Hello! Thank you for the fast response!

From my point of view it seems that the actual stream - which is radio -

The log is quite short, so i will post it directly in here:

Should I enable some other logs? So far the only logs enabled are

 here goes.

I have followed the instructions carefully, installing ffmpeg and the
bpa plugin. I then copied the menu.opml to the correct directory on my
MacMini and restarted the server. No programmes in Listen Live will
 play, however.

I know that an opml file is a sort of XML, so the station URL and the
logo would usually appear on different linee, delimited by something.
When I look at my menu.opml in the OPML Playlist Browser and Editor
however, a line looks like this :

 iplayer://live?aac=http://a.files.bbci.co.uk/media/live/manifesto/audio/simulcast/hls/uk/sbr_high/ak/bbc_radio_fourfm.m3u8icon=http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/imda/logos/radio4_logomobile1-1.pngradiovis=fm/ce1/c204/09320

...which looks to me as if it's all concatenated. Wouldn't the
..m3u8icon. usually be separate lines? I am very sure this is
my problem, what I have no idea about is how to correct it! I have tried
a couple of the menu.opml's starting with post 2717.

 Can someone sort me out?

Many thanks for all this amazing work people...

The menu.opml contained in 'menu_ukhigh.zip' is in the correct format -
no edits required (I'm afraid I don't know what the OPML Playlist
Browser and Editor is).

If you look at the Apple HLS m3u8 file types (Settings, Advanced, File
Types) are at least some enabled?

This is a special iplayer specific format - the iplayer:// URL sends a
single URL to be specially processed by BBCiplayer plugin . The
Iplayer:// URL has concatentated URLs so that BBCiplayer plugin can
choose which plugin to use according to user plugin settings. A
playlist only has one order for playing - top to bottom.
I'm not sure how the BBCIplayer setting deals with the m3u8 URL as it is
not a known preference (but maybe the m3u8 URL is replacing the AAC one)
- the BBCiPlayer plugin setting are probably important so set the Live
one to the most comprehensive and allow transcoding.

the OPML Playlist Browser and Editor

This is the LMS inbuilt OPML editor - seemingly rarely found or used by
users - pity as effort went into writing it to help users..

Forget the menu.opml for now.
Checkout the PlayHLS plugin is actually working by playing a m3u8 BBC
URL in the WebUI Tune-in URL box
or perhaps a non BBC URL such as

http://hls1.addictradio.net/addictalternative_aac_hls/playlist.m3u8

I actually tried that one as the last attempt before posting but just
retried and it's the same. Am I copying the file wrongly? I am using
Terminal, cd to the .../Plugins/BBCiPlayer directory, then cp menu.opml
from my Downloads, having checked it is the correct file :

cd /blah blah/Plugins/BBCiPlayer
cp /Users/marc/Downloads/menu.opml menu.opml

when I do an ls -al, it is the new file that appears.

Yes, three file types are showing under File Types for Apple HLS :

FLAC - ffmpeg
mp3 - ffmpeg/lame
PCM - ffmpeg

I am definitely missing something simple or doing something idiotic.

@bpa Oh well not that then.

The sbr and controller to control

I'm wondering if taking the gpu below 16mb (i think i went down to 6 or
8) is not good in any solution other than ssh access only?

I checked this am and playing boom and sbr controlled by squeeze
commander didn't take the cpu above 20 and ffmpeg when playing radio
didn't go above 30%.

I tried local music and new bbc streams

I also tried synchronised and un synchronised

So the 99% cpu load yesterday was due to something and pushing the gpu
up might have helped this?

It's not as bad as it looks.

Instead of ffmpeg doing the HLS, AAC decode and Flac encode - the link
shows how to get 3 separate applications to do the same - ffmpeg does
HLS and then passes AAC to faad to decode which then passes PCM to Flac
to encode.

With 3 separate application
1. You can monitor which aspects has most load CPU/ memory
2. Change the application (e.g. there is a fixed point build of faad
with LMS for slower ARm boxes)
3. Change encoding options - Flac uses lots of FPU to encode - I think
level 0 does not use FPU but level 1 could be better on pi as Pi has a
FPU

Does that make sense to you? I'll bump up the cpu to 32mb this evening

Graphics for Boom and duet does not use GPU.

