Though there may be one or two credible article they publish, that is far 
outweighed by the preponderance of highly biased and corrupt reporting 
throughout their rag.  As a person who subscribes and reads any of the legacy 
media broadsheets or magazines regularly will come to realize, there is a 
taint, a slant and management of messaging within the pages.  The same yellow 
journalism is found broadcast daily.

Some choose to drink that Kool-Aid.  I fully understand how messaging results 
in horrors.  Dad got called out to assist with the debacle of November 1978 in 
Guyana while stationed in Caracas.  He came back from that a very different 
person and spoke rarely of it.  What he did say was not to believe what those 
in charge are telling you.  Narratives and the truth are not the same.  Living 
in Venezuela served well to re-enforce his warnings.  All is not as it seems, 
and the press is a tool for populace control.

CDC was in a no-win situation. If they warned everyone about the pandemic
and urged physical distancing/masking it would be politically unpopular.
If more cautious they would be criticized as the death toll mounted.

That is a reasonable question. I tend to think that had they been allowed
to do what they wanted to do, based upon their expertise in this area,
rather than being micromanaged at every turn by people with no formal
training in medicine, public health, or any other form of scientific
endeavor, that things would have been very different in terms of the course
of this epidemic and its magnitude. We have lots of examples of countries
that had a strong centralized government response, and did far better than
we have in terms of deaths per 100k.

For you, it was probably the best decision. Someone else may have had a 
successful go at it. Being a landlord is not for everyone. You have to be fair 
but extremely firm. A bit of a d*ck even. That, and the laws in your locale may 
not favor landlords or property owners, and the laws can be changed at a 
politician's whim. The recent moratorium on evictions is a good example. I'm 
sure some states and municipalities have statutes in place that do not allow 
winter evictions, so some property owners are going to be out nearly a years 
rent.

If I was in Kaleb's shoes, one of those properties would be gone. That said, 
there may be other reasons he can't currently sell.

less than three days after we listed it. Four offers, three full price. Closed 
in less than 30 days, at the end of March. Used a fixed price listing service 
($700) and only paid the buyer’s agent 2%. You would have been proud.

hearing all the horror stories about renters, I feel extremely lucky to

My resting sat is 95% also.

If I think about exhaling fully through my mouth, it shoots up to 
97-98%, but 99% just doesn't happen for me.


I wonder what it was like back when my resting pulse was down around 40?
Back then my vision would sometimes black out from simply standing up 
quickly after sitting in a Lazy-Boy for a while.

back when COVID started. I notice about 95% resting (watching TV) but 95-97%

The better sensors have a little waveform graph. It has to have a smooth
sinusoidal pattern to get a good reading.

In hospital, we say everything over 92% is fine. Around 90% and lower, there
is a sigmoidal relationship between the hemoglobin saturation and the
partial pressure of oxygen. This helps the blood cells/hemoglobin rapidly
give up its oxygen when the blood gets to the peripheral capillaries:

What it means in practice is that you don't want to be 90 or lower. That
would be abnormal for sure. 95-97 not a big deal. Parts of the lung actually
collapse when we are sedentary for example, leading to lower
(95-97) readings, and when we exert ourselves and breathe deeper/harder we
recruit those areas of the lung again. So you could be 97 then climb a
flight of stairs and be 99.

I remember way back in the old days when I was a kid going to this guy who 
basically had a portable building right on the side of rt 66. We always went 
there for batteries and he has batteries all over the ground outside and that 
building was full of batteries. I think he rebuilt them there and sold them.

I just cannot commit to another mailing list. I don't mean to inflame any
sensibilities. Someone asked about whether the CDC was incompetent or not,
so the article was a belated response to that.

Right now I am figuring out whether the wings are going to fall off an
airplane I am considering building. I should be out working on the
turbocharger setup for the 606. And helping the guys put the sod down on
the yard. Anyway it is hard to see committing to another mailing list, as
much as I might enjoy it. I did look for the link one time and didn't
figure out how to subscribe.

The better sensors have a little waveform graph. It has to have a smooth
sinusoidal pattern to get a good reading.

In hospital, we say everything over 92% is fine. Around 90% and lower,
there is a sigmoidal relationship between the hemoglobin saturation and the
partial pressure of oxygen. This helps the blood cells/hemoglobin rapidly
give up its oxygen when the blood gets to the peripheral capillaries:

What it means in practice is that you don't want to be 90 or lower. That
would be abnormal for sure. 95-97 not a big deal. Parts of the lung
actually collapse when we are sedentary for example, leading to lower
(95-97) readings, and when we exert ourselves and breathe deeper/harder we
recruit those areas of the lung again. So you could be 97 then climb a
flight of stairs and be 99.

Fun cars in good shape.  I junked mine, there was so much rust below the 
belt-line it wasn't repairable.  Even the doors were rusted eight inches up.

Plus it got 14 mpg to and from work, premium only (rattled badly on mid grade). 
 

Only 2000 every registered in the US, probably a dozen left in running 
condition due to the rust issues.

California at the time and most of that week I felt like crap.  I never 
had a cough but felt like I had a fever and was somewhat strange and out 
of the blue.

I think that's still the treatment. Two of my boys had it, one brought
it home from school at Thanksgiving break, the other presumably got it
from him. They tested positive for COVID but had mild cases, worst of it
was a sore throat that felt like strep for a couple of days.

I have been supplementing Vitamin D, C, and Zinc since March, for
whatever that has been worth, I never developed any symptoms. We didn't
take any particular precautions in the house, though the sick ones spent
most of their time in their rooms.

Yes, I saw that, haven't looked to closely at the side effects of that
drug.  I took HCQ for a few months once when I was on a ship going down to
central and southern America, so I know that I tolerate that well.

However, at my age and state of health, the Wuhan Red Death is really a
very small threat, probably my daily commute was more dangerous before all
the lockdown business started.  I am not interested in a prophylaxis, but I
do like to know my treatment options should the need arise.

I got lucky in April.
Needed IVM for heartworm preventative, and saw it selling out at Amazon 
and online pet pharmacies. WTF? Oh, news about IVM and COVID...
Found a farm store in Missouri selling it on eBay that hadn't raised its 
prices yet. Got a bottle. Next morning they were sold out.

Watched the first episode last night. Wife had seen it already and said I would 
be pissed after I saw it. I was. Why couldn’t the French have just left them 
alone after WWII and ditched the colonialism thing? The Vietnamese were all 
ready to do their own thing as they had in the past, no need for some other 
nation state to stand over them and tell them how things are done.

Like most of Ken Burns’ stuff, it was well done. Looking forward to the next 
episode.

We were both convinced we had it in February, as we had sore throats, flu-like 
symptoms, etc. I did an antibody test in August or September and it was 
negative, so I’m guessing that means I didn’t have it.
