk, some on the desk, some on teacher's
table... jumping, dancing & laughing while referring
the subject for speech. Jeffry was standing on the
desk. He acted like a politician who speaks to his
followers. To make everybody laugh I simply shook the
desk. I just tried to frighten him, but what happened
is he fell down from the desk. He didn't cry. He
painfully said "Oh! My stomach" then he said "My hands
are also in pain". Everybody thought another joke, but
soon the scene changed. Teachers came, and as I was a
coward I ran away, worrying what happened to Jeffry.

Later I came to know that both of his hands are
fractured and around two months I put him in difficult
situation, he missed that joyfull youth festival,
classes, weekend exam etc..

The more painful matter was nobody in school
questioned or punished me for that incident. His
parents never came searching me. I was waiting for a
punishment from my teachers. Evening when all the
student left to there home, I was afraid that may be
his parents waiting for me at the gate. But nothing
happened as I afraid. Afterwards we never met face to
face, I think so. It is time to leave school. We
finished our school life in 1990. All of us left
school, all scattered here and there, college years
passed very soon.

I joined in Don Bosco ITC. There I met my old friend
again. He greeted me with a warm smile. He came there
at Don Bosco Youth Centre. Most evenings he came there
because he lived nearby. We talked a lot and on the
way I said to friends "I am the person who broke his
hands". He laughed and said, "Yes". I asked him "why
nobody caught me?" "Even your parents didn't come
searching me!" He smiled and said that he was not at
all angry with me, so informed nothing to teachers.
His parents were ready to catch me, but he discouraged
them. I got answers for the questions, which I asked
years before. I was silent for a while. How kind he
is!

"We will see later..." did words came out properly? I
don't think so. Very soon I was in chapel. I raised
eyes and looked my Jesus. I didn't saw him there
because my eyes... full of tears. I felt hot tears
running out... then I saw Jesus clearer than ever.

I broke his hands...but he broke my heart.
He said nothing, but he taught me lot.

2001-11-21 Thread Smiju Joseph

God bless you all.

I don't know much about 'Familia'.
First I thought, may be a well known person to Suresh.
At the same time just recalled my knowledge on Saints,
no! I don't remember a St. Familia.
Now a days most of our sister's name is... Str.
Engalandeena, Str. Americana, Str. Velveta, Str.
Georjeta... etc. etc. so nothing wrong in doubting
that there may a be 'St. Familia. ha ha ha.

So, my friends you all are waiting for 'Familia'? That
is nice.
But don't forget to share our self, listen to others,
pray for others. I think this all are the basic
activities of Joynet, rest of the things are build up
on this 'Strong Stones'. So as a Joynetter never
forget this basic structers.

it will be difficult for couples. But St. Paul teaches
it very well. (1 Cor : 7, 1-40)

doctorines and theories are wrong or all are right.
Where is the truth?

I don't know. As catholics, we are responsible to
obey her teachings either we like or dislike. So do
what church says. May be we feel it is foolishness.
But don't forgot our God is the God who can mold
foolish to the most wise. He knows very well when to
send a child to earth than anybody else in the world!

[JOYnet] Labour Police, Truth and Jesus :)

2001-09-30 Thread Smiju Joseph

My friends, God bless you all.
And peace with you.

It was a pleasant, day. Morning onwards my tongue was
praising Jesus, with songs. I was so happy and felt
HIS presence.
"You can buy a ticket to Paris

Jesus gives the ticket to heavenly home." (Hector
taught us this song)

"Smiju, why are you so happy?"
"I don't know." was preparing quotation for my
customers.

In our company only two (me and Mr. Shanavas) have the
company visa. Others visa is under process. And it is
illegal to work without company visa. If labor police
caught, that is more than enough to cancel visa,
sentence to jail and deport from UAE. And they can
even close company.

One more quotation to finish. When I looked up, two
Arabs were standing in front of the door, I wondered
from were they came. I greeted and suddenly my smile
vanished because I recognized one of them. I know him
before and I know he is labour police. Everything
finished!!!

I told him "Sir These ladies are studying here".
He shouted "You shut up...!!!"
For a few seconds I felt there was no tongue in my
mouth.
He counted us. "All off you working here?". We were
total five.
My engineer (Mr. Milad) said: "No, I came here to buy
computer!!!"
All were frightened.

And suddenly Shanavas prepared Bill for him and gave
Mother Board, Processor etc., and our engineer acted
as customer.

Yes. It was a beautiful drama. How wonderfully they
acted. I was wondering about their talent. May be
police were also wondering about that. Laugh came, how
could I laugh infront of a police officer!!!

Any way the 'play' was a very big flop! But the
officers had the patience to watch it till the end,
with a sympathetic smile.

