Hi Debbie,

I've not seen an upper limit. But I haven't been looking for an upper limit
because I feel that I'm chronically borderline deficient anyway. Mg seems to
be the one thing that will haul me back from grumps, confusion and
depression. I take a Ca+ Mg powder morning and evening and let them sort
themselves out inside. Somewhere i read that it is better to take Ca in the
late afternoon or early evening and to take Mg early in the morning. Then
also read that Ca needs some Mg and that Mg needs a bit of Ca to be readily
absorbed.

You have had some wise replies. your running out of energy could come from
anywhere. I used to get Sunday Sickness. I'd go like a Boeing, sorta,
during the week and collapse over the weekend. Long afterwards figured that
Sunday Sickness was probably due to relaxing: release of tension somehow
released toxins which created a mini Herx; headache, nausea, lassitude. If
only I'd known then to relax, drink more water etc

Mg Dosage (min) is anyway tricky thing to establish exactly, because
recommended dosage figures are usually in elemental Mg and the packages are
in Magnesium Carbonate or whatever. ( I take guess that elemental Mg is
about 1/2 of the actual compound ; unless it is stated. ) Also we need
relatively more as we age. and absorbtion and requirements depend on other
factors like Vit D consumption

The RDA is 350mg per day.
Krispin says 500mg per day as minimum.

I googled magnesium safe dose and first hit was this site:
http://www.krispin.com/magnes.html

Recommended Dietary Allowance

To compensate for deficiencies and/or losses the new RDA is expected to be
500 mg. per day. My Krispin-RDA is a total of 500-700 mg magnesium daily.

Determination of optimal amounts must take into consideration both body size
and activity level. Magnesium is a key component of the ATP cycle in the
cell which produces all energy.
Formula to Calculate Magnesium Daily Requirement- 5 to 10 milligrams per
day per kilo of ideal body weight or 2.5 to 4.5 milligrams per day per pound
of ideal body weight.

Example: 70 kilos or 150 pounds= 350 mg. to 700 mg. daily.

(Do not use these calculations for children. The requirements for children
are calculated differently. Please consult with your health care
professional for more information.)

If one or more deficiency or loss factors are a consideration or you have
any of the conditions associated with low magnesium use the higher number-

you take diuretics, including potassium sparing diuretics
you are an athlete in training
 you are diabetic
you have hypertension
you are post surgical
you are under large amounts of stress
you consume large amounts of carbohydrates
you are repairing damaged tissue as in arthritis
the weather is very hot, you perspire profusely
you have any of the conditions listed above
you are dieting with/without medications
you are experiencing chronic pain
you have heart disease
you have high cholesterol or triglycerides

When I was in my teens, I worked at a grocery store and was sick
after every shift. I never realized it was the lights until I
changed jobs and it stopped happening, then went back to work in a
department store and got sick with the same symptoms. When I would
go shopping, I'd get sick again! Finally met a biochemist who told
me that it was the fluorescent lights that were doing it. At the
time, I thought it was weird. I still hate to go shopping because I
don't feel well when done, and I'm a fast shopper!

My friend, has three sons, two functioning autistic, all full grown.
One 'hears' fluorescent lights and it drives him crazy. He also
hears 'wiring' in the walls. The other is very sensitive to sunlight
and gets hives and nausea.

I'm not sure what the connection is, but my very wild guess is anyone
who may have a lot of heavy metals or fungus in their bodies, might
have a reaction from fluorescent lights for some reason. I would
guess the same can be true from certain rays of the sun.

I agree with Annie, some people are sensitive to florescent
lights. In addition to that, there are some neurotoxins that
increase sensitivity to EM frequencies, including lights. It is
possible that your body has trouble handling it when you are more
fatigued, or maybe you are being exposed to something during your
workday that increases your sensitivity. Our bodies normally
filter out such things, and perhaps that is what happens
overnight. I know many people with EM sensitivities, so you are
not alone.

Re: CSStrange question

2009-11-08 Thread Garnet

I agree with the idea that fluorescent lights can cause health
effects in sensitive people. And are known to be the least
healthy light source for anyone.

