[libreoffice-l10n] [pootle] Templates update for 4.3 (ui) [2014-07-10]
Hi *, forgot to announce it here: I updated the templates for 4.3 ui project in pootle yesterday. (all languages have been updated from the commandline) There are a couple of new strings, because strings that were formerly marked as non-translatable now are tranlsatable (graphic format labels) ciao Christian -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: l10n+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/l10n/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
[libreoffice-l10n] [ANN] LIbreOffice 4.3.0 RC2 available
Dear Community, The Document Foundation is pleased to announce the second release candidate of LibreOffice 4.3.0. The upcoming 4.3.0 will be the eighth major release of LibreOffice, coming with a bunch of new features beside the usual bugfixes. RC2 is in release configuration and can be be installed alongside the stable version on linux and Mac OS X, but will update an earlier version on Windows. RC2 is not ready for production yet (there is one additional RC planned), and while it marks hard code freeze, translations are not all up-to-date yet. A work-in-progress list of new features in LibreOffice 4.3 can be found at https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/4.3 The release is available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X from our QA builds download page at http://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/ Developers and QA might also be interested in the symbol server for windows debug information (see the release notes linked below for details) Should you find bugs, please report them to the FreeDesktop Bugzilla: https://bugs.freedesktop.org A good way to assess the release candidate quality is to run some specific manual tests on it, our TCM wiki page has more details: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Testing/Regression_Tests#Full_Regression_Test For other ways to get involved with this exciting project - you can e.g. contribute code: http://www.libreoffice.org/community/developers/ translate LibreOffice to your language: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/LibreOffice_Localization_Guide or help with funding our operations: http://donate.libreoffice.org/ A list of known issues and fixed bugs with 4.3.0 RC2 is available from our wiki: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Releases/4.3.0/RC2 Let us close again with a BIG Thank You! to all of you having contributed to the LibreOffice project - this release would not have been possible without your help. And if you turn on your browser's debugging features, you see that the request for the actual translation gives a "500 internal server errror" problem.. Dear Community, The Document Foundation is pleased to announce the first Beta release of LibreOffice 4.3.0. The upcoming 4.3.0 will be the eighth major release of LibreOffice, coming with a bunch of new features beside the usual bugfixes. The Beta1 can be installed alongside the stable version, so feel free to give it a try. Beta1 is not ready for production yet, and while Beta1 marks feature freeze, final UI and string freeze is yet to come, and translations are not complete. A work-in-progress list of new features in LibreOffice 4.3 can be found at https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/4.3 The release is available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X from our QA builds download page at http://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/ Developers and QA might also be interested in the symbol server for windows debug information (see the release notes linked below for details) Should you find bugs, please report them to the FreeDesktop Bugzilla: https://bugs.freedesktop.org A good way to assess the release candidate quality is to run some specific manual tests on it, our TCM wiki page has more details: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Testing/Regression_Tests#Full_Regression_Test For other ways to get involved with this exciting project - you can e.g. contribute code: http://www.libreoffice.org/community/developers/ translate LibreOffice to your language: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/LibreOffice_Localization_Guide or help with funding our operations: http://donate.libreoffice.org/ A list of known issues and fixed bugs with 4.3.0 Beta1 is available from our wiki: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Releases/4.3.0/Beta1 Let us close again with a BIG Thank You! to all of you having contributed to the LibreOffice project - this release would not have been possible without your help. Some comments have special meaning, like the #, fuzzy marker, and others like #~ are used by pootle internally (this flags obsolete strings, i.e. strings that once needed to be translated, but are no longer used in the current version. >> These comments are gone if I save the PO file >> with Poedit, for example. The first line shouldn't matter, but you should avoid throwing away the other comments, as the other comment lines contain the context for the string - so when you remove the comments, pootle (or other tools) cannot tell what string the translation belongs to, esp. when the english string is the same for both. > not sure, Cloph will have to confirm if it's only an indication or used > somewhere. It isn't safe to remove all comments, and #. and #: style comments are commonly used, so I would be surprised if poedit would throw them all away. That being said the one in the very first line is not critical, so no need to worry if that gets lost. But if the comments above the individual translation strings also are stripped, then you should have a closer look at the program's settings or use another one. ciao Christian -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: l10n+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/l10n/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

Nope, actually correcting myself here: As the strings are already present (but untranslated) in the old po files it means that update_against_templates was run. So that leaves pootle's statistics display/untranslated string count being wrong for whatever reason. ciao Christian -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: l10n+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/l10n/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

