GESO Aikido of Santa Cruz 2012 Summer Retreat
These were taken back in July, mostly with the K-5. The light was very challenging. The Santa Cruz Civic has several different types of interior lights, each with a different color balance, plus varying amounts of daylight coming in through the windows. At the dojo, I often shooting with the windows in the background, often with some light from the incandescents. In both cases, the light reflected off the green mats tends to add an interesting tint to the photos. Sometimes, I just give up and process them in black and white. http://www.flickriver.com/photos/ellarsee/sets/72157631768328808/ -- Larry Colen l...@red4est.com sent from i4est -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

Re: What to do with my K 500
Even though the K500 is a relatively simple design, it's possible that the lens took enough of a bang in the past to make it less sharp, I say this because even cheap 500mm long lenses from that era were acceptably sharp when stopped down a stop or two. I just thought, well, *maybe* the glass just needs a cleaning. It is an old lens, after all, and was in some guy's closet for more than a decade before it came to me. Re: Driving to Argentina
They make new ones! They just don't import them to the US. But you can buy them even in Mexico. Of course, they are front-engined and not forward control, and you won't be able to fix the engine with duct tape and bail wire, but hey. You could probably make a really nice reliable camper from a turbo diesel VW T5. If you guys think the Pentax world is full of obsessive geeks, take a look at the world of VW buses... Re: Anyone have experience de-yellowing an SMC-Takumar lens?
Since Mark bought this lens from me, I should reply. I had never photographed through this particular lens, so I apologize for not noticing it/mentioning it. I was under the impression that the radioactive element was only used in the Super Tak versions of this, but apparently I was mistaken. Regarding UV light treatments... IKEA makes a cheap chinese LED task light that costs $10 and is supposed to work very quickly on this problem. (Since UV is bad for you, I'm not sure what this says about the advisability of using such lamps for their *intended* purpose.) One specifically mentioned is the Jansjo LED task lamp from IKEA : \ A halogen worklamp would probably work well also, if you removed the glass UV filter off the front first. Yes, It's the Udvar-Hazy Center. $15 to park the car free after that and an amazing museum. The Blackbird just stuns everyone because it is so much bigger than you think it would be. It (tightly) fits in my Levis pocket if I want, certainly any jacket pocket easily, and I use the optical viewfinder almost exclusively. Parallax is not an issue as I know where to position the camera when the subject is closer than about 4 feet. Or use the LCD. Build quality excellent and just fits nicely even in my huge hands. It goes everywhere I go, either in my pocket or with the laptop. For colour I have it set on a Velvia setting and mono, two settings - one is high ISO and contrast for dark corner grabs, and the other low ISO and fine detail for landscapes. The most important things for me are the optical viewfinder, quality and the size of the camera.
