I have followed the instructions carefully, installing ffmpeg and the bpa plugin. I then copied the menu.opml to the correct directory on my MacMini and restarted the server. No programmes in Listen Live will play, however. I know that an opml file is a sort of XML, so the station URL and the logo would usually appear on different linee, delimited by something. When I look at my menu.opml in the OPML Playlist Browser and Editor however, a line looks like this : iplayer://live?aac=http://a.files.bbci.co.uk/media/live/manifesto/audio/simulcast/hls/uk/sbr_high/ak/bbc_radio_fourfm.m3u8icon=http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/imda/logos/radio4_logomobile1-1.pngradiovis=fm/ce1/c204/09320 ...which looks to me as if it's all concatenated. I have tried a couple of the menu.opml's starting with post 2717. This is a special iplayer specific format - the iplayer:// URL sends a single URL to be specially processed by BBCiplayer plugin . The Iplayer:// URL has concatentated URLs so that BBCiplayer plugin can choose which plugin to use according to user plugin settings. A playlist only has one order for playing - top to bottom. I'm not sure how the BBCIplayer setting deals with the m3u8 URL as it is not a known preference (but maybe the m3u8 URL is replacing the AAC one) - the BBCiPlayer plugin setting are probably important so set the Live one to the most comprehensive and allow transcoding. the OPML Playlist Browser and Editor This is the LMS inbuilt OPML editor - seemingly rarely found or used by users - pity as effort went into writing it to help users.. Forget the menu.opml for now. Checkout the PlayHLS plugin is actually working by playing a m3u8 BBC URL in the WebUI Tune-in URL box or perhaps a non BBC URL such as http://hls1.addictradio.net/addictalternative_aac_hls/playlist.m3u8 bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=53229 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

@bpa Oh well not that then. The sbr and controller to control I'm wondering if taking the gpu below 16mb (i think i went down to 6 or 8) is not good in any solution other than ssh access only? I checked this am and playing boom and sbr controlled by squeeze commander didn't take the cpu above 20 and ffmpeg when playing radio didn't go above 30%. I tried local music and new bbc streams I also tried synchronised and un synchronised So the 99% cpu load yesterday was due to something and pushing the gpu up might have helped this? With 3 separate application 1. You can monitor which aspects has most load CPU/ memory 2. Change the application (e.g. there is a fixed point build of faad with LMS for slower ARm boxes) 3. Change encoding options - Flac uses lots of FPU to encode - I think level 0 does not use FPU but level 1 could be better on pi as Pi has a FPU bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103158 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Instead of ffmpeg doing the HLS, AAC decode and Flac encode - the link shows how to get 3 separate applications (they are separated by the | ) to do the same - ffmpeg does HLS and then passes AAC to faad to decode which then passes PCM to Flac to encode. With 3 separate application 1. You can monitor which application affects CPU/ memory most 2. Change the application (e.g. there is a fixed point build of faad with LMS for slower ARm boxes) 3. Change encoding options - Flac uses lots of FPU to encode - I think level 0 does not use FPU but level 1 could be better on pi as Pi has a FPU I'll give it a whirl!! bpa wrote: This is the LMS inbuilt OPML editor - seemingly rarely found or used by users - pity as effort went into writing it to help users.. Forget the menu.opml for now. Checkout the PlayHLS plugin is actually working by playing a m3u8 BBC URL in the WebUI Tune-in URL box or perhaps a non BBC URL such as http://hls1.addictradio.net/addictalternative_aac_hls/playlist.m3u8 The inbuilt OPML editor is the only way I could think of to check the format of what LMS was trying to play. I cut a URL similar to the one you show above using the OPML editor and created a new favourite using that URL, ending in m3u8 and it worked fine, so I am confident the PlayHLS plugin is working. Of course I can get all this to work using this method, cutting and pasting URLs and creating favourites that way, I just thought it would be nice to do it properly.. If nobody has any thoughts on what may be wrong, that is how I will proceed, it's no biggie.. Thanks for helping. When run from playhls.sh from a shell prompt - ffmpeg stops after 3 secs. with the following error Code: Error while opening decoder for input stream #0:0 : Operation not permitted I have tracked down in ffmpeg source code to failure to open a codec. Has anyone tried or looked at GPAC as a player for HLS streams? http://gpac.wp.mines-telecom.fr/ I haven't been able to try anything yet (will take a look when I get home after work) but the player it includes (Osmo4) says it can handle both HLS and MPEG-DASH streams, which means it could very well provide a future proofed solution for when the BBC decide to migrate to MPEG-DASH? I'll see if I can get it running this evening and feed back, you never know, transcoding load might also be less than ffmpeg (you never know). odw199's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15387 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103158 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayer Plugin (UK only)
Anyone using a Raspberry Pi (version 1 or 2) with Raspbian and LMS will want a more recent version of ffmpeg as the currently available ffmpeg (v0.8.16-1+rpi1) is pretty old and - more importantly - doesn't die. Easiest solution: 1. Download the tar file on this page: http://fattylewis.com/latest-ffmpeg-compiled-for-rasbian 2. Extract it, and copy arm/bin/ffmpeg to /usr/bin/ffmpeg This should result in the following ffmpeg version being installed on your Pi, and it works perfectly with BBC iPlayer and the latest streams: Code: ffmpeg version N-60774-gc427b2b built on Feb 20 2014 16:29:13 with gcc 4.7.1 (crosstool-NG 1.15.2) 20120402 (prerelease) configuration: --enable-cross-compile --cross-prefix=/opt/tools/arm-bcm2708/arm-bcm2708hardfp-linux-gnueabi/bin/arm-bcm2708hardfp-linux-gnueabi- --arch=armel --target-os=linux --prefix=/home/jon/arm --enable-gpl --enable-libx264 --enable-nonfree --extra-cflags=-I/home/jon/arm/include --extra-ldflags=-L/home/jon/arm/lib --extra-libs=-ldl libavutil 52. 65.100 / 52. 65.100 libavcodec 55. 52.102 / 55. 52.102 libavformat55. 33.100 / 55. 33.100 libavdevice55. 10.100 / 55. 10.100 libavfilter 4. 1.103 / 4. 1.103 libswscale 2. 5.101 / 2. 5.101 libswresample 0. 17.104 / 0. 17.104 libpostproc52. 3.100 / 52. 3.100 Milhouse's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=928 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=53229 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
