Can you send me a UPnPBridge log? Just enable log in the plugin's
settings and click the link to view log (all in the same page). Please
do not enable "additional debugging", leave it to none.

It's not clear to me what you're referring to here...

The only install.xml files I see are in for each installed plugin, E.g.
"./cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/Qobuz/install.xml". I don't see any
repo.xml files, which don't live in the main "/var/lib/squeezeboxserver"
(?).

Can you be a little more specific about files/paths? And, what, if
anything, I should manually do to prevent incompatible plugins from
showing up as installable?

There are LMS versions in two places: repo XML (controls listing in
3rdpaty list) and Plugin install.xml (controls installation in LMS)
Must be something left behind in a repo XML - because incompatible
version shouldn't even appear on the 3rd party list.
I thought I had cleared it out with the V8.* updates.

Current work is in the '125-advanced-search' git branch (125 as that was
its original issue number!). I've actually copied
Slim/Web/Pages/Search.pm and modified so it returns a list of tracks and
albums. Code is not finished - current UI does not send genres. And the
search page is as overloaded as the exiting advanced-search, just using
vuetitify widgets. I might modify it so that only certain fields are
initially shown, and add a menu to display the other fields. Saving to a
virtual library works, but I'm not sure of the usefulness of saving
searches so that is not currently implemented.

will be logged here.

I'd never installed the NPR Radio plugin until today, so it doesn't seem
that it carried over from a previous LMS version .

Also, enabling the "Update plugins automatically" option has
auto-magically removed the traces from both
"../prefs/plugin/extension.prefs" and
"../cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins".

Seems like LMS should remove incompatible plugins from the 3rd party
listing entirely, or list them and disallow install.

Thank again.

Oh wow... that's one of the more obscure places in LMS, I find. Would
you mimic LMS' behaviour and implement everything client side? There's
not really a CLI for it. I've often wanted to have something better (eg.
don't overload the page with all possible items), but it would be a lot
of work, front- and back-end. But then I've often wanted to have a
better default UI in general :-)

Thanks for the clarification - I've added an issue on Material's github
and will fix this for 2.3.0 ... I'm busy implementing 'Advanced search'
natively in Material...

*Material debug:* 1. Launch via http: //SERVER:9000/material/?debug=json

Ok, you're close. Here's the only place where LMS is using the
include_online_only_artists flag:

Code:

# only get external artists without album if no filter is set
my $queryTags = 'Es';
if ( ($library_id && $library_id ne
(Slim::Music::VirtualLibraries->getLibraryIdForClient($client) || ''))
|| ($search && !scalar grep { $_ !~ /^library_id:/} @searchTags)
|| (scalar grep { $_ !~ /^role_id:.*ALBUMARTIST|^library_id:/}
@searchTags)
) {
$queryTags = 's';
}
else {
push @searchTags, 'include_online_only_artists:1'
}

https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver/blob/e2f699cbc7fa06988bd3321c725ac8bb478ff06f/Slim/Menu/BrowseLibrary.pm#L1090

Which I read pretty much like what the comment says. Do NOT include
"online only artists" if:

- a library_id is defined, and it's not the player's default library
- there is a search term
- there is a filter criteria other than role_id:ALBUMARTIST

So contrary to what I thought your guess was right: we would show that
list on an album artists list, assuming that all artists "liked" on a
streaming service would also be an album artist.

The NPR plugin no longer works as NPR changed their API and there is no
update. What probably happened is you upgraded LMS and the old NPR
plugin (now incompatible) got carried along but cannot be updated so
left in limbo. I thought LMS would delete it.

I think the way to delete it is to stop LMS and edit the
prefs/extension.prefs file and delete the line with "NPR:1 " and also
delete the NPR directory in Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins. Then
restart LMS.

The problem is, I use none of this so have no idea how/if it works (as
in Material's usage of). So, -should- I use include_online_artists:1
with role_id:ALBUMARTIST for the album artists, or *only* when no
role_id is specified? Please don't say its up to me, as (as stated) I
dont use this - so really don't know what it -should- be. My -guess- is
that it should be used in the "Artists", "All Artists", and "Album

rol_id, or rol_id:ALBUMARTIST

I had to add Virgin Radio as a favourite recently for SWMBO who now
listens to it at the weekend because Graham Norton has moved across. I
can’t stand his radio show - he likes the sound of his own voice far too
much for my liking - but I suppose it will be preferable for my displays

Maybe I found a solution. LMS should set default 'Apply to: All music
library' for 'Composers' in plugin "Additional Browse Modes".

