http://digilander.libero.it/pentaxday/postere.htm Please please don't send me a personal check only cashable in USA, Canada, or any country other than Italy. Send them to PDML distributors in your country (once they'll show-up and buy some posters from me!) Dario Bonazza http://www.dariobonazza.com I would also be interested in a poster. Re: Anybody interested in getting the Pentax poster?
Hello, This is a strange period of my life, where I resigned from my work after twenty years, and now I'm trying to setup my own business. Maybe you'll undertand I'm pretty puzzled and busy now. Ok, this said, here are the news about the 1952-2002 - 50 years of Pentax SLR cameras poster. First, for those among you which are also AOHC members, please note that all AOHC members will receive one poster for free, shipped together with Spotmatic magazine No.33 next August (sorry, it will be shipped folded in envelope). Extra copies can be ordered at $2.00 each (AOHC members) or $4.00 each (non-members), plus package and postage. However, during this year 2002 celebrating such an important anniversary, I'll be happy to extend to all PDML members the reduced cost per poster ($2.00 each). Then non-members will pay $4.00 each poster. I checked the cost of carton tubes and postage for shipping it worldwide from Italy (priority mail). For the full details following the link: http://digilander.libero.it/pentaxday/postere.htm Unfortunately, as you can see the postage for such a large and heavy poster is also heavy. Some time ago, somebody thought it could better to ship a bunch to some PDML'er in N. America for distribution there, rather than many separate posters being airmailed from Italy. What do you think now? Dario Bonazza www.aohc.it - Original Message - From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Saturday, May 04, 2002 2:43 AM Subject: Re: Anybody interested in getting the Pentax poster? Dario, I expect mailing within the US would cost $3.50 per poster, add to that the cost of the mailing tube, plus the cost of production on your side and mailing to the US. What do you think this would run on a per poster basis. If this all is not too expensive, we can find a way to work it out. I'd be happy to pay for such a poster. Regards, Bob S. [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: Anybody interested in getting the 50 years Pentax poster from outside Italy? In case I'll be happy to find a good way to do that. The problem will be the postage cost, also depending on the way you'll want me to mail you the poster. Being it 100x50cm wide, I'll have the choice between mailing it folded many times inside a standard envelope or shipping it rolled up. I bet that will cost a lot more. As Greg suggested, it's probably better I'll ship 100 (say) to some PDML'er in N. America for distribution there. Rather than 100's of separate posters being airmailed from Italy. So, anybody interested in it? Please give me an idea of the quantity I'll have to ship. Now my idea is to print 500 copies: 300 for AOHC members and 200 more for others. 50th anniversary camera? (WAS: Anybody interested in getting the Pentax poster?)
Fred wrote: I just had this thought cross my mind, though: Wouldn't it be sad if 2002 passed without anything really special to celebrate about from Pentax itself? Hmmm... Yes, it would be sad and quite frankly a bit strange as Pentax usually commemorate such events. They even celebrated the 20th anniversary of the LX with a black titanium version. The 60th Asahi anniversary with the original LX. Their 75th anniversary with the Limited edition Z-1 and a silver titanium LX. The year 2000 with a Limited finished LX. The 10 million sold slr with a gold edition of the LX. Therefore, I certainly think Pentax will commemorate the 50th anniversary for the Asahiflex; the 50th anniversary for japanese slr production and 50 years of Pentax slr production. This is quite an event. Lets hope they will make a new version of the LX. Pål - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List. To unsubscribe, go to http://www.pdml.net and follow the directions. I just had this thought cross my mind, though: Wouldn't it be sad if 2002 passed without anything really special to celebrate about from Pentax itself? Hmmm... Yes, it would be sad and quite frankly a bit strange as Pentax usually commemorate such events. [snip] Lets hope they will make a new version of the LX. . . . and not just a special edition LX (i.e., another different-color, re-badged LX - as much as I love the LX, it does Pentax NO good to produce another collector's version of the LX), but a true, state-of-the-art, rugged, pro or semi-pro body that would be the modern equivalent of the LX. A new special edition of the LX is highly unlikely as the production of the LX has ceased and because certain electronic components for the LX are no longer available. A worse case scenario, apart from the nothing whatsoever scenario, I guess is a Limited anniversary model of the MZ-S. However, if Pentax have anything up their sleeves, then now it's the time to release it. How about the culmination of 50 years of production of film based slr's? Lets hope that the wish for making an LX with AF is acceptable for the marketing people as well; not only the engineers. Pål - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List. Re: Anybody interested in getting the Pentax poster?