Glade conversion) that could -- and should! -- be > fixed by a script for all translations? I did run a script over 43 help that did cover the changed hids (i.e. xml-attributes), but did not run other automated converstion stuff. And with UI dialog conversion any automatic conversion would very likely not work. (in the sense of creating the mapping of old → new is very hard to do automatically). I.e. it would need hours to look through the diff and identify the old dialog string and the new dialog string (and their location/identifieres) to create a mapping. I.e. the source moves to a different file that makes the context-attributes change, and as UI strings are short and appear in various contexts, creating such a mapping is not trivial. Even for help-xml attributes where it is relatively easy (as the order in the po file doesn't change much, the po file and the message-context stays the same), it still requires lots of manual checking to account for added/removed lines/IDs that otherwise would mix up the mapping. ciao Christian -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: l10n+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/l10n/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
Re: [libreoffice-l10n] Re: [ANN] pootle downtime to create 4.3 translation project 20:00 UTC → tomorrow evening (probably, maybe longer)

Come on, don't make life so hard for admins. At least state the language or better give concrete example. So I have to guess it is pt project or dig in old emails to find reference. pt 42 UI project has 30 words / 10 strings that need attention, so that doesn't match your 20, so I'm not sure whether I'm looking at the correct thing in the first place. And of course if you retranslated stuff in the meantime that makes it even harder for me to check for differences. > Can you check what went wrong. Or is this intended? I'd love to check what went wrong, but in order to do so having a concrete file/string that I can compare to the backup I took before conversion is of course much easier than having to guess. And no, there should be no change in translations. But you might have missed one update against templates or similar. Could as well be that there was an inconsistency in pootle's db that now showed up after reindexing. Anyway: for example one of the untranslated strings: https://translations.documentfoundation.org/pt/libo42_ui/translate/scaddins/source/pricing.po#search=yxV78&sfields=notes If I compare the pricing.po before and after the backup I can see no difference apart from the removal of the obsolete strings that were removed from the po file. In other words: The string wasn't translated before copying over the po files. Also not checked in to the sourcecode, i.e. not part of LibreOffice either: https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/gitweb?p=translations.git;a=blob;f=source/pt/scaddins/source/pricing.po;hb=libreoffice-4.2.4.2#l352 (there is a second string with identical wording for RID_PRICING_FUNCTION_DESCRIPTIONS.PRICING_FUNCDESC_OptBarrier that is translated in both pootle and the sources though: https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/gitweb?p=translations.git;a=blob;f=source/pt/scaddins/source/pricing.po;hb=libreoffice-4.2.4.2#l109 https://translations.documentfoundation.org/pt/libo42_ui/translate/scaddins/source/pricing.po#search=gp6G8&sfields=notes ) So from what I can tell by this sample (from which I don't know whether I'm looking at the correct thing since you didn't provide details): Nothing went wrong during the conversion. If libo42_ui project for pt language was displayed as 100% translated, then this was an inconsistency in pootle. As https://translations.documentfoundation.org/pt/libo42_ui/translate/scaddins/source/pricing.po#search=jCwnu&sfields=notes also is untranslated, it is a stroong indication that pt project didn't run the update_against_templates after I updated updated templates for 4.2.0rc1 - aka string freeze. Those two strings had typo-fixes (and thus ID changes): -#. uRahb +#. yxV78 -msgid "Fime to maturity of the option in years" +msgid "Time to maturity of the option in years" and -#. JzCxQ +#. jCwnu -msgid "Tower barrier (set to 0 for no lower barrier)" +msgid "Lower barrier (set to 0 for no lower barrier)" so again no problem with the conversion done now. When there was a problem, then it was with the the old installation/that the update against templates for 42 UI project after the string-freeze update did fail/was incomplete/was not done at all. ciao Christian -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: l10n+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/l10n/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

Hi Stanić, *. On Monday, February 10, 2014, Stanić Mihovil wrote: > What are keyid builds? > Daily builds with localizations included? > KeyID is a special "language" that has the identfiers added to the strings in the UI - so when you use LibreOffice in the special "qtz" language (the language-code for the key-ID "translation", you can identify which one of the many "Apply" or "OK" strings you're looking at :-) You can use that ID to look for the corresponding entry in pootle. Note that regular translations have not been updated especially for this build - so regular translation can be older than the 4.2.0 final. The regular translations are provided as convenience, to get a feel/flow of the translation in context. As the keyID build is a dev-build, it can be installed alongside the stable version, and this is the recommended way to use it. I.e. install the keyID build with qtz (and english language) only (install the languagepack for linux or use custom setup in windows and add qtz language to the list of installed locales) and use the 4.2.0 final build to compare to your current translation. ciao Christian -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: l10n+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/l10n/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

