Yes I have (and with success) (lyx1.1.6fix3). Maybe there is an error in the *.layout file? Sometimes this happened to me and I wondered until I started LyX from a terminal window and saw the error messages... To tackle down the problem, we need more precise information: What errors do appear? Do you see the class in the Layout->Document->Doc-classes list? Do new environments apprear in the Paragraph-Style list (on the toolbar) (in case the new layout defines some)? Does the file open? What errors do you get opening? What errors do you get compiling? Re: configuring class files
my layout file with class is not detected. In the website for installing layouts he has given that i have to go to ./lyx and type configure. But there is no file configure there. Instead I went to /usr/share/lyx and found configure there. Now the layout file is in these folders ./lyx/layout and /usr/share/lyx/layout and my class file is in /usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/base/ What do i have to do to get this class file installed. Also i have a bibtex file which i have inserted into this lyx file but when i go to insert citations there are no keys corresponding to this file present. Is this also a problem with the class and layout file. Please help soon and thanks for the help given till now. is there any problem in lyxfix1.1.6fix.rpm. That is the version i have installed. Also, put the *.layout file in ~/.lyx/layouts/ (also e.g. /home/kars175/.lyx/layouts) and reconfigure again. > I then gave texhash and opened lyx and reconfigured. Would it have something to do with latex which > was installed along with my redhat 7.1 > karthik You could ask your friend for a *.tex version of his/her thesis and try to run this without LyX to see whether the class is properly installed. (or just run a minimal latex-example that uses this class.) The next step would be to see if LyX sees the class (look at the configure output as described in the preceeding answers). configuring class files
I have a .cls and a .layout file. My friend has typed a thesis in the layout given by the files. When i try to open the thesis it says unknow file.layout and open with a lot of errors. I have stored the class file in /usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/base/ and the layout file in root/.lyx/templates. I then gave texhash and opened lyx and reconfigured. After this i clsoed lyx and opened it again. Then on opening the thesis file it gave me the missing class error and opened with a lot of error tags. Please can someone help me on this.
