Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)
I posted over in the Vortexbox forum as well, but I was hoping that someone might have seen something similar on a vanilla Linux/LMS install. I have a Linux box (vortexbox) set up with LMS and a local player using squeezelite to a single output (default green) on the local sound card. I also have the Spotify plugin set up and running. If I select the local player alone, I am able to use Spotify to send a stream to the local output. If I attempt to syncronize in an old SBR or a piCorePlayer (squeezelite on RPi), then the stream stops and I get the following error: [10:58:17.118860] main:599 req: stream.flc res: spotify:track:7H8XmKCybD94uJggrkOd1Z par: player=00%3A04%3A20%3A16%3Ae3%3Ae0start=0sync=3id=280 prot: SPOTSTREAM/1.0 auth: (null) [10:58:17.118933] main:793 newstream connection from 192.168.1.182 [10:58:17.119077] main:599 req: stream.flc res: spotify:track:7H8XmKCybD94uJggrkOd1Z par: player=b8%3A27%3Aeb%3A5c%3A51%3A2cstart=0sync=3id=280 prot: SPOTSTREAM/1.0 auth: (null) [10:58:17.119123] main:793 newstream connection from 192.168.1.171 [10:58:17.119152] metadata_updated:86 new meta [10:58:17.218425] main:599 req: stream.flc res: spotify:track:32t5GNmIdBvnS3KlfejsKx par: player=00%3A04%3A20%3Aad%3Aa7%3Ad2start=0sync=3id=281 prot: SPOTSTREAM/1.0 auth: (null) [10:58:17.218574] main:793 newstream connection from 192.168.1.138 [10:58:17.218602] main:833 existing streaming connection exists - killing [10:58:17.222917] check_player:299 player address mismatch 192.168.1.138 127.0.0.1 [10:58:17.223041] main:851 unable to play on this player: -5 Any advice? mcdudeabides's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=57765 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79706 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)
Sorry if this has been answered a couple of times before. I tried finding solutions to it but potentially I used the wrong keywords. (and especially this thread is simply too big to go through) Due to two very nasty (but obviously common) problems - Search results in the official plug in show a lot of not playable tracks (not available in your region) - Playlists created in spotify all of a sudden disappeared from the official spotify plugin or reported a Bad Gateway 502 - error. I just uninstalled the normal spotify plugin and installed the 3rd party version of triode. Basically this plugin works as I would have expected the official one to do. - Search results show playable tracks - Playlists are available and can be used. BUT. I am not able to play different Spotify songs on my different SBs devices at the same time. - I can start one album on one SB - it will play. - I can stop the first SB and start another album on the second SB - no problem - I can sync the second to the first SB and listen to the same spotify source at the same time - also no problem (that is actually also not working with the official logitech SB plug-in) - Nice ! - However, when the first SB plays album A and then I start the second SB to play album B both SBs will play perfectly for a short time. Then the first SB will stop in the middle of the current song. It will take a couple of seconds until it starts to play the next track of the current album. At this point of time the same thing will happen on the second SB. So it looks as if - with triode's plug-in - each SB opens a connection with spotify with the credentials entered in the plug-in settings. As spotify only allows one login per account at one time, you are logged out once somebody is logging in with the same credentials. So in the scenario described above, it looks as if the two SBs are constantly causing each other to be logged out and then directly log in again. I don't know why this should happen with triode's plug in while it does not with the official spotifiy plug in ? Apart from that problem, the triode plugin would be perfect for me. The problem is that my kids have their SB radios in their room and they can also use spotify. So if I am listening to spotify in the living room and they start something in their room - none of us can enjoy it. If the reason is the licence question with spotify - the question to me would be why this is not the case with the logitech plug in and (if Triode's approach is to stick more to the licensing restrictions) why it is then only possible to enter one set of credentials in the app. In order to play back different spotify sources at the same time you would then have to set up one set of credentials for each different squeezebox. Or am I simply doing something wrong ? h_asendorf's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=62710 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79706 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)