How is a client to know when include_online_artists *and* role_id can be
used together, and when not? Or are they exclusive? Material uses both

It's really up to you when you want to use it:

- you only want contributors of a specific role: don't use it
- you want contributors of a specific role AND all of the remote only
artists: use it

The flag really is there to tell LMS to return all the online only
contributors. This is required as lack of role information they
otherwise could not be shown. Once you understand what that means you
can decide whether you want that or not. In most cases where you wish to
filter by role you probably don't want to use it.

for AlbumArtists - is that also affected? Or is it *only* composer,
conductor, and band that cannot be used with include_online_artists

The flag will tell LMS to return all online only artists. They have no
role information. Therefore it doesn't matter what role you want to
filter by.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] How to Remove Incompatible Plugins

2021-02-18 Thread rootee

I've tried installing the NPR Radio plugin, and get "Plugin is
incompatible with this version of Logitech Media Server. Please update."
In "Server Settings"->Plugins I see no option to update, nor a way to
remove from the active plugins section (see attached). The only way
I've found to remove the unchecked/non-updateable NPR Radio from active
plugins is to enable "Update plugins automatically". Should I just
avoid NPR Radio plugin? Is this a bug with the LMS plugin manager?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: UPnPBridge = integrate UPnP/DLNA players with LMS (squeeze2upnp)

2021-02-18 Thread Mortadelo

Hi,

Firstable, my congrats and my appreciation for the great work by the LMS
team and Philippe developing LMS and the Upnp Bridge.

I've been using an LMS server (Daphile in particular) for some weeks and
I think it's very good. I listen to FLAC files on a Synology NAS (with
LMS connected to it using DLNA/Upnp), Tidal and Radio Paradise. My
clients are a local Squeezebox client on the server and a Upnp-connected
Pioneer N-50A streamer.

In the last days I'm having an issue when listening to the Synology NAS
music: the playback stops after each song, being required to forward
manually to the next one. It happens with all songs on the NAS.

It only happens when streaming to my Pioneeer streamer via Upnp. It
doesn't happen streaming from this NAS to the local Squeezebox client on
the Daphile server. It doesn't happen either when streaming Tidal and
Radio Paradise to the Pioneer or streaming FLAC music on the Daphile
server to the Pioneer, or even directly from the NAS to Foobar2000 via
Upnp, without involving LMS. So I think it could be related to the Upnp
bridge.

I've tested many configurations, the "play all songs" in the LMS setup
is checked for both clients and I've searched on the Internet, with no
answers to this question.

Please, any ideas?

Thank you very much in advance.

They do provide quite a lot of information about the playing track :

After all this time I have just noticed that the icon for the Radio
France plugin only shows correctly when the plugin appears in My Apps.
If it appears in Radio the icon is replaced with a generic symbol. I
only noticed this when I installed the new Virgin Radio plugin from
@expectingtofly . I see the the same generic icon for that when it is in
the Radio section.
It also looks like the Radio France icon hasn't been mapped to a
Material icon.

@ryandkg

First, your getting there

Second, the method decribed by Gerrelts is several years old, when
PulseAudio was deprecated by the rpi foundation.

Now they have decided that it is "the bees knees". I think it's to do
with easy bluetooth, or something

I have just completed a squeezelite install on the Buster Desktop.

select output

scroll to bottom and add

works for me :)

I did use alsamixer to set the audio to max on both of the devices
listed (HDMI and Headphone)

I attempted this one but got an error, the details of which I don't have
at hand. Something about being unable to load...??? Sorry, I as said
above, I'm building a new image now.

I'm not sure what might be opening the device except for some OS
process. I haven't installed any other apps or opened anything other
than alsamixer and some terminal windows.

If my next attempt with Raspian Lite is not successful, I'll circle back
to this card (which I haven't overwritten yet) and see what kind of
debug info I can get.

Did you check volume ?
Different devices can have different settings.

Until you have things settled, I'd avoid "hw:" as they require the
output to be matched to the input with no conversion.
Try "plughw:" devices first as they support ALSA software conversion
which increase chances of audio output.

So, the things that I have noted are:

IIRC Pulseaudio is now standard with Buster. This can have an effect if
applications are sharing audio.

If there is no output with an ALSA device it is possible some other
application has already "opened" the device and so squeezelite has no
access - but no error will show.

Try enabling logging such as "-d output=info" to show what is happening
when handling output device

I understand better now. In flow mode, the lack of metadata is normal as
the bridge acts like a webradio. So if you want "some" metadata, you
must use mp3 as a re-encoding method that will allow "in-band" metadata
to be added using icy protocol.

The stuttering & stops sounds like an under-CPU or network problem.
There is much more CPU required for decoding and then re-encoding the
audio and then sending it over wireless can be very bandwidth consuming
if you use PCM. I've just tried again on my Sonos device with a Pi4 and
flow (with flac) works fine.

