[mythtv-users] problem exporting recordings to Divx for portable
I've recently bought an Archos Gmini 400, which looks as if it will be a great complement to my mythtv system. However, I'm having problems with audio syncronisation with files exported to divx using Nuvexport. The Audio is ahead of the video by a second or 2 if I play the file in Winamp, or on the archos itself. The file plays absolutely fine in Windows Media Player, or Mplayer. I have tried various settings including the Nuvexport defaults for divx, and some settings recommended in a previous post (cif format I recall) I'd really like to use Nuvexport as I want to use cutlists to remove the rubbish. Nuvexport is exporting to DVD quite happily these days, and quickly, and I don't want to break that. BTW nuvexport is using ffmpeg. I have also found a script on www.gmini400.com which exports using mencoder and transcode, but at the moment that just garbles the video. I have been trying to get nuv2avi to compile, and have noted the comments about including the path to lame.h in the makefile, but I'm in stupid mode at the moment, as I cannot get it to compile, but Nuvexport would be the preferred option. I think that ffmpeg may be exporting the audio using VBR, where as the archos wants a constant bit rate, but I cannot find an option to force ffmpeg. Thanks in advance for any ideas and assistance. RE: [mythtv-users] Shopping for an HDTV for Myth
I have a DLP too, but it's not a Samsung. The DLP chips are all made by TI and there are a few variations. The HD2 was pretty much the original and it's basically a plain jane 720p native chip. It's what's in mine and I absolutely love it. Black levels could be better and the red and greens are over done even after adjustments but it's basically a crystal clear 56 1280x720 computer screen. While mine is no longer made (Gateway of all things) it has precious little overscan, another feature to watch out for. Less is better imo, the Gateway has an almost perfect amount. I think Costco is selling a rebranded version of this TV for ~2500 though that was awhile ago. The newer TI HD# chips like the HD3 are not true 720p chips, they are like half that resolution but they vibrate at double the normal rate to produce 720p using some funky technique. The advantages to these new chips are less of a screen door effect inbetween the pixels and better black levels. I am not sure how this would look as a computer screen, sounds sort of fishy to me, I would check one out in person before I thought about using it as a htpc. The newer models also have an improved color wheel for a lessened rainbow effect, but I never see that anyways. Take anything I said with a grain of salt as I could be mistaken on some things, it's just my cursory understanding of the DLP market. As has been recommended the AVS forum is the place to go. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Jack Heneghan Sent: Saturday, March 12, 2005 10:47 PM To: Discussion about mythtv Subject: Re: [mythtv-users] Shopping for an HDTV for Myth I believe all the Samsungs are based on the same DLP chip. Re: [mythtv-users] New System Hardware Recommendations
The email from Maverick yesterday detailed what he bought, based on the Jarod's Standard Definition Slave Backend and Playback System says this: Chaintech 7NIF2 Athlon XP 2700+ 2x 256MB DRAM PC3200 Samsung 160GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive, Model SP1614C SilverStone Lascala SST-LC11 HTPC Case PVR-350 I think I'm going to put the pictures of my install together and do a write up about it. Hardware seems to be a common question on this list, but there's not too many detailed lists of exactly what worked for people (well, there's the mythtv hardware database, but I found it less than helpful). I found Jarod's list of his hardware specifics very helpful, in fact, I got the same motherboard because I assumed if he has TVout working on it, then I could get it to work... If I did the above again, being a couple weeks later in the every changing computer hardware world, I'd get the Chaintech 7NIF4 (+SATA!!), and the SATA version of the Samsung 160gb drive. Mainly for the convenience of small cables. I might upgrade my board anyway and just sell the one I have on ebay for $50 or something, it's only 2 weeks old... ;) Another thing, the newer board supports Sempron too, which are ?cheaper? than XP's... What would be kick ass is a version of that board with DVI out! Re: [mythtv-users] Some Fedora Myth(TV)ology notes...
