I think the previous version did not have this problem I can recieve over 30 emails when I sign on... I know very well my accept list of people.. anything else I junk period... this malfunction in seamonkey stress's me I really really hope you can address these tiny problems for me... Don't mark spam with the preview pane open. You can select all the junk messages at once from the list and junk them all in one swell foop by hitting m (mark as read), j (mark as junk), and they should all jump to the junk folder at once, leaving you with a list of good messages. Then restore the preview pane and go on with your life. Sorry for MS terminology preview pane, don't know what else to call it, the window that shows the message content instead of just the subject, sender, etc. The point is, you don't have to OPEN junk to trash it. Don't get mail when I open the browser
In previous versions/editions of SM email would not be retrieved until I started the email program. In 2.0 mail is loaded when I start the browser. This might not seem to be a problem but let me explain. I have a laptop that I use when I travel. This week I started it to install new software from the web and update XP, etc. Email was retrieved while I was browsing. Now when I returned to my base system the email was no longer retrieved because SM thought was already read. Only the header info is actually downloaded to your computer unless you download to read offline. You actually read Newsgroup messages directly from the news server. If it was done otherwise the first one that downloaded the messages would remove the messages from the server. I'm working with Mac OS 10.6.2, and SM 1.1.18. If I shut down Inbox and Home Account, then SeaMonkey, and after 10 seconds or so, reopen each folder, my messages revert to actual ~ 5 and 828. Soon, it reverts (as I move from folder to folder, and visit URLs on the 'net, then return to Inbox. It's never done this before. Hello again, Well that was an experience... I received 46 emails back ( counting) , not all regarding my 2 little problems but I got the idea how to fix them. As suggested by 3% of the responses , I have gone back to ver 1118. I must tell you that was an experience as well. Seamonkey 2 would not uninstall. I have been on computers since the main frame days so don't ask me if I tryied this or that. I did. I keep deltree and microscope around for the stubborn. I literally ended up just deleting the directory. Thankfully, the reinstall of sm ver 1118 was painless. Now could I ask how to stop the countless emails from the sm community ? Not that I don't appreciate their input, I do, just not anymore. I think he is still old IE but not sure...what options should I click... how is he able to send a one way only email second... I get spam... I use the spam filter... but it only lets me subjegate one spam out. then seamonk opens the next email duh spamhope you understand , seamonk should not jump into the email until I have finished killing spam.. I think the previous version did not have this problem I can recieve over 30 emails when I sign on... Problem is they drop support and updates on 1.1.8 as soon as 2 went gold. so if there are any security problems, it won't be updated. Yes 2.0 crashed more for me, than the 1 series did for me in about 5 years. But usually it will the first two versions after a major release that everything settles down. I miss the forms Manager and the old downloads Manager but I've found extensions that work around those _defects_. I am happy about one fix for a bug that's been around since SM 1.1. I save copies of a lot of emails and in Mac version you could hit command-S to bring up save as window. Then hit command-S again and it would save the file. That was broke in 1.1 and no offer was made to fix it even though it was documented. Happy to report That that bug has been removed in Version 2.0 at long last. (Mac version). Even now reading newsgroups post suddenly become read as soon as I click on the group It should not be marked as read until click on it. Besides the Mozilla newsgroups it does it in secnews.netscape, Annexcafe, and msnews.microsoft (follow groups associated with MS Office Mac). when you click on the server there might be 20 unread messages showing. as soon as you actually click on the individual newsgroup it will suddenly jump 10. Slooooow Seamonkey Mail
Conditions 1) Please only Linux/Unix users reply as this is likely a Unix specific problem. 2) Seamonkey called from terminals by user through SSH, runs on server. 3) Also, some of my mail accounts are reaching the 2GB limit, but I checked to see that the filesystem is 2GB capable. 4) Using SeaMonkey 1.1.17 for all users accross all servers (as SM-2 is really a painful experience.) Problem: Seamonkey mail is fast for other user accounts, very slow for this one user account. I traced the problem to spurious accounts named news and news-1, created as a result of bug #41133. See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41133#c8. This bug is open in Tbird 2.0.0.23 and is not marked as closed for Tbird 3.0. Since the Mail/News component of SeaMonkey 2.0 is based on the MailNews Core for pending Tbird 3.0, I suspect this problem exists in SeaMonkey 2.0. It appears that no effort is being made to close this bug. Getting rid of spurious accounts is a bother. First, I use Tbird (you would use SeaMonkey) to delete the account with the Account Settings window. Then I shut down Tbird and go to its profile. There, I delete the folders for the accounts and the .rc and .msf files for the accounts. Today, while I was no longer being requested for a user ID and password, I still saw a spurious account in my list of accounts. SM 2.0 mailnews Password issues
