[libreoffice-l10n] [pootle] Templates update for 4.3 (ui) [2014-07-10]

2014-07-11 Thread Christian Lohmaier
Hi *,

forgot to announce it here:
I updated the templates for 4.3 ui project in pootle yesterday. (all
languages have been updated from the commandline)

There are a couple of new strings, because strings that were formerly
marked as non-translatable now are tranlsatable (graphic format
labels)

Dear Community,

The Document Foundation is pleased to announce the second release
candidate of LibreOffice 4.3.0. The upcoming 4.3.0 will be the eighth
major release of LibreOffice, coming with a bunch of new features
beside the usual bugfixes.

RC2 is in release configuration and can be be installed alongside the

RC2 is not ready for production yet (there is one additional RC
planned), and while it marks hard code freeze, translations are
not all up-to-date yet.

A work-in-progress list of new features in LibreOffice 4.3 can be
found at https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/4.3

The release is available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X from our QA
builds download page at

  http://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/

Developers and QA might also be interested in the symbol server for
windows debug information (see the release notes linked below for
details)

Should you find bugs, please report them to the FreeDesktop Bugzilla:

A good way to assess the release candidate quality is to run some
specific manual tests on it, our TCM wiki page has more details:

No - I also only saw what was in the pot files, but as it is related

similar.

and indeed it is.

2014-06-26 Thread Christian Lohmaier
Hi *,

yesterday evening pootle templates have been updated for 4.3

In helpcontent, it is only changed icons, and those occurrences have
been fixed by a script, so no changes should show up.

As for UI, there's one removed string and one
-msgid " Options"
+msgid "%1 Options"

in svtools/uiconfig/ui.pot

All languages have been updated against the templates in the commandline.

It is because the actual translation server has a problem, thus all
projects using this server have a problem.

you can check the service at
https://amagama-live.translatehouse.org/

it also is unable to produce results. And if you turn on your
browser's debugging features, you see that the request for the actual
translation gives a "500 internal server errror" problem..

So we have to wait until that problem is solved/cannot do anything ourselves.

[libreoffice-l10n] [pootle] Templates updated for 4.3.0 rc1 (help and ui) [2014-06-14]

2014-06-14 Thread Christian Lohmaier
Hi *,

the templates have been updated for the LibreOffice 4.3 help and ui
projects for next week's rc1.

The updates have been triggered automatically - help is finished, UI
still progressing.

Only small changes this time:

two files/3 strings affected in help:
http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/tmp/pootle_43_2014-06-14/libo_help_2014-06-14.diff.html

(password-length limit no longer 5, but just one character)

Similar in ui:
http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/tmp/pootle_43_2014-06-14/libo_ui_2014-06-14.diff.html

a couple of strings were removed from translation, no string changes,
but 1 additional string (for the password-length) and 6 additional
strings for language variants of French.

Wrote a script and had it process those yesterday - saves
re-translating of around 820 strings (for those who had all those
strings translated already).
(Didn't take strings that were marked as fuzzy into account, so if you
had it translated, but marked as fuzzy, it will appear untranslated.)

I did it before importing the strings to the source for beta2

Hi *,

As unfortunately triggering the update via webUI still causes the
random-strings-from-other langauges included, I won't propose this in
future anymore

I'll trigger the update_against_templates for all languages now - for
languages that already did trigger the update in the webui:

You can find a backup of the files before the update_against_templates here:
http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/tmp/pootle_43_2014-05-30/ui.tar.bz2

I could reset the translations to that for you if you tell me so.

Please either copy a link to the entry in pootle, or at least copy the
comment/location part of the string as well. This will usually already
give a hit, at least the filename/path of the po file already should
tell you the Application (Writer, Calc, Impress,...) and some more

it) - so the diff looks huge, but the actual changes to the text
itself is much smaller, around 100 strings have been touched.

[libreoffice-l10n] [ANN] LIbreOffice 4.2.5 RC1 available

2014-05-30 Thread Christian Lohmaier
Dear Community,

The Document Foundation is pleased to announce the first release
candidate of LibreOffice 4.2.5. The upcoming 4.2.5 will be the fifth
in a sequence of frequent bugfix releases for our feature-packed 4.2
line. Feel free to give it a try instead of 4.2.4.