Mr. Milad turned to go.
"You are not going any where! You will come with me"
Officer was angry to Milad, and other officer took all
our 'pathakka' (ID Card) and started writing in his
statement book. "Tell the truth, otherwise you all
will be in Jail" other officer said.

"It is first time I ever saw a grocery sales man
wearing tie!, and in official dress. You cheat. Tell
the truth, otherwise!" Officer commented.

Mr. Milads ID card was off a Grocery shop, because the
shop is his father's. But he is a Microsoft Certified
System Engineer.

He was not willing to say truth.

Up to that time I was silent, and was trying to please
officers. But suddenly some sort of strength came into
me and I started telling the truth. "Smiju don't tell
the truth, if so, sure they will catch us", Milad said
in Malayalam. I praised my Jesus and started telling
the whole story. How Milad came, why we appointed him,
how much we pay, how long he is with us etc.

But the police officer was busy completing his
statement. I thought he was not even listening to me.

Finished!!! No chance at all. Only thing is left is...
just go with them.
My heart beats sounded like a 'motor boat'. "Jesus,
why you left me alone?"

Suddenly I heard something and looked at the Police
officer. He was tearing the statement from his book
and tore it again into pieces.

Everybody wondering, what's going on! He handed the
paper pieces to me and said. "Next time don't repeat,
take back all your ID Cards (Pathakka)". And they
left.

You cannot imagine our happiness, that much we were
happy.

I thanked my Jesus in front of my colleagues. I
thanked him very much.

When I shared this with my friends.
"They said impossible things happened today".

Nothing impossible for my Jesus Christ.

[JOYnet] How to love this terrorists ?

2001-09-16 Thread Smiju Joseph

God bless you all.

Hi friends,
Mathew asked as all to pray for America and for the
terrorists.

Ya! it was a nice idea and that day itself I prayed.

For America I prayed with utter consentration and with
my full strength.
For terrorists I prayed, but my heart was vacant.
Something I said to God, but my heart was away from it
all. Why ?

I searched for answer and concluded in to a point.

For me it is somewhat easy to love my enemies and is
easy to pray for them.
But it is not easy to love or pray for my friend's
enemy. It is easy to say, but practicaly it is
difficult for me pray for this terrorists. I can pray
for them, but not from my heart. I know it is my
negative side. If somebody can help me, please share.

[JOYnet] How the angels look like ?

2001-09-08 Thread Smiju Joseph

God loves you very much my friend.

Hello my loving friend... Don't stare... I called you
only... you are my loving friend... now one
question... Do you know how the angels look like ?

When I talk with Jennifer she gave me some good input
and understood her toughts are nice. So I like to mail
this to you.

Angels look like...

Like the little old lady who returned your wallet
yesterday.

Like the taxi driver who told you that your eyes light
up the world when you smile.

Like the small child who showed you the wonder in
simple things.

Like the poor man who offered to share what he had
with you.

Like the rich man who showed you that it really is all
possible, if you believe.

Like the stranger who just happened to come along when
you had lost your way.

Like the friend who touched your heart, when you
didn't think you had one.

Angels come in all sizes and shapes, all ages and skin
colors.
Some with freckles, some with dimples, some with
wrinkles, some without.
They come disguised as friends, enemies, teachers,
students, lovers and fools.

They don't take life too seriously, they travel light.

They leave no forwarding address, they ask nothing in
return.

They are hard to find when your eyes are closed, but
when you choose to see, they are everywhere you look.

So open your eyes and count all your Angels...

You will find you are truly blessed!

- Author Unknown

O, my unknown author you are blessed, becuase you
touched my heart with your words!

[JOYnet] Yes. I am a Jesus Youth !

2001-08-30 Thread Smiju Joseph

Thanks a lot my friends for ur sharings. I was just
analyzing myself and found still struggling to become,
a Jesus Youth like you.

Yes, I am a Jesus Youth.
If I say something about my past parish life it is
like this
I born in C.L.C. (Christian Life Community) grownup in
K.C.Y.M. (Kerala Catholic Youth Movement) and living
in JY (Jesus Youth). As a Jesus Youth I don't have
much experience.

When I was a boy I used to watch Shelton Pinheiro's
(Rexband) father (Sunny Brother) and a few youths
gathering in 'Sneha Nilayam' convent opposite to our
church. People called them 'Jesus Youth'. After his
death I don't know what happened to that gathering.
They did 'small' services in our parish, we C.L.C.
members laughed at them, because we did 'big' things
for church. And parish priest was so happy with us.
Easter, Christmas, making Cribs in church for all
those activities we youngsters were there. We were
willing to do anything for church (not for Jesus). We
had a competitive mentality with all other youth
movements.

Those days I didn't like a single JY.
We all thought "Oooo.! JYs...? they lazy people,
want to waste time by praying. Praise and Worship ?
What's that? Crazy People!! It is only a way to escape
from their duty towards church. If there is anything
to do, first one hour they will waste by praying &
praising. What kind of kingdom they are going to make?
My thoughts and talks was this way.

