Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty v1.9.0 - now with experimental Spotify Connect support!
Hi Michael, I have used Spotty for a long time, and it works great in the periods when there are no updates. But when an update is present Spotty seems to crash (usually the LMS is also in new version also at the same time). All of the "connect to the device" is empty and I have to upgrade LMS first, then restart the LMS a second time for upgrading Spotty. Are there any watchdogs for Ubuntu or any tips regarding such issue? I can provide a debuglog if you need, but please instruct where to find it :) Regards. My LMS is 7.8.1 on OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8 on Mac Pro 2006 Mac Dual-Core Intel Xeon 2.66GHz Given the following, is there some clear info out there about compatibility, for Mac, LMS version architecture, etc.? Spotty does indeed fail; more details on request of course! First of all: I don't know. Really. As I don't have a system as old as this, I can't verify. I know that there have been issues in the past, but these actually might be gone with the latest build (2.1.10). Did you give it a try? Second: please post in the 2.0 thread. That's where the current development happens. And third: I'd recommend you update to LMS 7.9.1. I had read some of these posts and tried to understand how to get Spotty running with my setup. First of all, thank you for your continued development! You're the only thing that's keeping my final squeezebox off of ebay. Everything is working great with the latest Spotty release, but the single absent feature that I'm missing is the ability to save presets to my spotify playlists on my Squeezebox Radio. Hi, all - I don't know if this has been discussed or if anyone else will find it helpful, but I initially added the test.xml repository and enabled the Spotty plugin from there, which kept crashing. Then when I updated the plugin, it still crashed. So to fix, I had to disable Spotty and manually delete the plugin folder here: C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Cache\InstalledPlugins\Plugins, then re-enable the current plugin, and now everything works fine. Hi Just realised that the spotty.exe process keeps crashing on Win10. A cmd window keeps popping up and LMS seems to not respond for a while. It was all working fine before, but I did upgrade LMS to the latest nightly recently - not sure if that is related (LMS 7.9.1 - 1516197805). I saw some other folks had the same issue a while back but it seeemed that maybe some fixes had been added but a brief search didn't show any recent posts. The SB players show up in Spotify OK. The plugin is v2.1.0. Server.log has lots of these: [18-01-23 22:06:20.3583] Plugins::Spotty::API::getToken (138) Failed to get Spotify access token [18-01-23 22:08:39.5110] Plugins::Spotty::API::getToken (121) Failed to get Spotify access token: 'true' expected, at character offset 0 (before "thread 'main' panick...") at C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Cache\InstalledPlugins/Plugins/Spotty/API.pm line 118. thread 'main' panicked at 'called `Option::unwrap()` on a `None` value', src\libcore\option.rs:335 note: Run with `RUST_BACKTRACE=1` for a backtrace. SqueezeBox touch LMS says "1411kbps CBR, Ogg Vorbis (Spotify) (Converted to PCM)" but when the same track plays perfectly on the iPhone player (iPeng Squeeze player, not Spotify native) LMS says "320kbps CBR, Ogg Vorbis (Spotify) (Converted to MP3)! I have my Spotty audio quality set to "Extreme". I would like to get the best quality I can via the Touch, but I think something is getting overloaded. Go to Settings/Advanced/File Formats and disable Spotty -> PCM transcoding. This should then transcode the stream to FLAC, which requires less bandwidth - at the cost of more CPU on the server. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty v1.9.0 - now with experimental Spotify Connect support!
Hi - I would appreciate any help with the following. Running LMS 7.9.1 on PCP on Raspberry Pi (2) I switched from my Son's Spotify account to my own new Premium account, switched the account in LMS Plugins - and started to listen. My SB Touch would only play a few seconds before dropping out, resuming, going back to start and generally misbehaving. BUT after some investigation I found that the same Spotify track would play perfectly on my iPeng player on my iPhone (same LMS etc). When the track plays badly on the SqueezeBox touch LMS says "1411kbps CBR, Ogg Vorbis (Spotify) (Converted to PCM)" but when the same track plays perfectly on the iPhone player (iPeng Squeeze player, not Spotify native) LMS says "320kbps CBR, Ogg Vorbis (Spotify) (Converted to MP3)! I have my Spotty audio quality set to "Extreme". I would like to get the best quality I can via the Touch, but I think something is getting overloaded. (It's wired ethernet connection via mains PowerPacket). Is anyone able to advise what settings to change to get listenable playback on my Touch? Oh, I guess this behavior is related to the "give access to all family members" question: the plugin currently does not expose Spotty in the LAN, but only through the API, which is limited to one user. And the "show only local devices" options likely does ignore the API, but uses local discovery only. I should target this for 2.1. I have LMS with Spotty installed for several months on a Synology DS414j which won't install anything higher than LMS 7.7.6. Everything was running great until 2 weeks ago and I now get periodic stops or several second delays in the music. What do I do? Go to Settings/Advanced/Logging and set plugin.spotty to INFO. Play with it as usual, then upload your server.log once you've encountered issues (do not restart LMS in between). Feedback to Spotty 1.99.5 and Spotify Connect. Spotify accounts become somehow screwed up: I'm working on that. But highest priority has the issue with the dying Connect daemons :-(. - Often Squeezeboxes are not advertised in the Spotify app using account B although the Radios have been switched from account A to account B. That actually might be the result of those Connect daemons disappearing. -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty v1.9.0 - now with experimental Spotify Connect support!
Feedback to Spotty 1.99.5 and Spotify Connect. Spotify accounts become somehow screwed up: - Often Squeezeboxes are not advertised in the Spotify app using account B although the Radios have been switched from account A to account B. - When switching a Radio from Account B to account A for some time it might be visible in Spotify App A and in Spotify App B. In such states pressing Play in App B leads to start and stop of songs from account A. Pressing Play in App A only plays for 2 seconds and then music is stopped again. To overcome reboot of LMS seems only possibility. - When a song is played from the Spotify app immediately after the app was switched to a Squeezebox Radio the song stops after 2 seconds. Skipping to the next song is required to escape this auto-stop state. It would be cool if all Squeezeboxes are advertised to all Spotify apps and pressing Play in tha app enforces a switch of the Squeezebox Radio to the according account. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty v1.9.0 - now with experimental Spotify Connect support!
An issue that I've notice we both have in our plugins Spotty and YouTube: when you do a search, if you play the 1st track and while it's playing try to play 'all tracks' nothing happens. It's not the case if you play any other track. I assume it's due to the way we create the 'all tracks' entry. We add that at the beginning of the item list returned by the search, but now we have a key {total} of N and N+1 items in the list. Maybe it's because of that or maybe it's because the 'all tracks' also starts with the track that is playing, I don't know. A minor thing I think but after a quick look I did not find a solution (yet) LMS 7.7, 7.8 and 7.9 - 5xRadio, 3xBoom, 4xDuet, 1xTouch, 1 SB2. I currently have a family Tidal account, but apart from the sound quality when streaming at home, I'm not all that happy with it. There was aSpotify promotion, 0,99/month for 3 months, that I've taken advantage off to try this as well as see hif it's more "intelligent" than Tidal in proposing me stuff tailored to my tastes. Another issue I have is with stopping or pausing tracks. Quite often, but not always (I can't detect a pattern yet), a track stops only briefly when I hit pause, but then continues to play almost immediately. This sounds like you were using an old version. I might have asked before... what plugin version? What spotty helper version (see Settings/Advanced/Spotty)? Today I came home to find spotify play the last track of the last playlist over and over. Don't know when that started, b/c the player was off when I left in the morning. I could imagine this happened when the daemon went away.
