[SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: JazzFM Plugin

2011-03-04 Thread Triode

Based on a request from Norderney to play JazzFM streams, I've created a
simple plugin to play their live and audio on demand streams. This is
now available in the Other 3rd Party plugins list.

The plugin uses the Flash/AAC mechanism which are part of the
BBCiPlayer plugin and it requires you update to the very latest version
of this (updated today to make this work).

Touch/Radio playback may not work at present - if you have this problem
then set "proxied streaming" for internet radio for these players.

Let me know what you think.

Re ETA of the next version: I hope next week.

As far as how you want your server to behave..I'll suggest a different
way of configuring SrvrPowerCtrl that I think will give you just what
you want. Please give me a couple of days to work out the details.

You need to change:

albumconcat

The "albumconcat" setting means that it will use the standard album
formatting but it will append the text from the second result column in
the SQL statement.

The problem is that the Humax doesn't appear to see any of the Flacs at
all (it sees the folders but not the files), so I can't select one to
attempt to play it. There's no log on the Humax, so I guess if this
log doesn't have enough I'll have to lump it (unless you have any other
suggestions).

As to the DLNA UPnP client, I'm having some success with foobar2000
(which I use locally on my PC) and a plugin. I'm managed to get it to
take data from Whitebear. I have also made it control the Touch. I'm
still struggling with foobar as a server to the Humax (a different
problem - it sees the files but won't play them).

Anyhow, some progress. Thanks for your help.

And so to sleep for tonight.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Custombrowse menu disappearing.

I've had this problem occur a couple times so far with 7.5.3. My custom

on one of my menus to check the settings nothing happens, though my
menus appear again. But the menu is empty. Restarting the server
brings things back. I'll attach in the DEBUG output for custombrowse.

Just a quick response, a client will "see" the SqueezeCenter library
and issues commands to play tracks to your Touch. It is useful, from
my point of view, to a) allow use of more powerful software for music
library browsing, playlist and playback control, b) use your choice of
DLNA controllers, such as those on various handhelds, pads, etc.

I find the SC software simply too limited, slow and cumbersome to use;
furthermore, it has no tag management. I'd prefer one app for my
library management and playback. With Whitebear, this is now quite
possible and usable.

Have you examined the possibilities here?:

I have attached a log starting from when I connected the Humax to

Hi,

Go to your squeezeserver configuration page:
- click on the tab 'plugins'
- scroll down to 'recommended 3rd party plugins'
- select Triode's spotify plugin
- make sure the official spotify plugin is NOT active (uncheck when you
see it listed in the 'active plugins' section)

When all is good, you will find spotify in the 'Internet Radio' of you
squeezbox.

I have now managed to get into the server with PuTTytel sofware.
However when I try to make the required directory i get the following

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Whitebear updated version

2011-03-04 Thread PasTim

Looking around I now see that WMP 11 on XP can't act as a DLNA client -
I need either Vista and WMP 11 or Windows 7 with WMP 12. Fair enough -
when I am forced, or feel a desperate need, to upgrade I will.

In the Whitebear instructions, it says "In addition Whitebear is an
individual UPnP/DLNA compatible Digital Media Renderer (DMR) that acts
as a front end for each Logitech Squeezebox player that it finds in
your home audio network. This enables UPnP/DLNA compliant Control
Points to control and play music files on the respective Squeezebox
player by means of the "Play To" context menu."

Since WMP 11 has no 'Play To' does that mean this functionality isn't
available to me, or that I need some other DNLA client? Are there any
other recommended clients?

How can I tell that Whitebear has 'found' my players? I see a 'Player
Count' of 1 on the Status page, but can't see what this enables me to
do. I am still confused.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Whitebear updated version

2011-03-04 Thread PasTim

I'm not sure if this is the right place for an ignoramus to ask about
Whitebear. Let me know if not.

I want to be able to play my SB library over devices other than my
Touch. I also see one should be able to play the SB files via WMP.

I have installed Whitebear, and it says it and the SB server are
running. I also installed LAME and Whitebear recognises that it is
installed.