That was not only the matter to dislike JYs;
I knew only little about Jys, because Jesus Youth was
inactive in our parish (I think parish priest stopped
it b'coz he disliked more than two youth movements in
our parish).

I noticed that most of the JYs in my college have good
canvas shoes, very attractive shirts, modern
hairstyle, most of the time speaking English, Singing
English songs and they says they live for Jesus
Christ! How? Why can't they speak 'Malayalam' (Kerala
Language), How they live for Jesus Christ?. Although I
attended college prayers I couldn't understand and
couldn't accept them. And saw it as a top-level
community of rich and educated people. I think it was
because of my inferiority complex. According to my
concept a person living for Jesus should not wear
fashionable dresses, I had my own reasons for such
thoughts.

Other thing was... If I say the fact... I had a little
fear to go to St. Teresa's College (Women's college)
most of the gatherings were there. They also might be
feared to come to St. Albert's College (Men's
college). Now I don't know how it is.

One day when I spoke to Shelton, he told me about his
fulltimer commitment. I heard about lot of 'timers',
What is this full'timer' ? I said myself, "Crazy
people... and thought he have money in his home so no
problem to wander here and there" (forgive me
Shelton). We KCYM (Kerala Catholic Youth Movement) in
our parish thought like that. Later most of the KCYM
members attended 'Muringoore Retreat' and came back.

It was a great change! We were KCYM members but
unknowingly we became Jesus Youths with out the label
of Jesus Youth!. Still I remember the night on which
my friend Babu, (KCYM secretary of that time) shared
his retreat experience, how Jesus touched him and all.
>From there I smelled the difference between a 'normal
Christian' and a 'real Christian' But my spiritual
change started when I came to UAE. Oh! Those days in
'Sharja' I don't like to recall it. Jesus refined
me, placed me in Abu Dhabi and slowly, very slowly he
inserted me into the JY gathering and to Joynet.

There I met a wonderful community who heard me, gave
advices, I was a stranger to them, but they loved me.
and prayed for me helped me, gives support to grow in
Jesus and more... That's Jesus Youth for me.

Whenever I have problems with sufferings I will call
my cell members. Sometimes I can't reach them... then
... then just login. Lots of invisible friends, they
are waiting for me with touching stories, life
sharing, and ready to listen to me, and more..., That
is Joynet for me.

Now, I can feel and understand what Shelton's father
and his youths did in our Parish.
Now, I really believe my friend Babu met Jesus face to
face.
Now, I understood the value of one year full-timer
commitment. Special thanks to Priya Joy.
Studying how to be cheerful, Thanks to Mathew & James
(Abu Dhabi).
Studied how to reply fast. Thanks to Welchy.
Studying How to love. Thanks to Julius (prayer patner)
I studied, to do fact and to say fact (still I have
some problem). Thanks to Darly Brother.
And realizing the meaning of Love.

All of you are there...
Personally you all touched me and still touching, I
have a list. I know what element of you touched me. If
I write name by name it will be too long. Even your
names make me to Praise God. I don't know how it
happens?!!

Yes, I started to grow up as a Jesus Youth. Never
willing to go back. Oh! Jesus, help me.

Transformation still continuing.

[JOYnet] Audio Visual - and a little body pain

2001-08-13 Thread Smiju Joseph

God bless you my loving friends,

Previous two weeks where wonderful for all UAE Audio
Visual Members. Mr. Leo Thadevoose from Ernakulam was
with us. He came here from Italy after his studies
about theatres. Very talented artist. It was really
wonderful experience for all of us.

It was Thursday when we started Audio Visual workshop
with him. All UAE Audio Visual members came to Dubai
St. Mary's Church.

When he started talking I took a pen and a book to
take notes, soon I understood there was nothing to
write but only to do. Most of the subjects were
practical. It was very interesting to jump, run and
swim in the floor as per his instruction.

The difficult, but interesting session was a kind of
exercise. When he says "Take the boat mmm...
rrmmm..rmm" we should lay down on back and should swim
without touching hand and legs on ground, next was
taking the boat. It is same as the action of 'rowing'
with a 'wosh' sound this also we should do without
touching the ground (most of the time there was no
action, only sound came out from me). Then stretching
hand and legs without touching ground. Oh! God... at
the end of the exercise most of us fell down with a
'Duum' sound!!.

After that when ever he make 'mmm... rrmmm.. rmm"
sound, we shout "N!!!". But we did it again
and again.

Next subject was about focusing on imaginary objects,
concentrating on moving objects, creating impulse on
body, illusion, impressionism etc. This all needs lot
of physical exercise. It was very interesting to
praise Jesus while dancing, jumping and while
stretching our body.