The release is available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X from our QA
builds download page at

  http://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/

Developers and QA might also be interested in the symbol server for
windows debug information (see the release notes linked below for
details)

Should you find bugs, please report them to the FreeDesktop Bugzilla:

  https://bugs.freedesktop.org

A good way to assess the release candidate quality is to run some
specific manual tests on it, our TCM wiki page has more details:

I'm the one who deals with extracting the translations from pootle and
putting them into the sourcecode and for updating the templates on pootle
and stuff. I'm not a gatekeeper of some sort regarding pootle
administration. I happen to also have administrative rights on pootle, but
setting up new locales or adding people to languages can be done by other
pootle admins as well.

In this case, Andras already handled the request as far as I can tell:
Andras Timar wrote on May 22nd:

So if there's still a problem, please let me know.

beside the usual bugfixes.

The Beta1 can be installed alongside the stable version, so feel free
to give it a try. Beta1 is not ready for production yet, and while
Beta1 marks feature freeze, final UI and string freeze is yet to come,

ui means glade dialog, so you can open that one with glade and have a look.

Those are used in a dropdown where you can pick the operator, similar
to the conditional format dialog in calc.

This is not an invalid line, more specifically it is a "extracted
comment" in gnu-terminology:
https://www.gnu.org/software/gettext/manual/html_node/PO-Files.html
"Comment lines starting with #. contain comments given by the
programmer, directed at the translator; these comments are called
extracted comments because the xgettext program extracts them from the
program's source code"

In general, every line that starts with # is a comment. Some comments
have special meaning, like the #, fuzzy marker, and others like #~ are
used by pootle internally (this flags obsolete strings, i.e. strings
that once needed to be translated, but are no longer used in the
current version.

The first line shouldn't matter, but you should avoid throwing away
the other comments, as the other comment lines contain the context for
the string - so when you remove the comments, pootle (or other tools)
cannot tell what string the translation belongs to, esp. when the
english string is the same for both.

> not sure, Cloph will have to confirm if it's only an indication or used

It isn't safe to remove all comments, and #. and #: style comments are
commonly used, so I would be surprised if poedit would throw them all
away.
That being said the one in the very first line is not critical, so no
need to worry if that gets lost.

But if the comments above the individual translation strings also are
stripped, then you should have a closer look at the program's settings
or use another one.

This string comes from a glade dialog, so to get the full context, you
can open the tp_RangeChooser.ui file in glade to see the dialog, and
also use glade to identify what sting is label1, if it is not clear
from the english text.

There are 70 suggestions in help and 75 in ui

If that sounds abour right, you'll find them here:

I fear that those were lost, as the suggestions are not synced to the
po files on disk that are used as basis for the conversion of the
pootle projects that was done last week.

If it was lots of strings, I can look in database backups, but that is

Nope, actually correcting myself here:
As the strings are already present (but untranslated) in the old po
files it means that update_against_templates was run. So that leaves
pootle's statistics display/untranslated string count being wrong for
whatever reason.

I did run a script over 43 help that did cover the changed hids (i.e.
xml-attributes), but did not run other automated converstion stuff.

And with UI dialog conversion any automatic conversion would very
likely not work. (in the sense of creating the mapping of old → new is
very hard to do automatically). I.e. it would need hours to look
through the diff and identify the old dialog string and the new dialog
string (and their location/identifieres) to create a mapping. I.e. the
source moves to a different file that makes the context-attributes
change, and as UI strings are short and appear in various contexts,
creating such a mapping is not trivial.

Even for help-xml attributes where it is relatively easy (as the order
in the po file doesn't change much, the po file and the
message-context stays the same), it still requires lots of manual
checking to account for added/removed lines/IDs that otherwise would
mix up the mapping.

Come on, don't make life so hard for admins. At least state the
language or better give concrete example.
So I have to guess it is pt project or dig in old emails to find reference.

pt 42 UI project has 30 words / 10 strings that need attention, so
that doesn't match your 20, so I'm not sure whether I'm looking at the
correct thing in the first place.
And of course if you retranslated stuff in the meantime that makes it
even harder for me to check for differences.

> Can you check what went wrong. Or is this intended?

I'd love to check what went wrong, but in order to do so having a
concrete file/string that I can compare to the backup I took before
conversion is of course much easier than having to guess.

And no, there should be no change in translations. But you might have
missed one update against templates or similar. Could as well be that
there was an inconsistency in pootle's db that now showed up after
reindexing. Anyway:

for example one of the untranslated strings:
https://translations.documentfoundation.org/pt/libo42_ui/translate/scaddins/source/pricing.po#search=yxV78&sfields=notes

If I compare the pricing.po before and after the backup I can see no
difference apart from the removal of the obsolete strings that were
removed from the po file. In other words: The string wasn't translated
before copying over the po files.