Jarod, I have to say that when I've followed your guide, I've had pretty good results (a very big thank you for compiling that information!). On my system, I get pre-buffering pauses about every half-hour, and always a couple of them very quickly just after starting watching LiveTV (though I don't seem to notice any when playing back previously recorded shows). However, I suspect that this is my underlying cable system - I haven't brought home a cable analyzer from work yet, but my cable modem is showing me some pretty pathetic numbers in terms of an upstream value (39 dBmV, which isn't too bad) and the SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) (29.4, it should be at least 35). Right now, I'm running 2.6.10-1.760_FC3 with no ill-effects, other than that XvMC just doesn't want to work at all (I either get massive stuttering, or the image just freezes). Not a big deal, since I don't need it, but I was playing around with some of the solutions in that MX4000 thread. -- Joe --- Jarod Wilson [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: On Saturday 12 March 2005 20:23, Rob Greene wrote: Now I've just got the skipping/stuttering when playing. Re: [mythtv-users] How I got great quality TV-out on my nVidia MX4000
Yeah, all those free-running components screwing things up. :) Then again, my Commodore 64 can't do MPEG-2, or else I'd have written a MythTV client in assembly for it already. :D Just to add my (so far) success story to this thread, I decided to take some of the suggestions and see what would happen. The first step was rebuilding the MythTV RPMs (from ATrpms) with OpenGL support. After about five rebuilds and much searching of the atrpms-devel mailing list (thanks to Jarod Wilson for posting his macros!), I got it working. XvMC is a bust, it doesn't seem to work on my machine (Athlon64, running in 32-bit mode, nVidia driver on a 5200FX), I just get a frozen image or massive stuttering. OpenGL support on its own helps out massively (on my system), the image (say, on CNN) doesn't jitter as much as when using either the DRM or RTC methods. Anyway, to conclude, my method: - MythTV 0.17 (from RPMs, with the frontend/backend RPMs recompiled) - Enable OpenGL vsync support (MythTV now shows Video timing method: SGI OpenGL) - No XvMC support (doesn't work) - Use libmpeg2 instead of ffmpeg (text doesn't seem as fat when using it) - Enable Bob deinterlacing - Turn on Use Video for Timebase - Changes to the nvidia-settings-rc file as described in the thread At the moment, it's looking pretty good, we'll see what happens once something with jagged lines (like a cartoon) comes in to see if Bob flickers like mad. Gees, I really need to stop watching this late night TV... When there's judges called Extreme Akim on the TV, well... Being able to know when the vertical sync is, and, 2. Being able to react to the vertical sync event in a timely manner There's a 3rd issue here. Most (all?) linux video cards run with a free-running clock. If you want to avoid beat frequency issues and tearing, you really want to have the mpeg stream itself trigger the card to send out a new vertical field. Otherwise, you have the MPEG stream running a 29.97Hz field rate, and the video card running at a close, but not phase/frequency locked rate of, say, 29.98Hz. That leaves a 0.01Hz beat frequency which can show up as screen tearing that moves slowly. I guess if you've got the VBI, you can do without this by simply using the blanking interval time as a time buffer. If the card runs too fast and the MPEG stream doesn't have another frame yet, show the old frame again. If the card runs too slowly and *another* frame is ready before the previous has been shown, drop it. As said before, the fundamental problem is that linux is not realtime (hard or even soft). -Cory * * Cory Papenfuss * * Electrical Engineering candidate Ph.D. graduate student * * Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University * * ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users __ Do you Yahoo!? They also seem to have changed the number of images in the animation from 6 to 5. To fix that you need to change the imagecount value in the weather-ui.xml file. Look for the animatedimage element and change the imagecount value from 6 to 5. Which weather-ui.xml file you need to change will depend on which theme you are using. I agree that the CPU is overkill for a PVR-350, but I also intend on using the built in nVidia TVout, as well as I'd like to do HDTV at Why not use the -350's TV-out? The 350's output is a hardware decoder for doing one thing, playing back mpeg (that it captures). It really doesn't support just decoding any and everything, and it's frame buffer is far slower than accelerated video cards. It is my understanding that playing HD content requires a normal video card output and cannot be done via a PVR-350. I've also heard issues of DVD playback being a problem on the '350's, but I don't know about that either. Again, no need, I have a separate dvd player... :) I could be wrong about the 350 and HD, but I'm pretty sure everyone doing HD has serious video acceleration stuff on their side, along with the CPU to back it up. What we really need is a pcHD3000 that has HD hardware decode (TVout) as well. That would rock! some point. I'm not even sure if the XP 2700 is enough for HD, but I hope it is. [mythtv-users] Re: Mythmusic and directory listing issues after upgrade
