No, discovery mode does work when not on a 'personal' station, which makes sense: Discovery = new music Personal = music you've already listened to, so there's no overlap. However it currently has the side effect of breaking the now playing information for a period of time. This is an issue with the LastFM servers, not the SlimServer plugin. [SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: More Last.FM problems
Not a new problem, but one that I thought was resolved: See http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=18404highlight=discovery+mode and http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=19256highlight=discovery+mode [split thread] Discovery mode isn't compatible with either Loved tracks or Personal radio by definition. Both LastFM and James updated the web player / plugin to take account of this, so you couldn't select it on either of those stations. LastFM also changed the streaming architecture which resolved the crash on any station change with Discovery mode enabled problem. I had Discovery mode enabled last night and changed channels with no problems at all several times, which (of course) doesn't mean it isn't working now. Using the plugin for 6.1/6.2 with slimserver version 6.2.2 latest nightly. It may be a LastFM issue (as previously). Have you tried enabling d_plugins and forcing a crash ? Would be interesting to see the log output. I will also try again when I get in this evening. -- Siduhe Siduhe's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=723 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=21151 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

Can confirm that I'm also getting this now - if I turn discovery mode on, on a channel which isn't personal or loved, and try to change to another channel which isn't personal or loved, then the SB appears to lose its connection to LastFM. However, streaming through the SB carries on fine - changes track and everything. If I leave it for a few minutes, the connection seems to come back up (see the log below). One other interesting thing, once this happens, I lose my personal radio option (even when the SB connection comes back up). I can only see user/siduhe/neighbours and /loved. Go figure. However, it seems to be intermittent (LastFM has been up and down a bit in the last few hours) rather than every time. James, not sure if this is the plugin or rather LastFM. Any thoughts ? You should have an option from the player menu under Internet Radio titled LastFM if you have BOTH the scrobbler and last.fm plugins loaded correctly. If you right arrow over on Last.FM and press play it should start playing your scrobbler feed. This assumes you've gone into the web page and populated your last.fm account information. If you right arrow TWICE from last.fm you will have some additional options such as the ability to play other radio stations. Downloaded and put in the plugins folder (on Mac OS X it's librarySlimDevicesplugins) the scrobbler.pm (along with the complete SlimScrobbleSupport folder per instructions) and the plugin.pm (LastFM plugin-correct version for 6.2.2). I then stopped and restarted the SlimServer in System Preferences and then clicked on the web access button to go to the SlimServer. It is/was my understanding that I should then see something in the server settings under plugins so that I would then be able to enter my LastFM username and passsword correct? But when I click on either plugins or internet radio (where you are able to enter live365 information for example) there isn't anything there. And the radio tune in doesn't do anything except allow you to enter an url. So tell me-what am I doing or not doing right? I'm familiar enough with the concept of adding plugins but this doeesn't seem to be taking. At a guess I'd say you don't have the LastFM plugin properly installed ... you say you have the plugin.pm file inthe plugins folder: thats not quite right, you should have a folder called LastFM in the plugins folder: this folder should contain the plugin.pm and an HTML directory. Have another look in the ZIP file you downloaded for LastFM, and extract ALL its contents into the slim/plugins directory. Then restart and try again. Siduhe Wrote: Sorry my original post probably wasn't clear - on the slimscrobbler page that I posted there is a [imho] pretty clear link directly to James' plugin. That same page (the slimscrobbler page) is linked from the LastFM site. It's the bit that says James Craig's plugin. I do however agree with you that there is scope for some specific documentation. As I indicated earlier, I'm totally hooked on running last.fm through the SB (became a last.fm paid subscriber within about an hour of having it all working) and I'm happy to do whatever in the way of user docs to help other users feel the joy. -- jmpage2 jmpage2's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=21151 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

Kyle Wrote: I've got last.fm up and running, but I'm a little confused about choosing music from the website and playing it through the SB. Also, it doesn't appear as though last.fm is seeing what I am playing unless I am playing a last.fm feed. Is it supposed to see the music from my own collection that I choose? Ah, a perfect opportunity to share the joy and explain how some of this works! OK, here's how it works. You need to put your user name and password in the slimscrobbler plugin (in the plugins section of your slimserver web interface), the slimscrobbler plugin will then automatically send information to Last.fm about what kind of music you have been playing on your squeezebox(s). At about two minutes into listening to a track it will transmit the info to last.fm website and update your user profile info with the data about the song. Then in the internet radio section under last.fm you define the stations you want to listen to with the squeezebox. You do NOT control the last.fm feed from your PC (at least not that I can figure out, all that happens if I run the pc client and SB at the same time is the SB gets confused and gets no audio output). For example, if you play the /slimscrobbler station then Last.FM will start playing music that is associated with tags for music you have been playing on your own squeezebox. If you want to build an artist station then you would populate it as such; /artist/Hooverphonic/similarartists Want a station for listening to rock? /globaltags/rock Or your own personal station that is defined from what you've listened to in the PC Client? /usr/your username Your favorite (loved) tracks that you have marked while listening (if you are a subscriber)? /usr/your username/loved Once you have music playing then if you arrow down in the Last.FM menu from the Squeezebox you will see the options to love/skip/ban songs or to change the station to any of the above. There is always an option to change the station to a new artist station based on the artist you are currently listening to. Hope this helps, and I hope someone captures some of this into whatever readme/FAQ/manual gets created for the plugin! :) -- jmpage2 jmpage2's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=21151 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

I put slimscrobbler in CPAN. It does not show up under plugins, although last.fm works in internet radio. -- Kyle Kyle's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2541 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=21151 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

Did you restart slimserver after putting scrobbler in? Just to be clear the Scrobbler.pm should be directly under plugins AND the slimscrobblesupport folder and all associated files should be there too. Yes, don't use the 'official' LastFM player at the same time as the plugin. That would get messy! The LastFM plugin has a page in the SlimServer web interface, under Internet Radio (or in the drop-down menu found in some skins). This is probably a much better place to start playing with the plugin, it's much clearer what is going on and what options you have.