Are you playing two streams simultaneously ?
When you mean Duet - it is to the SBR or to the controller ?

to do the same - ffmpeg does HLS and then passes AAC to faad to decode
which then passes PCM to Flac to encode.

 With 3 separate application
 1. You can monitor which application affects CPU/ memory most
 2. Change the application (e.g. there is a fixed point build of faad
with LMS for slower ARm boxes)
 3. Change encoding options - Flac uses lots of FPU to encode - I think
level 0 does not use FPU but level 1 could be better on pi as Pi has a
 FPU

I'll give it a whirl!! Thanks

Checkout the PlayHLS plugin is actually working by playing a m3u8 BBC
URL in the WebUI Tune-in URL box
or perhaps a non BBC URL such as

 http://hls1.addictradio.net/addictalternative_aac_hls/playlist.m3u8

The inbuilt OPML editor is the only way I could think of to check the
format of what LMS was trying to play.

I cut a URL similar to the one you show above using the OPML editor and
created a new favourite using that URL, ending in m3u8 and it worked
fine, so I am confident the PlayHLS plugin is working.

Of course I can get all this to work using this method, cutting and
pasting URLs and creating favourites that way, I just thought it would
be nice to do it properly..

If nobody has any thoughts on what may be wrong, that is how I will
proceed, it's no biggie..

Thanks for helping.

Hi - I followed the instructions in the README file for the script here

In summary, you need IPKG first. this is perhaps the trickiest bit
because you have to select the correct boostrap file, but it's explained
 here.
 http://forum.synology.com/wiki/index.php/Overview_on_modifying_the_Synology_Server,_bootstrap,_ipkg_etc

 Once ipkg is installed...
 run : ipkg update
 run : ipkg install bash

Then you drop back into the instructions for the script (the Read ME
 file above)

NB One of the instructions for the script involved running 'git clone'
which did not work for me, so I installed GIT Server via the Synology
DSM Package Centrer. This seemed like over-kill (One more sledge-hammer
to crack this tricky little nut !) I don't want or need a GIT Server.
There may be a simple workaround to get the GIT command - but I was
tired and this worked so ...

 Anyway - hope this helps

Thanks for all that info, I tried to do everything as per instructions
but got some errors. I too had to resort to installing Git but it
actually allowed me to get hold of a new version of ffmeg, however, I
can't run the ffmpegInstaller.sh no matter how I try!

@bpa now doesn't think my problem is with ffmpeg anyway so we'll have to
wait and see.

Sorry for my english, I'm not a native speaker. I will try to make
things as clear as possible.

I have one Raspberry Pi serving as LMS Server, another Raspberry Pi as
Player in RoomA and a Squeezebox Touch as Player in RoomB. RoomA and
RoomB are synced. Currently LMS Serves Audio Streams (Radio), mp3 and CD
Audio which workes fine.

I also want to stream from the LineIn of the soundcard connected to the
LMS to the players. As far as I understood that is what WaveIn should be
for. Pls correct me if I'm wrong.

So the chain should look like this.

LAN - WebRadio -\
HDD - mp3 - \- LMS - WLAN - / Room A
CD Drive - CD Audio - / \ Room B
SoundCard - LineIn -/

I can record from LineIn to a wave file using arecord -D plughw:1 -f
cd test.wav and I can play this using aplay -D plughw:1 test.wav.

I have created a Favourite named Line In with the parameter
wavein:plughw:1

What I have done to produce the logfile in my last post was:

- Playing a stream from webradio
(http://opml.radiotime.com/Tune.ashx?id=s44255formats=aac,ogg,mp3,wma,wmvoicepartnerId=16serial=a7a5d66134588d3135a8bc03f8a096ce)
which played fine.
- Then I klicked on play on the Favourite LineIn.
- The webradio was terminated and the playlist showed empty

I have tracked down in ffmpeg source code to failure to open a codec.
Odd since same command line from shell prompt works so at the moment
my guess is somehow codec file paths are messed up in the Synoloigy
shell (which is ash and so less functional than bash)

Is this any use, it's talking about ffmpeg on Synology and exec being
disabled?

