Yes, it works. I tried single messages and five messages in one rush.
All are saved as 00xx.EML.

>> but after that, creating a reply causes an AV that won't go away by

After opening one of the saved messages in TB!, creating a reply
brings up an alert: "External exception 8003". Clicking OK results
in "Acces violation at address 00BFEDEA in module 'thebat.exe'. Read
of address 0040."

IMAP - Messages have 0 size

2005-09-29 Thread Stuart Cuddy
Hello tbbeta,

I just read my e-mail this am using my IMAP account (I use a regular
pop account and an IMAP account to read list mail for testing
purposes). I had a group of messages that show up as having 0 for the
size and nothing in the message body. All the header info is there but
none of the body.

The same messages in the pop account show just fine. This is not a
good situation. This has not been happening except for today so maybe
it is an anomaly.

That option, although not exactly as you would like it, was introduced
several (many) versions ago.

While viewing a message, either in preview or view folder, right click
on message pane and select Message/Reply to all quoting selected text
from the context menu.

Thank you so very much for this information. I just tried it, using
your post--though I didn't send it using Reply-to-All, simply had a
look. And that method does indeed work.

Not quite so handy as a Shift-plus-Reply-button routine, or a Keyboard
Shortcut for the Keyboarders, but, still, quite serviceable.

I'm not sorry I wrote the BT report, though. I think the Reply-to-All
option should be made consistent with Reply, in so far as quoting
selected text is concerned, using the icons (buttons) on the toolbar
while holding down the Shift key.

For those who agree and would like to support my BT issue report, I'm
putting the link again:

I added a note on it. BTW: I remember there are macros doing that for
you. This would allow you to adapt those macros to your liking.

Another strange issue with the Echo 8: I get constant AVs on replying to
your message, so I reverted to Echo 7.

Those AVs as earlier reported for Reply and
Reply-quoting-selected-text? And many more situations?

So, drop back to .07--what a a great number, just shy of 007 (Sean

Or, stand it as long as you can, because surely beta .09 will be

Why would anyone select some text, and then use the reply function (any of

Really? How would a macro find out which text was selected? I mean... what
this wish is about is not select and then copy-to-clipboard, but simply
mark the text, hit reply, done.

I read so much about AVs in .8 that I didn't even bother to try it.

Does this happen only with my message?

Re: AVs using green arrow icon for Replies

2005-09-29 Thread Wolffe
Greetings BatPeople,

Same AV problem here.. yet a little different. I tried to reply to an
email I opened from the scrolling alert. But on trying to edit the
draft, I got constant AV just by moving the mouse in that window. I
had to open Task Manager and kill TB! in order to close the edit
session.

On restart I was able to reply via the green arrow reply icon from
the preview window without error.

For those getting the AVs are they from replying in the main
(preview) window, or a detached message view window?

For me, in both places.

When I started getting them with Send, also, I had to abandon .08 as

Never had this before 3.61.08 and with this new beta, entire folders had
only "empty" mails. It's no fun to click 250 times on "reload" - just as
an example for one of the affected folters.
But nothing else helped - no restart, no fodersynch, ...

Oops.. caught me. I thought I was referring to your other wish, the subject
cleaner. On a German site I read about it, one or two years ago.

Sorry, yes. I didn't want to reply to all postings just to find it out,
but answering to you is causing reproducible AVs. Others like Richard's and
Mary's were to reply to without a flaw. Some AVs only happen once,
others fill that gap and spoil the fun. Clicking on an icon ie or
highlighting a text to F4-it caused AVs. IMHO unusable.

Similar here, every fifth click caused an AV yesterday, and there is no
end. Replying to Alexander brought up even a cascade of "read of
address" so the task manager was my best friend. If this should go on, I
need a new keyboard, because the magic three keys "Ctrl Alt Del" are

Oh, I'm using that already (removing ä ö ü ß and AW and stuff when

That's what I did hours ago, the only things that seems to echo is the
sound of my mouseclicks when closing the AV-boxes...

