closet cleaning vivitar automatic teleconverter 2x-1
Hi Everyone: I’ve been cleaning out a closet, and I found a Vivitar Automatic Tele Converter 2X-1. Am I right in assuming this is a screw-mount converter for Pentax-M42 something? Anyone know anything about this? Is it possible to use with DSLRs? I’m assuming some kind of mount adapter for the K-mount? The truth is I’ve never used a teleconverter before, though I understand the concept and purpose. I have absolutely no idea, however, how I came upon this teleconverter. It’s a mystery. Re: closet cleaning vivitar automatic teleconverter 2x-1
It will work, but it’s hardly worth it. You’d have to use an adapter on each end, and the quality of those old Vivitar converters is not stellar. You can probably find a K-mount version of a similar adapter for less than the cost of the adapters. Of course what you really want is the new Pentax 1.4X autofocus converter, which is stellar. Arrived, via Holland and Germany. The usual excellent work from all parties. Bought the dustcover version this time but I think I prefer the imagewrap. Also not sure if I prefer a fixed design or the new look every year. There hasn't been a bad one yet and, as it's someone else's hard work, I am emphatically not complaining. However. next year, I _insist_ on being a proofreader. Multiple quotes from Bill Robb I can tolerate; duplicate ones. Re: closet cleaning vivitar automatic teleconverter 2x-1
It would be pretty obvious if it's screw mount. Since it's labeled automatic I assume it's Pentax/Praktica mount and not some horrible T mount monstrosity. The problem is that while there are a variety of M42 to K mount adapters available, there are none to put K mount lenses on M42 mount cameras or accessories that I know of. If there are they will need to include some glass elements to allow infinity focus which are going to be rather crappy and since most Teleconverters of the screw mount era were pretty crappy to begin with, it would be best to not add additional crappieness, unless you intend to take up telephoto digital Lomography. If you have M42 lenses too use with it. It might not be too bad, since you'll being the sweet spot in both the lens and the converter, however it still probably won't be very good. The only multiplier I remember giving reasonable quality is the 7 element Kormura Telemorse95 II. These were very expensive and well worth the money. I somehow doubt that the Vivitar is a rebadged Komura. On 5/19/2014 2:56 PM, Christine Aguila wrote: Hi Everyone: I’ve been cleaning out a closet, and I found a Vivitar Automatic Tele Converter 2X-1. Starts out on US 421 and then NC 105 before you get to US 221? On 5/19/2014 8:37 PM, Mark Roberts wrote: Well, three years old. Crappy quality, low-res. If that merger ever goes through I predict your service is likely to become more like mine to a greater extent than mine will become more like yours. Re: Just FYI
Our condo is connected by a DSL-only ATT Uverse service. Since we moved in here in 2010, there has been only one three hour outage. Similarly, most of my email has been hosted by Apple mail servers since 2001. I can't remember when there was an outage at this point. PESO flip
Scott and Karen are friends of mine from blues dancing. Scott is also into photography. They host pole dance practice sessions at their house, yesterday they did one as a photo shoot. It was definitely a learning experience, and the lighting could be done a lot better than it was. Even so, I got some pretty good shots. This one of Jackie is my favorite from yesterday. https://www.flickr.com/photos/ellarsee/14227546215/ It was before we set up a rim light, or colored gelled strobes on the background to help separate the dancers from the background. CC, as always, appreciated. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
