The 722.6 dipstick tool measures the fluid level from the bottom of the pan, instead of from the top of the tube like a normal dipstick. If you don't want to wait for one from Amazon, you can go down to West Marine and buy a chunk of 1x19 stainless rigging wire, just needs to be long enough to reach the bottom of the pan. Then measure the length of the wet part of the wire. I don't see the red lock pins for the dipstick tube cap anywhere locally except the dealer, Autozone catalogs them but doesn't stock them in the stores near me. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Re: [MBZ] Nannies [was: Re: I'm thinking about this. CARFAX???]
My wife’s 2012 ML did not have the towing option so I put a hitch on it for a bike rack. If you want lights and to actually tow something the controller and connecter and light cable all need to be Benz parts to talk to the head nanny that monitors braking and stability and whatever else so the light don’t freak it out, and something hanging off the back doesn’t make it do untoward things. It’s like a $2k deal to get it all set up, I think the box is maybe $1100. So that’s a 164, the 163 might not have smart enough nannies to care. --R Sent from iPhone > On Aug 24, 2018, at 4:55 PM, Mitch Haley via Mercedes > wrote: > > > OK, so what are these nannies that you supposedly have to pay a fortune to > disable so you can tow a trailer? > > I found this that says newer trucks automatically disable the lane keeping > feature when you plug in a trailer: > https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/road-tests/a10159528/the-mercedes-benz-gls450-is-a-shockingly-capable-tow-vehicle/ > > And I found this that says 2005-up S class and 2006-up ML class will have TSA > to help them tow better: > https://media.daimler.com/marsMediaSite/en/instance/ko/Mercedes-Benz-Trailer-Stability-Assist-TSA-Trailer-towing-made-safe.xhtml?oid=9904683 > > ___ > http://www.okiebenz.com > > To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ > > To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: > http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com > ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Do not use M1 in this transmission. Use Valvoline TransMax. M1 is not approved in the BEVO for 722.6xx transmissions. -D > On Aug 24, 2018, at 10:53 AM, Curt Raymond via Mercedes > wrote: > > I'd go right ahead and change the fluid and filter no matter what. Re: [MBZ] I'm thinking about this. CARFAX???
Gerry's got a good point, I think there were two relatively simple / cheap fixes, the conductor plate and some other connection on the trans where the o-ring fails and allows ATF to wick up into the wiring bundle and cause havoc. It has also been mentioned that a weak battery will cause a low voltage condition which manifested as transmission problems, so monitoring the electrical system / measuring the system voltage when cold and comparing to the "hot enough that the tranny dies" may be worth keeping in mind. - Max Charleston SC On Fri, Aug 24, 2018 at 5:52 AM archer75--- via Mercedes < mercedes@okiebenz.com> wrote: > I seem to remember someone saying that most problems with ??