Hello all, I posted a note earlier today but it doesn't seem to have been sent to the list. I've had a very strange issue with Mythmusic since upgrading from 0.16 (Knoppmyth R4V4) to 0.17 (Knoppmyth R5V12). Most of the kinks I've managed to work out but this one has me stumped. I have a lot of records in my library stored as /mnt/hdb6/media/audio/GENRE/ARTIST/ALBUM/TRACK_TITLE. The settings all point to the right directory, Myth populates the database, and I can play the music. The issue is that previously the Play Music screen and the Select Music screen would show what they are meant to show -- e.g. All My Music - Blues - Buddy Guy - Best Of - 01 Damn Right I've Got the Blues.ogg Since upgrading, both of these screens instead show All My Music - Blues - Buddy Guy - Best of - 00 ~ Blues (the same for all tracks on the record). The song list for every album is now in the form of 00 ~ GENRE. In the settings, I have the tree listing set to 'directory' and the ID3 Ignore option selected, as I had in 0.16. I'm guessing that when Myth populates the music database, it puts information in the wrong tables, but I'm not all that familiar (read I don't know shit) about MySQL. Since this was a clean install, I dont see how putting the music in a new directory and refilling the database would help, although I haven't yet tried that.. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so how did you fix it? If I need to muck about with the MySQL files, how do I do it? Can anyone point me to a basic MySQL reference? Thanks in advance, Dewey If you are not familiar with MySQL probably the easiest way to check that your music files have been imported properly is to play a track then press the I or INFO key to display the metadata editor. If the values you see in the editor for artist, album, track etc are correct you know the track info has been imported correctly into the database. If they don't match up could you post an example to help track the problem down. In the MythMusic General Setting screen what value are you using in the Filename Format field. Also what happens if you change the Tree Sorting value to something like 'splitartist artist album title'. What file types are you using, I guess from your example .ogg. Are all your files the same file type. If not does the problem happen with all file types that you use? -- Joe My experience was that it would usually lock up the video stream with a constant barrage of 'prebuffering' errors on the console, but I could escape back, and then start live tv again, and it would usually start working, with a 'prebuffer' error every 15 seconds or so (with the corresponding hiccups). Occasionally, the second time going into watch live tv with hard lock the whole box and require a reboot. This got preogressively worse, so I switched to no XvMC and have not had any problems since (aside from when the ringbuffer fills the HD...) [mythtv-users] How I solved my PVR-350 hard lockup problem
Hi Guys, I just recently did some fiddling with my machine and - of course - created severe havoc and much domestic turmoil for days afterwards. The box would hard lock (hang) and have to be power cycled. Then it would hang again. There is seemingly no pattern to when these would happen. I could watch LiveTV for hours and then change channel and it would hang. I've fixed it now but I noticed plenty of other people having the same very frustrating problem. My theory is that perhaps there is a common factor in this and that is, my probably quite common, hardware configuration: * PVR-350 (250 probably the same) * EPIA board * SFF case with brick power supply What I did to cause the chaos was upgrade the hard drive from 80GB to 250GB. What I did to fix it was remove the hard drive altogether and boot the machine over the network (pxe, netboot). Now the machine is rock solid, records shows all evening, watches LiveTV, etc, etc. It's back to being the little box of joy in the corner! Basically, the power supply that I was using does not have the ability to keep the voltages high enough at all times to keep the machine happy. And this is a 90W supply I bought separately, not the 60W I got with the case - that was pretty much useless as the box regularly booted without ethernet (well know problem I believe). Anyway, what's my point? If you're having hard lockups, resets, etc. with a PVR-350 in a SFF PC can I suggest you try minimising the power consumption or using a much bigger power supply. At the moment I have a 90W with just an EPIA-M board and the PVR-350. No hard drive, no CD-ROM, no LCD etc. And my voltages are still a bit low, so 90W is probably still marginal, but it works, so now I'm going to leave it alone... Anyway, hope this helps someone. I could watch LiveTV for hours and then change channel and it would hang. I've fixed it now but I noticed plenty of other people having the same very frustrating problem. I am part of those. I thought about the power supply. Just a question: your machine seems to be a simple front end, no tuner/DVB card, correct? No it's a frontend and a slave backend, i.e. I'm