Here is a good page with a questionnaire that helps people
identify a

possible sensitivity.

http://www.ei-resource.org/illness-information/related-conditions/electrical-sensitivity--hypersensitivity/

Even though you are taking a Mg supplement and using
Mg Oil you could still be deficient in Mg. The trace mineral
silicon
is essential to Calcium and Magnesium absorption and
utilization.

Good sources are leafy greens and herbs like Nettles, Oat Straw
and Horse tail. Also in onions, best when lightly cooked or
raw.
Chelated minerals, especially the orotate forms are better
than non-chelated.

If stress is increasing your cortisol levels during the day
then your Mg

levels could be dropping by the end of the day.

You may be experiencing a combination effect of all of the
above or some other physical condition may be contributing.
Repetitive motion and posture while you are working may
be part of how you feel at the end off the day. Also the
level of

electromagnetic exposures in the work place during the day is
worth looking at.

Your DW should not show a Tyndall effect. Possibly in a completely dark

magnitude fainter than what you see in a properly prepared CS product. Your

The distilled water I buy in the store has a tyndall effect like what you are
talking about. The distilled water reads .8 uS on my com-100. I have run this
water through my distiller and it still reads .8 uS and still has a tyndall
effect. I hope it is just air or something similar. John.

Debbie,

When I was in my teens, I worked at a grocery store and was sick after every

happening, then went back to work in a department store and got sick with the
same symptoms. When I would go shopping, I'd get sick again! Finally met a
biochemist who told me that it was the fluorescent lights that were doing it.
At the time, I thought it was weird. I still hate to go shopping because I
don't feel well when done, and I'm a fast shopper!

My friend, has three sons, two functioning autistic, all full grown. One
'hears' fluorescent lights and it drives him crazy. He also hears 'wiring' in
the walls. The other is very sensitive to sunlight and gets hives and nausea.

I'm not sure what the connection is, but my very wild guess is anyone who may
have a lot of heavy metals or fungus in their bodies, might have a reaction
from fluorescent lights for some reason. I would guess the same can be true
from certain rays of the sun.

How about a hat made of foil?

Seriously. There are fabrics made that screen EM frequencies, and they
are made with silver threads in with the cotton or whatever. The
military use them for privacy (Em fields are also cell phones and
radios) and who knows what else. But they are reported to also work
for this kind of thing.

I have an OTT light in my kitchen, and the ends of the tubes are
wrapped with lead foil to prevent the nasty type of frequencies from
leaking out the ends. Someone else suggested aluminum foil might work
the same way, and it is worth a try.

If you did a test run with some kitchen foil to shield your head/neck
area just to see if it would work, then it might be worth sinking the
money/time into seeing if the fabric is available at something less
than an exorbitant price. Or maybe an army/navy surplus would have
something like it.

Maybe you are tired of ideas now, but it seemed worth mentioning. Best
Wishes, Kathryn

Re: CSStrange question

2009-11-08 Thread Tony Moody
Hi Debbie,

I've not seen an upper limit. But I haven't been looking for an upper
limit because I feel that I'm chronically borderline deficient anyway. Mg
seems to be the one thing that will haul me back from grumps, confusion
and depression. I take a Ca+ Mg powder morning and evening and let them
sort themselves out inside. Somewhere i read that it is better to take Ca
in the late afternoon or early evening and to take Mg early in the
morning. Then also read that Ca needs some Mg and that Mg needs a bit of
Ca to be readily absorbed.

You have had some wise replies. your running out of energy could come
from anywhere. I used to get Sunday Sickness. I'd go like a Boeing,
sorta, during the week and collapse over the weekend. Long afterwards
figured that Sunday Sickness was probably due to relaxing: release of
tension somehow released toxins which created a mini Herx; headache,
nausea, lassitude. If only I'd known then to relax, drink more water etc

Mg Dosage (min) is anyway tricky thing to establish exactly, because
recommended dosage figures are usually in elemental Mg and the packages
are in Magnesium Carbonate or whatever. ( I take guess that elemental Mg
is about 1/2 of the actual compound ; unless it is stated. ) Also we need
relatively more as we age. and absorbtion and requirements depend on
other factors like Vit D consumption

The RDA is 350mg per day.
Krispin says 500mg per day as minimum.

