Having a developer account on Amazon with "Max2Play" and an Echo available to play with :) Already tried to control the Squeezeboxes with Homeassistant and Philips HUE, but as the Squeezeboxes are only discovered as lights, the ON/OFF commands do not seem to work every time. I would like to add infos about your project to Max2Play, once it is available for all Alexa users. For the new Jessie based Image of Max2Play, I did not add the user root for a direct SSH connection. You always have to SSH in with user "pi" and PW "raspberry" like in the original Raspbian as @Man in a Van said. If you want to get superuser rights you can either enter any command with the prefix "sudo" or change to root with "su" and PW "max2play" once logged in. Hi, we had an issue with the licence validation this weekend due to a change to SSL-secured shop and website - sorry about this. You can fix this if your license is not shown as activated by removing your mail address -> click save -> enter your mail address again -> click save. HiFi-Berry Digi (also with DAC+ Pro) and Raspberry Pi 3: there are problems with the build-in bluetooth that lead to errors. Hi! A lot of work to do to get the Jessie based version running smoothly... thank's a lot for all your feedback! I added a patch to the Beta-Update today to fix the mounting of NTFS-Drives in Jessie. Usbmount is causing the error... just update to latest beta and reboot (important). Next will be the test of the HifiBerry Digi+ to see if I can reproduce the problem with the sound. Already tested different other HiFiberry and IQAudIO cards and did not encounter any problems yet. If anyone has bluetooth speakers and wants those to work with Max2Play - Good news, I have a new addon that helps connecting, keeps the connection on reboot and creates the audioutput for your audioplayers. Did I get you right, that even after a restart (removing power completely) your USB mount is not available anymore and after reflashing the SD-Card it is available again? when using Max2Play you just have to install Shairtunes2 by clicking on
"install" on the Squeezebox Server tab of the Max2Play web interface (no
console or SSH needed). Second thing is, to make sure that Shairport on
the Audioplayer tab is not running (deactivate autostart) because
Shairtunes will create its own Shairport player.
An other option is to use the Shairport player on the audioplayer tab of
the web interface and NOT installing Shairtunes2. There is an option in
the advanced settings of Shairport where you may point it to the IP of
your Squeezebox Server ("Shairport/Squeezelite automatic Audio-Switch").
This will stop the Squeezelite player while playing via Airplay and
afterwards enable Squeezelite again when stopping Airplay.

@ad6922: there are some routers that do not translate names into IPs - what model do you have? Do you have other network devices that can be reached with network names? You may try to set "keep sound device alive" in "Kodi settings -> System -> Audio output" and see if this fixes the audio problem. @Teetertank: I do not have an U3 anymore, but I don't think there is much of a difference between U3 and U3+. Hi ad6922, you can easily go with a Raspberry Pi 2. This is powerful enough for hosting a Squeezebox Server and a player on the same device and runs very smooth. We have some prebuild images for the Raspberry that are tested and you find good DACs like HiFiBerry that offer good sound quality. The Odroid U3 that we used in the beginning is not produced anymore and the XU4 has a fan mounted on the CPU that is not really silent. The ODROID C1+ is little more powerful but has less supported hardware and less people are using it. If you are aiming for an easy setup and solid functionality and support - get the Raspberry with a good DAC. @Man in a Van: thanks for posting! @ad6922: I thought you are going for a player and server in one device. If you are just looking for a Squeezebox Server, the ODROID XU4 might be worth looking at. But as I mentioned this has a fan, that makes some noise... So you have to hide it somewhere. The EMMC-Cards a lot faster than SD-Cards, but this isn't that important when you are streaming your music from a NAS. When this thread started, there was no Raspberry Pi 2 - so comparing the ODROID U3 and the Old Raspberry Pi, the ODROID gave a lot more performance. Now that we have the RPi 2 things changed a bit. @Rheinländer: when installing Shairunes2 on Max2Play, it always gets the latest version from Github (https://raw.github.com/disaster123/shairport2_plugin/master/ShairTunes2.zip). As this zip-file contains the latest patched version for iOS 9 it should work, if you just reinstall the Plugin with the Max2Play Web interface (on Squeezebox Server tab). I just tested Shairtunes2 on Max2Play with LMS 