[Talk-transit] Status on Public Service Vehicle (PSV) vs busway scheme for bus lanes
I've known about the busway=opposite_lane tag for a year or two and used it. The bus lanes wiki page mentions a broader alternative, the PSV scheme. For a bus routing application, we need to know which scheme to support. Busway is probably more widely used, so it makes sense to support it for compatibility reasons. Nevertheless, the buses talk page argues against busway while referring to the approved Public Transport Schema. Public Transport Schema does not seem to include tagging for exclusive bus lanes. I also have no data on whether if anybody is adopting the PSV scheme for buses. Would somebody like to chime in on the matter?___ Talk-transit mailing list Talk-transit@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-transit

I think Project NOAH also had an OSM mapping event or workshop in Davao around 2 weeks ago based on the flood of changesets with #NOAH in Davao. Re: [OSM-talk-ie] Talk-ie Digest, Vol 65, Issue 1
Hi Dave, Personally I love this idea. I've only been doing some local editing of areas I know using the iD OpenStreetMap editor. I found the tradition tools like JOSM a bit to much of a learning curve and I don't have the time and attention to read all of what's in the wiki to be a good mapper. I'd much more welcome some mapping meetups to learn hands on from more experienced mappers. I have recently been thinking about access to historical maps. The OSI has good historical maps which have to be out of copyright by now but I don't get the impression they are open to collaborating with OSM or giving us access to those maps to use as tiles. It's a shame the only historical tiles we seem to have of Ireland on OSM comes from a British University. I have also wanted to contact the likes of Dublin Bus to ask them for the GPS locations of all their bus stops so we can map all of them with accurate date such as bus stop number and routes served. They have to have this GPS data because they are essentially overlaying this data on Google Maps on there own website. I'd also like to see the Transport for Ireland Journey Planner use our OSM maps rather than their maps, as their maps are very low on detail. But in the end I felt these companies would probably just ignore such a request from an individual. So an establish OSM Ireland organisation would be perfect to act in this regard. All of the points you mentioned, I agree with and at the least it might be worth meeting up either AFK or in IRC/Google Hangouts. I also think there are great opportunities to collaborate with the other open data organisations in Ireland and with Wikimedia Ireland https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Ireland_Community. I am still quit new OSM editing and know nothing about the OSM Ireland community so I am very interested to see how this develops. A few reasons off the top of my head why I'd like to push ahead with this: - We will have representatives who can speak with authority to the press if required. - The Open data / Open Government movement has been steadily growing over the last 18-24 months here. Every event I've been to, at some point, I've had to utter the line well at the moment we are just a group of people editing on OSM, there is no Openstreetmap Ireland. Given the volume of work and effort that people have put it, its embarrassing to say that line. - When we go looking for maps and/or data we are an actual entity. That lends weight to any requests we make. The further we take this in relation to what type of a body we are (non-incorporated, incorporated, recognised chapter of OSMF) - Further down the line, it opens up the possibility of getting funding / sponsorship. As it stands right now, companies are unlikely to give any significant kind of donation to us, ever, as they can not write it off as a donation because, essentially, we don't exist. I would like to - I would like to see us move up a gear in terms of organisation. What I mean by this is to take it to the next level in terms of meetup's, for example, a weekend meetup over a Sat Sun in, say, Athlone (its central and is in need of some love mapwise) where a load of us would meetup, survey and map. Re: [OSM-talk-ie] Formalising Openstreetmap Ireland into a proper body and becoming an official OSM Chapter
Hi, I did state one con, that there's a bit of work involved ;) but other than that I don't see there being any con's to this (I stand open to correction). What's the benefit of having our own entity as opposed to proxying behind the general OpenStreetMap world entity ? I possibly didn't explain it very well. To proxy as you put it, we have to be a formal entity in the first place. The Local Chapter Agreement was kicked back into gear and recently finalised. You can view the completed agreement here [1] This agreement, which would be signed by both our group and the OSMF and lends a weight of support behind us when we go to various govt. agencies looking for data and/or maps. What exactly is required to get the legal organisation going ? A treasurer and a president ? A bank account ? Recurring paperwork ? A postal address ? Do we want to set up board elections ? Membership fees ? Essentially, all of the above and more. It breaks into a few phases, first to get the organisation going, then later the legal status, but I wouldn't see us getting to the legal recognition for at least the first 2 years if not more as there are a number of other things to be completed first. Personally, this is how I would see things going. We would start out as an Unincorporated Association, the same as most sports clubs basically. The bare minimum we would need is a constitution and a membership. More info here [2] At this point we would have the structure in place to go further. By going further, I mean drafting and agreeing Memorandum Articles of Association. These would qualify us to put in a formal application to become an OSMF chapter. There are a few other bits needed (accounts etc.), but those are the 2 big ones and the ones hardest to put together. I spoke with Simon Poole this evening just to clarify this point and in his opinion once we're at this point in the process we would qualify to apply for local chapter status. As we have the work done (MoA AoA) the next step would be to apply for charitable status under the definition of other purposes beneficial to the community. There are a number of additional documents to be drawn up in addition to complete this, but the bulk will have been done at this stage from earlier activities. This would allow us to accept sponsorship for events (e.g. a company sponsoring the food at a hackathon), hardware donations (servers), donations in general etc. I hope this answers everything. If anyone else has any queries, feel free to share also. It would be good to hear more opinions on this, even if its just something as simple as yeah this sound good or hate this idea or etc. :) Thanks, Dave 1 - http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Foundation/Local_Chapters/Agreement 2 - http://www.wheel.ie/content/unincorporated-bodies On Thu, Oct 2, 2014 at 1:05 PM, moltonel 3x Combo molto...@gmail.com wrote: On 01/10/2014, Dave Corley davecor...@gmail.com wrote: Something I've been thinking about for a while now, is that we should look to forming into a proper entity i.e. an official OpenStreetMap Ireland chapter of OSM. Re: [OSM-talk-ie] Formalising Openstreetmap Ireland into a proper body and becoming an official OSM Chapter
Hi Stephen, Thanks for your support :) Just to answer some points you made: Regarding historical maps, I agree, but there are more sources than the OSi, e.g. local councils and universities being the 2 major ones. Regarding the bus stops, I think someone looked at this before. Transport for Ireland likely have this data and if I recall they were willing to release it to us but there may have been some issue with the data. I stand open to correction this of course, but I think that may be why something like this was not imported. Others on this list may have a better memory of it. Dave On Thu, Oct 2, 2014 at 7:24 PM, Stephen Judge stephenju...@gmail.com wrote: A rgh, I sent my reply from the wrong email address. Sorry if this goes out as a double post.

(2) Man erfasst ihn Fläche.
Re: [OSM-talk-fr] OSM Tracker
Je m'auto-réponds : http://opencamera.sourceforge.net/ Store location data (Geotagging) - If selected, then photos will be tagged with the current location, and compass direction (note that if Open Camera is called via another app, the compass direction won't be saved - this is only supported when Open Camera is run as a standalone app). If selected, then photos will be tagged with the current location, and compass direction (note that if Open Camera is called via another app, the compass direction won't be saved - this is only supported when Open Camera is run as a standalone app). Re: [OSM-talk-fr] OSM Tracker
