Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spicefly SugarCube (Automatic MusicIP DJ)

2008-09-17 Thread pippin

I really like your plugin, good way to have a constant music experience
without ignoring 90% of your library.

A few comments:

I would really like a feature to limit the length of a playlist the way
the built-in random play does it. I'm (obviously) usually using iPeng
to control my SBs and that becomes a bit unrespronsive with playlists
with several 100 tracks so I have to clear my playlist from time to
time. An automated feature would be my #1 on the wishlist.

Turning off the slow fade feature (the one to decrease the volume
with each track) failed for me. I turned that box off but it
continued to descrease the volume. I had to set the stepping to 0 to
really turn it off.

Is there something I missed on the player sleep feature? That looks
to me like SC's built-in sleep feature?

Keep up the good work.

BTW I sympathize with you on the charset issues. This is a constant
PITA that will most likely not soled until all systems finally start to
adopt UTF8 as a default (or something similar) - aka never.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Problem: MusicInfo and Trackstat

2008-09-17 Thread Michael Herger
 I can confirm the problem, I don't think it is TrackStat related because
 I get the same problem with a format string like:
 TRACKNUM. ARTIST - TITLE

After looking at this issue I'm still not sure what causes the change in
behaviour. Are you defining your own format definitions or are you using the
MIS custom format handler? It looks as if the title formatter
(Slim::Music::Info::displayText()) did strip out anything but valid tags. Thus
my former custom tag handler won't work any more if there's more than one tag.

What I've come up with is creating tags for every player. It's dirty, but it
seems to be the only way to have player specific tags, which can't be based on
the song object:

my $id = $client-id;
$id =~ s/://g;
Slim::Music::TitleFormatter::addFormat('_MIS_REMOTE_' . $id . $tag, sub {
Plugins::MusicInfoSCR::Info::getRemoteData( $_[0], $client, $tag );
});

Maybe I'll have to do the same for all registered custom formats :-/.

Let me explain my request. In the evening i like to go to sleep with my
boom playing songs via squeezecenter. Then during the night the server
can be shutdown. However in the morning with the alarm set you don't
get music since the server is not awakened fast enough via WOL. So if

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] PowerSave: almost working...what am I missing?

2008-09-17 Thread jth

I think there is something broken in your install. I installed OpenSuse
11,
installed the rpm version of SqueezeCenter version 7.2. Then I
downloaded
and installed PowerSave.zip:

$ cd /var/lib/squeezecenter/Plugins
$ sudo unzip ~/Desktop/PowerSave-7.0r1.zip

After restarting SqueezeCenter, the plugin loaded normally:

[08-09-17 00:53:45.8875] Slim::Utils::PluginManager::enablePlugins
(432) Enabling plugin: [Plugins::PowerSave::Plugin]
[08-09-17 00:53:45.8994] Slim::Utils::PluginManager::enablePlugins
(501) Adding HTML directory:
[/usr/share/squeezecenter/Plugins/PowerSave/HTML]

And I was able to use it normally using a SoftSqueeze player.

I'd try installing another plugin, if that one doesn't work either,
it's
almost definitely a problem in your squeezecenter install or the way
you
are installing the plugins. That's about all the advice I can offer
right
now.

I'm just trying to understand how people install and run plugins.

Previous version has world execute and this is the difference.
Nautilus was probably running under a user id which is not the owner or
a member of group assigned to mplayer.sh

It seems that users install the plugin files with an ownership
different to the process (and possibly the rest of SC files) that is
running SC. It seems inconsistent and possibly could result in odd
permissions bugs.

Does it show a progress bar for the URL? This was a quick hack so I'm
not completely convinced everything works well.

You could try again by DELETING the stuff above and adding the
following to Plugins/iPeng/HTML/iPeng/plugins
(that's a different directory from the last one).

If that also has the delay: could that have something to do with
logging in to XM?
It also has some added functionality in that it enables the back
button and shows the correct title in the title bar.
I will include that in the next iPeng release and that will also come
with a toolbar shortcut for XM.

Logging in and browsing works fine for me, but I cannot test playback
since obviously XM is not streaming to Germany (it doesn't work with
the other skins as well). Now playing shows the track title and XM logo
and everything but the SB remains silent.

This is my guess - there seems to be a bug in 7.3 ( #9482) which relates
to Transcoding and results freezing actually CPU goes to 100% on one

Softsqueeze playing WMA needs Transcoding and AlienBBC playing
RealAudio needs Transcoding.

Got interested in what seems to be a really cool plug in, but it seems

I think it works on the PlayerUI, and WebUI as long as you don't use the

Hello Michael,

thanks for the patched version. It is not exactly the same behavior as
before, but it solved the problem with the rating.