7.9 nightly and iOS 9 on a Raspberry PI 2 - this is what happened: - Airplay device is selectable - playing something through iOS 9 results in LMS showing Shairtunes is active but doesnt't play - Shairport (also available on Max2Play) as standalone player is working with iOS 9 (but this is not a good option when using a DAC that is limited to one player) As Shairport (compiled from https://github.com/mikebrady/shairport-sync.git) is working but the Shairtunes LMS-Plugin has some problems (probably with the shairport helper file?), there might be a way to figure out the differences between this two versions. @disaster12: Any ideas how to fix this? @Squeezemenicely: Please make sure to use the Shairtunes2 Plugin. I just tested it with LMS 7.8 (fresh install) and had no problems. When you do the installation of Shairtunes2 in the Max2Play Web interface, please have a look at the message that can be opened after the installation of Shairtunes2 is finished. @slartibartfast: the apt-update and upgrade parts are "hidden" in the "odroid advanced options" addon. I did not add them to the normal functions yet, because they may break some other stuff due to library changes. @Man in a van: The C1 image also works for the C1+, but if you want to use the new functions and addon shields (display/hifi-shield) of the C1+ you have to do a kernel update with the odroid-utility script. I will release a special version for the C1+ with the corresponding addon to change display resolution, activate hifi-shield and more as soon as I have some time for it. @bobertuk: I did not test the SPDIF output of the USB-card hardkernel offers but it should work exactly the same way as other USB-soundcards (like logilink/creative with SPDIF output). Background info for Passthrough in Kodi: To enable the Kodi/XBMC passthrough (sending 5.1 Dolby sourround signal / DTS directly to your AVR) you have to adopt some settings on the desktop and in Kodi/XBMC settings. The problem with the hardkernel devices is, that they do not offer passthrough with HDMI and therefore you need the external soundcard to get 5.1 sound working (instead of normal stereo). What you probably want to do, is just sending your music (from stereo source) to the external soundcards SPDIF output. This is no problem: just change the soundcard setting of the Squeezelite-Player (advanced options on the audioplayer tab of the Max2Play-Webinterface) to your desired output. Hi, just for information: I am currently testing different displays to get a squeezebox touch functionality working with Max2Play. The goal is to have the touch functionality with the display and all the Max2Play addons together with the easiest installation and configuration (just 2 clicks in the webinterface). What I got so far: The first one is a RPi-Display B+ - 2.8 Touch-Display for Raspberry Pi B+ and 2 (ADS7846 Touchscreen). I built a Max2Play Addon to install the display drivers based on the latest Raspbian Kernel 4.x for Raspberry PI 2. Together with Jivelite this really works great. There is just one downside: if using the Headphone Jack instead of HDMI output for sound, you can not really expect to have the best audio quality. @mkkyah: OK - solved it thanks to your help! Problem with Kodi start was related to the equalizer configuration that gets activated when you check the use USB-Soundcard option. All you have to do is: update to latest beta, uncheck the checkbox of USB-Soundcard, save, check it again and save. Thanks a lot for your intense Beta-testing! Having a lot of features has the downside of sometimes not being able to test everything... @slackhead: Thanks for your reports! I'll have a look at the network settings to get fixed WiFi-IP and Nameserver settings also working. I tried to keep it as simple as possible but just tested with my router and LAN connection. The nfs-common package is indeed missing in the Odroid release... I'll add this to the next update. @pinkdot: squeezelite should come up within a minute after shutting down kodi/xbmc. There is a cronjob that checks for running squeezelite/shairport/kodi and if autostart is enabled. Make sure you really close kodi and that there is no running kodi process left. @slackhead: the setting of a fixed static IP needs the device to have a current IP from your router. If you do not have a router connected, this feature will not work, as other settings like gateway and netmask will also be set with the current values. This feature is meant for routers that sometimes switch IPs for running devices and do not offer static IPs. It is not meant as a plain network configuration. Btw: Any support for Max2Play is highly appreciated! With the premium license you get some more addons, support and some features that are not included in the free Max2Play version (see our