Re: PAW--Week 43--Halloween Maid
Thanks, Christine! Much appreciated. We did, in fact, have a lovely day of weather, but we had some shocking events at work today. First, there was a small fire in our new parking garage. It was quickly attended to (we're right across the street from a firehouse), and there was no damage; then someone's brakes went out will leaving the parking garage, and the driver hit a ramp railing. Again, no permanent damage, and the driver is fine. Then we had a bomb threat. While in one of the bathrooms, students noticed this building will blow up today at 1:30 p.m. written on the wall, and, of course, reported it to the teachers, who called security, who called the police. Then the fire alarm was sounded, and we evacuated. The police and the canine patrol arrived in full force. I was in a meeting when the fire alarm, so once we learned it would be a while before we could return to our offices, we walked to a colleague's home two blocks away and finished up our meeting. My joke for the afternoon was I think we've all had a little too much sugar today. So, there you have it! The Halloween of 2011. Hi Joe: Yep, got the apple care for the iPad. I got Airport Extreme set up this afternoon and the wireless is working well, but it doesn't reach the living room. We have a really long apartment. But I think I'll be able to piggy-back airport extreme with airport express. Got my iCloud account set up. The new iCal is nice, so much so I may be going digital for my day book, which would be a major change for me, but my hand writing has gotten so bad, iCal is much easier to read. I haven't done iOS 5 on my iPhone yet--I'm a little tired of downloading stuff. It can wait. Only had to make 1 call to my internet service provider. I've never been able to understand all the acronyms regarding input output and all that stuff. The Lion download and install went without a hitch, as did the iOS 5 upgrade on the iPad. All in all, I can't complain--just a lot of time spent downloading etc. The longest minutes in the day are downloading upgrade minutes. I really like reading on the iPad; I'm reading a Fran Leibowitz's book, Tales from A Broad, which is very funny.Big cheers, Christine On Oct 30, 2011, at 6:01 PM, Joseph McAllister wrote: Nice picture in tech, but her personality is not very holidayistic. Christine - Like the pix and you've cropped it well. Congrats on the iPad. I got one as a b-day gift a couple weeks ago and am liking it a lot. I really wanted a tablet and I think the iPad is the best choice - at least for the foreseeable future. The calendar is great in conjunction with the cloud and the iPhone. Make an entry on one device at it auto syncs with the cloud and the other device. Be sure to get the camera adapter so you can copy your images right from the SD card to the iPad. -p On 10/30/2011 9:14 PM, Christine Aguila wrote: Hi Joe: Yep, got the apple care for the iPad. Re: PAW--Week 35--Dad at 81
Christine, please thank your dad for me for his dedication and sacrifices made during his service duty. I need to plug knee replacements here, given that he's seen a doctor about knee issues. I had 2 total knee replacements a few years back and it has made all the difference for me. Arthritis issues with the knees finally got to where the pain became very bad, even with pills rubs. It finally got to where I had to do something about it. I had them done on separate occasions and would recommend the same for anyone. The pain/recovery from the operations was well worth it as I am totally without pain/issues. I believe with out the replacements, I'd probably be in a wheel chair. HTH He looks like a much younger man than his age.