Also not checked in to the sourcecode, i.e. not part of LibreOffice either:
https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/gitweb?p=translations.git;a=blob;f=source/pt/scaddins/source/pricing.po;hb=libreoffice-4.2.4.2#l352

(there is a second string with identical wording for
RID_PRICING_FUNCTION_DESCRIPTIONS.PRICING_FUNCDESC_OptBarrier that is
translated in both pootle and the sources though:
https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/gitweb?p=translations.git;a=blob;f=source/pt/scaddins/source/pricing.po;hb=libreoffice-4.2.4.2#l109
https://translations.documentfoundation.org/pt/libo42_ui/translate/scaddins/source/pricing.po#search=gp6G8&sfields=notes
)

So from what I can tell by this sample (from which I don't know
whether I'm looking at the correct thing since you didn't provide
details):
Nothing went wrong during the conversion. If libo42_ui project for pt
language was displayed as 100% translated, then this was an
inconsistency in pootle.

As
https://translations.documentfoundation.org/pt/libo42_ui/translate/scaddins/source/pricing.po#search=jCwnu&sfields=notes

also is untranslated, it is a stroong indication that pt
project didn't run the update_against_templates after I updated
updated templates for 4.2.0rc1 - aka string freeze.

Those two strings had typo-fixes (and thus ID changes):
-#. uRahb
+#. yxV78
-msgid "Fime to maturity of the option in years"
+msgid "Time to maturity of the option in years"

and
-#. JzCxQ
+#. jCwnu
-msgid "Tower barrier (set to 0 for no lower barrier)"
+msgid "Lower barrier (set to 0 for no lower barrier)"

so again no problem with the conversion done now. When there was a
problem, then it was with the the old installation/that the update
against templates for 42 UI project after the string-freeze update did
fail/was incomplete/was not done at all.

You can't. The Key-ID language is not in the regular release builds.

A keyID build for 4.2 line is available from the link I pasted earlier
( http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/tmp/4.2_keyid/ ), for 4.3 you
could use the alpha1 (but not on Windows XP - but users shouldn't

For 4.3 there'll soon be fresh keyID builds, and I'll then also
provide Mac OSX keyID build (or better ask Norbert to upload that as

Your browser already shows you a notification. In Chrome it is a
shield at the right-hand side of the location bar, in firefox it's the
icon on the left of the bar.

(and this has been discussed and mentioned multiple times on the list

Those are link labels that also very likely need to have their
link-target editable (as so NL-projects can choose their own
url-segments.
I'll need to create a custom DB-Type for that (and the other links
where currently you have to type in the URL-Segment instead of
choosing the page from a list).

In other words: These then will be translatable/Settable in the
backend, not as part of the translation files. But need to write and
test that first, but should be done by Friday.

Dear Community,

The Document Foundation is pleased to announce the second release
candidate of LibreOffice 4.2.4. The upcoming 4.2.4 will be the fourth
in a sequence of frequent bugfix releases for our feature-packed 4.2

After a second ping, after you verified that the translations work as
expected/the contents of your published subsite is ready. Then the
vhost will be reconfigred to have pt-br.libreoffice.org handled by the
newdesign site.

As you'll be the first NL-Project to switch, you might find places
that I did overlook when preparing the translation template though :-)

Assuming that projects will finish one after the other, and not all at
the same time:

you're done[1]
* to make the switch from "olddesign" to newdesing: ping again, when

That way you loose the error-markings for the 4.2 branch. so everything has
drawbacks.

Import is already running for many ours, so I don't really want to abort
that just because of that.

Rather such a high number of errors indicate a poblem with the check
itself, doesn't it?

nope. Availability hasn't been announced yet. Esp. When you're looking at

The only libo-ui language that has been updated against templates was AF.
First in list, so had to be the labrat :-)

Not sure what you mean with that. What's currently happening is that the
changed helpids/tags get auto-changed.

Ah, now I understand. Unfortunately that's not stored in the po files, so

I didn't pull the strings from pootle yet, so if they are in right

Only today. I plan to do it in the afternoon. So if you cannot do it
in the next hours, then let me know. I could delay tagging, but for
that I need to now a timeframe when you will be ready.

afternoon/evening. I usually pull translations right about this time,

There is a fuelproject po file in hi's terminology project in pootle
already, so there's no need to visit that sight, pootle should offer
the terminology suggestinos right in the webfrontend.