website for more info). @mkkyah: your logfile looks ok - at least it contains no errors. Please press the update button on the settings page again - it should tell you the reason why Kodi doesn't start, if you have the latest beta (the version number at header of the webinterface stays the same, as this is just indicating the day of the beta release). I tested this with the Image for the U3, that can be downloaded on the Max2Play website. Fresh install - update2beta - Kodi installation from the link -- start Kodi. Otherwise there will be an error message each time you add a new share - even if the new one works (as you have noticed). @extremeaudio: you may run an update on the settings page to get the latest version of Max2Play. Make sure to set the soundcard settings on audioplayer tab to Default - BCM2835 and choose HDMI as default audio output. @Touister: to get USB-Audio DACs working, you may choose USB Soundcards (Northstar Essensio, Hiface and others) as soundcard in the Raspberry PI Settings Addon. With this setting the drivers will be loaded on startup. Hi, I am currently working on a new release that supports more USB-Soundcards with the module patch I provided for Man in a van. Any testers are welcome! The setting will be selectable in the Raspberry Pi Settings plugin and is currently in BETA (just update to latest Beta of Max2Play). Hi Ronnie, as I could not test the instructions on a real soundcard myself, there might be some things to test, e.g. if the compiled drivers really work. Therefore you should do everything on the console (login as root via SSH) to see the output of the commands. And after inserting the module you should run lsmod to see if the module is loaded. Only if this works, you should go for the rc.local approach to save it permanently (you need to add the complete path to the .ko file - otherwise it won't work). BTW there are 2 folders in the download link, for the different PI versions. PI B+ needs a different module than PI 2 (due to different Kernel). Hi Ronnie, the Addon you are looking for is the Advanced Setup Odroid U3. With this you can change the blinking Power-LED and change the action for the power-button. You may try to build and load the driver for the NorthStar DAC with the kernel-sources like your link suggests (https://github.com/panicking/snd-usb-asyncaudio/wiki). But you will need to get the Kernel-Sources for the Raspberry PI from somewhere. There are different ways to get the kernel headers, but apt-get install kernel-headers-$(uname -r) won't work... 1) This is for the raspberry pi? and I can just SSH in with Putty and carry out the commands (I run Windows mostly, though I do have a Linux Mint Live CD). When I try the Dac on my Odroid, if there is no driver, can I use the same commands? This was compiled on a Raspberry PI 2 - but should also work on a Raspberry PI B. It think it will not work on a ODROID because it has an other Kernel version. For the ODROID you have to do the same procedure (get Kernel headers + compile sources from the panicking github repository). @stereoptic: You can switch back to the latest version after loading the beta at anytime. You can also just load the Beta Version of the Raspberry Settings Plugin, that I linked in my post or you wait for the next release (1-2 days). @Gomez and ianrt: SD-Card-Protection is for use as a plain audioplayer. Squeezeserver, Jivelite and other Addons won't work, as most of them need write access to the SD-Card. I will try to improve SD-Card-Protection-support for some addons in future. @despearce: if nothing shows up, you may refresh your browser cache by pressing STRG+F5 as there are some Javascript changes, that are needed for the button. Looking at your shared folders you have to take this for the path: Code: //goflex_home/GoFlex Home Public The difficulty comes from the spaces (never used spaces for a share-name) - and until now (I am sorry to tell you), you had no chance to mount shares with spaces. I corrected this issue and shares with spaces now get correctly translated in the current Beta of Max2Play. Hi despearce, when you first set up your Network attached drive you usually define a share with a name. You also set up username and password to access that shared folders. You have to use exactly the name of the share you choose when creating it. When you access the shared folders from any other computer you should also see the name of the share (e.g in windows explorer). I added a feature called find network devices in the current beta of Max2Play (big button below share setup). OK, cracked it. You set up a share but what I had done was leave the password blank. I assumed it didn't need it because I could see the file data before I loaded up LMS. I entered root and the max2play password in the boxes hit save and