Hi Milos, *, On Tue, Feb 11, 2014 at 11:40 AM, Milos Sramek wrote: > [...] > According to the Pootle documentation, this version supports translation > memory (amagama server). > Can we activate this feature? This is activated, but it has the same problem as on the live server: the translation memory server doesn't support https, so your browser refuses to load it since pootle itself was accessed using https. Your browser should show some indicator that it blocked content from loading. In chrome it is a shield at the right hand side of the location entry box, next to the bookmark-star, in firefox the indicator is at the left. Allow to load the content from locamotion org and it should work. ciao Christian -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: l10n+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/l10n/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

Re: [libreoffice-l10n] A little tiny new string for 4.2.1???
Hi *, I updated the templates and triggered the syncing process (but this is rather slow and takes a while), As it processes the languages in alphabetical sorting (regarding the iso-code) - don't be alarmed if nothing new shows up right now. Check again in a few hours. As Andras mentioned: While there a couple of new strings, it is just that those haven't been marked as translatable before, and for most of them you can just copy the english string (as for example a string like "CGM - Computer Graphics Metafile" won't be translated, but you might want to translate Document in filternames like "ClarisWorks/AppleWorks Document" ciao Christian -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: l10n+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/l10n/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

Please be aware that LibreOffice 4.2.0 RC2 is not been flagged as ready for production use yet, you should continue to use LibreOffice 4.1.4 for that. The release is available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X from our QA builds download page at http://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/ LibreOffice 4.2.0 RC2 is also available in a 64bit version for Mac OS X 10.8 (or newer) Developers and QA might also be interested in the symbol server for windows debug information (see the release notes linked below for details). Beginning with RC2, the debug symbols are also source-indexed. Should you find bugs, please report them to the FreeDesktop Bugzilla: https://bugs.freedesktop.org A good way to assess the release candidate quality is to run some specific manual tests on it, our TCM wiki page has more details: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Testing/Regression_Tests#Full_Regression_Test For other ways to get involved with this exciting project - you can e.g. contribute code: http://www.libreoffice.org/get-involved/developers/ translate LibreOffice to your language: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/LibreOffice_Localization_Guide or help with funding our operations: http://donate.libreoffice.org/ A list of known issues and fixed bugs with 4.2.0 RC2 is available from our wiki: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Releases/4.2.0/RC2 Let us close again with a BIG Thank You! to all of you having contributed to the LibreOffice project - this release would not have been possible without your help. [libreoffice-l10n] [pootle] templates for libo_ui update to fix typos/copy'n'paste errors
Hi *, I updated the templates with the fixes that were reported on the list and that Andras did apply to the repository, specifically http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?h=libreoffice-4-2&id=7e78ca35dd80d2330cfc4e6ede7a1139b136a673 http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?h=libreoffice-4-2&id=3a860d3e03e523777942a5c824d8cb6013d4098f I also triggered the update_against_templates. It afffects the newly added strings in the smath-sidebar where there were typos / errors. Translations for rc2 will be fetched from pootle at around 11:00 UTC - but don't worry if you don't update all strings for rc2, as there will be a third one - deadline for that is Monday, January 20 Also as a pre-announcement: we'll be updating pootle in the week after that, (after deadline for 4.1.5, which is Monday, Jan 27). So pootle will not be available for a few hours during that time, but there'll be a separate announcement with more details. ciao Christian -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: l10n+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/l10n/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

Sorry for the delay - I redid the deletion/resyncing of the langauge against the project, so that the download should now work. I also triggered the update_against_templates, so the new strings as shown in previous posts should show up. (and I guess you already know, as you updated new files already :-)) ciao Christian -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: l10n+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/l10n/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
Re: [libreoffice-l10n] [pootle] Templates update fo 4.2.0 (ui)