Ran into an interesting problem today; ATT (my isp) had issues with their email server today. I opened up SM 2.0 (linux) and found that all but one account (this one) were working. I couldn't send msgs, couldn't receive msgs etc. I couldn not even log on to the ATT webmail. So... I bit the bullet called the tech support. After over nearly 2 hours messing about, I finally got 2nd tier ATT tech support (USA) they reset the password. Tested; I could log in via webmail, I could send receive via SM 2.0. All seemed OK. Then later this evening I noticed that I could receive from this account, but when I tried to send a msg I got: Sending of message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server smtp.att.yahoo.com was lost in the middle of the transaction. Try again or contact your network administrator. Again, all other email accounts worked just fine (this email addy is a sub account of my main account the other 5 sub accounts were working). I got 2nd tier support on the line again tested with Windows, tested with Opera, tested with another linux machine w/same SM 2.0, tested with 1.1.18; all no go. It wasn't until the 2nd tier got another level to reset the account again that it started working. But... it was only working on a SM 1.1.18 and still not on 2.0. What I found out is that, for whatever reason, the SM 2.0's (on multiple machines) would not work (for this account) *until* I deleted all of the passwords, including the smtp password, and then restart. After that SM 2.0 on all the machines started working again (of course after re-entering the passwords at the revieve send prompts). During the tests I had both 1.1.18 and 2.0 and 2.0pre up on dual machines, including 2.0 on a Win2K virtual machine. It was *only* after I deleted the passwords following the email reset on the isp side that 2.0 would allow me to send again. So it appears that there is something in the 2.0 password routine that gets stuck when it gets a refused password or error from the isp side. I'm not sure how to test further. ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

But 2.0 is out of my Class . So how does one Get rid of this So called SPOOF ? Deep breath myself. Look at the User Agent string you posted in response to David's request. Its above, but here it is again: SeaMonkey 1.1.18 Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.23) Gecko/20090825 *Firefox/2.0.0.7* *Emphasis mine.* You have your 1.1.18 profile reporting that it is Firefox 2.0.07 on Windows XP, instead of SeaMonkey 1.1.18 on Windows XP. The site's browser sniffer lets you in because it thinks you are using ff 2.0.0.7. That's called UA spoofing. The User Agent string is what is reported to the web site's server as the browser and OS you are using. At some time, you changed the User Agent string in SeaMonkey 1.1.18 to spoof FF 2.0.0.7, probably to fix a similar problem with another web site. You may not remember doing it, but clearly you did it at some time. This can be done manually in about:config, or by an extension, such as teh UA switcher. I don't know how you did it. Installing 2.0 caused SeaMonkey to report as what it actually is, SeaMonkey 2.0. If I spoof the 2.0 UA to report as FF 3.5, it works fine too. To tell users that going back to Sm 1.1.18 to *fix* this problem is totally incorrect. SM 1.1.18 with its proper user agent has exactly the same problem as SM 2.0. I understand your frustration over the Sm 2.0 upgrade. Still, it is unwise to simply post blanket *fixes* as you have done tonight. Its not always correct, indeed often wrong, and its not helpsing users to solve 2.0 problems. Thanks for that I'll set one up as I reckon that the ATT/Yahoo radius servers will probably have issues again. Gary Works. What I did was modify the seamonkey shell script with: #uncomment for debugging #set -x # keep a log # For bash shell (the default shell on most GNU/Linux systems): export NSPR_LOG_MODULES=smtp:5 export NSPR_LOG_FILE=/home/myusername/SeaMonkey2pre/seamonkey/smtp.log #export NSPR_LOG_MODULES=pop3:5 #export NSPR_LOG_FILE=/home/myusername/SeaMonkey2pre/seamonkey/pop3.log 1. I set the path for where I run SM from in my home folder so that I can easily copy/delete etc rather than having to mess with the /tmp root folder. 2. I added commented out the pop3 variables as those logs get rather large, but can easily uncomment if having pop3 issues. Thanks again Harmut; I'll be prepared next time :-) ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey
