I've found an SD card I had with raspbian and LMS installed rather than picoreplayer which I usually use, this has a similar debian and perl version set up to you : Hostname: raspberrypi Server IP Address: 172.16.0.59 Server HTTP Port Number: 9000 Operating system: Debian - EN_GB - utf8 Platform Architecture: armv7l-linux Perl Version: 5.28.1 - arm-linux-gnueabihf-thread-multi-64int Audio::Scan: 1.05 IO::Socket::SSL: 2.060 Database Version: DBD::SQLite 1.58 (sqlite 3.22.0) It has a much more recent version of LMS on it (an 8.3 build). I've given BBC Sounds live streams a long test on it, and again I can't detect any memory leak. (there may have been some slight creep in memory footprint, but many many orders of magnitude less than the 2.5mb per minute you are experiencing!) I remember it was a bit of a pain to install LMS on it as I had to compile the LMS 'perl CPAN distribution' (https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver-vendor/tree/public/8.3/CPAN) myself. So I suspect that is the source of the problem, the CPAN that came with your 7.9.3 distribution of LMS. I think upgrading your LMS to 8.2 or 8.3 will indeed solve the problem. Also, the LMS improvements of 8.3 over 7.9.3 really are worth having. If you don't use your raspberry pi for anything other than hosting LMS, I do recommend simply installing picoreplayer on it instead, it makes installing LMS a simple few simple clicks with no messing about. I will set aside some time in the coming weeks to set up some perl memory leak debugging just in case there is something there that might not get cleaned up in certain circumstanced, just in case. But I understand one has to work quite hard to create a memory leak in perl! [SlimDevices: Plugins] Spotty and socketwrapper 1.12beta
Following my attempt to troubleshoot a situation where Spotty would end up playing the first 1/2/3 minutes of a song and then skip to the following track in a playlist (or stop if it was the last track in a playlist), I ended up testing a new version of socketwrapper that apparently is targeted at fixing this kind of problems. (some history here: Test version is found here: https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver-tools/pull/3?#issuecomment-1059465862 I use, to test, the Amarok album by Mike Oldfield. Single track, 1h00m03s long. Here is the log: https://pastebin.com/YaU33ZQx (I deleted a whole bunch of repeating Slim::Player::Source::_wakeupOnReadable (414) bc:5f:f4:bf:3e:71 lines to not exceed pastebin's limits). Real life results are the track starts playing and it stops after about 5 minutes. If I use this commandline, I get the whole FLAC, one hour and three seconds long: Code: "C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Cache\InstalledPlugins\Plugins\Spotty\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread\spotty.exe" --enable-volume-normalisation -n Squeezebox -c "C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Cache\spotty\ba008d57" --single-track "spotify://track:7zq1yjQyLZbJGdltQk1dka" --bitrate 320 --disable-discovery --disable-audio-cache | C:\PROGRA~2\SQUEEZ~1\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread\flac.exe --channels=2 --sample-rate=44100 --bps=16 --endian=little --sign=signed --ignore-chunk-sizes - -o test.flac Available for further testing whatever might be needed. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] SuperDateTime Screensaver v5.11.0 - Date/Time/Weather/Sports/Stocks
I've been seen some really odd behavior over the past 24 hours. First there are some issues with LMS not scanning the media folders (see https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?116076-Not-Scanning-Media&p=1049776#post1049776. This is still not resolved.) I'm using SDT v5-11-21 on a Win10 PC. During the overnight, it stopped displaying on my Radio, but is showing on my Touch. I restated LMS. I restarted the Radio. Nothing. SDT does not appear in Extras. C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\prefs\plugin contains superdatetime.prefs and customclockhelper.prefs (among others.) C:\Program Files (x86)\Squeezebox\server\Plugins is empty. Is this where SDT and Custom Clock should be? There could be many reasons for stopping after 5 mins - this thread is only dealing with checking whether socketwrapper's watchdog or other behaviour is killing the stream. To know what is happening - you must get socketwrapper to generate log output and then also see the end of the output. To get socketwrapper log which could detail why playing stops after 5 mins 1. Stop LMS running 2. Open a command prompt windows, made it wide and long (use its own menu) and then run LMS from the command prompt 3. Enable player.source logging to DEBUG, this sets the "-D" option for socketwrapper but as socketwrapper is run in its own process, this is the only way to see its log output. 4. Play the problem stream. 5. The bad news is that LMS log will be mixed with socketwrapper log in the command prompt window and the windows is finite in length - so after stream ends you need to CTRL/C and stop LMS so that the command prompt output can be saved - use command prompt menu to "select All and then "Copy" and then paste the saved log into text file, to zip and attach to a post. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116078 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Unfortunately you lose me at #2. I don't have a clue about running LMS from the command prompt. There are 176400 bytes/sec for a standard CD stream 176168024*2/176400 = 478sec = 8 mins. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116078 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

