Maybe this might shed a light on things :
My /boot/grub/device.map contains :
# this device map was generated by anaconda
(hd0) /dev/mapper/ddf1_Main

but /dev/mapper/ddf1_Main is not mounted. Instead /dev/sda1 is mounted.
So grub might not install itself because of this ?

My /boot/grub/device.map contains:

See http://www.gnu.org/software/grub/manual/html_node/Device-map.html

I would try commenting out the existing line, and adding the line as in
the file I have.

I've no idea what ddf1_Main is. It wouldn't need to be mounted, as grub
does its thing well before mounting takes place. Just out of curiosity,
what does:

# ls -l /dev/mapper/ddf1_Main
show you?

I doubt that barracudacentral will buy you much. I also expect that the
antispam feature on your Watchguard Firewall isn't catching anything
that wouldn't be caught by everything else you have. That's just a hunch
though.

This is a bug. Should be easy to fix. Would someone care to track it
down? The log messages with spamdyke are different, so this isn't
getting picked up. It'd be interesting to see this, as I expect it would
in reality be quite a bit higher with spamdyke.

Centos Centos 5.4 on ,,Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8200 @ 2.66GHz''.
IMHO Fedora has to short serve time to be used on server.

I agree. Fedora on a server is ludicrous. We do have a few folks who
like to sit on the bleeding edge though (for whatever reason). I think
it's good for QMT (and QTP) to be doable on Fedora since that represents
the future of CentOS, and we're thus prepared for new CentOS releases. I
wouldn't put Fedora on a production server though.

Stop qmail
Remove lock file(s) /home/vpopmail/.spamassassin/bayes_lock*
Start qmail

If you have auto_expire turned on (bayes_auto_expire 1) in
/etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf turn it off (bayes_auto_expire 0), and
set up a cron job to expire bayes:

#!/bin/sh
sa-learn -u vpopmail --force-expire
chown vpopmail:vchkpw /home/vpopmail/.spamassassin/bayes_toks

It accepted it because the sender was okay, but the SPF record did not
pass. Check your /var/qmail/control/spfbehavior file. It's probably at
the default of 3 which is okay for most, but you may need to lower it to
2 or 1 to get that particular email to work. There's more info on the wiki.

these two lines are the key.

the first line shows the remote mail server (216.37.105.169)
initiating a connection to your mail server.

the second line shows your mail server refusing the connection because
the remote mail server's IP address is in the Spamhaus SBL. to see
why, check the URL which is helpfully posted there in your log.

Mr. Bob needs to get his mail server delisted, or he's going to have
trouble sending to lots of other people besides you.

   Configure Domain's SPF

You can add SPF record for your domain, so other mailserver can
recognize which email was sent using your mailserver. Visit SPF

For your information, there are some admin that may provide SPF record
for their domain is wrong syntax. Or DNS server that provide SPF record
down. So it may reject emails to your server.

   thing 1

What I do is change the value into 1

# vi /var/qmail/control/spfbehavior
1
# qmailctl restart

Then add these SA rules, so it can prevent bad emails

   thing 2

# vi /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf
# add score to softfail SPF
header spf_softfail Received-SPF =~ /\bsoftfail\b/
score spf_softfail 1.0

# add score to fail SPF
header spf_fail Received-SPF =~ /\bfail\b/
score spf_fail 2.0
# qmail-spam restart

and would it be true that i can just cut paste the above ?

[qmailtoaster] Re: how to look in the log

2009-10-28 Thread Eric Shubert
The argument to the -lc (logs containing) flag is a regular expression,
or regex for short. The period is a special regex character meaning
match any character. The backslash escapes this special meaning so the
period is treated literally as a period and not any character.

It would probably work the same either way, but without the slash the
regex would also (for instance) match bi...@billybobxcom. Not likely
that any other string in the logs would match with something other than
a period in that position. I just included it so you would ask, and I
could explain. ;)

[qmailtoaster] ppc install?

2009-10-28 Thread Donald Wheeling

Hello all. I've been away for quite a while and haven't followed qmailtoaster's
progress very closely. I am now getting back into it and I'd like to update a
very old qmailtoaster (2004) install but I'm uncertain if the hardware is still
supported. I have a ppc that I'd like to reuse for this purpose but, after a
couple of days, I can't find anything that says it is still supported. In the
past I remember I used to pass redhat arguments to the rpms during install but
with the new OS advancements ppc support may be just a memory. Machine specs
are below:

Machine - PPC power tower pro
OS - yellow dog linux 4.0 (redhat variant)

I did find one reference to ppc in the mailing lists but it was vague. It might
have been a reference to a client not the server. Any suggestions are of course
welcomed.