the share worked. Good to see you got it working! Just added hardware support for the PiFi DAC+ in the current Beta of the Raspberry Settings Plugin for Max2Play. Tested with a Raspberry PI 2 and the sound is OK. New version 2.14 has: - Shairtunes2 as improved plugin for enabling Squeezeplayers for Airplay - better Plugin installer (installation automatically enables Plugin) - a lot of small changes and fixes... @stereoptic: The problem with playing 192Khz over HDMI comes from kernel restrictions that force downsampling to 48Khz. Didn't recognize this yet, because the DACs do not have this problem and I did not connect the Raspberry via HDMI. I just rebuilt the kernel (Cirrus Logic Sources) with a patch (file sound/arm/bcm2835-pcm.c) and now it is working with 192Khz-files. I will add this Kernel-Change-Feature to the Rasbperry PI Settings plugin. This makes it easy to enable sample rates up 192Khz and also 32Bit encoding via Max2Play webinterface for HDMI-connected players. The new function will be available in 2-3 days. Thanks for your help on this investigation! @palmerx: This is really difficult - you may have a look at the Log files of your squeezeboxserver. On the webinterface of Max2Play on the bottom of the Squeezebox Server tab click on Debug. @stereoptic: do you output the sound direct to the hardware device (without software conversions)? All output settings can be changed on the Audioplayer-Page in advanced settings (Squeezelite). Can you post a screenshot of your settings? You might want to remove all Alsa-Settings an give it a try (default). @strim: if you just want to use airplay you can use the shaiport sync player, that is on the audioplayer tab of the Max2Play webinterface. @palmerx: do you connect the Raspberry by LAN or by WiFi? It seems, that your device sometimes has no internetconnection on startup. Hi flysurfer Not sure if this is out of the remit of the server software in max2play but i was wondering if you'd thought about adding other apps into the package? I'd love to have an easy to install version of couchpotato and sickbeard...What's the chances? :-) I am frequently adding new features as you may see on the addons page of the Max2Play-Website. Last addon was the 1-click VNC-Server-Installer, that is really usefull for headless devices. But as my time is limited, I would be happy to see other people making use of the Max2Play-Framework to implement new features like the ones you think about. Chances are quite good (even for beginners in programming) to get How-TOs transformed into Max2Play-Addons. @SlimChances: I did not create an image for the XU3-Lite yet - mainly because I do not have one for testing. You may try to run the install script that is hosted on the Max2Play github page. It tries to setup everything to get the webinterface and the audioplayer working (tested on U3 and C1). @skare: you get kodi 14 when you download and burn the latest prebuild Max2Play SD-card-Image from our website. Samba should be an easy to solve problem ;) Did you set up the samba-share directory right above the password field in the webinterface? @mkkyah: as the 7.9 nightly resources were not available for some time on the download page of slimdevices, there might be some other problems. Did you install version 7.9 and used the prefs folder from 7.8? I think that could cause difficulties. I am sorry that I can't help you with the problem that some HD-videos in youtube streams cause problems after skipping some time in Kodi on the ODROID U3. I use the Kodi version that hardkernel offers in it's current Ubuntu Image without changes. There might be a bug in the youtube-addon, the compiled kodi version or somewhere else. If you have further questions on this, I suggest you ask the hardkernel forum. @Dirk: Your samba-share is working, but LMS cannot access the /media/usb0 folder. when I try to navigate to it in lms to add the music library there is no usb0 - At least the folder under /media/usb0 should always be visible (even if there is no content). I just tested this on a fresh install of Max2Play on the Odroid C1. Can you paste a screenshot of your directory tree in your LMS settings? @Giza2020: You just need to enter the path on the filesystem, that you want to give access to. To share everything from the root directory just enter / like the following screen shows: 18040 @badsoden: depending on your soundcard and hardware (U3/C1/Raspberry) and other active players (shairport, gmediarenderer, etc.) it's difficult to guess what's wrong. Try stopping other players like shairport (also remove them from autostart) and do not start Kodi/Xbmc (also no autostart) as these players may block squeezelite from using the audiocard (depending on your hardware). @badsoden: If you have an IQaudio DAC board you should choose IQaudio