Re: Really strange problem with winamp 5.07
Hi, Here is the official answer about this from Gracenote. Very sad, but 100 % reliable. Best regards Brian Hello Brian, Thank you for writing. The music lookup function on your Winamp application is not working because the software developer unfortunately has not renewed their license to use the Gracenote music recognition service, and their license term has now expired. I found their forum page, which confirms this information: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=377496 If you would like to continue accessing Gracenote's music recognition service, you can look around. Other popular licensed applications include iTunes and products by Sony, Creative, Samsung, Roxio and many others. Some applications are freeware and some are commercial, and you can go to the software developer's own web site for more information or to download. I hope this helps. New Problem with Winamp
Hello everyone, I am having a new problem with Winamp. Every time I try to wrip a CD now, it only says that the title of the track is track and the number, such as track 1, track 2, track 3 etc. I know this is not what it actually is, but every time I try to get it to tag, it says no matches found, when I know there are matches. Is anyone else having this problem? To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org

Hi Larry. Glad you got your issue resolved with Winamp. If you ever encounter this problem again, first, see if the playlist editor has focus. If it does, hit CTRL+TAB to get to another Winamp window, then hit ALT+E to close the playlist editor. ALT+W toggles the Winamp main window. Have a good day, and don't work too hard. GO REDS! strange problem with winamp
Have any of you ever had this happen? When I skip tracks with winamp using the b key, my speakers pan either slightly or all the way left or right even though they're still set to 50 center in volume control. The only way I can get the audio centered again is to re-boot the computer. This doesn't happen playing disks with media player. I'm using XP home and winamp 5.6.3.3235. If I just let tracks play and don't skip tracks this doesn't happen. Also, disks don't start playing from the first track, nor do they skip in order. Does anyone know what causes this? especially the channel pan? Thanks. Joe. To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org

Problem with Winamp Version 5.6.0.3091 AACPlus Audio Files
When I play AACPlus audio files that I have ripped from CD using Winamp Version 5.6.0.3091 (the latest version, I believe), I get a fluttering clicking sound in the playback. I do not have this problem when I use Realplayer (the only other player I have that plays AACPlus), and I do not have the problem with MP3 or M4A audio files; nor did I have it using the previous version of Winamp. Is this a known problem; is it being addressed? I'd like to avoid rolling back my version of Winamp, if at all possible. Thank you. Press j then enter a search term which will find some files. 3. Tab to the list of files found and arrow to one. 4. Tab to move after current and press space. Press escape. 5. Check the playlist. I've had this happen multiple times, and I get exactly the symptoms you describe. This isn't much different than that dialog you get when it's telling you about a new update. Sometimes I'm able to use the JAWS cursor to find the appropriate button to click on. However, sometimes I've had to get sighted help. Ask your wife if there's a dialog box asking if you want to manage the device with a Yes and a No button. Ask her to click one of those buttons with the mouse, depending on whether you want to manage the device with Winamp or not, and see if that takes care of the problem. I suspect you're not getting this with the LG VX-8360 because either Winamp isn't recognizing that as a device it can manage or at some point in the past you answered that dialog above. Hi Christopher, This only happens when I plug the card reader in to the computer, this never happened with any of the phones. I will ask my wife to take another look at it again and ask her to tell me what's happening there. I did try uninstalling and reinstalling Winamp 5.56 to see if that will solve the problem, but the problem still exists. High Sunshine, When I was running both versions 5.35 and 5.54, I was able to play the files in Winamp from the many ST card. This is only happening in version 5.56. But if that's the best work around, I'll try it. RE: PROBLEM WITH WINAMP 5.56
