The use every time check box refers to the cookie permission rule
and not to the cookie itself.

When you have cookie expiration set to ask for each cookie, a prompt
box appears every time a site tries to set a cookie. There are three
buttons to choose from.

1. allow
2. allow for session
3. block

There is also a check box use my choice for all cookies from this site

If you check the use my choice for all cookies from this site check
box, a rule is created in the data manager under the domain that
attempted to set the cookie. If you select allow and use for all,
you will never get asked again. Every time you go to that site, the rule
is applied instead of prompting you for what to do. If you look in your
cookie manager, you will find hundreds of rules for domains. Most of
these are set to block a site from setting cookies.

It is these rules that seem to be Disappearing. If I close SM and open
it again, when I open my browser I find no cookie rule for the google
domain what so ever. There is a never save passwords rule, but nothing
for cookies. If I go to google and select allow for session and use
for all, there will be an entry in the cookie manager showing this
rule. If I close SM and open again, the rule is gone and I have to
manually set the cookie permissions for google again.

This is absolutely new behavior. I have been using SM since it was
mozilla, and ever since session cookies were introduced, I have been
doing things more or less the same way.

Even if I manually add a rule in the data manager, it is not there after
I close and reopen SM. It is the cookies that expire at the end of the
session, not the rules you create for cookie permissions.

LMH, the only thing (to me) then is that your changes are not being
saved!! Could you check to see if some file in your set-up/profile is
set to Read Only?? Maybe Prefs.js or thereabouts!!

I checked the Prefs.js file and it is not set to read only. Below is the
ls -l of the profile directory (from cygwin). There appears to be
read/write/execute for everything in this directory.

I'm leaning toward this being a bug in 2.14.

Snip file properties screen info

O.K., you've got me well and truly confused!!

When I look at your reply, in the header I see:-

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:17.0) Gecko/17.0 Firefox/17.0 SeaMonkey/2.14

Note the Windows NT 5.1, so I was expecting you are on Win (Vista, I
think), so to see a Linux type file properties screen info..guess
you're mugging you browser so it works with some sites!!

I've never considered this type of properties display, I normally just
use Konqueror or Dolphin to examine file properties!!

Is this screen telling me that you, as user, do not have read and/or
write access to prefs.js and you, as user, don't have write access
to places.sqlite??

If so, there's your problem!!

Windows XP SP3
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:17.0) Gecko/17.0 SeaMonkey/2.14

Since installing SeaMonkey 2.14, I have noticed that new Web shortcuts
have a bad icon. Instead of the dark blue disc with the light blue
critter, it's the unknown file type icon. I get this when I drag
from
the address area (URI bar) either to my desktop or into an open folder.

Is this a known bug?

Try reselect Seamonkey 2.14 as your default browser via Windows and
see if that fixes it.

With SeaMonkey closed, I made IE my default browser. Then I launched
SeaMonkey and made it my default browser. That did not help.

I finally opened My Computer, selected [Tools Folder Options] on the
menu bar, and selected the File Types tab. Near the top of the list of
file types, Internet Shortcut already had the blue SeaMonkey icon. But
near the bottom of the list I found the file type URL with the unknown
icon. I could not correct this until I deleted it entirely and then
recreated it as a new file type. Now it works.

Since I had not touched Folder Options in some time, I still question
whether something in the installation of SeaMonkey 2.14 might have
corrupted the icon setting.

I see you are on WinXP. I vaguely recall having problems like that on
that OS (and having to manually override the setting like you mentioned)
but it's been two OS's back and my recollection of the quirks in XPs all
seem to dim with every passing day. Now I'm saddled with all the quirks
on Win7 :)

It's good to read you found a solution.

Cheers

When I made a desktop link for my SM 2.14 on my Linux desktop, it also
showed up as a generic icon!! I thought it might have been because I
installed it as user, rather than as admin!

LastPass Extension Removed

Anyone know if this data is lost.

Edit | Preferences | Advanced | Software Installation

In the bottom half of the pane, under SeaMonkey, uncheck
Automatically check for updates. If it doesn't check, it won't install
anything.

If you want to be warned of new versions without having them installed,
you can leave the first box checked but uncheck Automatically download
and install the update. Then you will get a popup dialog nagging you to
install the update, and you can respond as you see fit. There are
options to install or to nag you later, and IIRC there's also one to
quit nagging.