Not sure how up-to-date it is though - filename is "fuel-hi.po", while
fuelproject's downloads (

split in desktop web and mobile... and for hi only fuel-desktop-hi.po
is available.

Best to get them from git, modify/update them accordingly and then
provide the updated files via an attachment in bugzilla or as a review
request in gerrit.

(the .bau files are zips wiith the corresponding xml inside).

AutoCorrection and AutoText stuff is highly language dependent, so no
point in having it in pootle (not to mention that there is no scripts
that would convert from/to those bau to po and back :-))

No, no need to translate. Esp. translating the "print", spc or tab
function names would be an error even.

So it depends on whether you generally translate the terms in help for
Basic, or whether you let it be "programmer's stuff" :-)

Esp. for these kind of strings, it is important to view it in context,

[libreoffice-l10n] [ANN] LIbreOffice 4.1.6 RC1 available

2014-04-15 Thread Christian Lohmaier
Dear Community,

The Document Foundation is pleased to announce the first release
candidate of LibreOffice 4.1.6. The upcoming 4.1.6 will be the sixth and final
in a sequence of frequent bugfix releases for our feature-packed 4.1
line. Feel free to give it a try instead of 4.1.5.

The release is available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X from our QA
builds download page at

  http://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/

Developers and QA might also be interested in the symbol server for
windows debug information (see the release notes linked below for
details)

Should you find bugs, please report them to the FreeDesktop Bugzilla:

  https://bugs.freedesktop.org

A good way to assess the release candidate quality is to run some
specific manual tests on it, our TCM wiki page has more details:

http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Testing/Regression_Tests#Full_Regression_Test

For other ways to get involved with this exciting project - you can
e.g. contribute code:

  http://www.libreoffice.org/community/developers/

translate LibreOffice to your language:

  http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/LibreOffice_Localization_Guide

or help with funding our operations:

  http://donate.libreoffice.org/

A list of known issues and fixed bugs with 4.1.6 RC1 is available
from our wiki:

2014-04-15 Thread Christian Lohmaier
Hi *,

translations are run through pocheck utility that discards
translations for stuff that cause runtime-problems. Specifically, it
checks whether

* style names are unique
* math symbol identifiers contain spaces
* calc functions are unique
* windows installer strings (where English ends with "|", translation
must end with "|" too)

language is not in the following list, feel free to ignore the rest of

Can you still reproduce?

I don't get any error with Chrome browser - it takes a while to create
the page, but no server-error or server-timeout.

Pootle html-templates only add the filter-by-tag option in the project
overview, not in the project's language overview.

i.e you see the filter icon on
https://translations.documentfoundation.org/projects/libo_ui/ but not
on fr/libo_ui

FYI: database performance is really bad after conversion, so did
optimize the table to make it somewhat usable.

Not as fast as it should be, but workable.

[libreoffice-l10n] [ANN] LIbreOffice 4.2.3 RC1 available

2014-03-14 Thread Christian Lohmaier
Dear Community,

The Document Foundation is pleased to announce the first release
candidate of LibreOffice 4.2.3. The upcoming 4.2.3 will be the third
in a sequence of frequent bugfix releases for our feature-packed 4.2
line. Feel free to give it a try instead of 4.2.2. Conservative users
should continue to use LibreOffice 4.1.5

The release is available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X from our QA
builds download page at

  http://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/

LibreOffice 4.2.3 RC1 is also available in a 64bit version for Mac OS
X 10.8 (or newer)

Developers and QA might also be interested in the symbol server for
windows debug information (see the release notes linked below for
details)

Should you find bugs, please report them to the FreeDesktop Bugzilla:

  https://bugs.freedesktop.org

A good way to assess the release candidate quality is to run some
specific manual tests on it, our TCM wiki page has more details:

http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Testing/Regression_Tests#Full_Regression_Test

For other ways to get involved with this exciting project - you can
e.g. contribute code:

translate LibreOffice to your language:

  http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/LibreOffice_Localization_Guide

or help with funding our operations:

A list of known issues and fixed bugs with 4.2.3 RC1 is available

Let us close again with a BIG Thank You! to all of you having

unfortunately the live server is quite lower spec compared to the testing
server, so the database migration takes much longer than the first
estimate. In fact it is still converting...

[libreoffice-l10n] Release Schedule updated for x.y.1 releases

2014-02-27 Thread Christian Lohmaier
Hi *,

as discussed by the ESC and announced in the minutes already, the
release plan in the wiki was updated to reflect the decision.

Previously there was a 5 week gap between the .0 and .1 release
followed by a 4 week gap between the .1 and .2 release.