How is a client to know when include_online_artists *and* role_id can be
used together, and when not? Or are they exclusive? Material uses both
for AlbumArtists - is that also affected? Or is it *only* composer,
conductor, and band that cannot be used with include_online_artists

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Squeezelite on rPi 3 suddenly not working

2021-02-18 Thread ryandkg

Here is the result so far...

1) Raspberry Pi OS with desktop Jan 11/21 installed WITHOUT updates at
initial configuration (only set locale info, no wi-fi, no updates)

2) from terminal window:

Code:

sudo apt-get -y update && sudo apt-get -y dist-upgrade
  echo "unset autoindent" >> ~/.nanorc
  sudo nano /etc/hostname #(set to rPi4)
  sudo nano /etc/hosts

-rebooted-
-skipped wi-fi setup-

Code:

sudo alsamixer *#set to full volume on -1 bcm2835 Headphones-*
  sudo apt-get install -y libflac-dev libfaad2 libmad0
  cd
  mkdir squeezelite
  cd squeezelite

To test output off audio jack using a powered speaker

Code:

sudo /usr/bin/squeezelite-armv6hf -o sysdefault:CARD=Headphones

I could see the instance of the player, and that it was the correct
version 1.9.8-1344, in the LMS but this resulted in no audio.

Next I tried simply

Code:

sudo /usr/bin/squeezelite-armv6hf

Success! Audio output.

Then I tried with *hw:CARD=Headphones,DEV=0* and all of the other
"bcm2835 Headphones" devices and either got no sound or various error
messages.

So, the things that I have noted are:

- *Man in a van*'s tutorial is using Raspian Lite and I have been
  using Raspian OS with Desktop.
- I have noticed an oddity in the result of the output from the *sudo
/usr/bin/squeezelite-armv6hf -l* command. When I issue that command
in a terminal window on the pi desktop, the device "default" is at the
top of the list, referring to PulseAudio. When I ssh to the pi, the
same command does NOT show this first line of a "default" device,
rather the first device listed is "null". I'm not sure if this is
  significant.
- The other difference is that *Man in a van*'s tutorial shows that
his audio devices are listing as *CARD=ALSA* rather than the
  *CARD=Headphone* that I am seeing.

I believe this last point to be the most important. I'm not sure if it
is related to the first point (ie the OS difference). I have seen some
info about PulseAudio but don't know enough about it to judge its impact
in this situation. In order to explore this further I'm going to burn
another fresh image, this time with Raspian Lite and go through this
process again.

As before, I'll report back

Ripping with dbpoweramp - then:
Basic Tagging with mp3tag - Basic means, Genre which i want, comments
etc.
Jakoz - this Tool uses discogs and musicbrainz
musicbrainz picard - to fill the rest
mediamonkey - for Lyrics
Beatunes - for BPM and Mood

Each tool after mp3tag is configured to only modify/fill specific
fields/tags which i have defined beforehand.

Goal is to fill as much as possible automatically. Unfortunately not
every tool does everything. mp3tag is the beginning master and defines
my "must have" fixed lookalike tags. All tools after mp3tags are the
automatic, fill the rest, tools.

finish for publishing

I obviously don't agree. You not only tell it to filter by role, but you
also tell it to include all online only artists. Which parameter takes
precedence is not documented. But again, I'd claim that this is obvious,
as the parameter to include online only artists only was added to
overcome the limitation of LMS to not return contributors which don't
have a role. Don't explicitly ask to include those artists if you don't
want them.

I agree that artists can take different roles, hence why LMS has the
different roles. I can change Material, but the API is *broken*. If I
ask to filter on a role, *only* artists that match that role should be
returned. If an artist has no role, because you cannot detect what it
is, then it can't match the filter and should be discarded.

No, I add that parameter to all "artists" queries. Still, there may come
a time when you can get the artist role from a service (unlikely I

When behaviour is not defined you must expect the surprise :-). But
considering the fact that many artists would take different roles
depending on what work they're on, it's clear to me that you shouldn't
expect a role to be defined without a work. Even classical composers
might be considered performers or conductors if recordings were done
back in the days.

I'd strongly suggest you don't request online only artists when
filtering by role.

No, I add that parameter to all "artists" queries. Still, there may come
a time when you can get the artist role from a service (unlikely I
know). Nothing in the API says these two cannot be used together. I can
check and if a composer/conductor/band role_id is used then don't add
this, but I think it would be better if LMS handled it. The, if you ever
did get these roles from a service, nothing needs to change. To me the
queries read "get me all artists, even ones that are only online, which
have role X"

For me it seems.to be just Artists with albums imported from Spotify
even if the Artist is already in my library. Another related bug is that
of you then select one of these Artists you see this.[image:

WRT. to Composers (and other roles) when using an online service: as
you're sending the "include_online_only_artists:1" parameter you'll get
all contributors which are online only. As they are online only, we
don't have any tracks of them in the collection. Which means we have no
role information either. But using that "include_online_only_artists:1"
flag you tell LMS to include them anyway. To fix this issue you probably
shouldn't use that flag when limiting by role.