I just wanted to report back, I know it's been a while. I was one of those that had a lot of crashes of the helper app under windows. It's not that I've given up or something, but for no reason the crashes stopped after my last post. I didn't even update to any experimental/test versions yet, and I've only manually updated to the newest release via LMS control panel just now. So I have no clue as to what might've changed, near as I can tell nothing has. The one thing I was a bit surprised by was that I got curious just now (before catching up with this thread, since about June 20th) and checked the spotify settings in LMS and I've noticed that helper app logging was 'off', even though the last I've set it to was 'debug streaming'. Could the fact that logging got turned off somehow (I did restart the server once or twice) be a solution to some of these crashes? It would explain why the log doesn't really show any obviously related error about the crash? So possibly something depending on the log level? Well, for now I'm not gonna turn logging back on since everything seems to be running smoothly. So ain't gonna touch anything unless it breaks again :D As a side note, I tried checking for the version of spotifyd.exe after the update, but the field isn't set (when you do right-click -- properties in explorer, going to the Details-tab). I then noticed that you meant to check the log for the version (where it's printed nicely). Might be an idea to add that, and it should be rather trivial in VS anyway, shouldn't it? You must be using Logitech Media Server (LMS) running on local PC/Mac/NAS 3. in LMS, go to settings, tick show all 3rd party plugins, hit apply 4. Then find 3rd Party Spotify Plugin (note, alphabetically it is at the top under numbers, NOT under Spotify), tick it, then APPLY and restart LMS when asked 5. When you go back into LMS, then LMS Settings, go to the plugin tab, find Triode's 3rd Party Spotify plugin, to the right, click on Settings for this plugin, then enter your Spotify premium login credentials. 6. Now all should just work. Go back to main LMS page and either under myapps or Radio menu find Spotify and use it. Hi, I have the same issue that the upgrade of the spotify plugin removed the spotifyd.exe (and other files?) from my computer. After reinstalling it with the file from this thread (in the squeezebox/server folder) it is there but it will not start as mentioned Before. I also have Norton Internet Security of the latest version and can confirm that deactivating the smart firewall does not solve the issue My humble conlusion is that it is not Norton but the new version of the plugin that is the problem. Agree - the file is removed from C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Squeezebox\Cache\InstalledPlugins\Plugins\Spotify\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread and quarantined. If you put another copy there that gets removed too. You need to tell Norton IS to accept the file and restore it. I'm having exactly the same problem as TheCreat (post#5491.) Spotify stops streaming and a popup box informs me that spotifyd.exe has stopped working. OK, I did what I probably should have done a day ago and rebooted the server. I hate to do this because I use it as an application server for a bit of stuff and it always takes half an hour or so of work during which I pretty much can't do anything else and I'm never confident that everything will run correctly after the reboot (rightly so, UEML mysteriously needed an update to run this time, no idea why it worked before the reboot). Anyway, this seems to have fixed the issue, I'm now successfully streaming Spotify to my Boom again. Still weird. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)
Hi, I've got some really weird issue with the plugin I can't play on any of my ip3k players anymore. The first track shows buffering 1% then hangs. The only real difference I can see from the logs are the different buffer sizes used with setsockopts. Could it be that OSX doesn't support these large buffer sizes? Why does the plugin use different buffer sizes for ip3k players and SqueezePlay/iPeng? The weird thing is that both the players and the plugin seem to otherwise work fine. That is: I can play all kind of other material on the players and if I use iPeng as a player I can play Spotify just fine. However it looks like only the first client connecting in a sync group got updated. (This explains why this fix doesn't work for sync on linux). For your case on OSX - can you play to each player individually if sync is disabled? I am not aware of the larger setting causing a problem on osx, but I am testing on 10.6. For reference this is the code producing that debug line: Code: void set_sndbuf(sockfd s, int size) { int sndbufsize = size; socklen_t len = sizeof(sndbufsize); setsockopt(s, SOL_SOCKET, SO_SNDBUF, (const void *) sndbufsize, len); getsockopt(s, SOL_SOCKET, SO_SNDBUF, (void *) sndbufsize, len); LOG_DEBUG(setsockopt: asked for %d got %d, size, sndbufsize); } Do you see any reason for this not working with OSX with the larger value (which should be used for all clients not just the first to connect) Triode's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17 View this thread:

Seems to work with logging to /dev/null, too. I tried different log levels, too. Some work, some don't: Debug Stream - works Debug - doesn't work Info - often works Warn - unreliable (sometimes works, sometimes doesn't; retrying several times usually makes it work, eventually) Error - doesn't work Off - doesn't work Even Info is not 100% reliable, though. Only Debug Stream is. This was now all tested with /dev/null logging. And yes, this only started recently. Another hint: the last track I played will still work when I set a different log level. So if I play a track with Debug Stream and then change the log level I can't start other tracks but if I try to restart the last one that worked it will still play. (Edit for clarity: I'm on the last stable version, not the beta-release from a few pages back.) I've also switched this on. There is this message saying where it will log to, but the file never appears (no filename containing 'trace' exists anywhere in the programdata\squeezebox directory after playing a few tracks): Code: [22:55:52.707] main:469 tracefile: C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Logs\spotifyd.log.trace It might be that it's just added in the normal spotifyd.log. I also rebooted the machine altogether since I managed to break things altogether. I made it through one song and then let it sit for ten minutes - this time I did NOT get the crash. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)