I googled magnesium safe dose and first hit was this site:
http://www.krispin.com/magnes.html

Recommended Dietary Allowance

To compensate for deficiencies and/or losses the new RDA is expected to
be 500 mg. per day. My Krispin-RDA is a total of 500-700 mg magnesium
daily.

Determination of optimal amounts must take into consideration both body
size and activity level. Magnesium is a key component of the ATP cycle in
the cell which produces all energy.
Formula to Calculate Magnesium Daily Requirement- 5 to 10 milligrams per
day per kilo of ideal body weight or 2.5 to 4.5 milligrams per day per
pound of ideal body weight.

Example: 70 kilos or 150 pounds= 350 mg. to 700 mg. daily.

(Do not use these calculations for children. The requirements for
children are calculated differently. Please consult with your health care
professional for more information.)

If one or more deficiency or loss factors are a consideration or you have
any of the conditions associated with low magnesium use the higher number-

you take diuretics, including potassium sparing diuretics
you are an athlete in training
 you are diabetic
you have hypertension
you are post surgical
you are under large amounts of stress
you consume large amounts of carbohydrates
you are repairing damaged tissue as in arthritis
the weather is very hot, you perspire profusely
you have any of the conditions listed above
you are dieting with/without medications
you are experiencing chronic pain
you have heart disease
you have high cholesterol or triglycerides

hth, got to go,

OK,
Tony

Muscle spasms can be a symptoms of Magnesium deficiency.

Try taking Magnesium, an easy way is to use Milk of Magnesia, small
amounts will be absorbed if you are deficient and not cause the laxative
effect. Spread it out over the day or use at the end of the day. MOM is
  rapidly absorbed.

There are many food sources of Mg like almonds, cashews, peanuts,
  dark leafy greens, dark chocolate.

There are topical Mg Oils, that are not really oils, but concentrated
sea water. They are costly but they can be applied topically to the
  area.

Best way to get Mg is in your food. At the end of the day your muscles
may be fatigued and more prone to spasm.

Full spectrum bulbs would be nice, and although costly they last many
times longer than ordinary fluorescents and would increase worker
productivity. Maybe they would go for it? 6,000 kelvin is the rating to
look for. Not just Grow Lights for plants.

Fluorescent lights flicker at 60 cycles per second. Also, when the
balast or the light is starting to fail, it can also produce a
pronounced flickering. This flickering can cause eyestrain. Certain
frequencies of light, being unnatural, are also conducive to
eyestrain. Usually, this strain then produces some sort of headache
or tensing of the muscles around the head, the neck, and/or the
shoulders.

After working all day, you are probably tired and the extra strain
produced by the fluorescents probably are enough to make the problem
noticeable...

you're just extra sensitive to them when you're fatigued at the end of the day.

Muscle spasms can be a symptoms of Magnesium deficiency.

Try taking Magnesium, an easy way is to use Milk of
Magnesia, small
amounts will be absorbed if you are deficient and not cause
the laxative
effect. Spread it out over the day or use at the end of the
day. MOM is

rapidly absorbed.

There are many food sources of Mg like almonds, cashews,
peanuts,

dark leafy greens, dark chocolate.

There are topical Mg Oils, that are not really oils, but
concentrated
sea water. They are costly but they can be applied topically
to the

area.

Best way to get Mg is in your food. At the end of the day
your muscles

may be fatigued and more prone to spasm.

Full spectrum bulbs would be nice, and although costly they
last many
times longer than ordinary fluorescents and would increase
worker

productivity. Maybe they would go for it? 6,000 kelvin is the
rating to look for. Not just Grow Lights for plants.

