[SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: JazzFM Plugin
Based on a request from Norderney to play JazzFM streams, I've created a simple plugin to play their live and audio on demand streams. This is now available in the Other 3rd Party plugins list. The plugin uses the Flash/AAC mechanism which are part of the BBCiPlayer plugin and it requires you update to the very latest version of this (updated today to make this work). Touch/Radio playback may not work at present - if you have this problem then set "proxied streaming" for internet radio for these players. Let me know what you think. -- Triode Triode's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86078 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Just a quick response, a client will "see" the SqueezeCenter library and issues commands to play tracks to your Touch. It is useful, from my point of view, to a) allow use of more powerful software for music library browsing, playlist and playback control, b) use your choice of DLNA controllers, such as those on various handhelds, pads, etc. I find the SC software simply too limited, slow and cumbersome to use; furthermore, it has no tag management. I'd prefer one app for my library management and playback. With Whitebear, this is now quite possible and usable. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Whitebear updated version
Looking around I now see that WMP 11 on XP can't act as a DLNA client - I need either Vista and WMP 11 or Windows 7 with WMP 12. Fair enough - when I am forced, or feel a desperate need, to upgrade I will. In the Whitebear instructions, it says "In addition Whitebear is an individual UPnP/DLNA compatible Digital Media Renderer (DMR) that acts as a front end for each Logitech Squeezebox player that it finds in your home audio network. This enables UPnP/DLNA compliant Control Points to control and play music files on the respective Squeezebox player by means of the "Play To" context menu." Since WMP 11 has no 'Play To' does that mean this functionality isn't available to me, or that I need some other DNLA client? Are there any other recommended clients? How can I tell that Whitebear has 'found' my players? I see a 'Player Count' of 1 on the Status page, but can't see what this enables me to do. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Whitebear updated version
I'm not sure if this is the right place for an ignoramus to ask about Whitebear. Let me know if not. I want to be able to play my SB library over devices other than my Touch. I also see one should be able to play the SB files via WMP. I have installed Whitebear, and it says it and the SB server are running. I also installed LAME and Whitebear recognises that it is installed. Firstly, I have no idea whatsoever how to get WMP to see Whitebear as per the pictures on the Whitebear website. I know how to get WMP to see a library of files, and have done so in the past. But what is Whitebear to WMP? I'm baffled. How do I tell them to talk to eachother? Secondly, I did get my Humax PVR to see Whitebear over my network (which I assume means that my firewall is allowing the right ports to be available and UPnP to work). I can see Albums, Artists and Genres as expected. However, I can only see MP3 files, not FLACs. This also happens when I look through my music folders. I had this problem before with TVersity - they provided a new configuration file which fixed the problem. For the few MP3s I have, although I can see them via the Humax I can't play them - nothing happens when I try. I've been told the Humax PVR is a very strict and limited user of DLNA. Any ideas? This should display the album title and year for each entry. However, if you really need both album title, artist and year, I don't think it's possible to accomplish what you want without manually adjusting the XML/SQL. Some clues follows below if you know SQL/XML and want to try customizing it yourself. If you don't know SQL/XML I don't recommend you to try this. You need to change: albumconcat To: album You need to change the current SQL statement that starts with: select albums.id,albums.title from contributor_album,albums With a new statement that instead of albums.title output: (, ) The part within the parentheses will be displayed on the second row. At the time I was grumbling about the mp3 versus flac differences in tags for 'band', 'album artist' and 'albumartist'. I was slightly miffed at the time, but maybe he was right! Personally I prefer the term 'nerd' term because it sounds much younger. I took the route of assigning a 'work' and 'movement' tag to each track, as per Erland's recommendation for classical music, and it's worked very well. I've retained a CD title (or a rough approximation anyway) as 'Album', since there are times when I want to play a whole Album of mixed works as produced on CD (eg a song recital). It did, however, take an awful lot of effort to get every work/movement by several different performers to have the same work/movement and title (which is a combination of the two). -- PasTim PasTim's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41642 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86050 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom Browse - Composers - Date?
Thank you for the replies:- Erland I am using 'composers' template. I seem so have two different instances of composer.cb.values.xml usr/share/squeezeboxserver/lib/custombrowserconf/composers.cb.values.xml − composers.xml − Composers − Composers − 50 − 1 − − 0 var/lib/squeezeboxserver/Plugins/pluginsettings/composers.cb.values.xml − composers.xml − Composers − Composers − 50 − 1 Pastim On both the duet controller and iPeng for ipad which I use interchangeably. Yes, the option to show date when searching by album does work for me. I tend to search by composer most though. I understand your reservations. I tend to break up my physical albums into 'virtual' albums which contain single works. I am planning to spend some time retagging all the date fields so that they represent the actual date of performance rather than the date a particular cd was thrown together. Anal behaviour I know but it keeps me amused in retirement!