Good luck. The card reader is being seen by Winamp as a removable storage device. I'm not sure how the phones work, but they may not be seen as Winamp as removable storage devices. I've seen this behavior with several different mass storage devices. I don't think I've seen it with my Nokia but that is probably just because I connect it to my PC in PC Suite mode. I'm sure if I were to connect it in mass storage mode then I'd get that crippling dialog from Winamp. Note that once you respond to that dialog box, you won't see it again. You might also try using your JAWS cursor. If you can't see the dialog, you may try using insert-r to view the whole screen. You may be able to find it that way. Again, good luck. -- Christopher chalt...@gmail.com -Original Message- From: pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of DJ DOCTOR P Sent: Friday, November 20, 2009 10:32 AM To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: Re: PROBLEM WITH WINAMP 5.56 Hi Christopher, This only happens when I plug the card reader in to the computer, this never happened with any of the phones. Problem with Winamp in Explorer Context Menus
It used to be that I could right-click on a folder or file and two of the choices in the resultant menu would be enqueue or play in Winamp. No more. Now, the choices are add to Windows Media Player list and play in Windows Media Player. The other side of this is that in Winamp Preferences, File types, the checkbox that is labeled Show Winamp in the context menus in Windows Explorer is permanently unchecked. I can check it, press Close, immediately reopen Preferences, and it's gone back to unchecked again. What have I done, and how is it undone? Re: Problem with Winamp in Explorer Context Menus
Hi Steve, Could it be that Winamp is no longer you're default player? If you're set to display 'Details', check to see if it says 'Winamp Media File' when you invoke you're Screen Reader's Say Line command. From the options you're getting upon right clicking a file, it sounds to me very much like WMP has somehow been assigned the default player application. Re: problem with winamp 5.52
Has this been solved yet? I have a few ideas and questions if it hasn't. 1. Does the title appear only when Winamp is running, either in the fore or background? 2. Does the phantom title appear no matter what else Winamp is playing, even if you just open Winamp and don't load any track or playlist? 3. Does rebooting not make the problem go away? Answer these for the nonce and we'll see where it takes us. On Fri, 16 Jan 2009 00:02:39 -0500, you wrote: Window-Eyes version 6.1. XP PRO. video problem in winamp
Okay, I'm using winamp, which is my preferred media player, and I'm having difficulty with mpeg files where the video does not move along with the sound. Furthermore, a lot of times winamp will perform an error when playing an mpeg, or it will freez up if I try using any of the transport controls in winamp, such as fast forwarding and so forth. Unfortunately, my new tv program I just installed -- WindTv 2000 -- only records in mpeg. Any ideas? Hi. I've never heard of that kind of thing happening before. Could you tell us which version of Winamp you're using, what operating system you have, and any other technicle details you think might be important? Remember, since there are so many versions of Winamp floating around out there, simply going back to an earlier version, or upgrading to the newest one may solve the problem. But without a few details, we won't know for sure. At 11:31 AM 6/9/2007, you wrote: Hello, I am having a problem with Winamp. I sent this email before but got no response. Hi Sam, Try going into you're control panel and uninstalling it. Or you could go to ms config and try that, or which is the run file from you're start menu, or try regedit from the run menu from you're start menu. You also might try going into you're computer hit w fro winap and then delte that, go into my computer and delte everything that has to do with winap. That actually sounds pretty similar to the problem I've been having since Winamp 5.2 came out. I'm running a similar system, though with a bit less RAM. The problem still continues in Winamp 5.3. is the problem with Winamp, soundcard or XP?