Hello all. I've been away for quite a while and haven't followed
qmailtoaster's progress very closely. I am now getting back into it
and I'd like to update a very old qmailtoaster (2004) install but I'm
uncertain if the hardware is still supported. I have a ppc that I'd
like to reuse for this purpose but, after a couple of days, I can't
find anything that says it is still supported. In the past I remember
I used to pass redhat arguments to the rpms during install but with
the new OS advancements ppc support may be just a memory. Machine
specs are below:

Machine - PPC power tower pro
OS - yellow dog linux 4.0 (redhat variant)

I did find one reference to ppc in the mailing lists but it was vague.
It might have been a reference to a client not the server. Any
suggestions are of course welcomed.

Welcome back!
The build flags you used then will still work today. You will need to
use the cnt40 flag for your particular case, since that will be CentOS 4
which is (almost) the same as Yellow Dog 4 (if I remember correctly), or
you can use rht90 which will compile for generic Redhat 9.0.

I unfortunately do not have any PPC hardware (nor even a copy of YD4!)
to test on, so please post back here on any updates/progress you make.

it is not. welcome to CIDR :)

http://www.subnet-calculator.com/cidr.php

enter the offending subnet as listed by Spamhaus (216.37.96.0) in the
IP Address fields, then enter 20 (the /20 part of the address) in
the Mask Bits field, then look at the CIDR Address Range field to
see which IP addresses fall within the subnet.

The argument to the -lc (logs containing) flag is a regular

It would probably work the same either way, but without the slash the
regex would also (for instance) match bi...@billybobxcom. Not likely
that any other string in the logs would match with something other
than a period in that position. I just included it so you would ask,

so more info on the wiki is

so I just do the below --( so do 2 things

Configure Domain's SPF

You can add SPF record for your domain, so other mailserver can
recognize which email was sent using your mailserver. Visit SPF
http://wiki.qmailtoaster.com/index.php/SPF page for detail info
about it.

For your information, there are some admin that may provide SPF
record for their domain is wrong syntax. Or DNS server that provide
SPF record down. So it may reject emails to your server.

thing 1

What I do is change the value into 1

# vi /var/qmail/control/spfbehavior
1
# qmailctl restart

Then add these SA rules, so it can prevent bad emails

thing 2

# vi /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf
# add score to softfail SPF
header spf_softfail Received-SPF =~ /\bsoftfail\b/
score spf_softfail 1.0

# add score to fail SPF

header spf_fail Received-SPF =~ /\bfail\b/
score spf_fail 2.0
# qmail-spam restart

and would it be true that i can just cut paste the above ?

thanks!

That will work, yes.

RE: [qmailtoaster] Re: qtp-newmodel fails on FUSE

2009-10-28 Thread Scott Collingwood
I have an x64 system running on the new kernel. It is a vmware guest. I ran
into the fuse error problem as well. I actually ran into this problem on the
test x64 machine and a x86 production machine. Both seemed to resolve
themselves with a reboot.

That explains why fuse doesn't necessarily work.

Ben and CJ, are your problem toasters 64-bit as well??

Is anyone with a x86_64 toaster actually running a newer kernel?
 Please chime in.

# this device map was generated by anaconda
(hd0) /dev/sda

See http://www.gnu.org/software/grub/manual/html_node/Device-map.html

I would try commenting out the existing line, and adding the line as in
the file I have.

I've no idea what ddf1_Main is. It wouldn't need to be mounted, as grub
does its thing well before mounting takes place. Just out of curiosity,
what does:
# ls -l /dev/mapper/ddf1_Main
show you?

Sure you're a good choice! The wiki has a couple ins-and-outs to be
learned, but they're not too bad. Then it's just a matter of organizing
the information to make it easier to find, and updating old information
for the new options and such.
Register on the wiki and read the associated help documents on how to
write articles and look at some of the ones already written. If
something gets messed up too bad, I'm sure someone will come along and
fix/revert it.

Thanks!

It accepted it because the sender was okay, but the SPF record did not
pass. Check your /var/qmail/control/spfbehavior file. It's probably at the
default of 3 which is okay for most, but you may need to lower it to 2 or 1
to get that particular email to work. There's more info on the wiki.

so more info on the wiki is

 http://wiki.qmailtoaster.com/index.php/QMT-ISO_Manual_Guide
so I just do the below --( so do 2 things
  Configure Domain's SPF

You can add SPF record for your domain, so other mailserver can recognize
which email was sent using your mailserver. Visit
SPFhttp://wiki.qmailtoaster.com/index.php/SPFpage for detail info about it.

For your information, there are some admin that may provide SPF record for
their domain is wrong syntax. Or DNS server that provide SPF record down. So
it may reject emails to your server.
 thing 1

What I do is change the value into 1

 # vi /var/qmail/control/spfbehavior
 1
 # qmailctl restart

Then add these SA rules, so it can prevent bad emails
 thing 2

 # vi /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf
 # add score to softfail SPF
 header spf_softfail Received-SPF =~ /\bsoftfail\b/
 score spf_softfail 1.0

 # add score to fail SPF
 header spf_fail Received-SPF =~ /\bfail\b/
 score spf_fail 2.0
 # qmail-spam restart

and would it be true that i can just cut paste the above ?
 thanks!