Card DAC on the Raspberry PI settings and not IQaudio Card DAC+ as it makes a difference. If you update to the latest Max2Play-BETA on Settings/Reboot-Tab you can now activate the wolfson audio-card in the Raspberry PI Settings Addon. After activating and rebooting the device you can choose the audiocard on the audioplayer-tab in advanced settings of Squeezelite. This will be released into to Live-Version next week (doing some more testing). @Bruinboy: that ping works... well, maybe your password to access your Mac has some special chars that cause problems. @bruinboy: please try to use a password without any special chars and try to connect with the same credentials from an other computer in your network (if you use windows, mount the network path and substitute the / with a \). Maybe you get more information what might be wrong by doing this. If you copy/pasted the debug info there is a space/delimiter missing after the path and the name MacMini should only be there if this is the name of the share. @bruinboy: the message unable to resolve host suggests that your raspberry has problems to find the IP address of you Mac in your network. Do you have different subnets or maybe one device connected by Wifi and a router with a setting that disables connections between Wifi and lan? If you could login via SSH to your Raspberry and test by doing a ping to your Mac ping 10.0.1.198 - would be interesting to see what happens. You could also try to Ping the Raspberry from your Mac-Computer. Hi, I released two new addons for password protection of the webinterface and a SD-card write protection (when using Max2Play as pure audioplayer). You can find them on the addons page: http://www.max2play.com/en/addons/ To improve the password protection addon there will be the possibility to change the user passwords of root (and pi on Raspberry, odroid on ODROID) and do other security stuff in the next release. The support of the wolfson cirrus logic audiocards is just about to be released with an update of the Raspberry PI Settings addon. Just doing some last tests. If you have ideas and wishes on more addons, these are more than welcome! I will start a new survey with your ideas next week and the ones winning will find its way into the next release! @Dirk: Thanks for your report! It has been some time since I created the image for the C1 and there might still be some bugs in that image. As I focussed mainly on Raspberry PI 2 and ODROID U3 I did not test everything on the C1. @bruinboy: please have a look at the videos on our website - they show how to mount network paths @Squeezemenicely: The default volume of the hifiberry DAC is a little too low. I fixed this in an update, that sets the optimal PCM volume when changing the soundcard on audioplayer tab and you can now adjust this PCM-value manually on Raspberry Settings tab in webinterface (right now only for hifiberry cards). @gv200: you may try to start with just 2 instances and test different soundcard settings and ALSA-Parameters (e.g. 80:::) for your USB-DACs (maybe it is a problem to play on 3 USB devices simultanous). If the players can be started on the webinterface, they should also start with the autostart option on boot. More Questions: - What PI/Odroid hardware do you have? If it is a PI, did you set it to turbo mode in Raspberry PI settings (more performance)? - Did you disable squeezelite in audioplayer tab and did you try this on a new image (without other modifications)? - Did you try to use just 1 DAC and the headphone jack? NEW ADDON MULTISQUEEZE NOW AVAILABLE AS PLUGIN: HTTP://WWW.MAX2PLAY.COM/EN/ADDONS/ Performance: tested on Raspberry B+ with 2 instances of squeezelite playing synchronized and a running squeezebox server on the same device: running OK at average load of 1.5 (set turbo mode in raspberry settings plugin). Adding a third squeezelite instance (also synchronized) resulted in some stuttering when changing songs or music source. Performance should be even better with Rasbperry PI 2 or ODROID U3. The current maximum of simultanous running squeezelite instances is 6. Although I did not test this, I think that playing music on 6 instances at the same time might cause some performance issues. Would be happy to hear some test results! @Dirk: Kodi and Squeezelite will only work at the same time if you choose use USB-DAC in advanced squeezelite settings on the audioplayer tab (make sure you use different audio outputs for Squeezelite and Kodi). @bruinboy: Try to follow the examples, that are shown below the input fields. For /mnt/share: /Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music This is the path on the Device. Please just use /mnt/share to mount the network-folder to this folder on Max2Play. For the network path use //10.0.1.xxx/MacMini/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music, if this is the complete path to your Music. You will also have to set the other parameters for user and password. If you have still problems, please post the error message that is shown after adding the mountpoint. @VictorLaszlo: Make sure you have set a password for your samba account (bottom of the page filesystem mount) in the Max2Play-Webinterface. After this the user is root and yourpassword to connect to the samba-share. @WAD62: Sorry - but I won't be able to help you, if there are driver issues. But if you discover how to solve the problem, I could add a driver-Update field on the WiFi-tab for other users. @tonyfox: did you change the soundcard in Audioplayer - advanced settings to default? Timezone settings: some settings like GB-Eire that point to an other timezone (in that case Europe/London) are set but not displayed correctly in the webinterface. I corrected this and it will be released within this week in an update. HiFi Berry DAC plus and Other versions of HiFi-Berry: There are different card settings (currently missing in Plugin) that will be available after an update this week. Just testing, that everything works as expected. AAC transcoding issue: If you choose the software-equalizer as sound-output it gets transformed to 44KHZ. You should use the default audio output instead (Audioplayer - Squeezelite - Advanced Settings). @tparvais: I have a video that shows some basic things about developing with Max2Play: http://www.max2play.com/entwicklerecke/ (english: http://www.max2play.com/en/developers-corner/). I will constantly improve these pages to show more details on developing plugins. If you have never worked with PHP and translation files it may be a little difficult to understand everything. @Giza2020: Well - I am not sure what exactly the alsaequal software equalizer is doing with different streams (espacially AAC in 48KHz as tonyfox reported). @palmerx: Could you try Squeezeboxserver Version 7.9 Nightly? The missing radiostations indicate, that your internet connection is not ready when squeezeboxserver starts. This may be a very slow DHCP-Server or something else. You may try to connect an HDMI-cable to your Raspberry to see the startup messages and if it connects to the network before starting other services. You said restart the Squeebox server a couple of times. If you have to start multiple times while having a internet connection, this is really strange. Hi gv200, althrough providing multiple instances of squeezelite through the webinterface by a separate plugin would be possible, I do not have the time to build this currently. Maybe in a later version or if more people ask for this kind of feature. Hi Verulamius, the NOOBS image that we offer already contains everything you need. Just format your SD-card fat32 and copy the content of our image file (NOOBS-Image) to it. The Rasbperry PI image is based on latest Raspbian 3.18.7-v7+. Hi ctweedle, please always use the LMS version 7.9 nightly as this is the one that I always test with new images and this one works. The C1 version for Max2Play is more an alpha version compared to the U3. The U3 Max2Play should work without problems and detect most USB-drives. HD-idle is used to bring devices to sleep while they are not used. You might disable this service (by console) to test, if your problem is related to this. If you get random disconnects (even during usage) and some of the usb-ports do not work at all, it might be a problem with a defect U3. The automount programm is usbmount. @gv200: you should try to make a copy of the existing
/etc/init.d/squeezelite file and just change the audio-output for
squeezelite. In your init-script there might be some parameters set,
that are not correct (audio-output / LMS-IP). If you want to test the
init-script and see the output (if it's not working and you wonder why)
you may add an echo before the command that starts squeezelite and
remove the background option of the daemon. In your script (the one you
posted) that could be:
echo start-stop-daemon --start -m -p /var/run/${NAME}.pid --chuid $USER
--exec /opt/squeezelite/squeezelite -- -z -o $OUTPUT -m $MAC -n $NAME -s

Then, take the output generated by the init script and execute it in