Some people are sensitive to fluorescent lights. For instance epileptic
people can't tolerate fluorescents well. They can trigger epileptic
seizures. Maybe you're just extra sensitive to them when you're fatigued

A Qlink might help. I've heard some promising things about them. I've
been saving to buy one. You can find them more reasonably priced on eBay

Hi Ruth,
Thanks for the suggestion, I thought that is what maybe I had, so I
did go to the eye doctor, he looked and didn't find any infection, or
signs of glaucoma or iritis, etc. Of course, my eye was quite a lot
better by the time I got to see the doctor. His diagnosis dermatitis,
probably connected to my eczema. He said he is familar with shingles and
this definitely isn't shingles. That was a relief. The eczema is bad

CSstrange eye (lid) problem

2007-09-12 Thread sol
In the past couple weeks I've gotten a couple tiny boil like things on
the sides of the upper bridge of my nose. Thinking they were just from
the rubbing/pressure of the nose pads of my glasses (have had them
occasionally from that) I just treated them with CS/DMSO and didn't
think more about it, but now

In the past 4 days, I've had a couple of boil looking 'pimples' in the
eye area. First right where the edge of the under eye skin, in the
crease where the delicate eye skin meets the cheekbone skin, near the nose.
Last night I looked to see what was causing pain in my inner right upper
eyelid, and there was another pimple or boil type of thing very near the
inner corner of the eye, and right on the very inner edge of the eyelid.
I drained it, but could not avoid some of the infected matter getting in
my eye, because of where it was.

All have been treated with CS/DMSO, and seem to be resolving ok. I will
continue misting my right eye today with CS/DMSO and putting in CS/MSM
eye drops. And have also begun taking a lot more CS orally as of last
night and today.

I have also during these same 4 days had some pimples on my scalp, just
back from the hairline in the area between the temples and sides of head
above the eara

The question: I think this must indicate some soruce of infection, maybe
tooth or sinus infection? What should I consider looking at as the
possible source of the infection? If I decide to go to a doctor to have
this looked at, what should I request they look at? Dental x-rays? Maybe
I should see a dentist first? I do not have any tooth pain.
thanks for any comments, guesses, or speculations, I wasn't very
concerned until the one last night which was actually rubbing against
the eyeball as I blinked. Now I think I had better pay attention.

Re: CSstrange eye (lid) problem

2007-09-12 Thread Ruth Bertella

Hiya Sol,

Have you ever had shingles before and know what the symptoms are? This
sounds like what happened to me when I came down with/was diagnosed with
having shingles. They started out as little pimple like things, then turned
into what looked like tiny blisters then popped and made scabs. Mine
started on the eyelid and eyebrow area, went across my forehead and into my
scalp a few inches. I started having relatively bad headaches off and on,
but waited about 3 weeks before going to the doctor. He prescribed a weeks
worth of something for herpes (can't remember what it's been so long, but
I'm pretty sure its what they presribe for genital herpes and was probably
over the worst of it). He said I had a mild case of shingles. At the
time I was drinking several ounces of CS daily. I did not fill the
prescription, just continued to drink my CS (but lots more than usual), and
also started applying CS topically several times a day. It took a few weeks
but it finally cleared up. Another symptom was a creepy-crawly feeling
from time to time along the area of the breakout. After it cleared up, it
left what looked like blackheads, which I extracted over several days time.
Sounds like you have a good head start on taking care of it at least. Hope
you feel better real soon!!

What happened is that the silver agglomerated into very large
particles. Particles of what? Who knows!

Red indicates a certain size range, not neccesarily composition.
Probably, there's something in your tap water that acts as a catylist.
Silver itself is an industrial catylist.

When dealing with charged ions, anything that can happen, will happen.

night the CS turned the tap water a faint red color almost instantly.

Recently I changed my process from making one pint at a time to making 4
pints at a time. Instead of using a one pint beer glass, I now use a 4
pint mason jar. I use two pieces of 12 gauge silver wire that are
wetted in DW to four and one half inches. To agitate the solution, I use
the second hand movement from a cheap clock motor. I attach monofilament
fishing line to the clock motor and suspend a small piece of silver to the
bottom of the electrodes.

I'm using about 300 uA to keep the electrodes from turning black. I'm
running it for about 12 to 14 hours. The solution finishes clear but
sometimes turns a very faint yellow after a few days. The brew vessel is
always scrubbed good - without soap - and rinsed several times in DW.

I've made red CS in the past by hitting it with 100 VDC and letting it run
violently for a while. Lots of black streamers and bubbles (^_^). But I've
never seen my clear or faint yellow CS turn the tap water red, even when I
was using my older, higher current, wipe the black stuff off of the
electrodes process.

