Re: Help w/Pentax Auto Extension Tubes

2002-04-03 Thread Jose Rodriguez

Pat,

I suspect that the problem is with the return spring (it does not return
like the other two tubes), but I am not too confident about opening the
back to check it out. I am afraid that the spring will pop out, etc...
Have you opened an extension tube before? Is it easy to reset the spring
properly?

Thanks!

it unhooked and jamming the linkage?

Re: 135mm lens

2001-08-14 Thread Jose Rodriguez

Hi Paul,

This is the lens that is referred as the K135/2.5 (from Bojidar Dimitrov's
Pentax Page):

http://www.bdimitrov.de/kmp/lenses/primes/105-200/135f2,5.html

I recently picked one up on eBay and it is worth the wait to get this
one. It is an outstanding lens Better than the M135/3.5, which
I use to own.

Re: record priced K105/2.8

2001-07-25 Thread Jose Rodriguez

Scoot,

I guess you can call it magic glass but the SMC-K 105mm f/2.8 is definitely
a better performer than the SMC-M 100mm f/2.8; this is not to say that
the M 100/2.8 is a poor performer by any standards.

I have owned both and the K 105/2.8 produced much sharper images with
excellent bokeh. I guess the high price is because the K 105/2.8 rarely
shows up on eBay or camera stores very much...

FS: SMC-M Pentax 35mm f/2.0 SMC-K Pentax 28mm f/3.5 Lens

2001-07-17 Thread Jose Rodriguez

Hi Everyone,

I am selling my SMC-M Pentax 35mm f/2.0 Lens with Pentax Brand UV Filter,
Front and Rear Caps for $225.00 + shipping and insurance. If no one
responds, I will be placing the lens on eBay tomorrow evening.

The lens is in KEH EXC+ Condition, with only minimal wear on the aperture
ring. The glass is perfect with only the typical dust specks. This
compact lens is fast, sharp, contrasty, and great for indoor group shoots.

I am also selling my SMC-K Pentax 28mm f/3.5 Lens with Hoya Skylight
Filter, front and rear caps (generic) for $85.00. This lens is in KEH
EXC-/BGN Condition because there is a very slight cleaning mark (does
not affect photos) on the front element, average brassing and some fading
of the aperture numbers. As some of you already know, even though the
SMC Pentax-K 28mm f/3.5 is slower, this lens is the best 28mm from Pentax,
in terms of its optical performance.

If you are interested, I can e-mail you some photos of the lenses.

Regards,

Re: Portrait lens wanted

2001-05-31 Thread Jose Rodriguez

Hi Brent,

As Bob S. mentioned, the SMC-K Pentax 105mm f/2.8 is somewhat rare; it
took about three months of searching Camera Stores Web Sites (Adorama,
BH, KEH, etc...) and eBay before I found one at Adorama in EXC+ Condition
for $200. I use to own the SMC-M Pentax 100mm f/2.8 and I believe the
K105/2.8 is better performer.

However, if you want a M100/2.8, Camera Co-Op of Austin (512) 804-2667,
currently has one in at least EXC Condition for $125.

I've been hunting for a good portait lens for a while, but E-bay has
been awfully slow lately. (unless you are in to belt buckles and endoscopes).
 What i'm looking for is a K105/2.8 or an M or A 100/2.8 (not macro).I've
 passed up the M a few times b/c i'm waiting to see an A 100 or K 105,but
i've not even seen them. So...i guess what i'm asking is how much doeither
of these go for? It might be that i am waiting around for somethingout
of my
league, but i don't know b/c i've not even seen one around. Are theyrare?
or
just so good no one wants to sell them?
Also...anyone just really feel like getting rid of one of these, or
 should i keep waiting? Thanks.

SMC-K Pentax 105mm f/2.8

2001-04-30 Thread Jose Rodriguez

Hi Everyone,

I praised this lens last week while discussing the SMC-M 100mm f/2.8
and I indicated it was somewhat rare. Well, the local Pro Shop currently
has one in Exc+ Condition ($200), if anybody is interested. The price
is on the high side, but this is an outstanding short telephoto lens.

Re: Thoughs on M 100/2.8

2001-04-26 Thread Jose Rodriguez

Hi Brent,

I use to own this very nice short telophoto. I bought it for the same
reasons you are considering purchasing it; for portrait use. I liked
it; good color, good bokeh, and very easy to handle. I shot some very
nice portraits with it. However, my only complaint with it was that
it was not as sharp as I would have liked it to be.

If you look at the BOA's Gallery: Pentax Lenses Review Web Site:
http://home.att.net/~alnem/html/pentax_primes.html#100,
you can see some of the reviews on this focal length. I did and that
is why I purchased the SMC-K 105mm f/2.8 (somewhat rare) and sold my
SMC-M 100mm f/2.8.

Nonetheless, the SMC-M 100mm f/2.8 is an excellent performer and can
be found at a good price.

Good Luck!

Re: 300 f4.0 revisited

2001-02-04 Thread Jose Rodriguez

I once owned a SMC-M* 300mm f/4.0 and later sold it to buy a SMC-K 200mm
f/2.5, which I think is more useful for my purposes.

However, I do miss not having the SMC-M* 300mm. The lens produced photos
with great color rendition and sharpness, not that the SMC-K 200mm is
a poor performer by any means, but I sometimes need more reach. I am
going to start looking for either an M* or A* 300mm, but was wondering
if anyone has compared these two lenses (I believe they probably perform
the same) to the SMC-K 300mm.

The K version always seems to sell for less, but if it performs comparable
to the M* or A*, this lens may be a better buy, even though it weights
more.

Thanks!