@slartibartfast: did you just update the packages or did you do a dist-upgrade? I would not recommend upgrading to the next Ubuntu version. Just a guess: it seems to have a different perl version (5.20). @simoh: I created a kernelmodule-Plugin for the Max2Play-Webinterface. With this you can easily activate the HiFace driver (1-click-solution). You may install and activate the Plugin at the bottom of the Settings-Page. Info: The HiFace-Modul is compiled against Kernel 3.8.13.23. If you updated the Kernel with odroid_utility (latest Version is 3.8.13.29) you have to Build HiFace-Module with latest Kernel in the Plugin. This gets the latest kernel, compiles the HiFace-module against it and puts it into the right place. @gv200: yes, it is possible (but not by using the Max2Play-webinterface). Just tell each squeezelite instance to use a different audio-output, a different name and a different Mac-address and do not use the default start/stop-Script in /etc/init.d as this one uses just one file for the process-id. @doctor_big: Currently I am working on an Image for the C1 from Hardkernel and the Raspberry PI as a lot people are interested in this versions. There is of course the possibility to get Max2Play running on the XU3, but you won't have XBMC with full hardware support (still a problem, it think) and the device itsself is quite expansive for the current use cases (audio player, lms, ...) compared to the U3. As I currently do not own a XU3, it's not possible for me to create an image now. @maynard999: I played around with my DAC to get the crossfeed and
lowpassfilter working. But I rather can hear a big difference when
adjusting its values. What you can actually do to test the crossfeed
setting with your DAC:
adjust the part of the /etc/asound.conf file where the headphonesplug is
defined to make it use your DAC (hw:1,0) instead:

Hi guys, @maynard999: crossfeed is currently only working with HDMI and headphone jack. I think it should be possible for other outputs, but the feedback on this feature was not that big, that I started investing more time on it. When using USB-DACs and if you don't want anything resampled please use the direct hardware output and not a virtual output device like dmixer. I created this to make it possible for different services to access the output device at the same time. E.g. playing shairport and squeezelite without getting trouble. As I am not an expert when playing with squeezelite settings and linux sound configuration, all I can do is: if you have a good idea of improving the webinterface settings of Max2Play then please tell me more about it. Best would be some kind of: - why do you need it - what problem does it help to solve - how to implement - some basic background information about it Then we could talk about this idea and I might integrate it to a next version of Max2Play. @doctor_big: As far as I can see the bug only affects AMD64 systems and not armhf. Has anyone ever noticed that bug? Hi Teetertank, the Filesystem-Tab in the webinterface consists of 2 parts. The first is for mounting shares ON the ODROID. If you have a network storage you can mount its files to a path on the ODROID. If you want to share the data FROM the ODROID to other computers in your network, you can use the Samba-Shares (second part in Filesystem-Tab). There you set up the directory you want to share and you may access this directory from any computer in your network. If you want to access the data from outside your network it is more complicated and I do not suggest to do it. You have to edit your router settings (portforwarding) and set up a file server like FTP on the ODROID. Unless you really know what you are doing here, this is not a easy thing to do, as you have to make sure your configuration does not allow any break in attempts. Hi Jason, thanks for your feedback! We always test the WiFi-USB-sticks we sell to make sure they work with the device. It is not that easy to install the missing drivers. If you want to upgrade to a newer version of Max2Play this might become a problem. As a solution, I would suggest that you get the WiFi dongle directly from the hardkernel website rather than investing a lot of time in adepting the current Image for your WiFi dongle. Problems are: drivers for ARM-platform, power-save mode of wifi device, etc... Anyway - if you want to know more about your current (not working) wifi-dongle: use putty to ssh to the max2play device. User is root and password is max2play. Then plugin in the dongle and type dmesg. Can the hdmi xbmc server output 5.1 Dolby digital? The ODROID can not output 5.1 passthrough via HDMI. You need an external USB-DAC for this purpose like the Creative XFi, LogiLink or the card that hardkernel offers in its shop. @Nojelc: thanks for your feedback! The squeezeboxserver is running with a different user. Hi snoogly, the first mountpoint of the usb device is /media/usb0 that is symlinked from /media/usb. If you did not connect an other usb-device and did not reboot the device this should not happen. I can think of something like: the usb-device gets unpowered by the external powersupply or shuts down itsself by internal powermanagement. After some time it gets reconnected and the ODROID thinks of it as a new USB-device and mounts it to /media/usb1. @snoogly: you may try to use a simple