If you > need extra info in this regard, I'd be happy to provide anything I can. CD quality is 44100 samples/sec. Each channel has 1 sample - 2 channels means 2 samples Sample size is 16bits = 2 bytes - so data rate is 44100*2*2 = 176400 bytes/sec I'm mixed up this time. The data stream to player is flac - so estimate time would be 16mins. > In this case it's Squeezelite-X, so a squeezelite instance, set with "-b > 16384:16384". > > Edit: I have a SB2, several Booms and a DAC32 if you would like me to > test on other clients. This means player has 16Mbytes input and 16Mbytes of output. So input buffer has become full and some of output as well, and then no data would be required for a very long time. socketwrapper has a safety watchdog which kills a stream which hasn't "moved" (i.e. no data processed by transcode chain to player) for a long time. When player had small buffer sizes (e.g. SB2), there used to be problem with some internet stream blocking which would create zombie process under Windows. Can you try playing the stream on an SB2 to see if problem shows with the smaller buffer players. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116078 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Spotty and socketwrapper 1.12beta
Bad news re socketwrapper log. Something has changed since I last debugged socketwrapper ( a few years ago) not sure if it is a Win10 or an LMS change but the socketwrapper output is now a separate window and one which disappears when socketwrapper ends so no chance of finding out why it stopped. Just opened Visual studio on the system and the last project was socketwrapper 1.12beta - Nov 2019 !! when I was checking the suggested patch. I'll see if I can build a veriosn which saves socketwrapper log as a file. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116078 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Don't know if this could be relevant. But the interruption does not appear to be constant, per player. I replayed the same track on Squeezelite-X and I got: Code: [22-03-07 17:59:31.6458] Slim::Player::Source::_readNextChunk (378) end of file or error on socket, song pos: 203881560 Before it happened at 176168024 Tried again on SB2 and I got: Code: 22-03-07 18:09:06.4100] Slim::Player::Source::_readNextChunk (378) end of file or error on socket, song pos: 26566784 Before it happened at 15073408. So... same order of magnitude, respectively, for the two cases... but different numbers nonetheless. gorman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=56 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116078 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I wanted to wait till the entire track had played back but now, at 32m18s, I think it's time to accept that something changed. What? You mention using an older beta, while the socketwrapper beta I downloaded from Ralph Irving on github had been compiled three days ago with some cleaning up. Maybe something went wrong during the process? I will actually try to put back that version and see if now everything plays back just fine with that one too (in which case, we'll probably remain with a mystery on our hands but... I would not complain). The other thing I am going to try is using it for other clients (DAC32, Squeezelite, Boom). I will report back once the testing is complete but, maybe, in the meantime you could have a look and see if there's a difference between your source and that used by Ralph Irving to compile his beta? PS I had no window opening during playback but socketwrapperdebug.log is being created in the location you mentioned. Just thought it was worth pointing this out. gorman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=56 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116078 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Bugs with network streams can be very fickle especially if they are prone to timing issues. Three possibilities come to mind. 1. The logging of info has changed the dynamic of the processing. 2. the version of socketwrapper is not quite the same as the build you did earlier testing. 3. Network conditions have changed or something in CDN has changed. If you revert back to previous version and bug reappears then 3 is eliminated I'll check code to verify option 2 and maybe make a "lighter" version to see if 1 is an issue. I'll also look at log in case something is there. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116078 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Mostly it works fine but sometimes it gets stuck at one screen, usually text clock. Okay, I've now finished listening to the whole track through DAC32, which uses a more complex conversion rules (you'll see it in the log). All flawless. 