Hi their,
You will find if the sound driver is installed and you have told
replay radio to use that external driver it will always use the
external driver and you will always have to change the configuration
back to your sound card of coise!!
I use quick mix it's a very good utility you set your preferred
settings in your mixer then save them then when you need to use them
you just open quick mix and just open the preferred setting of your

If I was you I would unstall the external driver for replay radio it
causes more problems than it is worth in my opinion.

Larry, now that I think about it, there is a setting that starts
replay-radio when windows starts and I believe minimizes it to the
systray.
This can be changed in the settings section which is found in the main
menu
near the end of choices. When the program starts, shift tab about
three or
four times and you should get to settings. Hit the spacebar, when you
do.
I believe the choice of starting replay-radio when windows starts is
in the
general tab of that menu I think. I never thought of this as I keep
boxes
like this unchecked as a rule and did it so long ago I'd forgotten
about the
option.

Re: Replay Radio Driver Question

2005-05-14 Thread Ron or Susan Denis
1. The program comes with a good help file or links to help on the net but
there is not a good hotkey list that I've seen nor for that matter are there
many hotkeys that I've noticed. On the other hand, it is quite accessible.
It will record shows in most formats but does seem to require that you have
the requisite player (windows media or real) on your computer. You can
choose how to save the files: as WAV or several levels of MP3 files. I
think there is also an option to save them as WMA files but am not sure.
The program is not hard to use but does require one to remember that the
spacebar activates most buttons rather than the enter key. There are a
couple of times when this is not the case, but these seem self evident when
relevant. RD

Re: Replay Radio Driver Question

2005-05-14 Thread Ron or Susan Denis
Actually, for many soundcards, you can make recordings without the replay
radio drivers. I suspect you need them if, like myself, you want to use the
extended sound card driver. This is not automatically loaded onto your
computer as it can in some cases cause problems, but was revamped and
brought back into the program by popular demand because it allows one to
record the stream before it hits the sound card screening out any system
sounds and this includes speech. It is easily removed from the control
panel add-remove programs option specifically because they figure that if it
does cause problems on a specific system, the owner will want to remove it.
I use it regularly because it causes no significant problems on my machine.

Hi Joanne. Replay Radio's online help files are excellent and the program
works very well with Window Eyes or Jaws. There are also at least a couple
of us here on the list who use the program.

It will record pretty much anything when it comes to streaming media and a
demo version is also available for you to test.

Joanne, you don't necessarily need the driver, but it does help filter out
other computer sounds while recording. One difference between Total Recorder
and Replay Radio is that you can opt out of using the driver and still enjoy
full functionality. Try it both ways and see which works for you.

Peter, others may see it differently, but to me it's easier to set up timed
recordings in Replay Radio. I still like total recorder for other tasks, but
Replay Radio has a database of stations, and you can add to that database
with your own favorites, again contributing to ease of use. Replay Radio
does offer a 7 day demo. You could give it a try for yourself and see what
you think. I believe that the demo's only restriction is that recordings
are limited to an hour.

Replay Radio Driver Question

2005-05-12 Thread Larry N
I'm using the replay Radio driver with good results when recording with that
program, but I am running into a problem with the driver. Whenever I log
onto windows, the Replay driver takes over for my sound card as default for
just about all audio instances, no matter the program or audio format,
creating the need to correct the problem on a daily basis. How can I limit
the Replay Driver to activity involving Replay Radio only.?

Thanks in advance.

In the volume control for most sound cards you can get to which driver to
mark as the default. Not sure how this differs from sound card to sound
card but I am pretty sure you can set the native soundcard drivers as the
default and the replay radio drivers will not start with windows. I used
the replay-radio enhanced sound card driver so I can avoid recording system
sounds and my speech. I set the computer's sound controls to default to the
driver that came with the soundcard on the computer. Again, I think I
reached this and made my selections using the volume control, under

Hi Ron. As you indicated, once you set your sound card as the default,
Replay Radio's driver should not be able to reassume default status with
every startup. Unfortunately, that does not seem to be the case here. My
other thought was that perhaps Replay included a feature which looks for its
own driver as default at startup and reestablishes itself. when necessary.
That is an option that I've seen in other software such as Winamp and Real
Player, but thus far, if Replay Radio has such a feature which could be
checked or unchecked, I haven't been able to find it.

Larry, now that I think about it, there is a setting that starts
replay-radio when windows starts and I believe minimizes it to the
systray. This can be changed in the settings section which is found in the
main menu near the end of choices. When the program starts, shift tab
about three or four times and you should get to settings. Hit the
spacebar, when you do. I believe the choice of starting replay-radio when
windows starts is in the general tab of that menu I think. I never
thought of this as I keep boxes like this unchecked as a rule and did it
so long ago I'd forgotten about the option.
