Re: [qmailtoaster] How to upgrade Clamav 0.99

2015-12-14 Thread Natalio Gatti
Hello Eric. I am trying to install clamav 0.99 rpm on centos 6.7 64bit, but
it fails requesting libcurl 3:

[root@smtp ~]# rpm -Uvh --test clamav-toaster-0.99-1.4.12.x86_64.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
libcurl.so.3()(64bit) is needed by clamav-toaster-0.99-1.4.12.x86_64

In CentOs 6 I have curl installed, and all its libraries:
[root@smtp ~]# rpm -qa | grep curl
curl-7.19.7-46.el6.x86_64
libcurl-7.19.7-46.el6.x86_64
python-pycurl-7.19.0-8.el6.x86_64
libcurl-devel-7.19.7-46.el6.x86_64

Am I missing some package?

Thanks,

Sorry for this mail-storming. I finally solved the problem. I downloaded
the SRPM for centos5 and compiled it in my centos6.
Everything went OK.

Thanks anyway.

Download the source package:
ftp://ftp.whitehorsetc.com/pub/qmail/CentOS6/qmt/srpms/clamav-0.99-0.qt.src.rpm
recompile it:
rmpbuild --rebuild clamav-0.99-0.qt.src.rmp

It's more secure than force the instalation. I always compile all QMT packages
from souces.

Re: [qmailtoaster] How to upgrade Clamav 0.99

2015-12-14 Thread Natalio Gatti
Mmm, I think I found the problem.. and it is no good at all.
I installed this Centos when there was no official packages for Centos6, so
I used Centos5 rpms.
I can see that there was a change in the naming scheme. In Centos5 it is
clamav-toaster and in Centos6 it is just clamav.
I was trying to install centos5 version and it requests libcurl(3). But if
I wan to install Centos6 clamav, it complains about the change in naming
scheme:
[root@smtp clamav]# rpm -Uvh --test clamav-0.99-0.qt.el6.x86_64.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
clamav-toaster is needed by (installed)
simscan-toaster-1.4.0-1.4.0.x86_64

Can I force the installation? Or it will break qmail?

Thanks.

I have been following up the conversation in this subject hoping that
someone will put details in upgrading QMT to QTP.

Anyone can help me out? I checked on the QTP website and did not find
how-to's/step by step (or I'm just blind :)) install instructions for a
newbie like me.

I'm using the original installation of CentOS_5_QmailToaster_Install.

Thank you for the usual support.

QTP is an add-on utility to QMT. It provides some tools to make
administering QMT easier. One of those is an upgrade script.
The upgrade script builds a sandbox, or in essence a clone of your
current system to build the new packages in. That way you do not have to
take your system offline while building the package. They're built in
the sandbox instead, and then when the upgrade actually happens you're
only offline for a couple minutes instead of the 30 or more that you
would be with a normal by-hand upgrade.

I also seen some problems with spamassasin and would like that to be

You'll install the QTP package, and then run qtp-menu to see the menu
of extra stuff added. newmodel is in there, which is the upgrade
script and during the process you can skip packages so skip the
spamassassin package (Erik still hasn't fixed it to the best of my

No problem. saupdate is a utility that will (on a daily basis) update
the spamassassin rules from the spamassassin website, as well as
including some extra rules from the SARE website. It doesn't modify
your spamassassin config file.
At the CLI, you can always man qmailtoaster-plus to get some

here do. I am most appreciative, especially the QMT-ISO project. I
might not be running Qmail if not for it. I just personally don't
have a lot of spare time to troubleshoot and do workarounds when I run
into problems, and therefore waiting is best for me. I know it will be
fixed eventally.

For some weird reason, some folks seem to think that using something which
others make available mean that there is no thank you, no appreciation, no
return in one form or another.

Most know that's not the case for if it were, open source projects would not
exist at all. They exist because people do give back when they can, in one
way or, another :).

I managed to upgrade qmail-toaster on CentOS 5 with qtp-newmodel, but I
had to upgrade manually the Perl modules with the rpm-s from

TTBOMK no one has ever had a system failure as a result of using
qtp-newmodel. It's really quite safe, and the time your toaster will be

I have used the Newmodel script several times and it has worked great
for me.

However, I would highly suggest running a backup just so that you are
sure you can restore the system if something fails.

Thanks

qtp-newmodel (and any other method of upgrading using the latest
packages) will fail due to the spamassassin-toaster package. Once it's
been fixed on the main site then qtp-newmodel will work again (since it
downloads the latest packages from the qmailtoaster.org site, it will
always download the broken package).
You can MANUALLY upgrade using a slightly older version, but that will
take your system offline for however long it takes you to build the
packages.

So Jake it seems I should wait? I need it as problem free as possible due
to time constraints.

What does it take to update that package on the site? I will help if I
can...but I am not capable of much other than sysadmin type activities.

qtp-newmodel (and any other method of upgrading using the latest
packages) will fail due to the spamassassin-toaster package. Once it's
been fixed on the main site then qtp-newmodel will work again (since it
downloads the latest packages from the qmailtoaster.org site, it will
 always download the broken package).
You can MANUALLY upgrade using a slightly older version, but that will
take your system offline for however long it takes you to build the
 packages.

I'd only like to add that qtp-newmodel can be used to upgrade packages
selectively. For the time being, if you're on CentOS5 or a fairly recent
version of FC, just say no to upgrading the spamassassin package.

What does it take to update that package on the site? I will help if I

I would wait, yes.
The only way to update the package on the site is for Erik (Espinoza,
not Eric Shubes) to do it.
I don't have much time this week, but I'll try and make an updated/fixed
package available for download on my site soon.

For some weird reason, some folks seem to think that using something which
others make available mean that there is no thank you, no appreciation, no
return in one form or another.

Most know that's not the case for if it were, open source projects would not
exist at all. They exist because people do give back when they can, in one way
or, another :).

This was on Jake's QMT-ISO by the way.