Now the .1 release was moved one week forward, so the gaps are now 4
weeks between .0 and .1, and 5 weeks between .1 and .2

ascii representation of the change (view with fixed-width font):

X.Y.0 5 weeks X.Y.14 weeksX.Y.2
X.Y.0 4 weeksX.Y.1 5 weeks X.Y.2

so only the release date of the .1 release changes, the rest of the
schedule remains the same.

I granted you privileges to make suggestions - if neither should reply

KeyID is a special "language" that has the identfiers added to the strings
in the UI - so when you use LibreOffice in the special "qtz" language (the
language-code for the key-ID "translation", you can identify which one of
the many "Apply" or "OK" strings you're looking at :-)

You can use that ID to look for the corresponding entry in pootle.

Note that regular translations have not been updated especially for this
build - so regular translation can be older than the 4.2.0 final. The
regular translations are provided as convenience, to get a feel/flow of the
translation in context.

As the keyID build is a dev-build, it can be installed alongside the stable
version, and this is the recommended way to use it.

I.e. install the keyID build with qtz (and english language) only (install
the languagepack for linux or use custom setup in windows and add qtz
language to the list of installed locales) and use the 4.2.0 final build to
compare to your current translation.

No, currently this is not possible at least not by just installing packages.
This would require touching the installed files.

I guess just copying the english help to the relevant directories would
work, but never tried/did not investigate.
Maybe there's some additional metadata that needs to be adjusted, but I
don't think so.

This is activated, but it has the same problem as on the live server:
the translation memory server doesn't support https, so your browser
refuses to load it since pootle itself was accessed using https.

Your browser should show some indicator that it blocked content from
loading. In chrome it is a shield at the right hand side of the
location entry box, next to the bookmark-star, in firefox the
indicator is at the left.

Allow to load the content from locamotion org and it should work.

Re: [libreoffice-l10n] A little tiny new string for 4.2.1???

2014-01-17 Thread Christian Lohmaier
Hi *,

I updated the templates and triggered the syncing process (but this is
rather slow and takes a while), As it processes the languages in
alphabetical sorting (regarding the iso-code) - don't be alarmed if
nothing new shows up right now. Check again in a few hours.

As Andras mentioned: While there a couple of new strings, it is just
that those haven't been marked as translatable before, and for most of
them you can just copy the english string (as for example a string
like "CGM - Computer Graphics Metafile" won't be translated, but you
might want to translate Document in filternames like
"ClarisWorks/AppleWorks Document"

[libreoffice-l10n] [pootle] templates for libo_ui update to fix typos/copy'n'paste errors

2014-01-06 Thread Christian Lohmaier
Hi *,

I updated the templates with the fixes that were reported on the list
and that Andras did apply to the repository, specifically

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?h=libreoffice-4-2&id=7e78ca35dd80d2330cfc4e6ede7a1139b136a673

I also triggered the update_against_templates.

It afffects the newly added strings in the smath-sidebar where there
were typos / errors.

Translations for rc2 will be fetched from pootle at around 11:00 UTC -
but don't worry if you don't update all strings for rc2, as there will
be a third one - deadline for that is Monday, January 20

Also as a pre-announcement: we'll be updating pootle in the week after
that, (after deadline for 4.1.5, which is Monday, Jan 27). So pootle
will not be available for a few hours during that time, but there'll
be a separate announcement with more details.

Sorry for the delay - I redid the deletion/resyncing of the langauge
against the project, so that the download should now work. I also
triggered the update_against_templates, so the new strings as shown in
previous posts should show up.

(and I guess you already know, as you updated new files already :-))

That's too bad, I don't think pootle exports the suggestions into the po files

As I don't know what files/strings are affected by this, I
unfortunately cannot help myself.

I uploaded the po files that were created right before applying the
new update here:
http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/tmp/2013-01-03/libo_ui/

So please download the po file from that URL, and then (depending on
how much strings are missing) either upload that file to pootle to add
back those translations, or just look at the file in your text-editor
and copy'n'paste the translation into pootle.

If it is about strings that already had been translated, using the
translation memory server might be a shortcut to get back the old
strings.
Unfortunately current browsers block scripts from http URLs, when the
current page is viewed via https - so you have to look for an icon in
your browser's tool/location bar that lets you whitelist the
translation server.
In Chromium it is a shield icon at the right-hand side in the location
bar, left to the bookmark-star.
In firefox it is at the left of the URL (see e.g.
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-does-content-isnt-secure-affect-my-safety
)

It is not clear what backup you're referring to - the one I took
before updating, or your own - In any case: The file-upload to pootle
lets you specify whether the file you upload should completely replace
the existing one, or whether the translations should be combined.