using the 350 for recording. My board has *only* the PVR350, a 160G hard disk, a USB wireless key and a slim CDROM which I almost never use. This should fit with the small power supply I am using. It still crashed when I only had the disk and the tuner, no USB and no CDROM. So take the disk out next! And don't use a 60W power supply, use a 90W power supply at least. On the other side, many people believe the problem could be related to DMA. There's a thread about that here: http://forums.viaarena.com/messageview.aspx?catid=28threadid=60131START PAGE=1#391672 I did read about this during my time in purgatory, and I reckon there probably is a dma bug in the south bridge (to go along with all the other bugs). But, I have a stable 350 in a Epia-M 10k board and so do others. I used to have a 80GB hard drive in this box and it ran stable for about six months (I guess the total power draw was just about managable for my 90W supply). So I don't think that bug is the showstopper you think it is. Of course I could be wrong. I am also seeing a lot of DMA errors in the logs. You can check the ivtv-dev list for a post from me and other people with simlar issue. Admittedly, I don't get these. If you have time, could you try to put the disk back, but disable DMA (in BIOS and in OS)? I did try disabling DMA on the hard drive and it didn't solve my lockup problem. If they don't match up could you post an example to help track the problem down. They do not match up. It seems to be dropping the Album field, shifting the Title into the Album field, and shifting the Genre into the Title field. Here's the metadata for the example I used before: Artist: Buddy Guy Album: Damn Right I've Got the Blues [the name of track 1] Title: Blues [genre] Genre: Unknown Year: 0 Length: 00:00 The filename is /mnt/hdb6/media/audio/Blues/Buddy_Guy/Best_of/01_Damn_Right_I've_Got_the_Blues.ogg * Note: as I recall, I entered this one in manually and so I wouldn't have put a year in. I think the length used to be displayed automatically, but I don't remeber for sure. I tried changing tree sorting to 'spitartist artist album title' and the result was much the same. Selecting music would give me: All My Music - Artist (sort) - Artist - Track - Genre [where the last selection would be a single-item list of 00 ~ Blues'. I looked at a couple of other records and they all show the same format. The Filename Format field is: /GENRE/ARTIST/ALBUM/TRACK_TITLE. The directory to hold music is: /mnt/hdb6/media/audio. ID3 Ignore is selected. What file types are you using, I guess from your example .ogg. Are all your files the same file type. If not does the problem happen with all file types that you use? The files are a mix of ogg and mp3, but the result is the same for both formats. There is no problem seeing them or playing them, only displaying the data correctly. All the media is on a second hard drive that was not connected during the MythTV installation. Once the istallation was complete and the second drive mounted, Myth had no problem seeing the music and filling the database. I also have a number of video files on the same secondary hard drive, but populating the video database was no problem at all. Thanks again On Sun, 13 Mar 2005 14:31:43 -, Paul [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hello all, I posted a note earlier today but it doesn't seem to have been sent to the list. Re: [mythtv-users] How I got great quality TV-out on my nVidia MX4000
It is not available in many of the default MythTV builds, because it requires linking against an OpenGL library of some kind. Also, some time ago, when it was enabled by default, some people were having problems with it. If you're building from source, then you must edit settings.pro (look for opengl). If you're using Axel's ATrpms, then you need to recompile the MythTV source RPM, and reinstall the new binary RPMs that are generated, making sure to pass in whatever options that you need when compiling them (the default options worked for me). Once you have recompiled MythTV (as long as you stay with the same source release, you don't need to recompile the add-on programs), then it will automatically detect OpenGL support. There will be nothing in the GUI that allows you to turn it on or off. -- Joe --- Sigurd Nes [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Joe Votour wrote: - Enable OpenGL vsync support (MythTV now shows Video timing method: SGI OpenGL) Where did you find this option ? [mythtv-users] Incorrect scaling on 5:4 ratio display devices
My apologies if this is a duplicate, I sent this mail to the dev list more than a day ago, and haven't't seen it appear. Something seems to be wrong with the scaling code. I've got 5:4,16:10 and 16:9 display devices, and the DisplaySize set to reflect the correct ratio in the X* config files on the different machines. All content scales correctly on the 16:9 16:10 devices, but on the 5:4 displays, 4:3 content is stretched to full screen, and 16:9 content is stretched so its slightly to tall. It looks like the 5:4 ratio devices is incorrectly treated as 4:3 devices. This is with mythtv 0.17. Setting the aspect ratio in the menu doesn't change anything. Re: [mythtv-users] [OT] How may bytes available on a single layer DVD-R?