Please let me know if this is a query you actually got from LMS :D.

Thanks Phil!

I did actually mange to get it running in form of add-on: "Squeezebox
for Kodi" which required "Multimedia Tools" you mentioned. There was way
to even update it and also to patch "Squeezebox for Kodi" add-on so it
doesn't stop playback after few seconds. Also tweak of code to rename
player permanently.
So technically I got this in working state but comparing to previous
squeezelite on OSMC is little weird: Almost every day I can see player
is "powered on" even when no one has used it. Sometimes TV will turn on
because of it .. like when transferring queue to different player.. I
probably can live with all of that, but was wondering if there is better
way other then addon form.. On OSMC squeezelite was in form of "normal"
install and was working perfectly without any issues. Thanks

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: UPnPBridge = integrate UPnP/DLNA players with LMS (squeeze2upnp)

2021-02-18 Thread sachadog

Hi Philippe,

I have come across from my other thread on LMS, as requested.

On that thread is the settings on the bridge for my system. I attached
a screen print.

What I have found is that in the previous version, I was using it, as
is. I didn't know about the "flow mode". I had left the settings as
supplied and my system ran and it played music, track by track, no
problems.

However, when I started to use the "flow" mode in the current version,
the music stutters and stops, on whatever piece of equipment I use, be
it internet radios or my new streaming unit. The radios have a colour
screen and show the album art and artist details etc. With "flow" mode
selected with Flac selected, the music, as I said stutters and stops.
But furthermore, I no longer get the artwork or the artist details. All
I get is a dialogue similar to "Streaming From LMS, Unknown Artist,
Unknown Song and a ? on the screen. When I use the system with my
Yamaha wireless speakers, they dont have the artist details, but the
music stutters and stops.

Taking the system out of "flow" mode and everything returns to normal.

Because I have two computers that can supply music to my system, I kept
one computer on the previous version of the plugin and one computer on
the latest version. They both showed the same problems with "flow" mode
selected.

I consider the plugin is brilliant. It's enabled me to have music in
various places around the house and now my Touch is virtually at end of
life, the plugin has become more important.

Obviously I have come across a problem that you may know how to sort. I
am an enthusiastic user, but I have my limitations when sorting these
types of problems.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom Scan - Multi Value tags

2021-02-18 Thread Shozzer

The following examples might help:

Using semicolons to create multiple tags. The data stays as one tag.

33426

Using \\ to create multiple tags. The data is divided into separate
tags.

33427

So, in the latter case the genre was entered in mp3tag as:
Classical\\Solo Piano\\Baroque and now shows as three separate genres.

Hope this helps.

I have installed Paul Webster's "CBC Canada (English) track info" plugin
if that's what you mean? That is where the disconnect lies (I think!).

RadioNEt just provides the URL - it has no involvement when playing. Any
program metadata is in the radio stream.

Have you installed the CBC plugins which provides the metadata for CBC
stream from the website ?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Squeezelite on LibreELEC?

2021-02-18 Thread florca

Hi - There's a Program Add-on in the LibreELEC library called
"Multimedia Tools" that includes a version of Squeezelite, along with a
bunch of other stuff. No idea how old the version is - I tried it a few
years back out of interest, I think it worked but I never really used it
as I have an SB3 next to the TV which is better. Hope it does what you
need...

[SlimDevices: Plugins] CBC Canada track info plugin + PiCorePlayer + wrong track information

2021-02-18 Thread bobcoupee

Hi

So for the last few days I have noticed that the track information
displayed during CBC's Nightstream broadcast is incorrect between what
the CBC Canada track info plugin app displays and CBC's website.

For example at 03.21am Toronto time (08.21 UK time) the CBC website
states that the track is 'STAY WITH ME' but the plugin displays "Parking
Lot":

33425

I use the stream for CBC Music Eastern (Toronto, Canada / Pop) provided
by the RadioNet plugin (which I believe is
http://cbcmp3.ic.llnwd.net/stream/cbcmp3_cbc_r2_iet).

Is the information from the stream just incorrect? Is there a better one
I can use.

I am using LMS Version: 8.1.2 - 1613284909, via PiCorePlayer v7.0.0.

Thanks in advance.

I think that using commas would cause more problems. Either go with the
semicolon as separator or define a different separator - your example
being double backslash.

I use the semicolon to separate individual Album Artist tags, and it
works well for me.