One night and a full day we were with him and very
interesting to be with him. When we came back to Abu
Dhabi we was talking about this wonderful person also
we shared each other how to over come the join pain
and was thinking about different kind of 'Pain Balms'
:) and hot salt water.

Next day when I came to office (I was not able to walk
properly) Shanavas asked, "What happened... Kerala
Police caught you ? (UAE police is far better).

I said "No... One Mr. Leo caught me" then I explained
about our audiovisual programs.
When I called Jacob (Dubai) he said not much... but
have little join pain :) I guess most of the JYs r in
bed rest:)

Mr. Leo visited almost all provinces (emirates) and
conducted audiovisual programs. Previous days he was
in Abu Dhabi. Taught us creative thinking, developing
ideas narrative story and more...

And, 12th August his birthday. Birthday wishes from
UAE JY's

Thank you Mr. Leo for visiting us and teaching us a
lot. And your family is waiting for you in India for
long four months Safe journey.

We will remember you always.
Still my joins have pain... I will remember you
always... especially whenever I have join pain:)

With lots of lov & prayers

E) Jesus will love them, He will kiss them and they
will find the glow of love in his eyes at that time
people will forget to drink, eat etc. and only they
are intrested to hear from him. When they finish the
party they all will have the glow of love in their

and they will find the glow of love. and the
outsiders will... it will continue...

[JOYnet] Drinking - From my life

2001-08-01 Thread Smiju Joseph

God bless you all.

Dear friends,

There were five girls in a family and no brothers.
They were very poor. When rain comes, the rooms are
filled with water. The room floor was furnished not
with cement... it was with cow don. Their father was a
tailor, an ex-military, very loving. People call him
'Ashaan' and as most of the ex-service man he was also
an addict to alcohol. Their mother sometimes makes
brooms and 'shades' from coconut leaves and earns
money. She was a strong follower of Jesus and lead her
five girls in that way. Some times they walked from
'Mamangalam' to 'High Court' to attend Holy Mass. Most
of the days their father drunk too much before closing
shop and coming home, sometimes somebody helped him to
come. They wait for him to get money to buy rice to
make 'kanji', (forget about 'curry' they didn't even
dreamed about it) but most of the days they don't get
money from him and slept with empty stomach, if they
got also it was not enough to feed all the five. So
the eldest girl and her mother had no food for days.
He spoiled whole money by drinking brandy and last he
sold his shop. But with God's grace now they all are
married. The eldest one is Rosey Varghese and now she
is Mrs. Rosey Antony.

Her son started drinking when he was teen.
Unfortunately he got the first 'cheers' from christian
life community members (C.L.C.). He never wend home
after drinking. So she never recognised it.

One day night her son drank 'Vodka' and came home.
With previous experiences she quickly found that her
son drank. Next day morning she told her above story
with tears. I said "Ammachi... I will never do this
again". A small hug and a kiss changed my life. (It is
long story. I made it short).

How can I say drinking alcohol is good even if it is
only moderate? I have more to share about this from my
life... about my friend who is killed. About my uncle
whose liver is like a mosquito net and more... But I
am not interested to write, this all will put me in
tears. God bless you all.

With lots of lov & prayers

Re: [JOYnet] Drinking - reply to Christine's mail

2001-07-30 Thread Smiju Joseph

Dear Christine

I don't know I am right or wrong. If it is wrong
excuse me. Comming to the point. It felt me like that
u wrote this mail to justify something:) I don't know
what it is.
Do you know one thing.. if we argue on this subject we
will never get into a conclusion. Yes, we can find
words from bible which supports and objects drinking.

Just we should ask a simple question. Which is good
drinking alcohol or not drinking ? (It should be 'Yes'
or 'No' no other statements) and the other one is what
moral we give to the society by drinking ?
find the answer.

[JOYnet] drinking alcohol - reply to Biju's mail

2001-07-30 Thread Smiju Joseph

God bless you all.
Biju God is with you.

Dear Biju,
This mail will be usefull to everybody so I sent this
to Joynet. Once I wrote this same to JYnet that's why
I was not interested to write it again now read this
again, from Proverbs :

Who is always in trouble ?
Who argues and fights?
Who has cuts and bruises?
Whose eyes are red?
Everyone who stays up late,
having just one more drink.
Don't even look
at that colorful stuff
bubling up in the glass!
It goes down so easily,
but later it bites
like a poisonous snake.
You will see weird things,
and your mind
will play tricks on you.
You will feel tossed about
like someone trying to sleep
on a ship in a storm.
You will be bruised all over,
without even remembering
how it all happened.
And you will lie awake asking,
"When will morning come,
so I can drink some more?"
   - Proverbs 23.29

I think this is enough. Thanks Biju for sending me a
nice mail:)

[JOYnet] Storms of Life

2001-07-29 Thread Smiju Joseph

God is with you all.