Address book email

2012-11-30 Thread VH Goding (FS 119)
I'm running SeaMonkey vs 2.3, as auto updated, on a HP 8710p with Win XP SP-2.
The hard drive had to be replaced and I couldn't restore from my Retrospect
backups. I did have the SeaMonkey section of the Documents and settings files
individually backed up.

On my Win 2000 Pro computer I had to do the same and and all worked fine. This
time I recopied the entire SeaMonkey to the DS, as before, but it didn't
function at all and had to re-install from the original downloaded file. Didn't
work and have had to rebuild it manually.

The only thing that worked was to Bookmark portion. I have tried everything I
can think of to get the Address Book and saved email to restore with no success.
I have the files available but can't import them in anyway from back up or other
SeaMonkey versions. Oh for the Netscape that worked!!

My automatic update has failed to complete

2012-11-30 Thread John Eyre

Hi,

I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 32bit in an Acer Aspire One 522 netbook with
AMD C-50 Processor × 2.

The latest automatic upgrade to SeaMonkey 2.4.1 has failed to complete
correctly such that my launch icon with command
/home/john/seamonkey/seamonkey/seamonkey does not work at all.

Command seamonkey in Terminal produces these 4 lines:
(seamonkey-bin:1799): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in
module_path: pixmap,

(seamonkey-bin:1799): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in

module_path: pixmap,

(seamonkey-bin:1799): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in
module_path: pixmap,
followed by a launch to
http://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/seamonkey2.4/ instead of a
launch displaying the pages I was browsing on my previous session.

Previous upgrades to earlier versions have completed successfully in the
past.

From my /home/seamonkey/seamonkey folder I am attaching file
active-update.xml dated yesterday when I was last forced to launch
SeaMonkey from a terminal command instead of from my now failing launch
icon.

I hope this information will be sufficient for you to indicate to me
what my next steps should be to try to recover from this malfunction.
Since my knowledge and experience is limited, I would appreciate
step-by-step instructions rather than a general explanation which might
be hard to understand.

Thanks in advance for any help.

problem with history and restore previous session

Restore last session is simply not working.

As there no hot key provided to toggle source/text, I am no longer able to

Nor am I able to see if the problem is on seamonkey's side, or one.com side.

May I request your help?

I Don't Understand SeaMonkey AT ALL

2012-11-30 Thread Tommie Gull
I don't understand SeaMonkey AT ALL.

When my main laptop failed I had to start using my netbook and external
hard drive for everything.  First I got fed up with the diminished
window in the trial versions of Microsoft Word and Excel 2010 that came
with the netbook, then I realized I didn't want to pay big bucks for
programs I didn't even like, and then I realized my Microsoft Works
calendar was on the laptop with no way to get to it.

I downloaded Apache OpenOffice and sent a message asking if they had a
calendar or were developing one.  Someone replied no to both and
mentioned he used Lightening.  I wasn't familiar with it so I looked it
up online and read that SeaMonkey's calendar had resolved problems that
Lightening had, so I downloaded SeaMonkey and looked at add-ons to find
the calendar.  I looked around and around and around and finally had to
do a net search to find instructions on another site for getting the
calendar.  But even though the set up wizard asked if I wanted the
calendar on my computer or on a network, and I chose computer, and the
set up wizard told me twice the calendar had been created I still
couldn't find the calendar on my computer - not on the external hard
drive or the netbook's hard drive.

I figured maybe the problem was that I didn't have an e-mail account set
up with SeaMonkey.  I established a Yahoo account to use exclusively
with Mozilla related matters, tried the calendar on my computer thing
again and still can't find it, though it's the third time I've been told
the calendar has been created.

But aside from the calendar and e-mail problems I say that I don't
understand SeaMonkey at all because of all the time I continue to waste
going around and around and around your website trying to find pages
that I know I looked at before but can't find again.  If you think
SeaMonkey is user friendly, it isn't.

And, in addition to that, the only reason I established this Yahoo address is
because I thought I needed it to link a calendar to SeaMonkey email, and I
can't even get your email service to work, so I still had to go to the Yahoo
site and do a copy paste to send this message.  I do, however, give applause
for the message not being erased when your e-mail service failed to send it.

Thunderbird Firefox upgrade methodology

2012-11-30 Thread Paul Myers
Just a very quick question: As SeaMonkey, Thunderbird and Firefox are
cousins, all being Mozilla Project software products, why doesn't
SeaMonkey also use the same methodology for applying upgrades to a
user's computer as that used on the other programs listed here? That
is, an automatic mode which checks the existing version and asks whether
the user wishes to upgrade there and then or at a later time, as well as
providing an option in the About ... dialog of the Help menu as
provided in the other two programs.