Firstly, I have no idea whatsoever how to get WMP to see Whitebear as
per the pictures on the Whitebear website. I know how to get WMP to
see a library of files, and have done so in the past. But what is
Whitebear to WMP? I'm baffled. How do I tell them to talk to
eachother?

Secondly, I did get my Humax PVR to see Whitebear over my network
(which I assume means that my firewall is allowing the right ports to
be available and UPnP to work). I can see Albums, Artists and Genres
as expected. However, I can only see MP3 files, not FLACs. This also
happens when I look through my music folders. I had this problem
before with TVersity - they provided a new configuration file which
fixed the problem.

For the few MP3s I have, although I can see them via the Humax I can't
play them - nothing happens when I try. I've been told the Humax PVR
is a very strict and limited user of DLNA. Any ideas?

If there any instructions anywhere I'll be happy to read them, but I've
failed to find any.

2011-03-04 Thread glenw

Hi

I use Custom Clock and it is great. It allows me to read the Touch
screen from across the room with no problem. I also display the
bitrate of the current song.

My question is:

Is it possible to use some sort of logic with a conditional statement
to display whether a song is Hi Res or not?

e.g. if bitrate >200 display HD (or a graphic, whatever)

This would be great if it is possible.

Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom Browse - Composers - Date?

2011-03-04 Thread erland

JerryS;615373 Wrote:

If you just want the year, you can probably instead create a menu based
on the "artists" template and check the "Composer" checkbox in the
"Roles to include" option and set the name to "Composer" and make sure
the sorting option is set to "By Year". This should display the album
title and year for each entry.

However, if you really need both album title, artist and year, I don't
think it's possible to accomplish what you want without manually
adjusting the XML/SQL. Some clues follows below if you know SQL/XML and
want to try customizing it yourself. If you don't know SQL/XML I don't
recommend you to try this.

You need to change:
albumconcat
To:
album

You need to change the current SQL statement that starts with:
select albums.id,albums.title from contributor_album,albums
With a new statement that instead of albums.title output: (,
)
The part within the parentheses will be displayed on the second row.
The query from the "albums" template and its "byyear" sorting option is
probably good inspiration.

Thanks for the link. I am not an experienced user of linux server
software i.e. SB software I install through DiskManager dlivered with
Synology server and install SB package with extension spk. So it's
going to be a challenge for me to "start a TELNET session" as the the
mails says and follow up all the other instruction.

ALL Server provided menus are gone. It's an issue with both 7.6 and

Looking at how broken the logs look I have _no_ idea why this works in

Also having the disappearing menu problem with the latest builds of 7.6.
Note that the player-details menu is gone as well as many of the entries
in the 'More'-menu (i.e. apps/etc).

Downgrading to 7.6-31943 helps.

My nephew used the same posteriological term with respect to my
'tagging' habit, since I also am retired. At the time I was grumbling
about the mp3 versus flac differences in tags for 'band', 'album
artist' and 'albumartist'. I was slightly miffed at the time, but
maybe he was right! Personally I prefer the term 'nerd' term because
it sounds much younger.

I took the route of assigning a 'work' and 'movement' tag to each
track, as per Erland's recommendation for classical music, and it's
worked very well. I've retained a CD title (or a rough approximation
anyway) as 'Album', since there are times when I want to play a whole
Album of mixed works as produced on CD (eg a song recital). It did,
however, take an awful lot of effort to get every work/movement by
several different performers to have the same work/movement and title
(which is a combination of the two).

Thank you for the replies:-

Erland

I am using 'composers' template.

I seem so have two different instances of composer.cb.values.xml

On both the duet controller and iPeng for ipad which I use
interchangeably.
Yes, the option to show date when searching by album does work for me.
I tend to search by composer most though.
I understand your reservations. I tend to break up my physical albums
into 'virtual' albums which contain single works. I am planning to
spend some time retagging all the date fields so that they represent
the actual date of performance rather than the date a particular cd was
thrown together. Anal behaviour I know but it keeps me amused in
retirement!

I think you are best off using version 1.3.1 as it will automatically
install. It it failed to load there should be an error in the server
log, but if you are not used to looking at this you would be better off
using the automatically installed one.