My dear friends,

It is impossible to avoid the storms of life. A death
in the family. A friend's suicide. A miscarriage or
stillbirth. Terminal diseases. A paralyzing accident.
Unemployment. Broken relationships. An obusive home
life. Trouble in school. We get hurt. We're shocked!
We panic. We stress out.

The appostles did the same thing and Jesus was right
there, sleeping through it all. Yeah, sometimes it
seems like God is sleeping right through our difficult
times - like we've been abondoned. But then Jesus
arises and stretches out his powerful hands, and the
storm passes.

Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to help us keep our boat on
course. And when we think we're drowning, we have to
remember that he's there to calm the storm.

[JOYnet] Taxi Driver

2001-07-29 Thread Smiju Joseph

I studied two good manners from my JY cell which I
always use in taxi. First one is when entering into
taxi I greet the driver (most from Pakistan) and
asking him 'How are you brother?' (in Urudu) and
second one while getting out I say 'God bless you' to
the taxi driver and I always tried to sit in friend
seat so he can get a friendly feeling.

It gives me pleasure when I am alone with my God in my
church. Simply staring at crucified Jesus... thinking
of his love... speaking to Jesus in Blessed Sacrament.
At this particular time he teaches me simple prayers.

That day Jesus taught me a new prayer. "Jesus... teach
me your love." When I walked, each foot of mine
printed on the ground... "Jesus... teach me your
love." When I got into taxi my soul repeated "Jesus..
teach me your love." After greeting and all I kept my
mouth shut because I concentrated in the prayer.
Suddenly the driver (Pakistani) asked: "You Christian
?"
"Yes"
"You from Kerala ?"
"Yes". A little disturbance to my prayers. So I turned
my face from the driver and looked outside.
"hmm.. your 'urudu' is not good"
I kept silence.
"In Kerala muslims are more ?"
"No. Most of them are Hindus, then muslims and then
Christians"
"Which religion is good? Muslim or Christian or Hindu
?".
Oh! God. He is trying to trap me. Because most of the
conversations with a Pakistani ends in an argument.
What should I say to this 'Pattani'?.
Last I said : "According to me Christianity is the
best" without looking into his face.
While waiting for his response I increased the speed
of my prayers. But he was in silence.
Then the next question came with a difference.
"Do you know what this is ?"
This time I turned my head to see what was in his
hand.
It was a small locket. When I looked again I saw
picture of Jesus Christ in it. I looked at him in
wonder.
Then he took a beautiful blue rosary and showed me. I
didn't believe him. I thought that someone missed it
in the taxi.
"Whose this all?" I asked.
"Whose this Taxi ?" He asked me.
"It is yours". I said
"Then ?"
"Are you Christian?"
"I don't know who I am? But one thing I know... I love
Jesus and Mary very very much"
Now it was interesting to talk to him.
When I came back to office I was filled with spirit.
Was in tears.
And that is the way Ali -the taxi driver taught me how
to love Jesus again and again with my full strength.

Praise Jesus. Praise Our Lord Our God.

Re: [JOYnet] drinking alcohol

2001-07-29 Thread Smiju Joseph

God is with you all.

Our Lukas wrote : excess use of alcohol is sin.

Do it mean that a little use of alcohol is not a sin ?

Which is better, Using alcohol a little or totaly
avoiding it ?

I think that we cannot compare excess use of alcohol
with excess use of food. In the case of excess use of
alcohol we cannot predict what a person is goint to
do. Am I right Mr. Lukas ?

There are people who agrees and disagrees with the
usage of alcohol. The world is like that! And we all
are the light of the world.
Tomarrow nobody should say that I saw one Joynetter
drinking there so I drank this full bottle. And we
won't get a single chance to advice him.

Live with the word of God. We are the light of the
world. We are in the world but not from of the world.

God bless you all.

[JOYnet] "What's So Special About Mary?"

2001-07-15 Thread Smiju Joseph

God bless you.

My dear friends,

"What's So Special About Mary?"

Just read this...

John : So why is the Virgin Mary so special of all the
saints?

Paul : Because her "yes" to God was the beginning of
our salvation, the moment the Holy Spirit conceived
Jesus in Mary's womb. Jesus took his humanity from
Mary. Mary was his mother. He obeyed her. He loved
her. And she loved him more than anyone else ever
loved him. (Generally, who loves a child more than his
own mother?).

John : Are you saying that Mary was closer to Jesus
than anyone else?

Paul : Absolutely. As the mother of Jesus (Mary
conceived Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit), Mary
was more united to God than anyone who has ever lived.
Not even Moses had this kind of relationship with God.
He carried God's Commandments on stone tablets. Mary
carried the author of those Commandments in her womb!
Moses obeyed God. But in the little home in Nazareth,
the Son of God obeyed his mother Mary!
And then, don't forget that Jesus entrusted John and
all of us to Mary as he was dying on the cross.