So when you choose "combine/merge", then the translations you did
after updating against the templates should be preserved.

Hope that helps,

If not, the only thing that might work is a database backup - but
extracting stuff from that likely is difficult / at least some hints
as to what file(s) are affected would help.

[libreoffice-l10n] [pootle] Templates update fo 4.2.0 (ui)

2014-01-03 Thread Christian Lohmaier
Hi *,

Some bugfixes after string-freeze:
(thanks to Andras for keeping an eye on that):

sc/source/ui/StatisticsDialogs.pot -- copy&paste fix
starmath/source.pot -- side panel tooltips
svtools/source/misc.pot -- only a changed ID
wizards/source/euro.pot -- Latvian Lats + renumbered identifiers

The major change is flagging the tooltips in math's sidebar as
translatable, so that is a bunch of new strings.

Latvia adopted Euro Currency, so the Euro-Converter got updated, so
that's why there's a new string introduced.

In Numbers:

sc/source/ui/StatisticsDialogs.pot |6 +-
starmath/source.pot| 2018
-
svtools/source/misc.pot|6 +-
wizards/source/euro.pot| 17 +-

Around 560 words changed.

http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/tmp/2013-01-03.diff.html
(plaintext diff: just omit the .html)

To avoid pootle picking translations from other projects, I'll trigger
the update from the commandline for all languages

I create backup of current pootle state right before updating against
the templates.

Yes, as written in earlier mails to the list, the po files that were
exported from pootle just before updating the templates are in the
libreoffice translations git repository and can be fetched from there.

I restored sfx/source/dialog.po - that's where that link pointed to is
located. If there are more problems, please just download and upload
them yourself

quoting myself:
"In case pootle should misbehave and replace your translations by
another language in some files, please reupload the corresponding po
files from

(or your local backup)"

It is OK - as I don't update pots where all that changed is that timestamp.

I.e. you can read the date as a "last changed" date. As creation date
is meaningless (IMO) and the real info is when did the content change.

Sorry, no idea about the history of those function/no idea which one

I can only tell you that if you don't change the translation of one of
those, then one will end up untranslated/with the English string.

GAMMA, CHISQDIST, CHISQINV have been introduced back in 2008. That

At least with 4.2 branch translations, there are no pocheck-related

There might be some in 4.1 one, but nothing is missing from my report.

Re: [libreoffice-l10n] finding key-ID in UI ?

> the UI ?

Search it in pootle, and have a look at the context-line / the filepath.

That will give you at least the modue (writer, calc,) and often
enough the name of the dialog.l

If it is a .ui file, then it is a new style (aka glade) dialog that
you can open in glade without having to click through the menus, if it
is an old dialog, you should get some idea by the filename as to what
functionality it corresponds to.

> (I have some guidance of course from the Context of course, such as "
> linetabpage.ui FT_CAP_STYLE label string.text" but that's still a puzzle..)

Nah, in this case it is relatively easy - as it is a glade dialog

So look for the file linetabpage.ui in your installation (either use
"find /path/to/lo -name linetabpage.ui" or "locate linetabpage.ui" or
whatever file search your system provides)

It also tells you that the string is a label, i.e. a textfield in the
dialog that is non-editable by the user, but only a description field.
The ID hints to having something to do with CAPs (i.e. ending graphics
of lines (as it is is in a dialog that is about lines (line tab page)
- if the latter is not clear/obvious, it will be once you open the
dialog itself.

So use
GLADE_CATALOG_SEARCH_PATH=/path/to/lo/share/glade glade
/path/to/lo/share/config/soffice.cfg/cui/ui/linetabpage.ui to open the
dialog in glade.

Click on the "Caps" label/textfield in the dialog. This will select
the UI-element in the hierarchy and lets you confirm that that label
really has the ID "FT_CAP_STYLE" and thus is the one you were looking
for.

Alternatively use Glade's widget-search box and search for
"FT_CAP_STYLE" - that does it the opposite way. you select the ID in
the hierarchy and it will highlight the element in the dialog.

Instead of using glade, you can also try to deduce what dialog that is
in LibreOffice.

It is about lines, thus open up Draw, draw a line, select it and use
contextmenu → Line. While this doesn't give you the exact element
directly, hopefully there will only be one element in that dialog that
has the value that is given in pootle as the source/translation text.

HTH,

ciao
