Re: ripping with windows media player
I rarely encountered this audio garbage when ripping to the WMA lossless format. It happened with about five or six discs in a row recently, so I began to think that there might be a problem with the media player or the pc. But I've gone back and re-ripped some of the cd's I ripped months ago, and they seem to be fine, so I'm hoping the bad discs wer an anomaly. Re: Seek to Time in Windows Media
I hather you didn't get an answer to your question. It doesn't appear that WMP has a junp or seak to time command. There is a seak bar you can tab to then navigate with the arrow keys. But, it only shows relitive values. Jaws sees it as a percent but it goes over 100%. I think Winamp can play Windows Media formats if you have recent versions. You probably have to change your file associations to keep built in players from using WMP. However, I don't know if you can do this or not. - Original Message - From: "Bruce Toews" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Sent: Saturday, March 11, 2006 10:36 AM Subject: Seek to Time in Windows Media > I've been using the audio vault at www.cjob.com which lets you listen to > any previous hour of programing from the station within the past 60 days. > It uses Windows Media Player for streaming, and I don't appear to have any > other options. Re: Crackling & Problems With The Creative X-FI Card?
I had a lot of crackling with Eloquence when I got this new computer and it's onboard Realtek sound chip. This was fixed by two driver updates. The first fixed slight crackling during playback of any media. The second got rid of clicks at the beginning of sounds and speech. The only audio problem I'm having now is while recording with Sound Forge 5. I still get a bit of glitching even after following all the advice to tune up SF and my computer. I just got a free upgrade to SF7 from Sony so will see if this is better. I'm a bit worried that the chipset on my motherboard may not be good for audio and midi, especially multi-track recording and latency. I understand it really doesn't matter whether you have an AMD or Intel processor. What matters are the controller chip sets on the motherboard. I'd suggest going to the Creative user forums and finding out what's up. I was thinking of getting an X-Fi my self as a second audio only card because I wanted the "SoundFont" technology. However, I think I'll get a M-Audio card instead. To bad Creative isn't as good with their updates as Realtek. You would think by now they would understand text-to-speech. since the old AWE32 came with a special version of DecTalk which was tuned for their onboard DSP. - Original Message - From: "Brian Hansen" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Crackling & Problems With The Creative X-FI Card? > I'm currently running into problems with the Creative Labs X-FI card. Brent, Read back over my reply to Pam--there are no electronics involved; just a series of baffles, outside the ear, around one half inch in length and diameter-- not very obtrusive at all! A range in my area has available some kind of electronic headset you can use when you shoot there that you hear normally until you pull the trigger and some how it makes it so the ears don't start ringing. Re: Crackling & Problems With The Creative X-FI Card?
Is there a way to tell it not to upsample? I use to have all of that plus JFW skipping and losing parts of words on my old system that had a SB Live, but I was told that it was due to using an AMD chip set instead of the Intel processor and chip set. That was one of the main reasons I went all Intel this time. Blessings, Brian - Original Message - From: "Rick Harmon" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. Re: Professional quality Ear Plugs For Concerts
Pam, No, they do not sound similar! Sonic Noise Eliminators are another animal altogether; they have a rubber "stopper", that fits in your ear canal, then they have a series of "baffles", that are just outside your ear, in a cylindrical fashion. The "baffles" are inside the outer ear part. They don't stick out of your ears much, though! I would suggest Guitar Center or any of the "larger" stores; I'm sorry that I can't help you much more than that. They don't muffle the sound, rather, they prevent it from doing much damage. Keep trying! -Mac- - Original Message - From: "Pam Drake" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. USB Sound Card question
My new computer includes a 5.1 surround sound chip. It offers 1 plugg each for mike, speakers and line in. The store that sold it to me claims that I cannot do better with - a USB sound card, or an autigy 2ZS which offers jacks on both the front and back. This is a great computer in all other respects, but it's my feeling that I can do better than a 5.1 chip without breaking the bank. Does anyone have an opinion on the subject. By the way, most of my recording is line in, and it would certainly help to have more than 1 line in jack along with convenient access. I'm using bothe Window Eyes 5.5 and Jaws 7.0. Re: Crackling & Problems With The Creative X-FI Card?
Hi, I get some slight clicks and pops from my Audigy 2 card when moveing quickly through things or typing quickly but I think you can't get rid of every single pop and click on JFW. I think part of it may be the low sample rate of the speech and its being upsampled to 48khz for output from the audio card. I tend to just ignore it. Now on my other system I have a SB Live value card and it has a lot mor noticeable popping and clicking on it and I don't prefer it at all and will probably replace it with an Audigy 2 Value card in the near future. Hi, Under the mike there is a little pin hole. Get a paper clip or something that will fit into that hole and press the reset button. mono fm on replay
I have come to the conclusion that whether the feed is mono or stereo depends on the station putting it out. A couple of the stations, KPFK, KALD that were in mono I think their streams are that way, but I am still thinking about it. I went to KUSC 91.5 which was in stereo which leads me to believe that it is the station and not replay that is at fault. However, if somebody could check out KSPC and see if it plays please let me know. I can't get it to play here. yes this is correct. Some stations may broadcast their fm signal in stereo, but may broadcast on the internet in mono. So Replay AV is not doing anything wrong here. I thought error correction would fix that. Sad. Do you have CDEX or Easy CD Extractor? I never could figure out what to do, so I used real player until I bought winamp pro. Of course, you could always uninstall and reinstall. It would probably work, but it would also be extremely tedious. Re: nero and winamp conflict?
I have not noted a conflict between Winamp and Nero. However, in 2 separate operating systems, when I have Winamp loaded along with a program called Replay music, which is another program from the creators of Replay Av, I do experience a conflict that I can't explain. When both programs are loaded, but only Replay Music is running, I receive errors throughout Replay Music's recording process. In fact, with that scenario, Replay Music is rendered useless. Yet when I unload Winamp, Replay Music works fine. No conflict with Real Player Plus, WMP or anything else. I have no idea why this happens and have never heard of it happening to anyone else.
