Re: question about sessions, cookies, and permissions

If you select allow and use for all, you will never get asked again. Every time you go to that site, the rule is applied instead of prompting you for what to do. If you look in your cookie manager, you will find hundreds of rules for domains. Most of these are set to block a site from setting cookies. It is these rules that seem to be Disappearing. If I close SM and open it again, when I open my browser I find no cookie rule for the google domain what so ever. There is a never save passwords rule, but nothing for cookies. If I go to google and select allow for session and use for all, there will be an entry in the cookie manager showing this rule. If I close SM and open again, the rule is gone and I have to manually set the cookie permissions for google again. This is absolutely new behavior. I have been using SM since it was mozilla, and ever since session cookies were introduced, I have been doing things more or less the same way. Even if I manually add a rule in the data manager, it is not there after I close and reopen SM. It is the cookies that expire at the end of the session, not the rules you create for cookie permissions. LMH LMH, the only thing (to me) then is that your changes are not being saved!! Could you check to see if some file in your set-up/profile is set to Read Only?? Maybe Prefs.js or thereabouts!! I checked the Prefs.js file and it is not set to read only. Below is the ls -l of the profile directory (from cygwin). There appears to be read/write/execute for everything in this directory. I'm leaning toward this being a bug in 2.14. LMH Snip file properties screen info O.K., you've got me well and truly confused!! I've never considered this type of properties display, I normally just use Konqueror or Dolphin to examine file properties!! Instead of the dark blue disc with the light blue critter, it's the unknown file type icon. I get this when I drag from the address area (URI bar) either to my desktop or into an open folder. Is this a known bug? Try reselect Seamonkey 2.14 as your default browser via Windows and see if that fixes it. With SeaMonkey closed, I made IE my default browser. Then I launched SeaMonkey and made it my default browser. That did not help. I finally opened My Computer, selected [Tools Folder Options] on the menu bar, and selected the File Types tab. Near the top of the list of file types, Internet Shortcut already had the blue SeaMonkey icon. But near the bottom of the list I found the file type URL with the unknown icon. I could not correct this until I deleted it entirely and then recreated it as a new file type. Now it works. Since I had not touched Folder Options in some time, I still question whether something in the installation of SeaMonkey 2.14 might have corrupted the icon setting. I see you are on WinXP. I vaguely recall having problems like that on that OS (and having to manually override the setting like you mentioned) but it's been two OS's back and my recollection of the quirks in XPs all seem to dim with every passing day. Now I'm saddled with all the quirks on Win7 :) It's good to read you found a solution. Cheers When I made a desktop link for my SM 2.14 on my Linux desktop, it also showed up as a generic icon!! Address book email
I'm running SeaMonkey vs 2.3, as auto updated, on a HP 8710p with Win XP SP-2. The hard drive had to be replaced and I couldn't restore from my Retrospect backups. I did have the SeaMonkey section of the Documents and settings files individually backed up. On my Win 2000 Pro computer I had to do the same and and all worked fine. This time I recopied the entire SeaMonkey to the DS, as before, but it didn't function at all and had to re-install from the original downloaded file. Didn't work and have had to rebuild it manually. The only thing that worked was to Bookmark portion. I have tried everything I can think of to get the Address Book and saved email to restore with no success. I have the files available but can't import them in anyway from back up or other SeaMonkey versions. Oh for the Netscape that worked!! Vern H. From my /home/seamonkey/seamonkey folder I am attaching file active-update.xml dated yesterday when I was last forced to launch SeaMonkey from a terminal command instead of from my now failing launch icon. I Don't Understand SeaMonkey AT ALL
I don't understand SeaMonkey AT ALL. When my main laptop failed I had to start using my netbook and external hard drive for everything. First I got fed up with the diminished window in the trial versions of Microsoft Word and Excel 2010 that came with the netbook, then I realized I didn't want to pay big bucks for programs I didn't even like, and then I realized my Microsoft Works calendar was on the laptop with no way to get to it. I downloaded Apache OpenOffice and sent a message asking if they had a calendar or were developing one. Someone replied no to both and mentioned he used Lightening. I wasn't familiar with it so I looked it up online and read that SeaMonkey's calendar had resolved problems that Lightening had, so I downloaded SeaMonkey and looked at add-ons to find the calendar. I looked around and around and around and finally had to do a net search to find instructions on another site for getting the calendar. But even though the set up wizard asked if I wanted the calendar on my computer or on a network, and I chose computer, and the set up wizard told me twice the calendar had been created I still couldn't find the calendar on my computer - not on the external hard drive or the netbook's hard drive. I figured maybe the problem was that I didn't have an e-mail account set up with SeaMonkey. I established a Yahoo account to use exclusively with Mozilla related matters, tried the calendar on my computer thing again and still can't find it, though it's the third time I've been told the calendar has been created. But aside from the calendar and e-mail problems I say that I don't understand SeaMonkey at all because of all the time I continue to waste going around and around and around your website trying to find pages that I know I looked at before but can't find again. If you think SeaMonkey is user friendly, it isn't. And, in addition to that, the only reason I established this Yahoo address is because I thought I needed it to link a calendar to SeaMonkey email, and I can't even get your email service to work, so I still had to go to the Yahoo site and do a copy paste to send this message. I do, however, give applause for the message not being erased when your e-mail service failed to send it. ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

Changing the font, and font size
Dear Support, How does one change the font and font size for the mail in box, or other mail boxes? Try as I might, search the preferences, there is no option available to accomplish that, and I'm stuck with the smallest font making it extremely difficult to read the text. I can change the font on composition page, but not the mailbox itself. When I read the mail I have to resort to using 'zoom' feature under the 'View' menu, but that feature doesn't work for the mail boxes themselves. I tried searching for an answer using the various forums, but the problem is not addressed.