As I don't know what files/strings are affected by this, I unfortunately cannot help myself. I uploaded the po files that were created right before applying the new update here: http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/tmp/2013-01-03/libo_ui/ So please download the po file from that URL, and then (depending on how much strings are missing) either upload that file to pootle to add back those translations, or just look at the file in your text-editor and copy'n'paste the translation into pootle. If it is about strings that already had been translated, using the translation memory server might be a shortcut to get back the old strings. Unfortunately current browsers block scripts from http URLs, when the current page is viewed via https - so you have to look for an icon in your browser's tool/location bar that lets you whitelist the translation server. In Chromium it is a shield icon at the right-hand side in the location bar, left to the bookmark-star. In firefox it is at the left of the URL (see e.g. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-does-content-isnt-secure-affect-my-safety ) > RC2 deadline will be soon, and we already moving on applied > pootle site (if we use the backup, our activities will be gone). > > Any idea? It is not clear what backup you're referring to - the one I took before updating, or your own - In any case: The file-upload to pootle lets you specify whether the file you upload should completely replace the existing one, or whether the translations should be combined. So when you choose "combine/merge", then the translations you did after updating against the templates should be preserved. Hope that helps, If not, the only thing that might work is a database backup - but extracting stuff from that likely is difficult / at least some hints as to what file(s) are affected would help. ciao Christian -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: l10n+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/l10n/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
[libreoffice-l10n] [pootle] Templates update fo 4.2.0 (ui)
Hi *, Some bugfixes after string-freeze: (thanks to Andras for keeping an eye on that): sc/source/ui/StatisticsDialogs.pot -- copy&paste fix starmath/source.pot -- side panel tooltips svtools/source/misc.pot -- only a changed ID wizards/source/euro.pot -- Latvian Lats + renumbered identifiers The major change is flagging the tooltips in math's sidebar as translatable, so that is a bunch of new strings. Latvia adopted Euro Currency, so the Euro-Converter got updated, so that's why there's a new string introduced. In Numbers: sc/source/ui/StatisticsDialogs.pot |6 +- starmath/source.pot| 2018 - svtools/source/misc.pot|6 +- wizards/source/euro.pot| 17 +- Around 560 words changed. http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/tmp/2013-01-03.diff.html (plaintext diff: just omit the .html) To avoid pootle picking translations from other projects, I'll trigger the update from the commandline for all languages I create backup of current pootle state right before updating against the templates. ciao Christian -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: l10n+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/l10n/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

Yes, as written in earlier mails to the list, the po files that were exported from pootle just before updating the templates are in the libreoffice translations git repository and can be fetched from there. I restored sfx/source/dialog.po - that's where that link pointed to is located. If there are more problems, please just download and upload them yourself quoting myself: "In case pootle should misbehave and replace your translations by another language in some files, please reupload the corresponding po files from http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/translations/tree/source?id=libreoffice-4.2.0.1 (or your local backup)" ciao Christian -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: l10n+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/l10n/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

Re: [libreoffice-l10n] finding key-ID in UI ?
Hi Cor, *, On Sun, Dec 29, 2013 at 10:42 PM, Cor Nouws wrote: > > It's possible to find a key-ID in Pootle through search in 'comments'. > > The other way round... if I see a key-ID: is there a trick to find it in > the UI ? Search it in pootle, and have a look at the context-line / the filepath. That will give you at least the modue (writer, calc,) and often enough the name of the dialog.l If it is a .ui file, then it is a new style (aka glade) dialog that you can open in glade without having to click through the menus, if it is an old dialog, you should get some idea by the filename as to what functionality it corresponds to. > (I have some guidance of course from the Context of course, such as " > linetabpage.ui FT_CAP_STYLE label string.text" but that's still a puzzle..) Nah, in this case it is relatively easy - as it is a glade dialog So look for the file linetabpage.ui in your installation (either use "find /path/to/lo -name linetabpage.ui" or "locate linetabpage.ui" or whatever file search your system provides) It also tells you that the string is a label, i.e. a textfield in the dialog that is non-editable by the user, but only a description field. The ID hints to having something to do with CAPs (i.e. ending graphics of lines (as it is is in a dialog that is about lines (line tab page) - if the latter is not clear/obvious, it will be once you open the dialog itself. So use GLADE_CATALOG_SEARCH_PATH=/path/to/lo/share/glade glade /path/to/lo/share/config/soffice.cfg/cui/ui/linetabpage.ui to open the dialog in glade. Click on the "Caps" label/textfield in the dialog. This will select the UI-element in the hierarchy and lets you confirm that that label really has the ID "FT_CAP_STYLE" and thus is the one you were looking for. Alternatively use Glade's widget-search box and search for "FT_CAP_STYLE" - that does it the opposite way. you select the ID in the hierarchy and it will highlight the element in the dialog. Instead of using glade, you can also try to deduce what dialog that is in LibreOffice. It is about lines, thus open up Draw, draw a line, select it and use contextmenu → Line. While this doesn't give you the exact element directly, hopefully there will only be one element in that dialog that has the value that is given in pootle as the source/translation text.
