Google: Chrome is the only modern browser
Did anybody else feel a bit offended by today's Google Doodle, the one featuring the Moog? Look at the line below the Doodle, suggesting that you upgrade to a modern browser. I never see Google's doodles these days, having created a static customised version of an old Google page and now using that as my start page for every session. Extension.rdf modify safely?
I have been a long-standing user of the Mozilla/SM suite. Current user/agent string: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:12.0) Gecko/20120429 Firefox/12.0 SeaMonkey/2.9.1 Since upgrading from 2.7.1 thru 2.8 and now to 2.9.1, I've experienced a problem with some purchasing thru Amazon.co.uk, most specifically their MP3 download center. Everything works normally until I go to the checkout screen--page appears to load with lots of activity messages flashing at the bottom of the SM browser window, and when the page is done loading I'm left with a completely blank white page. On my wife's laptop with exactly the same theme, plugins and extensions installed on a Win7 SP1 OS, the same page works as expected. I've attempted to track down the offending piece of my profile by disabling all add-on modules and even the internal Chatzilla, DOM Inspector and Javascript debugger, intending to start turning them back on one at a time to find the culprit, but it does the same thing no matter what. I have created a new test profile with nothing extra installed, and it works. Rather than going thru the (painful!) process of migrating my profile (yet again, done it a few times since 2.0 came out, lost things in the process), I'd like to track down what may be the reason behind this. Had a look thru all the text-based files in the root of the 'damaged' profile and the one thing I suspect is the extensions.RDF file--there are instances of info related to extensions that used to work but have been dropped/uninstalled over time that I want to clear out. Can this be done without making the profile unusable? Or can I simply delete the file with SM shut down and expect it to rebuild at next startup? Or better yet, can anyone recommend a better place to look? ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

Re: Google: Chrome is the only modern browser
chicagofan wrote: Jim Taylor wrote: MCBastos wrote: Did anybody else feel a bit offended by today's Google Doodle, the one featuring the Moog? Look at the line below the Doodle, suggesting that you upgrade to a modern browser. Thing is, the line will appear in every browser except Chrome and its derivatives (it didn't show in Iron, which is basically Chrome-minus-the-spying). Well, at least it did show up in latest-release-version Seamonkey, Firefox, Opera and IE. I don't have Safari here. I'm more concerned that although it showed up in SeaMonkey 2.9.1 it didn't work (couldn't change the controls or play it). It did work with IE 9. Maybe it's something with my configuration, can anybody else get it to play with SeaMonkey? Jim You had better luck than I did. I didn't even get a Moog image period just a blank. However, I did get the message about what I was missing without Chrome. :) bj Worked just fine with SM 2.9.1 on WinXP SP3 for me. The only thing I saw about Chrome was a button to download it... nothing about it being the only modern browser. -- Jaime A. Seamonkey 2.9.1 Keeps Asking Me to Compact Messages
Hi. This prompt occurs when I first open SM and attempt to delete an email message. Once I click cancel I can delete messages with no further prompts until I reopen SM. My inbox is not very large, only around 300 messages or so and I compact regularly. Under storage my setting is at 10 MB. Does anyone know why this is happening? ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

Re: New Enhanced Priority Display add-on
MCBastos myemail@example.invalid writes: Interviewed by CNN on 23/05/2012 17:15, MCBastos told the world: Uhhh... while this is a neat UI improvement, do the priority flags mean anything nowadays? I see so much misuse of them (*spam* marked high priority! And some people mark *all* messages high priority...) that I simply hide the column. I'm under the impression that mail servers have also ignored these flags for a long, long time... Thanks to bogofilter and Spamhaus, I see well under 1% of the spam which people attempt to put into my mailbox, so I don't really care whether spammers abuse the Priority field. I don't find that non-spammers abuse it all that much. I don't think most people mark *all* messages 'high priority', although I agree that those who do are rude. In short, I find it useful to be able to see the priorities my correspondents have marked messages with, so I find the add-on useful. Your mileage may vary, of course. This is a feature that many people have asked for over the years here, on MozillaZine, and on GetSatisfaction.com, so it's clearly something that some people want. Jonathan, if you manage to figure out an easy way to CHANGE the priority flag of a RECEIVED message, that would be FANTASTICALLY USEFUL! There's already an add-on that supports this: https://addons.mozilla.org/thunderbird/addon/priority-switcher/ ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

Re: Extension.rdf modify safely?

Just delete it. It will be rebuilt. Phil Thanks Phil, but no, it didn't rebuild. I've stopped/restarted SM several times since deleting the file with SM not running, and it's not re-creating it. But even with that file missing, it's not changed the original problem at all. On newer SeaMonkey's extensions.rdf isn't used and is probably a left over.
