RE: Winamp start pause and stop
I found it by going into Winamp Preferences with Ctrl+P, then pressing P three times for Plug-ins, arrowing twice down to Output, Tabbing twice to the list of plug-ins. The first one on my list is NullSoft Direct Sound Output. Tab to and activate the Configure Button. This opens a multi-page dialog with five tabs. The middle one is the Fading tab. The fourth press of Tab in that page takes you to a list of five situations where fading is possible, So arrow to the scenario you want to change and tab through and alter the status of check boxes you want to change. I hope that gets you there. Hi Robert, so you don't have a general purpose, or media library group of plug ins? On two machines here, there are six groups of plug ins. I don't know how to help in this case. Re: Winamp question
Hi Under dsp/effect, there should be a section called media library. I would hesitate to delete or remove any of these plugins unless you're absolutely sure you want to get rid of them. The absolutely safest thing to do is to hit alt plus l and hide the media library window from appearing. If you really want to get rid of the plugins though, the safest one looks like it might be one called Nullsoft library, and another one called Online services. But like I say i haven't removed these, so approach with caution. I have no idea if winamp requires these plugins to function. That's why I've just hidden the media library window. Better to be safe than sorry. On 7/30/2017 7:41 PM, Donald L. Roberts wrote: Joe, Thanks so much for the response to my inquiry. I do not find the media library plug in of which you speak. Re: Winamp alt-3 Key Not Working
Hi Joe, Well, I found it. Apparently, alt-3 was set as a global hot key to read Window 3. So, in the Winamp set file, I undefined that hot key, and now my alt-3 for reading my file info is restored. Your suggestion of using the bypass key gave me the clue to find the problem and solve it. Thanks again and have a good weekend. Re: Winamp?
Only place I know to get it these days is http://www.ninite.com The web page has a bunch of different check boxes for different programs, Winamp is oneof them. So check the box for that, and then press the space bar on the "get installer" button. the next page that comes up lets you download the installer. The great thing about Ninite is that you can check multiple boxes at once, so you can build an installer with all your favorite programs. If you're getting a new pc you can just run it, and it'll install all the programs, one after another. Also, you can keep an installer around, and it'll install the latest version of the program every time a new one comes out. These installers run in the background so there's no next buttons to press, or license agreements to answer yes to. Whoever thought of Ninite deserves a metal. RE: Winamp SQ crosfader
Hi. Hmm, I don't know how to do that. I think my version must be a different version from Dennis's version as I can't find the options he mentions; i.e. In Presets there is no radio preset just an edit box and an import button and all that does is give me a list of two file types. I guess it is going to take a few weeks or more to play around withit. and if all else fails I can always set everything to default and start again. Re: Winamp is making me mad
As Peter said earlier, use what you want but bare in mind if you do and you get yourself into a pickle with Winamp then don't expect too much support for a product that's no longer being developed. I bought a Winamp Pro licence and I was very glad I did but that was quite some time ago. I think my main annoyance about Winamp is not the software itself - though it has its problems - but the absolute twaddle talked about Winamp, its the only solution for blind people, we need to sign a partition to pressure AOL into continued development, there's no accessible alternative and so it went on. I liked Winamp because it was versatile however the software started big, bloated and damn unreliable in the last few years I used it, so much so that I had to look for an alternative player, I very much liked Windows media Player but unfortunately WMP wouldn't play a lot of formats that I took for granted when using Winamp, the next choice then for me was VLC. As for VLC not handling Bookmarks? Well again, more piffle. RE: Winamp and Lists
assuming the files are in the same location press shift L winamp will prompt you to open folder find the folder and press enter on it. The folder will play. Alternately if your playlist editor window is open, press L the machine will prompt you to add files to playlist. Find the files select them and press enter. Now assuming you select all 10 they will play and be added to a playlist which can either be saved as an m3u or pls file. If you want to be able to call those songs then within the playlist editor CTRL S you will be prompted to save the playlist Call it what you want put it where you want put it on the desktop if you like. As long as the files it points to are in the same location they will be played whenever you activate the playlist file. Is that what you were after? Ray T. VLC is much better for video. If you're going to be viewing shows and movies and such, VLC is the way to go. However it doesn't seem to have the audio flexibility that winamp does, so I happily use both. The nice thing about VLC though is that it will play any video file at all without the need to hunt around for codecs. There are still videos that i have never successfully got to play with winamp even though they seem like fairly standard file formats. - Original Message - From: "Gary Wood" To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Wednesday, November 20, 2013 10:58 PM Subject: Re: Where do you get Winamp Pro? was RE: Winamp ShuttingdownonDecember20, 2013 I heard that VLC is pretty good, but is it as good or better than Winamp? - Original Message - From: "Dane Trethowan" To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Wednesday, November 20, 2013 5:44 PM Subject: Re: Where do you get Winamp Pro? was RE: Winamp Shutting downonDecember20, 2013 I use VLC and works well for me. Only takes a minute or two to do some basic shortcuts and from there create as you go. Back to the subject line of where do you get Winamp? . Doesn't the Winamp software have an auto update function? When I last used Winamp - whenever that just happened to be - I'm sure I remember the software having an update featre. Okay so suppose Winamp has an Update function, does it work now? Will it stop working on 20 December? I suspect that the function will keep working for quite some time allowing access to whatever the last version of Winamp was. Mine is version 5.62, but I don't know whether that is the latest Pro version or not. >>> >>> To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: >>> pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org >> >> >> ** >> >> Dane Trethowan >> Skype: grtdane12 >> Phone US (213) 438-9741 >> Phone U.K. 01245 79 0598 >> Phone Australia (03) 9005 8589 >> Mobile: +61400494862 >> Fax +61397437954 >> >> >> >> To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: >> pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org > > > To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: > pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org ** Dane Trethowan Skype: grtdane12 Phone US (213) 438-9741 Phone U.K. 01245 79 0598 Phone Australia (03) 9005 8589 Mobile: +61400494862 Fax +61397437954 To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org

Hi, last post on this from me. this comes I believe from ninite.com but they link to wimamp.com so I doubt there will ever be any more updates. but if in doubt contact ninite. Where is this download coming from? If from the Ninite site, and there isn't any copyright issue with Winamp, then there should be no problem getting it that way. If Ninite is retrieving the update from the Winamp site, then it won't work anymore. Second, does AOL control the database Winamp uses for auto tagging? If not, then this feature should still work. Exactly so. It isn't as though Winamp is just going to go poof on December 20. I will find another player eventually, but I expect to be using Winamp for a while, maybe quite a while, after the updates stop. The bookmarks will still work, (they are often the same as those for iTunes anyway), the Gracenotes service will still work, so I can keep ripping CDs. I'm just going to keep using it until I get a compelling reason to change, such as a new PC with an OS that doesn't support it, or some new feature that I just positively must have. Yep, thought we'd hear the words blind friendly before too long, Winamp is certainly not the only accessible and user friendly media player on the planet and if anything I reckon its become less friendly as time has gone on. I used to enjoy Winamp 10 years ago but lately its become bloated beyond belief, web site is difficult in parts to get around, does anyone really know what all the functions and plug-ins actually do? Of course the other popular media player now is iTunes, Apple have really tightened things up in the last few versions, the software has been completely rewritten and - with most Screen Reading software - is very easy to use and get around.
