Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SuperDateTime - Current Date/Temperature and/or Baseball Screensaver
I finally decided to update from SBS to LMS and now it seems that SD&T is causing LMS to freeze. Here's what happened: I updated to LMS 7.7.3 and did a clear and rescan - a few problems at first but I was to correct a few things and get everything working. Once the library rescan was complete I updated several plug-ins, including SD&T and restarted LMS. Then all the trouble started. Checked the server log files and found this: [14-02-06 02:57:37.6829] Plugins::SuperDateTime::Plugin::gotWeatherTomorrow (3483) Error parsing tomorrow 2 narrative [14-02-06 02:57:58.8317] Plugins::SuperDateTime::Plugin::doneDrawing (4659) Data refresh completed with errors. So I stopped LMS and then restarted LMS in safe mode, i.e. with no plug-ins enabled. I was then able to get LMS working. I once again restarted LMS but with only the Super Date and Time (SD&T) plug-in disabled. Again LMS loaded and is working. A few notes: I use SD&T along with the Custom Clock Helper plug-in to display weather info on my SB Touch display. Any help in how to get SD&T and LMS to play nice together would be greatly appreciated. Hi Jezbo, When I run the installer for muso version (musoSetup1546.msi) under Windows 7 (after exiting from muso) it says: "Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove the exiting version of this product, use Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel." I'm not familiar with several of the devices/software you mentioned above but perhaps this rundown of how I use MUSO will help. I have MUSO installed on two computers, a large laptop located in my main listening room and a desktop computer located in my computer room. I also use the program Moose (http://www.rusticrhino.com/drlovegrove/) to control the various Squeezebox devices. Since I have a rather large music library the amount of memory required to run MUSO is also fairly large (650,000+k) and so I do not use MUSO on a regular basis on the laptop, however I do run and use MUSO regularly on my desktop computer which has plenty of available memory. Nonetheless I tend to use Moose to select and control the music and I use MUSO to view the extra scanned images, to read any information contained in the "info.txt" files and to view any additional information that shows up in MUSO's "now playing" window. The reason I use Moose rather than MUSO to select and control the music is that searching my music library database in Moose is much, much faster than searching in either MUSO or LMS (I don't actually use LMS, I am still using Squeezebox Server 7.5.5). There are times when I do use MUSO on my laptop, especially when I am listening to my Living room stereo for an extended time. I hope this helps. ralphpnj's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10827 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98196 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

That's funny since my favorite recording of The Rite of Spring has Leonard Bernstein conducting The London Symphony Orchestra and is from 1972. So that would leave several options: 1) Lower the match score. 2) See if the last.fm data can be modified. 2) Provide a way for the similar artists list to be modified by the user, since the last.fm data often is not very good or useful. ralphpnj's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10827 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=91575 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Are there multiple jazz genres you use > which you'd like to combine in a "Jazz mode" like the Classical mode > does now? I'm glad you asked because there is one thing that I've been meaning to ask you about which might improve things a bit. I'll try to explain things as best as I can. When one is listening to a given recording, say one by Duke Ellington, and one opens muso to the album "now playing" screen, along the right side there is displayed "More by this artist", which lists all the other recordings in one's music library by the artist with the same name, and below that "By Similar Artists", which lists recordings in one's music library by "similar artists". Okay two suggestions/questions/comments/whatever: For the "More by this artist" listing - I've noticed that only recordings by artists with the EXACT same name show up in this list. For example when playing a recording by the artist "Duke Ellington" one only sees recordings by artist "Duke Ellington" but not any recordings with the name "Duke Ellington" as part of the artist name, e.g. ""Duke Ellington & John Coltrane" or ""Duke Ellington Quartet". Is there a way to add all the recordings by artists with "Duke Ellington" as part of the artist's name? For the "By Similar Artists" listing - first how are the similar artists selected and second is there a way to override or add to the list of whom MUSO considers similar artists. So for example when playing Duke Ellington the similar artists list only includes "Count Basie" but not "Benny Carter", "Benny Goodman", "Ben Webster" or "Billy Strayhorn" etc. These four artists being but a small sampling of artists similar to Duke Ellington. Expanding either or both of these lists would greatly improve MUSO as far as this jazz fan is concerned. ralphpnj's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10827 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=91575 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