37410 Now I am playing back the same track using the beta by Ralph Irving nd... it plays back without stopping. This, again, on the DAC32 with the complex conversion rule you can see in the attachment above. To say I am baffled would be an understatement. I am sure about the socketwrapper.exe versions, as I had been careful about renaming them with descriptive extensions. I will leave this play for a while and come back to see if it's stopped but it's at 16m50s now and I doubt it will stop, it always happened far sooner... Back and it's still going at 38m18s... I'll now try to use the original socketwrapper.exe, just for a laugh. And it's now at 54m55s and happily chugging along. I honestly don't know what to say. What could explain this? I am sorry, I feel bad for wasting your time, bpa. d6jg wrote: > It will be the player part of iPeng that has the issue I find this very confusing. I've been trying to diagnose it for a while to find out what the actual problem is. Thing is... for me it's not actually iPeng but the server causing issues: Code: -: ERROR while decoding metadata state = FLAC__STREAM_DECODER_END_OF_STREAM /Users/joergbeta/Install/Squeezebox/slimserver/Bin/darwin-x86_64/sox FAIL formats: can't open input `-': WAVE: RIFF header not found That's from the server logs. Also... all of the streams actually play for me for a while until I run into these issues which apparently derail things completely. Whenever I was seeing issues they were happening when playing OGG/FLAC and transcoding to a regular FLAC container. I _suspect_ what's happening here is that iPeng forces the server to transcode. The reason is that iPeng doesn't support OGG right now due to another odd issue that prevents Spotify OGG streams to play (and that I have actually no idea what causes it. The stock ogg/vorbis decoder iPeng uses throws errors and I have no idea why these streams work on other setups). So when playing in iPeng the server needs to transcode the OGG/FLAC streams because iPeng requests FLAC and then the server seems to eventually run into issues with the streams and bails out on them. From that point on I see the player no longer responding. @mherger have you looked into the server logs when you tried this? --- learn more about iPeng, the iPhone and iPad remote for the Squeezebox and Logitech UE Smart Radio as well as iPeng Party, the free Party-App, at penguinlovesmusic.com *New: iPeng 9, the Universal App for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch* pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Hello, New iPeng user since yesterday. Need some help in setting the software up 1) I have two player connected one is based on piCorePlayer and another is HQPlayer embedded via UPnPBridge. How do I prevent iPeng from jumping between the two when I am on the main screen. 2) Under genre option if i only have a single song it automatically scrolls through all the screen and takes me to the single song. Is there a way for me to stop iPeng from doing that? 3) I use Qobuz for streaming and do not have any local music. I think this is by design under LM but I see Qobuz favorites for artist, albums listed under artists. 4) Don't stop the music it only cycles through Qobuz favorite songs? 5) Is there a way for me to iPeng take me directly to MyApps --> Qobuz? Since, that is my only music source? Not a big deal if that is not possible. Is there a manual for that I can read through, so in the future I can ask more relevant questions instead of the stuff that might be in the manual :o shadowlight's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66327 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I had one but very, very few people ever read it and one problem is that everybody's setup is differently and so much functionality is actually not determined by iPeng but by the server. So in many cases there simply would be nothing we could write into the manual about a lot of topics. The Radio is connected to the network since I can receive internet radio streams and my local media. Going to Extras on the Radio shows Custom Clock, Information Browser, and Weather. On the Touch it shows those three plus SDT. The information tab in the control panel shows both devices. However, on the Touch when I expand SDT it never connects. Yet the Touch also shows my local media and internet radio streams. And it's showing the correct SDT screensavers (Off, and Now Playing.) When I go to mysqueezebox.com the Radio is there. Looking at the directory where SDT should be installed, I'm seeing nothing. That's right - it's empty. I opened up the web control panel and SDT was not listed in the active plugins. When I selected it from the repository and clicked save, it would not install. Fortunately I have the zip downloaded and copied the contents to the plugin directory and restarted the server, and then the Radio and I'm back in business on both devices. This is not the first time you've helped me out of a jam, and I'm sure it won't be the last. Is "LastMix" = "SongMix"? If not can you point me to location. I do not see the LastMix option? LastMix is another plugin of mine which uses Last.fm to create mixes. You won't need to do anything about Last.fm. The playback would use your subscribed online service(s), eg. Qobuz, and local files. It will create mixes based on what you had in your play queue.