> I dont know, why you guys are suffering with it :)))

Not only guys are suffering from it ;) but seriously: you mentioned a
constant slow TB recently, is this issue gone your place? I have huge
problems when running a refiltering. TB uses zero CPU power and consumes
about 40 megs RAM -and does nothing but locking me off from my machine.
Even Echo 7 isn't good, 3.02.20 was the best in the whole 3x cycle I'd
say.
Last night I refiltered 2500 mails, my filters contain two subfilters
and 12 regular ones. TB! didn't finish its work this morning so I had to
close it. A single click on [x] in the filter dialogue windows is
sufficient. I used 3.02.20 to filter it and it was fun to watch it
working. BTW: Echo 8 reported that it couldn't write in folder
C:\somewhat\temp and it took ages to get over it -I couldn't do
anything but reverting to a stable version, which besides I may state
were rarely if ever in 3x cycle.

Try the Refresh option on the entire folder. That helps sometimes.

Different versions

2005-09-29 Thread Stuart Cuddy
Hello tbbeta,

  Can someone provide me with a link to 3.61.01, 3.61.02, 3.61.03 &
3.61.04. I am trying to test IMAP on these as I think somewhere in
there it used to work not too bad. Newer betas are not so good.

This version 3.60.07 does not filter correctly at all.

No. It must be something local, because on the other two machine it is
not that obvious...

I agree with that based on the speed. v3.5 on my main PC (laptop) just
slows down after a while... But these message list tabs -for me- are
worth to use 3.61.

3.0.1.33 was ok :)

What bothers me is, when I quit from TB!, and my TB! is slowed down,
sometimes I just dont have the nerve to wait, so I kill it. I
guess, it happened with you, Charlene, when you refiltered your mail.
If it is because of memory leaks, or more and more threads (i.e.
time/priority for a thread -refilter- decreasing), I dont know.

I dont have plugins, I dont have Antivir software, spyware, nothing.
(however, I checked it with everything when it slowed down. But that
happenned exactly when I switched from 30133 to 350xxx.) Only a
ZoneAlarm protects my PC. So, then why the damn exit takes so long...
I dont compress mails at exit, either. Mystery for me. But, users tell
me, it is ok for them, so... It must be something local, I guess.

Finally: my spider sense :) says that the slowing down is correlated
to the download/send procedure. Charlene, you can try it. Do not
download mails, just start TB!, refilter. Dont use Auto check at every
5 min. It will be a fast refiltering...

Here you go Stuart. I have tried to keep up to date on this and am
missing a couple, but I do have the 1.03 and 1.04 that you need.

Hope this helps...

They aren't, and AVs I have had none. I meant it echoes still, but more
in mind. Echo 7 had no AVs so far, only the old issues keep echoing on
and on. Sorry for being misleading, Vili.

This will probably mess up the base, I noticed a remarkable slow down in
folder maintenance after killing TB. I unchecked three of four options
and had luck: one option at a time is good, more will overload in an
unknown way TB. It hangs at no CPU usage and eats my RAM.

Thank you, your help is welcome. I hope some developers read all this
and will be able to react.

My own spider sense told me to try the following: from 12 filters I
unchecked all but the first one and ran a refiltering procedure, then I
set #2 as only active filter and so on. This helped, too. But that's no
way to go with it for daily use. Only for testing it is acceptable. a
serious reworking in codeweaving is overdue.

Thank you for writing and being at hand, Vili :)

Can't change user name

2005-09-29 Thread Stuart Cuddy
Hello tbbeta,

I just received 3.61.01 and installed it to test IMAP. One of my
accounts (an IMAP account) has the user name [EMAIL PROTECTED]
but when I started this version it pops up a name change box wanting
me to fix account properties and it says [EMAIL PROTECTED] . I
went in the account properties and this is what it shows. I try to
change it back to registrar and it will not stick. Any idea what the
problem is and how to fix. I can change it to legistrar, but not back
to registrar.

It is a known problem with that beta. Upgrade.