All computers, including the SBS machine are running Windows 7. I have no problems with dropouts on any SB device. Thanks in advance for your attention to this issue and please keep up all the good work. But I understand jezbo's dilemma. Excellent post - very well reasoned and clearly explained plus completely valid. If only detailed tagging were better implemented along basic tagging for popular music is pretty well set. Once one moves into other musical genres tagging becomes more difficult. I really would like to have musician listed on each of my many jazz files but the only way to get that info into the tags to enter it myself and that is not going to happen any time some. ralphpnj's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10827 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=91575 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MUSO - Support Thread
I've been dutifully following the developments on this thread and the MUSO Announce thread, all while happily running MUSO version 1.4.43. To say that I'm a little confused about what exactly is being proposed and what is being changed in MUSO version 1.5.X would be a vast understatement. So would it be possible to post a series of screen shots (both old, i.e. current MUSO, and new, i.e. proposed 1.5.X MUSO) along with some explanations of what and why things are being changed? As always, please keep up the great work and thanks in advance! Although I don't quite understand or exactly follow all that is being proposed and implemented I can discern enough to know that once these enhancements are in place MUSO will be one hell of a front for controlling and using a Squeezebox device. Thank you so much for working so hard to make all these improvements a reality. And please take some time off to enjoy the holidays! There are positives and negatives to having a file's time stamp changed - the positive is that LMS will now "see" the revised tag data and the negative is that LMS will now "think" that the file is new instead of just changed. By the way since I am not familiar with Picard I had a quick look at the web site. Picard looks rather complicated, powerful perhaps but complicated, so I'll just stick with Mp3tag :) ralphpnj's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10827 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=91575 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

What I always do to ensure that the changes are scanned is rename the file and then change the name back so that the time and date stamp is changed. I don't know if there is way to make Mp3tag change the time stamp whenever a tag is changed. I did a quick Google search and here is something I found that you can try: http://forums.mp3tag.de/lofiversion/index.php/t7867.html PS - I tried this and doesn't seem to work, i.e. change the time stamp, but I know that my renaming trick does work. Here's an example of Musicbrainz being brain dead. Frank Lowe, a tenor sax player who played mostly free jazz, has only five recordings listed in Musicbrainz (http://musicbrainz.org/artist/c12f22fd-7528-40c5-a429-c61820eaaeef) and yet I have 16 albums with Frank Lowe's name as artist: Billy Bang Quintet featuring Frank Lowe - Above & Beyond: An Evening In Grand Rapids Billy Bang Sextet featuring Frank Lowe - Sweet Space Dennis Gonzalez Band of Sorcerers featuring Frank Lowe - Live in Washington, D.C. Frank Lowe - Black Beings Frank Lowe - Decision In Paradise Frank Lowe - The Flam Frank Lowe - Fresh Frank Lowe - Live in Paris May 9th, 1978 (this one is a bootleg recording) Frank Lowe - Lowe-down & Blue Frank Lowe - The Other Side Frank Lowe / Billy Bang Quartet - One For Jazz Frank Lowe Quartet - Argouleme, France May 6th, 1978 (this one is a bootleg recording) Frank Lowe Quartet - Tricks Of The Trade Frank Lowe Quintet - Live From Soundscape Frank Lowe Quintet - Exotic Heartbreak Frank Lowe Quintet - Soul Folks Frank Lowe Trio - Vision Blue In fact the links on the Musicbrainz Frank Lowe page for both Discogs (http://www.discogs.com/artist/Frank+Lowe) and Allmusic (http://www.allmusic.com/artist/mn175558) each have over 15 entries each. I especially don't like any third party tags such as Musicbrainz, Musicmagic, Acoustid, etc. because I don't trust their information. I tried generating a catalog of my music library using the FILE>EXPORT>CATALOG menu in the main MUSO window. And yes, a catalog was created which was then opened in my Firefox browser. Worked great. Question 1: How does one generate a catalog for a specific genre or genres, such as the catalogs you posted above? Question 2: Can the generated catalog be shared or sent to another person? Ah the hell that is metadata. By the way there are other Squeezebox plugins that work with and use custom tags. That does not appear to be muso's main function. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MUSO - Support Thread
I've been using my licensed copies of muso for a couple of weeks now and I had not run into any performance issues until today. Today I had to replace my router and during the process the router changed my Squeezebox Server IP address from 192.168.1.107 to 192.168.1.3 When I tried to change this setting in muso (tools->options->music sources->SBS->SBS configuration->host) muso was very, very slow in responding. Once I did manage to made the change muso returned to its normal speed and now everything is working just fine. Not a major bug but annoying nonetheless. My feature request is twofold: 1) Is there any way you might be able to add support for reading/viewing any simple text files that are stored in the album folder? I often have text files containing information about the recording especially when the recording is not from a commercial CD, such as live recordings. The ability to read these info files would be greatly appreciated. 2) Is there any way you might be able to add support for viewing image and pdf files which are stored in a sub-folder of the album folder? I often have a sub-folder labeled "scans" or "art" or "artwork" containing additional image files, especially when there are many images, such as when I scan an entire booklet from a multi-disc set. Thanks again for all you time and effort with this great plugin. -- ralphpnj Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels -> Snatch -> The Transporter -> Transporter 2 ralphpnj's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10827 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=14327 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Problem with SuperDateTime and SC7
I updated from SlimServer 6.5.4 to SC7 and now SDT doesn't work quite the same as it used to. The scrolling function is now gone. Any help on the correct setup under SC7 with windoxs XP would be appreciated.