Not marketspeak anymore. Drive makers have been doing it long enough that it's not weird anymore, like it used to be. http://physics.nist.gov/cuu/Units/binary.html When computers work in base 10, then it stops being weird :-( -- Agreed. I know of the formalization of 2^10 = KiB, etc. I chose not to sound like an idiot utting the words Kibibyte and Mebibyte. Using invented words such as these confuse the people who are too ignorant to distinguish the difference, anyway. If they rolled off the tongue a bit easier (e.g. kilibyte and megibyte) I might be more receptive, but they just sound stupid and are in almost all cases, redundant. To quote from that page: It is important to recognize that the new prefixes for binary multiples are not part of the International System of Units (SI), the modern metric system. However, for ease of understanding and recall, they were derived from the SI prefixes for positive powers of ten. As can be seen from the above table, the name of each new prefix is derived from the name of the corresponding SI prefix by retaining the first two letters of the name of the SI prefix and adding the letters bi, which recalls the word binary. Similarly, the symbol of each new prefix is derived from the symbol of the corresponding SI prefix by adding the letter i, which again recalls the word binary. (For consistency with the other prefixes for binary multiples, the symbol Ki is used for 210 rather than ki.) So again, I maintain that a blank DVD-R hold 4.38 GB of data. -Cory (Flame on, Garth!) * * Cory Papenfuss* * Electrical Engineering candidate Ph.D. graduate student * * Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University * * ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users

Thanks in advance! What kernel RPM version are you running? For me, the 2.6.9 kernel RPMs worked fine. However, as of the 2.6.10 kernel RPMs, I had stuttering. Once I rolled back to a 2.6.9 kernel RPM, the stuttering went away. I believe the problem is that the voluntary preemptive kernel patch was removed from the kernel RPM starting with the 2.6.10 kernel. [mythtv-users] PVR-350 TV out problem
For the past couple of weeks I have been getting my first mythtv system up and running. Jarod's guide has been very good so far and I have good recordings, schedules, working going to the computer monitor. System specs: ASUS P5GD2 deluxe, 3.6GHz P4, 2GB ram, Hauppauge PVR-350, FC3 using ATRPMS mythsuite This weekend I picked up the S-video and other cables to connect the PVR-350 directly to the TV. Following the guide I ran the following test: modprobe saa7127 This results in the TV having evenly spaced horizontal lines over the entire screen. modprobe saa7127 test_image=1 does the same thing. I do not see the expected test image on the display. If I run the following test: dd if=/dev/video0 of=/dev/video16 bs=64k I get picture and sound to the TV but the horizontal lines are overlaying the picture. You can see the show between the lines. I searched back through the mailing list and found what sounded like similar problems. But changing the width options did not seem to make any difference. So which step in the guide did I miss? Trying to get the system prepared for the family room. At a minimum I need to get the video out working to the TV. Other problems can wait (need to get DMA working on the DVD drive and get the system to recognize when a DVD is put in the drive, but that is for another time.) [mythtv-users] How to configure for pcHDTV-3000 tuning plus bttv S-Video from old PVR
Hi, folks. I've got an old PVR that I want to keep using. It timeshifts the analog channels from cable and outputs S-Video and composite. I've got a new machine running KnopMyth R5A12, MythTV 0.17. It has a new pcHDTV and an older bttv. What I can't seem to find in the docs is how to configure the two tuners. I want the pcHDTV to do the normal PVR thing- timeshift the shows that are available that it can pick up (that would be the SDTV and HDTV broadcast channels from San Francisco). And I want the bttv card to let me watch the output from my old PVR (S-Video, I guess, but composite would work too). So how do I configure MythTV to deal with two tuners, one digital and one just for analog pass-thru. -- Tony Godshall ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users

[mythtv-users] Video (Quality/Size) Issues