I downloaded the new version and I can confirm that I'm still getting a regular crash of spotifyd.exe. The faulting module is always libspotify.dll - is that a 3rd-party DLL developed separately from spotifyd.exe? I wonder if there is a newer version of that DLL that a guy could try out. Another thing that I noticed is that spotifyd.exe is maxing out one of my four cores on my CPU. It is pretty much always 25%. I'll revert back to the other DLL and see if that has similar behavior (maybe that's normal...). spedinfargo wrote: Awesome - great to hear that there is ongoing development of this plug-in. This version does have another thread in it from the release version though so you may see some more cpu activity. Can you diagnose what it is doing? Also can you get a debug log from spotifyd.exe just before the crash -is there any common activity before it crashes. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any activity that usually precedes a crash (that post has a log attached). But rather notably, it usually crashes when no music is being played anywhere (one Squeezebox Radio is connected, but in standby). When I want to actually play something and it's stuck at connecting This resolves itself once I RDP into the server and click away the crash dialog, as the daemon is then restarted properly. One idea I recently had: I often stop playback by tapping next track or previous track and the power button immediately after. I do this usually because I'm near the end of a track and want to start with the next one when I turn back on, or because I want to hear the song again that I just heard. Can anyone else with crashes confirm that as likely? I only mention it because I noticed at least once after playback was just fine and I stopped like that, that when I went back to my PC where the RDP connection was open I saw a crash dialog, but obviously it was fine a second ago. Then again, I've also seen it suddenly crash while working on something completely unrelated on the machine, and nobody was using anything LMS related. I'll try to explicitly test for possible conditions though... Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)
Hello! First of all, thanks for a great plugin, but I do have one recurring problem with it: the service/helper keeps crashing on me. That wouldn't be much of a problem if the crash-dialog wouldn't prevent it from restarting until I have clicked it away. It even crashes when nothing is actually playing (though my Squeezebox Radio is on, but paused). The log doesn't show any errors, but I've pasted the last few entries below together with the crash report. Every line that has a spotifyd.exe 2.3.3 started was preceded by a crash, as you can see there wasn't much going on before that. I do very much prefer Triodes plugin in any case . I usually have 3 players active , never seen this problem maybe i try to play spotify in all of them and see whats happen ? This is a limitation imposed by spotify - its only possible to play one stream at once with libspotify. If you have a touch or radio and use that with the plugin then you can get more streams, but only one when the plugin has to process the stream (so if you have any non touch/radio devices) Triode's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79706 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)
Triode's plugin disappeared from his repository and the plugin list. It is neither mentioned anymore as project on his googlecode page. Does anyone has an idea what has happened and from where it is available now? I was using in the past a Spotify app (not the official one you can still find on my squeezebox.com), but this has stopped working a week ago. Neither is this app (with core on the icon) listed anymore in the app gallery. I am getting Spotify General Transient Errors in all searches at the moment. If I do a search I see Artists, Albums, Tracks and selecting Artrists or Albums produces a list but selecting anything on that list gives the general transient error. If I select Tracks I can play anything on that list. Anyone else seeing this behaviour? slartibartfast's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35609 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79706 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I can probably add something specific to make this work for your architecture if you verify that temporarily moving the files works. (there's already something specific in the plugin for Synology NASs for this) I have a Asustor 604T that is running the same Atom chip as the Synology 412+. I think I am having the similar problem. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)
I'm sure this might have been asked already, but is it possible to get the 'Browse' functionality from the Spotify iOS app into the Squeezebox app? Now that I've been forced to switch over to Spotify from MOG, I'm missing the new releases menu on a Tuesday. I'm finding that I have to browse the new albums using the iOS app, and then search for them in the Squeezebox app or iPeng. It would be much neater just to be able to browse them direct.