John : But God is God, and Mary is just a creature.

Paul : That's right, she is only a creature, and
anyone who says Mary is anything more than a creature
is committing idolatry. But nonetheless, some of God's
creatures become more united to God than others, and
Mary united herself completely to God. That unity with
God makes her prayers especially powerful. Remember
the Wedding at Cana (John 2.1-11)? They ran out of
wine, and Mary asked Jesus for a miracle. Even though
he resisted at first, he changed the water into wine
because his mother had asked him to help.
In heaven, Mary still asks Jesus to help us in many
ways, and Jesus says "yes" to his mother like any good
son would.

John : Well, does all this mean that I should always
pray to the saints, and never to God?

Paul : Of course not! You should always pray directly
to God. And then you should also ask others on earth
and the saints in heaven to pray for you as well. All
of those prayers are ultimately directed to God, who
alone holds the power to answer them.

[JOYnet] An Angel Walking In The Rain!!!

2001-07-09 Thread Smiju Joseph

An Angel walking in the rain!!!
  ---

My loving friends,

Thanks for your prayers.
Really I had a starting trouble in this particular
matter... all I like to write about is, how a
joynetter helped my family and me... mainly my sister.

I think you know that I am in Abu Dhabi and my family
is far away from me.

2 weeks before I was chatting with my family thru
phone, I was in a happy mood, my mother said me my
sister have some problem in ovary and may she under go
surgery. My father said it in one way and my mother
said it in another way. The news disturbed me too much
and left more doubts and confusions. Actually what
happened to my sister? On the other end mother said
nothing to worry... I said I am OK... but I was really
worried. Whole night with tears I prayed to Mother
Mary.

Do you know why most of the people are coming to Arab
Countries? Off course, to make money... may be to
build good house or to earn money for their kids or
for sister's marriage.

I felt my dreams about my sister vanished thru my
tears. For hours only darkness filled my eyes. At last
I surrendered to Jesus. Jesus! I beg your kindness,
every thing should happen as per your wish. My cell
members started praying. Jesus youth started praying.
How can I know what is the actual situation of my
sister.

2 days later while I was praying, one name came into
me. It was the name of a person who was an active
member JoyNet. I am from Ernakulam, Kerala and this
person was also from Ernakulam so I thought it is easy
to her to meet my sister. I knew she is busy, but I
requested to my unseen JoyNet friend to help me, to
know the real situation of my sister. She agreed and
she took address and phone number from me. Later one
mail came to me... "Smiju... I called your mother, I
talked with your sister... they are so... so!!!... I
will go and meet them".

I was so happy... an unseen girl at the other end
helping unseen Smiju. It is only because she loves my
Jesus very much and ready to do any thing for Him. And
another mail came on St. Thomas Day evening: "Smiju...
I went to your home... a surprise visit. I saw your
sister... your mother... nothing to worry about your
sister. She is ok. Your mother is so loving (Yes. I
know really she is) She gave me 'kappa and tea'... It
was really nice...(Note :- It is now the third year
for me away from my mother... really I forgot the
taste of her tea)... letter continues like that and it
is filled with love and joy. They prayed together. She
prayed for my sister Smitha. The whole evening she was
with my family. When she left my house... It was dark
and rainy. Away in her home... her mother (she calls
'Amma') was waiting for her with prayers...

And here I can imagine a girl... no... not a girl...
An Angel walking in the rain!!!
And her name is... Priya!!!.

Thank you Miss. Priya... my invisible friend in
Jesus... for visiting my home and sharing your self to
my family.

With lots of lov & prayers

[JOYnet] Computer Games & Sexual Temptations

2001-06-14 Thread Smiju Joseph

God bless you all.

My Dear JYs,
When I started thinking about writing this part of my
life... there started the trouble. I planned this
months before but before 4 days only I was able to
start composing and I was disturbed very much
physically and mentally. Thanks for your prayers. Read
this.

In my early life I was an addict to Computer Games. In
90s I was crazy with wolf3D, Prince of Persia, Doom,
Mortal Combat etc. etc. I remember the days up to 1
a.m. a played in my office. Stopping all my works.

My Mother waited me at the entrance of my house in
that darkness. I could clearly identify her shadow
from far, in the light coming from the lamp before the
picture of Jesus. That was one of the times I really
felt the love of my mother. When my mother asked, I
said "Ammachi... there is too much work in office."
She was proud, because I was 'hard working' for
family.

On those days when I closed my eyes to sleep I saw
only images, from games that I played, mostly from
'Doom'. Those images hunted me all the times, when I
was trying to concentrate on prayers, Bible, Mass. It
affected my daily life, my work. When I looked into
artworks and layouts, I saw only fires, guns, and
virtual persons. But I never stopped games and I was
sinking, without knowing I am.

