Ouch! Did the skipper turn to port to make the mast fall overboard instead
of onto the cockpit and crew? I think not, I think that idiot was trying
to "beat the bridge" and lost. Badly.

Michelin builds tars here in the great state of Salkerlina so it ain't
all frogs makin em.  I don't know if they build car tars up there, but I
know they build those monster off-road tars that are like 16ft diameter
and won't fit in a container, so they have containers with open tops
that they can get like 3 in.  I guess they stack them on the top layer
on the ships, I always wonder if they have had any fall out.  They have
to route the trucks hauling them down not the most direct way, to fit
under bridges I guess.

Just checked with Costco.

Bzzzt!! Wrong! Unless you buy a branded tire (Kirkland?) made
specifically for the warehouse, the brand name tires are identical to
the same name tire sold elsewhere. Also, the warranty booklet says
you can have the tire repaired or replaced by any Michelin approved
tire shop. No exclusivity to Costco.

Just to be sure I got the SKU for my tire and was able to find the
exact same tire using the SKU on Tire Rack and elsewhere.

Nearly every online reference I saw to the subject was at least five

That's not really "use of a torque wrench". If that technique was
tried anyplace but a tire shop it would be condemned!

Use the impact wrench set to it's lowest setting to spin the nuts
until they touch the rim. Use the torque wrench to torque them.

I guess expecting a tire shop to correctly use their tools is too
optimistic...

As I understand, the torque limiting extension sockets really
work. My issue is I grease the lugs, so the dry torque spec. is
way too much. In general, I do all the tire work myself.

What I like is when they use a rattle gun with a torque limiting extension on
it, then check it with a clicker. If it clicks without turning the lug, they
think it's spot on. If I had a tire shop, every rattle gun would have a 60lb
limiting extension brazed onto it.

Bear in mind that cosco, deadsams or wally land Mitchelins are not REAL
mitchelins. Only cosco will warranty yours.

I will not buy any tars from any of those places unless it is an emergency.

I had a flat on Monday morning.

Drove out of the garage, turned on to the street, noticed that the car
seemed to be pulling to the let a bit. Pulled over, stopped, got out
and took a look. Left front tire was flat as a board. I had driven
close to a block on it, so I’m sure I probably trashed it. Tires that
were on the car were expensive Michelins that had date codes from
about 6-7 years ago, and were starting to dry rot on the edges as
Michelins seem to be prone to doing in this climate. Too bad, as they
had a decent amount of tread left on them. The spare was the same set
and brand new. Still had the stickers on the tread.

Checked my Tires Plus guys for deals, nothing going there. I have been
using Falkens on my cars of late and been quite pleased with the value
to wear ratio, so I figured I would go that route. On a whim I looked
at Costco. WOW! They had a Michelin deal going with $70 off a set of
four tires and $0.01/tire installation. It ended that day, so I went
there on the way home and bought a set of Michelin MXs for $501.00 out
the door installed.

I would have spent near that for the Falkens, so I figured I would go
for the Michelins.