USB-Stick to access some media files and see if the same strange issue appears again. Althrough I don't think your ODROID is broken, you will find out if the problem is caused by your USB-Drives or by the ODROID itsself. @doctor_big: Fire up LMS, scan the music, access the odroid as a Squeezebox player...? yes - just have a look at the webinterface to configure LMS and squeezelite Does the odroid play nice with USB dacs? I know Ubuntu has issues with passing a bit perfect stream, but squeezelite / picoreplayer has facilities to work with usb dacs. The headphone jack of the odroid delivers quite good music output. But if you want to use a DAC, it's possible. I tested the created XFI and Logilink for 5.1 Sourround in XBMC and some other people from this forum tested other DACs (you may have a look at the other posts). You can change the output settings in the advanced squeezelite settings in the webinterface (adjust bitrate, output device and command line options). What's the suggested donation should this thing live up to its billing? Watching videos with Firefox/Chromium is a little buggy - I will try to solve this and report back. @Paden: Update Max2Play just updates the webinterface and all scripts that belong strictly to Max2Play. To use the chromium Webbrowser and Flash (HTML5 Player is not working correctly) you have to install pepperflash. I will add this in a 1-click-installation to the next Max2Play-Update. But right now this is how you can do it: Get the library from: http://odroidxu.leeharris.me.uk/PepperFlash-12.0.0.77-armv7h.tar.gz Unpack the pepperflash folder of the tar file to /usr/lib Edit the chormium Start parameters to use the Pepperflash Library: edit /etc/chromium-browser/default and replace CHROMIUM_FLAGS= with Code: CHROMIUM_FLAGS= --ppapi-flash-path=/usr/lib/PepperFlash/libpepflashplayer.so --ppapi-flash-version=11.7.700.225 Restart Chromium and type chrome:plugins into the URL: Check [Always allowed] for Adobe Flash player. Reboot the device... then youtube and other videos will play. Although the will have a bad performance in 1080p they will play OK in 720p. Reminder: For youtube and other Video-portals (twitch, vimeo, etc.) that have a plugin in XBMC it is much better to use the XBMC-Plugin. Hi Paden, the update and upgrade uses apt-get update and apt-get upgrade to get the latest updates for all installed packages. It does not upgrade the ubuntu system (apt-get dist-upgrade). So if anyone stumbles upon this problem (Plugins in LMS do not install): please install the nightly 7.8 or 7.9. @Nojelc: glad to hear its working now and thank you very much! So far the latest Update works like expected. The next thing I am working on is an easy to configure WiFi hotspot to use and control the ODROID without existing WiFi. @Paden: thanks! You should have the latest version - I added this warning because it's difficult for me to make sure that everything works as expected on all versions of Max2Play. If you have the Ubuntu 13.10 Version (changed to Ubuntu 14 three months ago), than you should not update anything. At least I didn't test it. @Nojelc: please try the LMS version 7.9 nightly. Just install it over your existing LMS via webinterface. NEW FEATURES IN THE WEBINTERFACE OF MAX2PLAY ARE: - Freely assign the usage of the ODROID powerbutton for long and short presses: use prebuilt functions for poweroff / switch between XBMC and Squeezeplayer of even use your own scripts - install and configure MiniDLNA - Apt-get Update and Upgrade for packages All new features are accessible by enabling the Advanced Settings-Plugin in Settings / Reboot. You may choose your own scripts that should be run once the powerbutton is clicked. For example I use it to burn SD-cards without a monitor or keyboard connected. The blue led shows the status of the running script by changing its blinking-frequency. Also fixed a bug that prevented the = from being used as parameter in squeezelite settings and added more default audio output settings to squeezelite. The interface is available in english and german (and not completely translated italien) 16604 @mkkyah: I don't think that you have the fixes for 7.8 yet if you didn't download the latest image. @skare: sounds like a good idea - I will add this switch in the next version as a custom usage for the powerbutton. @Paden: you may connect the Max2Play-Device directly to your TV via HDMI and use XBMC to play video or show pictures that are available on the device or somewhere else in your network. Or you may use Samba-Shares to get access to your data on the Max2Play-Device from other network players. If these players do not support browsing network shares (like your TV probalby) it becomes difficult. I will have a look at adding DLNA-Support by just clicking a button in the webinterface.