Thanks,

Paul Myers

Migrating Mail from XP32 system to Win 7 Pro system

2012-11-30 Thread adringenberg

Dear Sirs:

I recently built a new system (ASUS P8H67, i5, Win 7 Pro64, 6MB WD SATA)
and can't find an easy way to migrate the mail files from my XP32
system. Both are running the current version of SeaMonkey. I copied
Seamonkey from the XP to the Win 7 Program files\i386 folder, but it
didn't activate very gracefully. I already have a dozen messages on the
Win 7 system.

On the XP system, the path is
C:\Users\al_mail\Profiles\allen\0hd3gh9q.slt\Mail\pop.mindspring.com\Inbox.sbd

On the Win 7 system the path is
C:\Users\Allen\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\SeaMonkey\Profiles\rba403vq.default\Mail\mail.mindspring.com

What is the best way to do this?

Regards,

SeaMonkey

2012-11-30 Thread BRIGAUD Jacques

Hello

I recently downoad Sea Monkey on my Power PC G5 under MAC OSX 10.5.8
because that was a good software to replace my Firefox software which
was no more available for this computer and for this OS version.
I was very happy to found a software with recent update which can be
used on my computer.

But now with this new version 2.14, it is no more possible for me to
have your latest version because you decided to request MAX OSX10.6 or
later. Out 10.5 and lower.

So i will not be able to upgrade this software.

In fact you are like FireFox developper: It is no more interested to
you to not support old computer, old os .

Then i have one question: What is better in your software than Firefox
don't have?

i i will subscribe to your mailling list because if you have some
restriction, me too!

Best regards

Hi Yaakov,

Sorry you ran into trouble. It looks as though this may have been a one-time
engineering bug. Would it be possible for you to try again after clearing your
cache and cookies?

If you still encounter problems, any additional information you can provide will help us help you- a screenshot of the error you're seeing might provide some insight. You can also send us the custom link generated at https://aboutmybrowser.com, which
would help us determine if you're encountering a browser-specific issue.

Hello fellow puppy linux user.

In the preferences of SeaMonkey, helper applications, you have to configure
the one you use.
For OpenOffice/LibrOffice swriter, for AbiWord abiword

If you are using the standard version of LibreOffice (non-distro), the
plugin is included in the .deb rpm install:

/opt/libreoffice3.6/program/libnpsoplugin.so

In that case, open LO: Tools|Options|Internet|Browser Plug-in: Display
documents in browser

For Ubuntu/Debian distro versions install 'mozilla-libreoffice' which
installs the same plugin:

http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise/i386/mozilla-libreoffice/filelist
/usr/lib/libreoffice/program/libnpsoplugin.so
/usr/lib/libreoffice/program/nsplugin
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libnpsoplugin.so
Thanks for highlighting the plugin way, but I don't know if it is this what the
OP has in mind.
I have some problems with the concept to use a browser as displaying vehicle.
To see a pdf document referenced in a link, the helper application I use is
epdfview.
I can read then and eventually save a copy.

Changing the font, and font size

2012-11-30 Thread ejt

Dear Support,

How does one change the font and font size for the mail in box, or
other mail boxes?

Try as I might, search the preferences, there is no option available to accomplish that, and I'm
stuck with the smallest font making it extremely difficult to read the text.

I can change the font on composition page, but not the mailbox itself.

When I read the mail I have to resort to using 'zoom' feature under the 'View' menu, but that
feature doesn't work for the mail boxes themselves.

I tried searching for an answer using the various forums, but the
problem is not addressed.

Computer: MacBook Pro
OS: OSX 10.8.2
SeaMonkey version: 2.13.2

Thanks in advance for your time,

ET

The partially drawn dialog drop-downs (like for Master Password) in teh
SM Modern Theme aren't fixed...at least they aren't fixed for the Mac
version.

I don't see it mentioned in
http://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/seamonkey2.14/changes so it is
probably not fixed. Is there a reported bug number for it in Bugzilla to
check its status?

I though it might have been the Information failed to show on the
message header pane under certain circumstances listing, but obviously not.

I should probably write a specific bug, not really sure why it should
have broken in the first place - the dialogs haven't been changed at all.

Still happy with 2.13.2.