 That will work, yes.
Guess we should launch a group to update/organize the wiki a little. Any

Are you running the latest version of QControl? I think there was a bug
with linefeeds produced by PHP that would cause the tcp.smtp file to be
incorrectly parsed. The new version should fix this, or you can edit it
and fix it yourself. There was a post a couple months back about this,
especially as it relates to the invalid MX for sender domain - that's a
different switch you need to add to the tcp.smtp file. Or get the
sending email to add an MX entry for their domain

you can try by running dos2unix tcp.smtp in tcp.d folder.

hm; it's not clear to me from a quick web search what exactly the
relationship is between YDL and CentOS, so i can't speak authoritatively.

these are all the versions of fuse-unionfs currently in RPMforge; are
you looking for a different version/arch? i see 0.23 for el4 and el5,
i386/x86_64/ppc, and 0.23 for el3 i386.

I don't care about fuse-unionfs so much, as fuse-unionfs (and fuse)
packages are coming from the QTP repo. I would need someone to build
these packages on a ppc for the repo.

CentOS 4,5 need the dkms and dkms-fuse packages as well. In my testing
FC10/11 didn't need these packages. I thought that this was because of
the kernel version, but I'm not so sure about now that this the reason.
I'd be grateful for some enlightenment. dkms (and dkms-fuse) might be
needed for YDL as well. They should be in the RF repo.

RE: [qmailtoaster] ppc install?

2009-10-28 Thread Donald Wheeling

Good to know. Unfortunately, and expectedly, I cannot find yellow dog linux
updates to make it current so I'm going to have to update every package the
hard way without yum. If anyone knows a dependable ppc source RPM site to make
this easier I'm all ears.

I'd like to update a very old qmailtoaster (2004) install but I'm
uncertain if the hardware is still supported. I have a ppc that I'd
like to reuse for this purpose but, after a couple of days, I can't
find anything that says it is still supported. In the past I remember I
used to pass redhat arguments to the rpms during install but with the
new OS advancements ppc support may be just a memory. Machine specs
are below:

Machine - PPC power tower pro

OS - yellow dog linux 4.0 (redhat variant)

I did find one reference to ppc in the mailing lists but it was vague.
It might have been a reference to a client not the server. Any
suggestions are of course welcomed.

Welcome back!

The build flags you used then will still work today. You will need to
use the cnt40 flag for your particular case, since that will be CentOS
4 which is (almost) the same as Yellow Dog 4 (if I remember correctly),
or you can use rht90 which will compile for generic Redhat 9.0.

I unfortunately do not have any PPC hardware (nor even a copy of YD4!)
to test on, so please post back here on any updates/progress you make.

Re: [qmailtoaster] ppc install?

2009-10-28 Thread Craig McLaughlin
A quick poke at http://rpmfind.net came up with dkms and fuse for the ppc
architecture. Perhaps it will have others you seek?

In the past I've had luck with rpm.pbone.net, but a scan there didn't come
up with any immediately obvious candidates for ppc. Still, it may be worth
some further digging.

[qmailtoaster] Server Mail

2009-10-28 Thread Mike Canty
To All,
I now have in place three Qmail Toaster Servers in three different
locations. These servers are part of individual networks, or whish there
are other CentOS and RedHat servers.

I am having issues with mail from the other servers as these are running
Sendmail by default. The problem lies in the fact that I can send messages
from the Sendmail servers to the Toasters Servers, as long as they are
within the same network and they are not an alias/forward account.

The real issue is CHKUSER does its job too well and it rejects messages from
the Sendmail servers, if it's to be sent to another account or network.
This is the type of error I get...

@40004ae9186406b54edc CHKUSER rejected sender: from
r...@backup.mydomain.com:: remote
backup.mydomain.com:unknown:77.60.23.95 rcpt : invalid sender MX domain

I understand that there are issues with servers that are not really
configured as a full Mail server, but what can I do to rectify this error.

Can someone please let me know what I need to do to the sendmail.cf file to
get around this. Or what needs to be done to the Qmail Toaster settings to
allow the incorrect MX issue.

Cheers
Mike Canty

Re: [qmailtoaster] Server Mail

2009-10-28 Thread Maxwell Smart

Mike,

I am not 100% sure, but I think you can put the MX address in the host
file of the server that is rejecting the mail because of an invalid
sender MX domain. I am pretty sure it's because it can't resolve the
address.

Host file entry
snip
77.60.23.95 backup.mydmain.com
/snip

or you may be able to add an entry in the local domain file.

I believe either solution will work. Hopefully someone else can chime
in to confirm. I don't think the rcpt host file allows ip addresses.