As a young youth at that time it was not a matter for
me (I thought so) that sexual desires came into me. I
let my imaginations to grow wild and wild. My
paintings slowly started to communicate sex and
mysteries. Mistakenly I thought all the artists should
be like this. God knew, I was wrong. He stopped all my
activities (It is another experience).

God planted me in UAE. I came to JY meetings and
JYnet. And still I went crazy with Computer Games.
This time it was "Age of Empires". I really was crazy
playing that game. It takes days to finish one
campaign and I finished all the campaigns of 'Rising
of Rom', 'Age of Kings', 'Age of conquerors' - these
all are different versions of 'Age of Empires'. And I
can say that it was on of the excellent game I ever
played. Actually I was not aware that I was sinning.

When I was trying to grow spiritually I prayed, "Jesus
please take away my unwanted and sexual thoughts" I
talked with some of my friends. They said "It is
difficult to totally remove sexual thoughts from a
person's mind because we are men... not angels".

One day at the time of Mass Jesus asked me "Do you
know from where these thoughts are coming from?"

"I don't know my Lord"

"It's from computer games, which you play. Stop it now
and promise me that you will never touch that CDs."

"I Promise"

Then my brain worked properly and I knew that the
images from the games are directly stored in to the
brain which will replace or hide the images and
thoughts of God and related to Him and steals my free
times. If the thoughts and images of Jesus is erased
from my brain what will happen? Then I am opened to
the world without armors and world can easily attack
me. (Read Mathew 12:43-45)

After the promise to Jesus, first one month was very
difficult without game, but I succeeded quitting
games. I was happy and every thing was ok.

Now what I will do with these CDs?

I was installing a computer in one of our customer's
home. Then one small boy came to me and asked
"uncle... uncle... do you have any game CDs with you?"
I was so happy to give my CDs because if it is with me
perhaps it will put me in trouble.

I said "Yes I have lot of CDs... Did you ever played
age of empire..."

"No"

"You should play. It is a very good game. Actually in
that game you take a role...

"What role...?"

"Taking the role of... what can I say... it is like
taking the role God". Something disturbed my mind but
I was unaware of what I am going to do.

"Really. Is it good game?... When you will give"?

"Today after noon... OK".

After lunch I planned to take the CDs to the boy.
Suddenly a bold voice came out
"Smiju, what are doing?"

I was silent and slowly the picture was so clear to
me.

"I told you to bring souls... and now... Now you
started spoiling souls".

"Jesus... I am sorry... Jesus..."

"Now it is your choice... you can do anything what you
want to do"

It was the first time I ever broke a CD with my hand.
Broken pieces scattered on my bed.

"Don't think that every body is weak as you are." Biju
(roommate) said.

"It is none of your business... It is something...
with my Jesus".

He stared at me for a while and then smiled... a
blessed smile.
I was busy breaking CDs and throwing to bin.

"My kisses Smiju"

"My kisses Jesus"
-

I closed one of my route to sin which I found and may
be you can. If you can make kids aware of the
dangerous of compu

[JOYnet] HE Loves... YOU!

2001-06-09 Thread Smiju Joseph

Won't somebody love me?

"I've been hurt so many times I feel like nobody loves
me. I don't even love myself. I don't even know what
love is. Won't somebody love me?"

"I do. From the moment of your conception, I've held
you in the palm of my hand. I lived for you, suffered
for you, and died because I love you so much and I
want you to be with me forever. Close your eyes. I am
here. Rest your head on my shoulder as I hold you

you.' God is love.

[JOYnet] RE : Real love... Thanks... waiting for more...

2001-06-07 Thread Smiju Joseph

 Real Love
   --
How do we know when love is real? Try this one out.
Replace the word love with the word 'I', and then
read this passage.

Love is kind and patient,
never jealous, boastful,
proud, or rude.
Love isnt selfish
or quick tempered.
It doesnt keep a record
of wrongs that others do.
Love rejoices in the truth,
but not in evil.
Love is always supportive,
loyal, hopeful.
(1 Corinthians 13. 4-7)

Am I patient, kind, not jealous, and not snobbish?
Then use your boyfriends/husbands or
girlfriends/wifes name and read the passage to see
if he/she doesnt brood over injuries or rejoice in
what is wrong.

Lastly, put in Jesus name and read the whole passage
again. Thats what real love is all about.

I thank my friends for inserting new thoughts in my
brain. Awaiting more...

Hearty welcome Mrs. Shelton.

[JOYnet] Re : Emotion... True Love

2001-06-07 Thread Smiju Joseph

God Bless you all.

Dear JYs,

Today the first thing i did is searching the word
meaning for 'emotion' in Dictionary. It says 'emotion'
is 'strong feeling'.