Hi Gene and Larry, Thank you for your immediate replies. Gene, you were right on. I never thought of checking the default configuration. In fact, I never knew you could change the settings on the driver. This machine came as is, so I never had to deal with that part of the setup. It took me a while to find where to change the configuration. But I finally found it in the speaker tab of the sounds and audio devices in the control panel. I was pleasantly surprised to see so many different configurations there, and sure enough, the default configuration was desktop speakers. Larry, my Winamp problem went away when I changed the speaker configuration to surround sound 5.1 speakers. Oh, what a relief! I am so glad to hear the clean sound on podcast files using Winamp. Again. Thank you for your help, both of you. ST Below is the original message I sent: Hello everyone: I've been having a bit of a problem. I have a Pentium 4 with XP professional. It's running at about 3.08GHz with one gigabytes of RAM. Ever since I installed Total Recorder about a month ago, I've been having to take care of a problem here and there. It started out with the microphone input on the soundcard no longer responding. It turned out that somehow the Total Recorder's driver did not like the SoundBlaster Audigy driver and corrupted it. This problem was fixed by uninstalling and reinstalling the SoundBlaster Audigy driver, and the microphone input on the soundcard now works. But in the process the Total Recorder's driver disappeared. At this point that is a minor issue for me. Then the second major problem happened. For some reason, the rear speakers on the surround sound system quit working. I know the speakers themselves are working because when I use them as front speakers, they work. So at this point I don't know whether there is something wrong with the soundcard or the controller that is connected to the soundcard since I have no idea how I can test them. I forgot to mention that the sound system is Boston Acoustics' BA7900 5 and 1 speaker system. It is possible that the problem may be the subwoofer since the all the speakers are directly connected to it. The controller brings the sound signals from the soundcard and feeds them into the subwoofer. My third problem, which is the reason for this inquiry, is that I noticed last night Winamp was playing the podcast files I downloaded in very poor quality. They sound like listening to a far-away FM radio station with quite a bit of static. Sometimes the files played are breaking up as if I'm getting a bad stream. I played the same files on Studio Recorder and Sound Forge, and they are in perfect quality with no extra noise. Does anyone out there happen to know what's going on with my system? I don't know if I need to be focusing on my soundcard, Winamp or speaker system. I've unstalled and reinstalled different versions of Winamp several times. But the result is just the same. I wish I new how surround sound signals are coming out from the soundcard, so that I could test to see if all the ports are in working order. There are five jacks on the soundcard. I know the microphone jack, line-in jack and line-out (at least I think that's what it is) jack are working. But I'm not sure about the jack between line-in and line-out, and the jack on the outside opposite from the microphone jack. If anyone out there can help me, I would greatly appreciate it. Re: is the problem with Winamp, soundcard or XP?
Shigeru, I really can't help you with any other aspect of your problem, but I think I can address the quality of your sound when using Winamp, because I ran into this problem a couple of nights ago. Make sure that you have the TR driver to load only when TR is running. Also make sure that in your sound card settings that you have your sound card as your default play and record devices. I ran across this problem when I was using total recorder to edit an mp3 file, and at the same time using Winamp to playback the file. I of course have Winamp set as my default program for playing mp3 files. Anyway, also make sure you don't have TR running while also running Winamp. I thought your description of the resulting sound was quite accurate. For a time I thought I would need a bit of help with that one too, until I realized just what I was doing, and considering that I had never encountered that problem before. Take care, Larry At 05:09 PM 12/3/2005, you wrote: Hello everyone: I've been having a bit of a problem. I have a Pentium 4 with XP professional. Sorry about the long-winded explanation of my problem. problem with winamp
I went into the winamp library and was looking at all the shoutcast streams, and usually when I hit enter I can get them to play, but now ever time i enter on a station winamp isn't trying to play them. The ones I saved in my bookmarks work fine, and I tried listening to a couple of the same ones by going through the library, and they won't work. I tried exiting out of winamp and going back in and refreshing the list, and it won't work. Re: problem with Winamp 2.91
No one should be using winamp 2.x in my opinion because Winamp 5 is...A bug fixed winamp 2 with a few new cool features..Global hotkeys anyone? Interface3 is exactly the same if one installs the classic skin rather thatn the moddern one, a choice in the install. I'm now having trouble playing some of the radio stations in a playlist I recently saved. Now Winamp just stops responding with some of these stations. No messages, just no responce. I can't even exit Winamp. Have to reboot. For the curious. The reason I don't like Winamp 5x is that bookmarks are now in the library and don't have the nice hotkeys for starting and endqueuing files. I wonder if it has something to do with changes to the library in 5x versions or with changes at Nulsoft. - Original Message - From: Marty Rimpau [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hi, Bob, I knew that winamp 2.95 did this, but didn't know winamp 2.91 did this as well, and the only fix is a reinstall over the top. I have found that winamp 2.92 is nice and fast, and so I'll send you that off list, and you can install it, and see how you go with it.