Any comments or suggestions?

Hi Paula,

Yeah, I guess faint red is the same thing as pink. Maybe diluting CS
with tap water has been changing it's color all along and I didn't
notice it until the other night. I guess I better dilute it only with DW
as per Ole Bob's recommendation. When my sinuses clog up in the middle
of the night I become a mouth breather and I wake up and drink a lot
of water. I thought that adding CS to the water might be a good idea. I
should probably rethink my protocol.

Best wishes,

mean pink?
Wonder why the color it changes to isn't always the same color?

Give the cat a bowl of cs, straight up or diluted in DW. No more than
the cat will drink though as saliva eventually makes it go violet. Wash
the bowl between filling it. Cat water bowls get a slime on the bottom.

Most cats prefer CS to plain water anyway.

Re: CSStrange results

2003-06-15 Thread AScottSilver
Hi Paula,

Yeah, I guess faint red is the same thing as pink. Maybe diluting CS with tap
water has been changing it's color all along and I didn't notice it until the
other night. I guess I better dilute it only with DW as per Ole Bob's
recommendation. When my sinuses clog up in the middle of the night I become a
mouth
breather and I wake up and drink a lot of water. I thought that adding CS to
the water might be a good idea. I should probably rethink my protocol.

Best wishes,

You CANNOT use tap waterfor mixing with CS. There are too many

Use only RO or DW for mixing with CS!!

 Steve

Steve: I am unfamiliar with the properties of DMSO except that I know it is
an extremely good solvent and has an affinity with water. The heat generation
and volume decrease upon mixing is probably similar to what happens when
water and sulfuric acid are mixed together. First, there is a hydration
reaction that releases quite a bit of heat. This reaction is cause by the
rearrangement of the water and sulfuric acid molecules which not only
releases heat, but also creates a greater atomic density of the new molecules
and ions, thus reducing the overall volume of the final solution. Roger

This is normal, mixing water and DMSO is an exothermic reaction:

http://bcn.net/~stoll/archives/dmso/15683.html

Chemically DMSO is a small molecule that is VERY reactive. In other words it
gloms onto other molecules and can change their bioavailability (increase or
decrease) radically (strong caution here for anyone concommitantly taking any
other medication). I'm sure that you've noticed the strong exothermic reaction
that takes place when adding water to a fairly pure DMSO solution. The above
properties are what make it an interesting 'carrier' molecule. They are the same
properties, chemically speaking, that might make it an effective
anti-oxidant/free radical scavenger (the problem would be that it is SO reactive
that the free radical would almost have to be the first molecule the DMSO sees).

http://www.edelsoncenter.com/dmso.htm

An exothermic reaction occurs when DMSO is diluted with water (heat is
generated).

This would be 51 VDC, virtually the same as the telephone generator I am
  testing.

I used no saline. Added about 1 oz CS from a previous batch. ( 16 oz
  batch )

The color is lemon, or pale yellow and tastes bitter. The time on this
  batch was about 3.5 hours.

After determining that the batch was ok, ( or so I thought ) I used a four
ounce bottle and mixed 50-50 with DMSO for a fungicide treatment to be used
  for toenail fungus.

Even thru the brown bottle, I could see strange things happening. Plus a
  noticable warming effect was noticed.
The bottle did not get hot, but it was more than slightly warm. Medium
  warm, but not hot.

After a time, it cooled off.

The bottle was a 4 ounce dropper bottle with the rubber bulb. No glass or
plastic dropper tube was installed in the rubber bulb. The bottle was
  about 90% full.

12 hours later, the bottle was about 20 % full. The top was screwed on
  with a reasonable tension.

Can anyone offer and facts as to what happened?

I have 16 ounces of the CS and more of the DMSO. Should I see if this will
  happen again?

The strange things happening are probably differences in the diffraction
index to light of the fluids as they mixed, giving the appearance of swirls
and vortices.

Wayne,
A characteristic of DMSO is that it gives off heat when diluted with
water. I can't explain the loss of volume.

Tony

I just mixed a 50-50 solution of DMSO and CS, and got the same warming effect.
My CS was clear and the resultant solution was clear.