Now listen Mr. Kurian, Ms. Irma, we all are saying the
same thing in different words. As per your view true
love is a decision. That means you decided to love.
After that ...? As a Christian we all decided to love
each other. After that... ?

Making a decision to love instead of hating is only
the first step of love. After that, our mind and soul
go through certain process to reach into true love. It
may take a second or a long time. There we start to
love, which includes emotions and practices.

God likes expressed love not depressed love. If you
have strong love express it.

For me Love is not only a decision. Love doesn't end
in emotion. Love is a decision to a journey...
A journey from emotional love to practical love!
Hugging to sacrificing... Kissing to dieing. Till the
end I don't like to loose the emotional love. I like
to refresh this journey every day. Emotional love
keeps my soul fresh. And gives strength to do
practical love and people can realise my love (when
the time comes). St. John's love is emotion mixed up
with practical. Jesus loved him very much. Whenever
St. John opened his mouth he called us children,
always said about love. Did you ever watch the love of
child to a child? It is emotional mixed up with
practical love. And we call it childish!!!
We --society-- have a concept about love and we
hesitate to think beyond that. That is why society
called early Christians "Crazy People".

Note: Emotions can be generated without true love or
without the intention of soul. And with the help of
Holy Spirit only we can distinguish between true
emotions and fake emotions. Before that don't under
estimate others.

Now... Ms. Irma, in 1 Corinthians 13 - St. Paul is not
against emotions. He is not giving a definition to
love (It is already defined by Jesus Christ). He says
about 'emotions without love'. Emotions without love
may harm you. But emotions, which erect directly from
true love, will always help you to grow in love.

To know more about true love we should open our heart.
Like a country unconditionally opening its borders to
other nations, including its enemies.

The above said could only express 25% of what my heart
tries to say. Studying from children is better than
reading my letter. Some of my theories may be wrong
according to your viewpoint.
If so please share, I can learn. If good I can change.

Re: [JOYnet] The Role of Emotions...

2001-06-06 Thread Smiju Joseph

God bless you all.

What is true love?. It is a kind of feeling which
cannot be explained. And Ms. Irma said that true love
is not emotion. Right.

But True love includes emotions.

If a boy is begging at me for food.
The first thing i will do is... i will kiss him or hug
him or anything which can symbolize my love. (This is
emotion), and here the boy will come to know somebody
is caring him.
The second is i will give food. or i can give love and
food together. The boy is mentaly and physicaly
satisfied.

Love includes, emotions, practicals, acceptance etc..

Ms. Irma, with out emotions, how you are going to
express ur love ?

True love has emotions which streams out from the
soul.

[JOYnet] Seeing Is Believing

2001-06-05 Thread Smiju Joseph

My friends...
God Bless You all.

Why do (insert your name here) believe?
Becuase my parents told me to? Becuase my teachers
taught me to? Do I really believe or just know what
everyone else has told me?

There comes a time when each one of us has to find out
the truth about life, faith, and God by ourselves. We
have to "own" our faith. We can only do that by
seeking Jesus ourselves, in ways that are comfortable
for us, with the help of the Church and other
believers.

When we see God with our own eyes of faith, then our
faith will be our own.

If you can remember at all times that God cares, life
will not discourage you. The Lord is in charge of your

[JOYnet] Let's inspect our fruit

God bless you all.

Dear JYs,
Let's inspect our fruit.

All believers should be "fruit inspectors." That is to
say, we ought to inspect our own lives to make sure
that the "fruit" we bear--the deeds we do--is good
because it comes from the right kind of "tree," the
right kind of person.

[JOYnet] Loving Enemies

2001-05-28 Thread Smiju Joseph

God sends his blessings to all my JYs.
%%

Man, I hate that guy. Every time I say hi to him,
he just keeps walking and doesnt say a word. Guys
got a serious attitude problem.

Do you have an enemy like this, or even worse? Well,
Jesus had some things to say about that person we
hate. He said to love him (or her)! Notice, he didnt
just say like your enemies. He said love them.

Is he out of his mind? No, hes God. And anybody
should have a complaint about someone (especially
about us), it should be him. After all, our
sins--yours and mine--crucified him!

But Jesus loves us nonetheless. And he wants us to do
the same. That means being respectful, understanding,
helpful, and giving without expecting anything in
return--not even a hello.

Remember not to judge. You never know why a person
acts the way he or she does. Only God knows. And Jesus
tells us to love, no mater what. The rest is up to
him.

[JOYnet] Proper behavior at worship

2001-05-27 Thread Smiju Joseph

God bless u all

How awful it is when people sin even while they meet
together for the Eucharist. We should honor God with
out thoughts, words, and actions at all times, but
especially when we meet to worship him. To truly
worship God, we need to have him on the throne, not
ourselves, and to love one another as he showed us in
the Last Supper.
