In my Saturn, it can go all winter with the temp blend knob at max. After I've driven a mile, the fan goes on low. After another mile or two to finish warming the car up, it goes on high. Then as the cabin warms up, it goes back to off within ten miles and heats adequately for the rest of the freeway commute with natural airflow. When I start it again, it'll already be in the desired startup position of no cold air blending and no fan. [MBZ] A deer attacked my windshield
...on the Saturn Ion tonight. Idiot came running full speed into my fender, tried to jump over the car, shattered my windshield, mirror (Can't believe a TYC power mirror assembly is under $50 shipped and taxed from Rockauto) and plastic A pillar. Actually, it did succeed in jumping over the car, landed in the ditch on the right side of the road after hitting the left side of my car and getting a boost upwards from the windshield. Re: [MBZ] OT: E- powered plane with 500 mile range
Kind of flat on the bottom, is that a lifting body fuselage? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjPO4_oe5h8 The FAA requires reams of data before a new aircraft leaves the ground, and when I visited, Bar-Yohay was putting Alice through its paces, accelerating to speeds just short of those required for flight. Eviation expects to complete runway tests this winter and anticipates Alice’s first flight this spring. The company will then build three sister aircraft to complete close to 2,000 hours of flight time before the plane is fully certified. Getting Alice to this moment has been a trial by fire, all too literally. Eviation’s first prototype debuted to rave reviews at the Paris Air Show in 2019, but in early 2020, a fire in the lithium-ion battery pack destroyed that aircraft. The lesson was as valuable as it was painful. The Eviation team redesigned the power system to ensure that a single failed battery cell can’t spark a packwide failure, and the plane can complete a safe, powered landing. (Consumer comfort with battery safety poses an ongoing challenge; a Nature review warns starkly, “It is difficult to overemphasize current concerns with lithium batteries on commercial aircraft.”) https://www.aviationacrossamerica.org/news/2022/04/19/how-do-you-make-an-airplane-climate-friendly-start-by-shaping-it-like-a-whale/ ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

That wasn't just a 427, it was a supercharged Super Snake. Carroll built two of those, cars which you might be able to drive on normal roads if you have as much racing experience as, say, Carroll Shelby. If you're a professional comedian, no way. IIRC somebody bought Bill's car and very quickly wrecked it. Imagine getting pulled over for going 190 miles per hour in a genuine 1965 car, a crudely built one at that. Here's the story I was thinking of: https://www.hotcars.com/shelby-cobra-427-super-snake-costs-facts-and-figures/ The second Super Snake, CSX3033, was built from a street Cobra rather than a competition model and would see a more tragic fate. A friend of Shelby's at the time, this second Super Snake was given to now-disgraced comedian Bill Cosby. Returning the car not long after, Cosby claimed he was terrified of the Super Snake's brutal power and aggressive driving characteristics, though it did inspire his 1968 album "200 MPH" with an entire skit dedicated to the car. Sold in 1969 to a car dealer in San Francisco, a customer named Tony Maxey purchased CSX3033 that year. Sadly, the ultimate Cobra was just too much of a monster, and Maxey lost control of it, driving off a cliff, killing him, and totaling the car - though it was restored and resides in a private collection today. As for the fate of CSX3015, Shelby's personal Super Snake has seen much attention as of late, as it was auctioned at Barrett-Jackson once more in March of 2021, selling for $5.5 million yet again. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