Thanks for the reply, the BBC iplayer app that I downloaded from the

Again programs ( in 44.1 bitrate) but the Listen Live feeds (which were
up to 192 bitrate) have gone and I just get the recorded voice
explaining about WMA.

I basically would like to get things back as close as I can back to the
way they were .. Sorry I know that sounds simplistic ( but so am I) but
the joys of the BBC iPlayer was everything was there easy to hand ..
I've looked at the thread about the BBC iplayer but I'm still not sure
if I do what Ronnie recommended will this put everything back it was
before the change to WMA?

I have my SB Touch with digital output to a CA DACMagic, the Touch is
hardwired to my network and I run LMS for WHS on a Window Home Server V1
which has all my music files in FLAC.

This link is now working for me:
http://a.files.bbci.co.uk/media/live/manifesto/audio/simulcast/hls/uk/sbr_high/ak/bbc_radio_four_extra.m3u8
on my Squeezebox Radio.

However, I cannot find the menu.opml file with the new URLs that I had
to replace under Linux. Windows Explorer seach does not find it - is it
a different file under Windows or is there a different method?

Thanks,

permissions on any LMS folders or files.

I hope someone with enough knowledge of your linux version and ffmpeg
can determine what the issue is. Clearly when run as admin ffmpeg is
trying to use something it isn't allowed to use. It may diagnose your
problem if you could post the output of:

As title.
I am guessing it should be a case of copying a file(s) from A to B but
which file(s)?

plugin/smartmix.prefs from your prefs folder (see Settings/Information
for its location). When you copy the full file, then you should remove
the catalog ID from it before using it on the new machine. Otherwise
your mixes might fail to play.

Well done Klammer Pastim. I hadn't noticed that there were two user
ids - root and admin. IIRC LMS runs under Admin.
Also it is now clear that The Videostation package provides ffmpeg and
my guess is that the Videostation ffmpeg libraries have different
permissions to the ffmpeg binaries and it is a case of changing the
permissions.

Can you do following commands logged in as root, they should show the
permissions and owner of the ffmpeg files.

ls -l /usr/syno/bin/ffmpeg
ls -l /volume1/@appstore/VideoStation/bin/ffmpeg
ls -l /volume1/@appstore/VideoStation/lib/ffmpeg

Has anyone tried or looked at GPAC as a player for HLS streams?

http://gpac.wp.mines-telecom.fr/

I haven't been able to try anything yet (will take a look when I get
home after work) but the player it includes (Osmo4) says it can handle
both HLS and MPEG-DASH streams, which means it could very well provide a
future proofed solution for when the BBC decide to migrate to
MPEG-DASH?

I'll see if I can get it running this evening and feed back, you never
know, transcoding load might also be less than ffmpeg (you never know).

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

Hello,

I'm using a home automation system called Domoticz.

I already added a play/pause button and now I want a shortcut to certain
spotify playlist. This way I want to be able to start playing certain
music with one button. Of course I need a HTTP link to achieve this.

QUESTIONB 1: HOW CAN I PLAY A SPOTIFY PLAYLIST WITH ONE HTTP STRING?

What I've seen is that my spotify playlists are indexed (3.2.0), and it
opens a webpage to the appropriate playlist, it just does not start to
play. Can you help me?

I tried this as a link:
192.168.1.5:9000/plugins/spotify/index.html?index=3.2.0player=00%3A04%3A20%3A22%3A0e%3Ab9p0=play

*Question 2: How can I search Spotify with one HTTP string?*

You need to look in the directory which ends with

opml is the foundation of LMS menus and you can do lots of tricks with
it in conjunction with a plugin but the editor doesn't support those
fields.

From one of the error messages you posted, and the issues with the

I think you said ffmpeg will play a link directly on a terminal line -
is that right? If so, is it worth checking the PlayHLS files, and
ffmpeg itself, are all OK for your LMSuser? It is probably all OK,
 but you never know, so:

Code:

   /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/PlayHLS$ ls -la

   -rwxr--r-- 1 squeezeboxserver nogroup 208 Feb 12 2008 strings.txt~

So in your case use the same user and group you used in
 .../BBCiPlayer.
 And in Bin:

Code:

   /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/PlayHLS/Bin$ ls -la
   total 12
   drwxr-xr-x 2 squeezeboxserver nogroup 4096 Feb 13 11:49 .