In MIS i have set upper left to 'album' and lower left to 'TITLE -
ARTIST (TRACKSTATDYNAMICRATING)'. With MIS 4.1.3, instead of album, the
name of the radiostation/Playlist was shown during internet radio. Now
it shows up 'Now Playing' upper left and the correct track of the radio
station. For me it is ok now.

Thanks again :-)

 Unusual album art ?

 Do you get any error messages in the SqueezeCenter log found in web
 interface under SqueezeCenter Settings/Logging

I use filteredalbums and filteredartist. Both have the same problem but
both at a different album containing no special characters. With 7.1 and
a previous version of custom browse I had no such problem.

The server log doesn't list any message. Even though I just reproduced
the problem the last message if from 45 minutes ago.

Ah, that's easy. When a plugin is created, a developer may know that they will
only support a plugin up to a certain SqueezeCenter version number. If it
supports the latest version, some developers put that as the max version, but
in reality many plugins work in future versions.

In the plugin's folder, edit the maxVersion in the install.xml to be *.

I see. There used to be x handlers for all kinds of items. I've reworked them
to use one generic mechanism. But I haven't taken care of this detail. Will see
what I can do.

 Nevertheless, it seems to me that there is no automatic update of the
 title when the next song is played in internet radio streams :-(

In Plugin.pm almost at the bottom there's the following code:

$customFormats-{'_MIS_REMOTE_' . $tag} = {
'cb' = \Plugins::MusicInfoSCR::Info::getRemoteData,
'cache' = -1
}

Make the cache value 1 (instead of -1) and start again. Does it fix the issue?
What stream did you test with? I thought I had tested it with Radio Paradise.
Does the web UI or Controller update correctly in these cases?

Please note that I'll be away for a few days. I'm not sure whether I'll be
online before next week. So please be patient :-).

Hello, that did the trick :-) (Shoutcast: Slowradio)

The problem occured on the SB3.

Nevertheless there is a minor problem with internet radio that does not
provide title information. When i switch from a stream with title ifo to
another one without, the title from the last station will remain in the
display of SB (it is correct displayed in the web interface).

It doesn't matter what if i've activated the option for these kind of

Thanks for the home menu fix. I did a few test timers and they worked.
Haven't tried using it for anything real yet. No time for a power nap

I noticed that if the SB is powered off with the datetime screensaver

happen this way?

Would it be possible to have it not change the volume up and down if
the SB is not playing anything when the timer is triggered?

That's all for now...

I don't know that one, but from what I read about it I THINK it may not
work since it seems to override SC's volume and replace it with volume
up/volume down commands, while iPeng set's an absolute volume.

If that's true and there's a way to access these up/down commands
through the CLI (e.g. with the button volume_up and button
volume_down commands) it would be possible to build a workaround using
iPeng's own plugin interface, but you would not be able to use the

If I set the top line of the Boom for:
Top Left: PLAYTIME PROGRESSBAR Top Right: TRACKSTATRATINGDYNAMIC

Then when playing a podcast (which has no rating), the progress bar
extends off the right side of the screen so the end is cut off from
view.

Changing to TRACKSTATRATINGSTATIC instead of dynamic results in the
whole progress bar being displayed and a blank space in the top right.

Nope. I need to investigate that -- there *IS* code in KT to turn the
player on for the two minute warning, and the screensaver-defeating
code in KT should prevent even the When Idle screensaver from kicking
in. :-(

 Would it be possible to have it not change the volume up and down if the
 SB is not playing anything when the timer is triggered?

So you want it only to toggle the volume if the client had been silent?
Hmm, that should be feasible, though I haven't worked on making any of
the settings user-configurable *yet*. I had planned on making the
amount of reduction configurable, but hadn't thought about letting the
volume be constant if KT had to get the music playing. Good idea.

2008-09-17 Thread DrBIOS

Hi,

I have successfully installed SC 7.2 svn on a Buffalo LinkStation MKI

but I can not get AlienBBC to transcode rtsp streams.

I was using alienbbc-linux-v2.01b1_7.1.tar.gz but have recently started
again with the new alienbbc-linux-v2.2b1-7.1_7.2.tar.gz. The symptoms
are the same.

I have successfully compliled mplayer mplayer-1.0rc2 using the stdout
patches to mp_msg.c and ao_pcm.c. The fix point cook files haves also
been added prior to compiling. mplayer compiles OK. I can record
rtsp://rmlive.bbc.co.uk/bbc-rbs/rmlive/ev7/live24/radio2/live/r2_dsat_g2.ra
successfully to a WAV file and I can play the WAV file back on a windows
PC using windows media player (clear sound, no distortion). Playing the
WAV file using mplayer appears to do the right things in therminal

with no sound device found. See below (playback was interrupted by