When I had to write down the list for the cameras to consider for the poster, at last I decide to only stick mass-produced models it is likely you could buy in photo stores at their respective era, keeping off special versions (such as Motor Drive versions, celebrative models) and rarities (demo cameras, lab and military versions, prototypes, and so on). I had to take a decision and I took it that way. I believe thate any different choice would have flooded me with such comments as: since you considered the model X, why didn't you add the Y too? or You forgot to add the sub-version X of the Y special version or the like. Generally speaking, the Motor Drive versions of regular camera models are just motor Drive versions of regular cameras, already present in the poster. The only exception is the K2DMD, which is different in other details, so I added it to the list. And now, a small contest: the first one who will email me the correct list of cameras in the poster (names in the same sequence as they show up in the poster), will get one poster for free. Please send contest entries to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] You'll get the answer, and know the name of the winner, after the Pentax Day, since now I'm too much busy in setting up the last details for the event. Thanks for your patience. Bye, Dario Bonazza http://digilander.iol.it/aohc/ See: http://digilander.iol.it/pentaxday/pday71e.htm Beautiful poster. I wonder if it's possible to add any of the Motor Driver versions (K2DMD, KX MOT, Spotmatic Moter Drive, etc.). BTW, what is the very last camera in the bottom row? chris - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List. To unsubscribe, go to http://www.pdml.net and follow the directions. Re: Anybody interested in getting the Pentax poster?
Hello, I apologize for not replying to you earlier, since I'm still so busy in setting up some details for the upcoming Pentax Day, to take place next weekend in Florence. See: http://digilander.iol.it/pentaxday/pday71e.htm In that same page, you'll also see a preview of the Pentax 50 years poster, just released. AOHC will distribute it starting next June 2nd in Florence. AOHC members will get a copy for free (paying only shipping). Extra copies for AOHC members (and copies for PDML'ers) will cost you $2.00 each (plus postage), while other people will pay $ 4.00 each copy. Once I'll be back home from Pentax Day I'll arrange a proper way for shipping a single lot of posters to USA, so that an American friend could then relay ship the posters to anybody wanting them at US rates. About AOHC membership, please note that I can hardly cash US checks over here in Italy, not to speak of bank fees in case I'll find a way to get that cash. Why don't consider a Paypal payment? It works well! Please see: http://digilander.iol.it/aohc/memberse.htm Hope to get in touch with you soon. Bye, Dario Bonazza http://digilander.iol.it/aohc/ I too would enjoy having such a poster, Dario. Rolled, not folded. You would find it a lot less expensive to either have your printer pack and dropship the needed quantity to a US distributor, preferably a PDML member with easy acces to the time and facility to repack and reship the poster within North America. Alternatively, if your printer has any ties with a US of A or Canadian Print shop, the file could be sent here and printed here. If the finances balanced out, that is. If you'd send me your address, Dario, I would like to favor you (or the current treasurer) with a check for the renewal of my AOHC membership. I've moved twice in the past 24 months, and nothing is to be found. Except my cameras, of course! JoMac, Pentaxian Pentax, Quadraphonic, Betamax, Macintosh and above the rest. k t, s e n Living life aw o almost parallel to, r yet ever so slightly o u t --- f Joseph McAllister 3810 - 36th Ave SW Seattle, WA 98126 - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List. Anybody interested in getting the Pentax poster?
Anybody interested in getting the 50 years Pentax poster from outside Italy? It will be this year AOHC gadget for members attending 7th Pentax Day in Florence (Italy) next June 2nd. See: http://digilander.iol.it/pentaxday So far I'm still missing good pictures for Z5 and Z5P models (Japanese home market only). Is there anybody who can supply me those picture files? In case I'll be happy to ship him/her a copy of the poster once published (within a month from now). Thanks a lot. Re: Anybody interested in getting the Pentax poster?
Dario, I expect mailing within the US would cost $3.50 per poster, add to that the cost of the mailing tube, plus the cost of production on your side and mailing to the US. What do you think this would run on a per poster basis. If this all is not too expensive, we can find a way to work it out. I'd be happy to pay for such a poster. Regards, Bob S.