   -rwxrw-r-- 1 squeezeboxserver nogroup 306 Feb 13 09:42 playhls.sh

Note the access rights on playhls.sh (or whatever your is now called -
use chmod 764 ...). The 7 makes sure that the user can execute the
 script.

Have you made any other relevant changes that might work only for
 root?

From one of the error messages you posted, and the issues with the

I think you said ffmpeg will play a link directly on a terminal line -
is that right? If so, is it worth checking the PlayHLS files, and
ffmpeg itself, are all OK for your LMSuser? It is probably all OK, but
  you never know, so:

Note the access rights on playhls.sh (or whatever your is now called -
use chmod 764 ...). The 7 makes sure that the user can execute the
  script.

Have you made any other relevant changes that might work only for root?

I don't understand the first part of your post regarding terminal
 line, sorry.

Here are the permissions for playhls.sh:

 drwxr-xr-x2 adminusers 4096 Feb 17 20:04 .
 drwxr-xr-x3 adminusers 4096 Feb 17 20:04 ..
 -rwxrwxr-x1 adminusers 1215 Feb 17 18:53 playhls.sh

I only changed permissions for menu.opml as you suggested and I now
have all the new streams available.

 -rwxr-xr-x1 adminusers27412 Feb 17 21:32 menu.opml

 Does that help?

 Thanks,
 Paul

Hi Michael,
I have same issue too often this days. Deleting cache.db is working, but
it's not solving the problem for good. I have also set Most recently
played (days) to 0, from smartmix advanced settings, hoping that works
as workaround, but I'm having same issue.

Hi Tim,

I have only only run ffmpeg using bpa's instructions in order to
generate debug logs and test .fls files.

Here's the PlayHLS folder permissions:

Here are the permissions for playhls.sh:

drwxr-xr-x 2 admin users 4096 Feb 17 20:04 .
drwxr-xr-x 3 admin users 4096 Feb 17 20:04 ..

I think it's OK?

I already had Klammer run a modified version of playhls.sh which logs
its activities - so the script is run.
Things go wrong for reasons I don't always fully understand, for
instance the menu.opml permissions, and it seems I was not the only one.
So I was just asking Klammer to check everything else he has changed.
No doubt you are right, but there's no harm being 100% sure is there?

Well done Klammer Pastim. I hadn't noticed that there were two user
ids - root and admin. IIRC LMS runs under Admin.
Also it is now clear that The Videostation package provides ffmpeg and
my guess is that the Videostation ffmpeg libraries have different
permissions to the ffmpeg binaries and it is a case of changing the
 permissions.

Can you do following commands logged in as root, they should show the
permissions and owner of the ffmpeg files.

 ls -l /usr/syno/bin/ffmpeg
 ls -l /volume1/@appstore/VideoStation/bin/ffmpeg
 ls -l /volume1/@appstore/VideoStation/lib/ffmpeg
 ls -l /volume1/@appstore/VideoStation/lib/ffmpeg/libav*

All done!

I think so - LMS is installed as admin / nogroup so I think admin is not
in the root group and so libraries have x permission but I think
libraries need r permission.

logged in as root - the following command will add r permissions to
all the ffmpeg file.

chmod -R o+r /volume1/@appstore/VideoStation/lib/ffmpeg

After this change perhaps you could test a BBC m3u8 from LMS.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayer Plugin (UK only)

2015-02-18 Thread Milhouse

Anyone using a Raspberry Pi (version 1 or 2) with Raspbian and LMS will
want a more recent version of ffmpeg as the currently available ffmpeg
(v0.8.16-1+rpi1) is pretty old and - more importantly - doesn't die.

Easiest solution:

1. Download the tar file on this page:
http://fattylewis.com/latest-ffmpeg-compiled-for-rasbian
2. Extract it, and copy arm/bin/ffmpeg to /usr/bin/ffmpeg

This should result in the following ffmpeg version being installed on
your Pi, and it works perfectly with BBC iPlayer and the latest
streams:

Code:

  ffmpeg version N-60774-gc427b2b
  built on Feb 20 2014 16:29:13 with gcc 4.7.1 (crosstool-NG 1.15.2) 20120402
