Still Flaky. This would be a very cool feature, but I just can't get it to work Solid. And I have tried many iterations over the last 6 months or so... Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Question on Chromecast Bridge Pluggin for PiCorePlayer
I have pretty much confirmed that my problem with CC Bridge Starts with Hi-Res Material. I took the Album 'Turn up the Quiet' by Diana Krall on Qobuz (Which is 192 Khz - 24 bits) And it would display the album Cover initially, but my Master Rpi would quit playing about 30 seconds into the track. I could fast forward to the next track and it display that Track info and Play for another 30 seconds before it quit. So then I noticed a setting in CC Bridge to up the Max Sample rate (Which I did to 192000) However after changing this setting and rebooting LMS and my Player I am still able to reproduce the Problem. With syncing my Rpi to my Chromecast It is definitely Hi-Res (especially 192Khz Stuff) This is easily reproduceable on my system. Maybe there is another setting that I need to change?? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Question on Chromecast Bridge Pluggin for PiCorePlayer
I may have spoke a little too soon. I started up my Basement System, which I have also synced with a Raspberry Pi. It lost the Album Art after about 2-3 tracks Not 100% sure, but maybe the Hi-Res stuff from Qobuz is screwing things up. I was using a Playlist from Qobuz that Had some Hi-res Tracks on it, and it seemed that when it hit those about 1/3 to halfway through it would revert to the Blue Chromecast symbol. I could fast forward and skip the track and it displayed correctly again So, maybe it's a Hi-Res Issue when Syncing?? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Question on Chromecast Bridge Pluggin for PiCorePlayer
OK, my 'Mystery' appears to be corrected. Before, I was going to send along the Log Files, I thought I would Re-Boot my Rpi that is running LMS on my Network that controls about 8 Rpi. After the Re-boot, I started playing the same Rpi and Chromecast Synced together and it has worked flawlessly for 11 tracks now. Which it never Made it past about 3 or 4 before - So, it looks like it's going to work for me. So, for whatever reason LMS needed to be Re-Booted and this is probably the same reason I could not get Jivelite to work either. Then about halfway through the 3rd track, the Album art disappeared and was replaced by the Blue Colored Chromecast symbol. This disappeared in about 5 seconds and was replaced with about 3 different pictures from Google. These disappeared and was replaced again by the Blue Colored Chromecast symbol in the center of a Black Screen. This remained until the end of the track, when it displayed the album art of the next track perfectly. The Album art displayed for about 5 seconds and was replaced again by the Blue Chromecast Symbol. About every 2 minutes the Album Art would again appear for about 5 seconds and then revert to the Blue Chromecast symbol, until the end of track, it would display the next album art cover perfectly, but only for 5 seconds and then revert back to the blue Chromeccast symbol. One thing, I manually advanced that track to close to the end and then when it switched tracks, It displayed the next Album art perfectly and left it there until about 30 seconds of the end of the track, then it disappeared and reverted back to the Chromecast symbol. Once in awhile I would notice the progress bar 'stuttering' towards the end of the track, with maybe a minute left. The progress would display the time left and would increase by a few seconds than reverse.. For all players in a sync group, LMS sends a start request with an identical time of start and then optionally maintains synchronization by sending small adjustments based on elapsed time reported by each player. For real SB, the "identical time of start" works, for CC and UPnP, these bridges don't care about the time of start, so they start immediately. Knowing that it takes them ~2s to start and that LMS normally do not send a start time more than 2s in the future, this is why you get ~2s accuracy in start time. The bridges do not report elapsed time correctly that's why if you try to maintain sync, it will end up bad. I guess what I'm trying to say is that from LMS point of view, it's not a "manual startup of a similar playlist", it's just the normal "start each track in sync but don't maintain during track playback" mode. Hope this makes sense. Are you trying to accomplish something specific? LMS 7.9 on Pi 3B+ & Odroid-C2 - *SqueezeAMP!*, 5xRadio, 3xBoom, 4xDuet, 1xTouch, 1 SB3. That's correct and it was hinting at if you really want to pseudo-sync, don't use "maintain synchronization while playing". All you can get is players starting more or less together, within a 2 sec window. And asking LMS to maintain sync will confuse it real bad LMS 7.9 on Pi 3B+ & Odroid-C2 - *SqueezeAMP!*, 5xRadio, 3xBoom, 4xDuet, 1xTouch, 1 SB3. Thanks for your reply...All I am trying to do, is display the Album artwork and Track information on my TV, but actually use another player for Audio. And I would just mute the TV volume. So, this would work perfect for my use! I did try to Sync them and it would start to work, but then 'Hang up'. I just don't know how to implement this,as Syncing does not seem to work reliably. So how exactly do you implement "2 second accurate sync start"? I think it means that you can group the players but when you start playing you could find things up to 2 seconds apart. They would probably be close enough to be OK if walking from room to room where you cannot hear more than one as you move around. [SlimDevices: Plugins] Question on Chromecast Bridge Pluggin for PiCorePlayer
I read over the Chromecast Bridge Thread and understand that you cannot Sync the Chromecast with other Squeezelite Players. However the following thread by the author is a bit confusing to me; "It should provide pretty much all the features of squeezelite, except synchronization (all you can have is a 2-sec accurate sync start). ChromeCast group of players appear as another LMS player, so it gives synchronization within a CC group" I was wondering how to implement the "All you can have is a 2-Sec Accurate sync start" -- and what this actually does?
