I haven't noticed that but when I look at my 7th and 8th great grandparents,
their relationship is mark 7th great grandfather+ I am unsure what the +

I've reported a number of issues/errors about how Legacy handles relationships
but have just come across another strange occurrence. I have all my 4th Great
Grandparents entered and one entered recently now shows on family view as 'Wife
of 4th Great-Grandfather' rather than '4th Great-Grandmother' as are all the
others. He only had one spouse and all their children show correctly. I've done
a check/repair. Has anyone else seen this?

genealogy program but have seen no indication when the problems of incorrect
relationships will be fixed.

If it's working as it should it would mean there is more than one relationship.

[LegacyUG] Live or Temple Ordinances

2014-03-14 Thread Ron Taylor
For quite some time I have noticed that the LDS Baptism and Confirmation
locations default to the wrong setting.  This is happening also with data
pulled from Family Tree with LegacyFS.  If one of those ordinance dates is
during the life of the individual, then the "Live" button should be set.  If
done after the death of the individual then the "Temple" button should be set.
If done prior to age 8 of the individual or after the current date it is an
error and should probably be detected by Potential Problems in the LDS tab.
Likewise, the incorrect location setting should be reported in the LDS
Potential Problems.  The following SQL scripts only fix ordinances that have
dates recorded.

More work is needed to
1) identify sealings that were done for children that should have been recorded
as BIC.
2) sealed to parents without having the parents sealed as spouses.
3) detect ordinances done before age 8.
4) ordinances performed the same day in different temples.
5) several other combinations that might prove beneficial to report in
Potential Problems.

This SQL script will correct the "Live" Baptism if birth and death dates are
recorded.

UPDATE tblIR SET tblIR.BaptismKind = 0
WHERE tblIR.IDIR>0 And tblIR.BirthSD>0 And
tblIR.DeathSD>0
And tblIR.BaptismSD>tblIR.BirthSD And
tblIR.BaptismSD0 And tblIR.BirthSD>0 And
tblIR.DeathSD>0
And tblIR.ConfirmationSD>tblIR.BirthSD And tblIR.ConfirmationSD0 AND tblIR.DeathSD>0
AND tblIR.BaptismSD>tblIR.DeathSD
AND tblIR.BaptismKind=0;

This SQL script will correct the "Temple" Confirmation if death date is
recorded.

UPDATE tblIR SET tblIR.ConfirmationKind = 1
WHERE tblIR.IDIR>0 AND tblIR.DeathSD>0
AND tblIR.ConfirmationSD>tblIR.DeathSD
AND tblIR.ConfirmationKind=0;

If BaptismKind=0 then IDTRBaptism points to the Location Record in tblLR
If BaptismKind=1 then IDTRBaptism points to the Temple Record in tblTR
If ConfirmationKind=0 then IDTRConfirmation points to the Location Record in
tblLR
If ConfirmationKind=1 then IDTRConfirmation points to the Temple Record in tblTR

I did not find any of the location pointers in error in my databases but there
is a possibility for that error.  The SQL scripts might include
tblIR.IDTRBaptism = 1 or tblIR.IDTRConfirmation = 1 to clear erroneous
ordinance locations when Live is switched to Temple or vice versa.  Then the
location would have to be re-entered if possible.

These scripts corrected over 35,000 of these errors in my large database so the
problem is significant.

It would be great if it could be fixed or if I'm doing something incorrectly,

[LegacyUG] Problems with Check / Repair

2014-03-14 Thread Kathryn Wallace
I am running Windows 7, 64 bit and at this point am still using :Legacy
7.5.0.278. I am ready to try out version 8 and started the process,
backing up my file but when I went to do the File Maintenance - Check /
Repair I got the Error 91 message - Error rebuilding indexes - Error 81
Object variable or with block variable not set.I tried it several times
before quitting.

I have then re-set Legacy's temporary file folder - tried Check / Repair
again - same result>

I have also tried exporting records into a new Legacy family file

Any suggestions?

RE: [LegacyUG] Pressing escape in Notes exited and lost my added typing

2014-03-14 Thread C.G. Ouimet
There are three possibilities throughout v8 with the Exc key ...

1. Exit without warning
2. Exit with warning
3. Nothing

Keyboard users need to use caution due to these inconsistencies and others like
my favourite beef with tab orders in the various windows ...

The mouse is safer which is really unfortunate ... I tend to be 50/50
mouse/keyboard which is fine in all apps except Legacy.

Confirmed. Problem report raised to have this fixed. I also found several other
screens where the Escape Key closed the screen without warning and allowing the
user to save their changes so I added those to the issue.

2014-03-14 Thread Norma
I tried as you suggested by running File Maintenance/Check repair and
immediately got an error 3022 message and wouldn't continue until I solved
error 3022. When I go to the Legacy error board it tells me to update my
Legacy to the latest version 7.5.0.278 (I am currently on 7.5.0.112).
Instructions for doing this suggest I review guidelines at:
http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/helpWindows7andVista.asp before downloading
onto Windows 7 PC. But then when I click on this link I get an server error
message "404: file or directory not found" Error 3022 seems to refer to an
issue in the marriage files so perhaps that is where my extra person is hiding
w/o his/her RIN but I have no idea how to find him/her.

Any ideas?

Re: [LegacyUG] Pressing escape in Notes exited and lost my added typing

2014-03-14 Thread Brian/Support
Confirmed. Problem report raised to have this fixed. I also found
several other screens where the Escape Key closed the screen without
warning and allowing the user to save their changes so I added those to
the issue.

Brian and Michele

Thanks for your instructions. Figured there was a simple way to get
back to the 4 color setup. Cathy

Re: [LegacyUG] Ancestor Colors

2014-03-14 Thread Brian/Support
You are seeing the two colour boxes because Legacy 8 now allows you to
set two starting people for the ancestor colours. When a person is in
both lines they will have two colours in their box. The pale colour is
for the ancestors of the first person, the darker colour is for the
ancestors of the second. If you set both groups to start at the same
person then everyone with a coloured box will have two colours.

Go to Tools > Set Ancestor Colours
Select the Ancestor Group 2 tab
Click Clear all Group to colours
That will remove the second set of colours on your boxes.
Select the Ancestor Group 1 Tab
Set the starting person you want to use for the ancestor colours if
his/her name is not already shown
Select track four grandparents option
Click apply the Group 1 Colours

To reset to the default ancestor colours
Click the Edit Colours button
Click the Reset button and choose Reset to Legacy defaults

Cathy,

Tools > Ancestor Colors

Click on the Ancestor Group 1 tab then Clear All Group 1 Colors

Click on the Ancestor Group 2 tab then Clear All Group 2 Colors

Go back to the Ancestor Group 1 tab, put your starting person in the box,
select Track the Four Grandparents’ lines with Four Colors and then Click Apply
the Group 1 Colors.

That should do it!

I was checking out the various ancestor colors and testing what they would look
like in the pedigree chart. Now I am unable to get them back to my original
setting which was Group 1, track 4 grandparents with 4 colors. I'd like to
keep 4 colors for now, since my hard files are set up this way.

The name boxes in the pedigree chart are in 8 colors two-tone with light on the
left side and the dark tone on the right side (split down the middle of the
box). Is this a programming error or is there something I can do on my end?

2014-03-14 Thread Pierre Simoneau
In Legacy version 7.5 and before, there was a warning "Are you sure you want
to exit" YES or NO.
A suggestion was made.
