I'm listening to Deep Tracks as I write this. 7.3 does offer an
upgraded MusicIP plugin that I wish 7.2 had, but other than that, it's
not worth not having XMRadio on the Squeezebox.

Have we discovered what disabled the plugin on 7.3? Was it the
firmware?

I am still running SqueezeCenter 7.2.1, and the XM Radio plugin was
working until very recently. I could browse genres, etc.

But for a few days, Browse Genres brings up an empty list, and even

Is anyone else experiencing this? Any new workarounds?

I came on board during 7.2 and at one point had XM working very well,
but never have I been able to select XM in the menus on my controller.
If I started XM on SC, I could then operate it from the SBC.

One thing for sure about the XM plug-in, everyone experiences something
different, which is apparent if you read the thousands of threads about
it.

Since I'm running 7.3 I don't even try any more.

Finally, I have XM Radio back on my Squeeze boxes (I have one SB
connected to our big stereo system and the other SB to my Bose Wave
radio)! A big thank to all who wrote the code, etc. and making this
possible. I have been following this thread since September and my
earlier attempts trying to follow poster’s recommendations all failed.
It is very possible that I made the errors.
I am running SqueezeCenter Version: 7.2 – 22900 (don’t dare download
Version 7.2.1 and lose XM again) and downloaded the XM Plugin 2.1.0
yesterday. The first time I tried accessing XM on my SB, I was able to
log in and select a channel BUT had no sound although the artist/title
was scrolling. The second time, I kept getting message that the music
was either STOPPED or PAUSED.
A little later, I logged in to XM again and browsed stations until I
finally reached my favorite “Escape” channel. This time (after
buffering), XM was working and is still working today.
Thank you all again, I am a happy camper! I originally bought the two
Squeeze boxes to have XM Radio access without having to install a roof
antenna, etc.

in a url (e.g. xmradio://40), but I get no sound.

Nope, I can't get it working with 7.3. XM was one of the selling point
for my first SB and it's been a pain in the butt since day one. I
realize Logitech doesn't support it so I have no grounds to gripe. I
had it working for a long time on 7.2, but haven't been able to get
anything more than you since 7.3. I'm enjoying using the controller as
a player so much I just gave up on XM. Now that XM and Sirius have
merged and a few of my favorite stations have been replaced, I'm about
ready to drop XM anyway.

I finally got a few minutes to mess with the XM plugin. Thanks to Joe
Bob who did the hard work of fixing the interface to the updated XM
Radio online network protocol, I have fixed the web interface for 7.2
and think I have a mostly functional plugin for 7.2.

Try the attached and report what you see. If it looks good, I'll

SC in runnning on Windows XP box acting as the server. It is pointing
to a Mac that manages my iTunes which is sharing its iTunes XML and

A and B in this case are different Squeezeboxes. I consistently get

Since restarting the server I haven't successfully (at least according

Does it care if I have logged into my XM Radio Online (XMRO) account

Hmm really?
Using itunes to listen to XM. Sorry I didnt like itunes way of handling

My wife had a XM gadget on her laptop and everytime the laptop was on
none of the programs could listen to XM. I think its because the XM
site doesnt like multiple logins.

For us the most important program was SC and the Duet remote so we
uninstalled everything else.

As brillo posted on page 2

Squeezecenter: Internet Radio: Tune in URL: xmradio://channel number

or
Manualy add it to your favorites using xmradio://channel number
And then use the favorites to switch channels. Thats kind of where I am

I cant do anything on the PC but let it log in and the Duet remote
doesnt even see the XM plugin which I would think is close to the

I cant seem to get XM to show up on the remote as a service but I did

artist:song name: etc to show.

Now with the updates when I go to Now playing I can see the Artist:song

Are other Duet users at the same spot I am at?
Are the developers of this great plugin using Duet?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] XM can no longer log in

Ok, so I am having a heck of a time getting this plugin to work again.

I downloaded the zip that was (nicely) uploaded to this forum to fix
the display after the XM update but haven't been able to get it to
work. Previously I had added the XM URLs to my favorite radio stations
and been able to succesfully play.

I'm on SC 7.2, and have updated the XML string to 7.3+ just to be safe.
The plugin loads properly, but whenever I try the log in command under
the XM Radio plugin menu, I get a Already logged in through client
(Insert Current Client Name Here) error message. So if I log in from
Squeezebox A, it says Squeezebox A, if I try Squeezebox B it says
that.

Thinking there was some connection open, I stopped the SC service,
removed the XM plugin, started the service (no XM in the interface any
more), started and stopped the service, recopied the XM plugin, and
retried to the same results.

Now, even the XM shortcuts in My Radio don't work.

Any ideas? Could there be some connection info somewhere that I can
reset?

Also, where does SC store Favorites information?

While we were using the workaround URL method for the XM plugin, I had
named my XM favorites, i.e. Fred. Now that I have song/title

I deleted all favorite information out of SC, but that info must live

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] XM can no longer log in

I applied the patch to my Slimserver 6.5 running on OS X, but couldn't
browse my presets at first. I monkeyed with my Squeezebox for a few
minutes (not sure what ended up working), but then the presets list was
properly populated. This morning, I went into my office to a different
Squeezebox, and couldn't find a way to get the presets or other channel
changes to work. When I hit play, I got the WMA error message.

