Hi Robert, so you don't have a general purpose, or media library group of plug ins? On two machines here, there are six groups of plug ins. I don't know how to help in this case. Hope you get things sorted out. Joe Joe Paton telephone: 01702 543624 Mobile: 0 7 9 6 7 3 8 2 9 6 4 web site: http://www.apart.org
Re: Winamp question
Hi Under dsp/effect, there should be a section called media library. I would hesitate to delete or remove any of these plugins unless you're absolutely sure you want to get rid of them. The absolutely safest thing to do is to hit alt plus l and hide the media library window from appearing. If you really want to get rid of the plugins though, the safest one looks like it might be one called Nullsoft library, and another one called Online services. But like I say i haven't removed these, so approach with caution. I have no idea if winamp requires these plugins to function. That's why I've just hidden the media library window. Better to be safe than sorry. On 7/30/2017 7:41 PM, Donald L. Roberts wrote: Joe, Thanks so much for the response to my inquiry. I do not find the media library plug in of which you speak. A winamp question
Although I prefer to use Window-eyes with its Winamp scripts, I would also greatly appreciate responses from Jaws users. I am using Winamp version 5.61, I believe. What I am attempting to determine is whether there is some way to copy all of the track info shown for a given track. I just downloaded a classical album entitled something like 99 violin masterpieces, and the track info supplied provides title, artist, album info. I can see this with the Window-eyes scripts but want a way to copy it and subsequently braille it. But it would be really tedious to manually copy each track line by line. So, thanks in advance for suggestions as to whether this can be done; and, if so, just how to do it. Good evening, John. Do you activate the rip or burn menus before activating the burn or rip button? WMP seems to require the corresponding menus for whichever function you want to perform before WMP will allow the process to execute. As for the burn menu, MicroSoft probably wants to make sure you are taking a deliberate choice as to whether you want to burn an audio CD or a data CD. WMP11 no sound was: Winamp question
WMP may be muted, I think f8 mutes and unmutes but it might be f7 or f9. I have another version. Keep tabbing till you hear the mute and volume controls. They are independent of the Windows mixer. Also check tools, options, devices tab, speakers, properties,; to set output if you have more than one sound card. I agree, it's strange that rewind is disabled in WMP and we have to use a seek bar that has no direct hot keys or even a quick way to bring the slider to focus. Re: Winamp Question
If Winamp is opening, it's clearly not a file associations issue, otherwise Winamp would not open. My guess is that your sound has been muted at some point. If you're using JAWS, try alt+control+slash to set your volume to 100%. I'm not sure what the equivalent command is with other screen readers' scripts. Re: winamp question
Well, most of what you want are just Winamp's own hotkeys and will work whether you use Jaws or anything or no screen reader at all. Up and Down arrows control voluneand left and right arrow keys control pan. If Jaws is running the correct script everything should speak and there are a few extra keys that will set the paning to different values. Open the Jaws main window, open file menue and go down to Manage Program Settings. In there you should see Winamp if you've made any change at all to it. Make sure the checkbox for Winamp is checked and it should run those settings when Winamp is in focus. And Winamp does need to have focus for any of the Jaws settings to work. You can run Winamp in the background while doing other work, but you can't control it unless it has focus. That could be the problem. Good luck! hey roger, thanks for answering, but the problem is, I've removed some jaws related stuff in the registry to solve some other problems. but well i'll try to check this thing in jaws. and you have a serious problem when you want to pan exactly to center with only the arrow keys. Brian - Original Message - From: Roger Stewart paga...@wi.rr.com To: PC Audio Discussion List pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Saturday, August 15, 2009 10:24 PM Subject: Re: winamp question Well, most of what you want are just Winamp's own hotkeys and will work whether you use Jaws or anything or no screen reader at all. Brian, Here is what I copied from the Insert key W hot key list, in Win Amp 5.56: To pan 50% left, press ALT+CTRL+J, To center sound, press ALT+CTRL+K, To pan 50% right, press ALT+CTRL+L, To pan 100% right, press ALT+CTRL+SEMI COLON . I think you may want to have a file running, to be able to hear the desired effect! That was all I could find! Make sure you're in the right Winamp window when you press the space bar. I'm not sure what it's called, but it works for me in the window which has the name of the track in the title bar. You can use the control-tab key sequence to cycle through your winamp windows. You may also have problems if you have the notice about a new update popping up. Re: another winamp question
I have a couple of Winamp questions of my own. First, what is the easiest way of constructing a playlist when all files to be played are in the same folder? Second, what is the procedure for calculating the total playing time for all songs in a playlist? And one more for the road. Is there some means of lengthening the gap between songs in a playlist. I realize that I am a definite minority here; but, my preference is for two and a half seconds of elapsed time between the conclusion of one song and the beginning of the next. Thanks for ideas. Re: another winamp question
Well I don't know about a playlist, but if you just hit control A within a folder, it will play the whole thing. Make sure not to select any documents or other files besides mp3s, because that will lock up the program. If you hit alt E when using Jaws within Winamp, the playlist editor will open up. Hit control alt G and it will generate a playlist chart for the selected tracks that Winamp is playing. It's not always accurate though, for some reason. Thanks a lot. Captchas Re: Winamp Question
I know this is a bit late, but something Chris said got me thinking...I notice Winamp's forums are powered by vBulletin. I've also noticed, for about six years now, the ANYTHING powered by vbulletin has the captcha code associated with sign-up. I've found three lists (two Opie and Anthony fan lists and the Orbitcast forums) who are willing to assist blind/visually impaired users in signing up. However, most of the vBulletin powered lists don't give an email address to contact the forum owner or an audio alternate to the captcha. So, what I'm wondering is, is this something each forum owner can set up on his/her own, or is this something whoever is in charge at vBulletin would have to set up for each forum? The first time I ever ran into it was signing up for the message board at megadeth.com back in like July of 2001. Part of me thinks the Winamp guys would be willing to add an audio alternative, but it makes me think maybe vBulletin's software just isn't set up to handle such things, and that they need to be made aware of the problem and asked/nudged to fix it. --- Visit me on Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/wesderby Now, I actually remember to log in and check it! Most of the developers seem to hang out at the Winamp forums located at http://forums.winamp.com Unfortunately they still appear to be using a captcha system which doesn't appear to have an audio alternate *make note to self to write to them about that* but if you ask them via e-mail and explain your reasons for wanting to sign up to report a problem, you will hopefully get some help. But that really is the best way to report a major bug like that, if it had to do with screenreaders we could approach the vendors and ask for help but since this seems like it's a Winamp only thing, then the forums are probably your best way to go. Hope that helps. At 01:44 PM 10/9/2007, you wrote: Hi. Re: Captchas Re: Winamp Question
Hey Wes I did a bit of checking, and you might try sending a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and explain the whole captcha issue and hopefully, someone will get back to ya. Speaking of which I did get your e-mail here about my list so i'll get back to ya about that as well. Thanks man. At 12:33 AM 10/19/2007, you wrote: I know this is a bit late, but something Chris said got me thinking...I notice Winamp's forums are powered by vBulletin. --- Visit me on Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/wesderby Now, I actually remember to log in and check it! a winamp question
Hi listers. I have been seeing this thread about winamp versus WMP for a while, and the only problem I can see with winamp, especially is that if I use the direct sound output the volume is well below the volume of jaws. This sometimes causes problems. If I bring the EQ up to try to compensate for it, it sometimes saturates the player with weird results. If anyone knows a way around this, I would be interested in hearing it. And then it is a good idea to run a windoctor or registry cleaner to clean any references in the registry. I had to do this when I uninstalled winamp recently.