Hello to All: My Setup: -Intel 2.4C HT -PVR 350 - GeForce 5200 - 256MB RAM - Sony 51 Widescreen HD, Rear Projection - FC2, myth .17, originally setup with Jarod's Guide I've struggled long and hard, but finally Myth is in my entertainment center! I'm having two main issues that are keeping me from cancelling my TiVo subscription: (FYI, I'm using the 350 for capture and the 5200 for TV Out. I was originally going to use the 350 for both, however the image quality as horrible out of the 350...) 1) It seems that the TV-OUT on the 5200 doesn't quite fill my screen. There are black borders all around the image. I'm pretty sure this isn't an X problem per-se... because even my grub screen has the same issue. This is pretty annoying-- any ideas/suggestions?? 2) The Image quality is just not where I want it to be. The lines seem a little blurred, and the colors are a touch washed out... it's *close*, but not quite there. Has anyone noticed this issue? Are there any fixes? I've tried to get the DVI on my 5200 to display on my Sony with no luck, and I'm hesitant to drop the $150 for the more Recent nVidia cards (with Component out) until I'm sure they'll make my video appear the way I want it to. Any and ALL suggestions for getting the quality I want are much appreciated! Re: [mythtv-users] Simultaneous S-video out-- pvr350 GFX card?
I believe it should be easy to do. What you can do is set up myth to use the graphics card all the time, then just check the box that says output to PVR-350 TV Out and that should only apply to video out (live TV and recordings). It might get confusing when switching back and forth from TV to menu, since the menu will be displaying on a different input (ie, when you exit from a recording or from watching live TV, it will just show a black screen until you switch to the other input). On Sun, 13 Mar 2005 14:00:35 -0600, Drew Zerdecki [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hello, Is it possible to have simultaneous video output from the Pvr-350 and my FX5200's TV out at the same time? I understand that I would need two s-video inputs on the TV. Is this possible? Is it wise? Re: [mythtv-users] command line firewire capture
Hi, Thanks. I got that squared away. And, that made the recording from myth work on at least one station. However, since watching TV doesn't work with an HDTV signal (I assume because my P4 2.4 is not enough to handle it) I can't browse to find out which stations work. Thus, I went back to trying out test-mpeg2 because I figured it would be simpler than setting 300 1 minute recordings 5 minutes apart... test-mpeg2 now just gives me a note saying that it is changing to channel 63. Maybe I'm not specifying the port correctly. In myth, recording works with Port 1 Node 2. How do I specify that with test-mpeg2? [mythtv-users] Re: Mythmusic and directory listing issues after upgrade
If you are not familiar with MySQL probably the easiest way to check that your music files have been imported properly is to play a track then press the I or INFO key to display the metadata editor. If the values you see in the editor for artist, album, track etc are correct you know the track info has been imported correctly into the database. If they don't match up could you post an example to help track the problem down. They do not match up. It seems to be dropping the Album field, shifting the Title into the Album field, and shifting the Genre into the Title field. Here's the metadata for the example I used before: Artist: Buddy Guy Album: Damn Right I've Got the Blues [the name of track 1] Title: Blues [genre] Genre: Unknown Year: 0 Length: 00:00 The filename is /mnt/hdb6/media/audio/Blues/Buddy_Guy/Best_of/01_Damn_Right_I've_Got_the_Bl ues.ogg snip I think I have found the problem. The metadata is extracted from the filename in the Metadata* MetaIO::readFromFilename() function in the metaio.cpp file. The problem is in the parameters passed to new Metadata(...) are passed in the wrong order. Actually the compilation_artist parameter has been left out. All you need to do is change the line: Metadata *retdata = new Metadata(filename, artist, album, title, genre, 0, tracknum, length); to: Metadata *retdata = new Metadata(filename, artist, , album, title, genre, 0, tracknum, length); and recompile and install. There is no entry in the XFree86.0.log for: (II) Loading extension XVideo The output of xvinfo is: no adaptors present I checked out the gatos site, but wasn't clear what to do with the info there.