I did go to Slimserver web interface and was able to tune in via the
web and properly control XM on the office squeezebox. I then turned off
the Squeezebox and brought it back online with the remote and the
presets were there. Not sure if there's any kind of caching that goes
on, but strangely it is now working.

Not really asking anything here, just sharing.

Hey all,

I've updated the file in the zip. The file goes into the
lib/Plugins/XMRadio folder in the Plugins-XMRadio-Plugin.par file
(which is a zip (I hope)), which is in XMRadio/lib.

No guarantees on whether or not this works. Make sure you backup your
existing plugin. I'm still running 6.5 and don't have the time to
upgrade.

Good luck,

I should also have noted that I simply updated the plugin that can be
downloaded off the plugins wiki. I don't know if that is the most up
to date version or if any other patches need to be applied to it. You
may need to go back to the forums to find fixes you may have already
applied.

I'd recommend simply getting a utility like 7zip and update your
existing plugin with the patched file. You're probably going to have
the best luck with that (unless, of course, the current plugin from the
wiki is up to date, in which case you should be fine).

I made a quick attempt to incorporate the changes made in XROAPI.pm to
work with 7.x. I made no attempt to fix the web interface issues for
7.2, but it appears to be working on my systems, (or as much of it as
before XM made their change). I installed this on both my Ubuntu
(SqueezeCenter 7.2) and Windows XP (SqueezeCenter 7.0) machines and it
worked. Obviously better with 7.0 than 7.2.

Joe Bob: Many thanks for fixing this. I'm sure there are other

Thanks Joe Bob for the fix; like Earlj, I incorporated the fixes into my
7.2 install. Some of the UI doesn't quite work as Earlj indicated, but
we pretty much only listen to 2 channels and I have them bookmarked, so
I'm happy!

Hey all,

It will probably be a while before I have time to get this packaged up.
In the meantime, for those of you who may be technically inclined, you
can simply copy the attached file over top of the existing plugin file
of the same name (XROAPI.pm should be in the Plugins/XMRadio folder).
I've only tested this with 6.5, but it should work with 7.x. (I think
7.x simply has a different packaging mechanism. I'm not sure what
philf needed to do to get it working with 7.x.)

Let me know if you have any problems and I'll try to help out when/if I
get some free time.

Best of luck,
JB

I don't think 7.x has a file with this name or extension. Anyone
figure anything out? Do we need to rename this file as an .html?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] XM can no longer log in

2008-10-18 Thread jerrberr

Joe Bob,

I've been looking at the XM plugin myself this week.

What I'd really like to be able to do is have the plugin cycle through
all of the SB clients online at the time an XM stream is started, log
them all out, or detect which one is currently logged in then log that
one out.

Once there are no logged in SB XM clients, it should be safe to start
the stream on the current client.

What do you think?

Issues:
The XM plugin only knows about the SB being controlled in SC. It knows
that the SB may not be the XM client logged in, but it doesn't know
which is the currently logged in SB client. You can see this by having
at least 2 SB on the system at one time. Log the first one (A) into XM
by playing a stream or logging in from the plugin interface in SC. Then
switch to the other SB (B) in SC. Go to the XM Plugin page in SC. The
message will be 'Already logged in through client (B)' even though
client (A) is the client that is actually logged in. I couldn't find
the currently logged in client in the xmplugin code. I don't think the
plugin keeps track of that. It looks to me that it only knows whether
the current client (whichever client SB is controlling) is loggedin.
This is why I wanted to make it easy on myself and log out all clients
that *I* know about. (I'm going to hard code these for the time being,
as I haven't looked at how to capture user data from the settings yet.)

Are the clients identified by MAC address in the plugin? Am I looking
at the wrong thing?

I have both Sirius and XM subscriptions. In an ideal world, I could get
both on one radio and Slim Devices would stream both seamlessly. After
all *I am paying for 4 subscriptions*. But we live in a world where we
are pawns. Mainly to the whims of those like Mel Karmazin. Slim is
also somewhat at his mercy, although they might or might not be able to
make Sirius-XM integration happen faster, at least on their devices...
I'd be really impressed if they could pull it off!

Hey everyone. This problem is not isolated to the SlimDevices plugins,
but there are some third-party apps that have the same problems.

Even the XMRO (XM's own web app to listen to stations on) has had some
weird issues since the addition of the Sirius channels to the lineup.

One piece of software that has done a good job of still working (a fix
was required) after the addition is the XaMP Studio software. You can
check it out here:

http://xamp.imomo.net/

Perhaps their forum has some clues as to what the fix is, and could be
implemented in a patch of the XM plugin?

Thanks for the tip. Works fine for me and it's good enough.

Thanks a bunch Brillo. This is a perfectly workable workaround. The
plugin still works for logging in and the stations can be added to
Favorites after using your tip.

Way cool! Thanks for the hint. I have been working 12 hour days and
went to turn on XM for a few minutes of sanity and got the error. I
growled and turned to the forums. It's great when there is someone to
help.

Thanks for the tip, this works for me now.

How now that the station is in the playlist, how do I add it to my
permanent favorites?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] XM can no longer log in

2008-09-30 Thread jarome

The plug in was working for me, but now it times out trying to log in.
Has XM changed something? Is it working for anyone now?
