Hello ETM, It was foretold that on Sunday, December 2, 2001 at 02:48 GMT -0500, ETM [E] would type: E First hitch: Is OE 5.50 (not listed) exportable to TB? I think OE can export to .eml files, right? If so, then just rename the .eml files to .msg (I have a VBScript to automate the renaming process, let me know if you're interested.) You can import .msg files quite easily. E I know where the approximately 200 dbx files (about 3 Gig) are, I E cannot get the Mail Import Wizard to accept the location. Is it E because I am not yet working with a registered program or is it the E OE version? TB's trial is fully functional. It must be the OE version. You seem to deal with a lot of mail in archives. For that task, many people on another list swear by a program called Mailbag Assistant http://www.fookes.com/mailbag/index.html. It works with many mailers, including OE and TB. The list where I first heard about it is the Power Tools Software list on Yahoo groups. You can check out the webpage at http://www.tr1be.com/powertools/index.html The owner occasionally runs contests for members. You should ask him about this month's contest and promotions. -- Thanks for writing, Januk Aggarwal Using The Bat! 1.54 Beta/14 under Windows 98 4.10 Build 67766446 A Trigonometry for farmers: swine and cowswine. -- Erland G. -- Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Latest Vers: 1.53d FAQ: http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com

Some organizations seem to find it easier to compose a message as one large set of sliced graphics and / or objects. yet, as you say, the message body contains nothing in the way of content. This is something many of us wouldn't ever know had we never come across TB. The main thing I like about HTML messages are link formatting and structure. For instance, sending a rather lengthy link which contains strings like htm?view=01189432 at the end are troublesome for many e-mail clients. Of course, HTML formatted links don't share this problem. And even the best of tricks are not fool proof. The only decent solution is to set up a redirect link with a shorter URL for every link contained in a message. ECom newsletters considered, this can be a laborious task to say the least. In this way, I have had to make decisions to leave some content out of text-only versions while HTML versions are complete and as intended. Secondly, structure is important at least internally. I'm sure most of us have by now received a transaction receipt in text that is horribly wrapped. Some solid companies do their best to adjust for standard column lengths. But they never seem to work perfectly. While I wouldn't recommend sending customer invoices in HTML alone, I'd consider using the dual method. And I certainly share internal documents of this type with table structures via HTML. This is almost necessary due to some office members using 640 x 480 on 14 monitors. But these can't be confidential documents as encrypting HTML documents is a mystery to me. If the structure was formatted well, it might appear pretty much intact. 2) Alternatively, you could either forward the message or redirect it. Of course, you'd have to edit the to and from lines. But the HTML portion should be included as an attachment this way. Thereby, you could say something like, see attachment for original message. 3) There are other ways that would appear more 'normal' but they'd be too time consuming for just one message unless it was terribly important. Personally, I'd redirect the message to one of the e-mail accounts I use on Becky or Outlook and deal with it from there. But the same could be done with a hotmail account too. But there may be far better suggestions from others more knowledgeable than I. Hi all, I have a problem with sorting emails... i sort by Received time, so new ones are to the top, but since 2 days ago, i have noticed ALL new emails turning up about the middle of my Folder, ive tried to reset the sort position, but nothing seems to help. concerning distribution lists??
Bat List, Bat List, My search through the help files and the archives leaves me still a bit confused on this topic of setting up a simple mailing/distribution list. I'll start by first explaining what I would like to accomplish. I would like to be able to start typing a list name in the TO: field and have it autocomplete with the use of ctrl+. The question then becomes how to best set up this list. The help file mentions to go through the address book and add a new group name for the people you want on a list. I don't really like this way for several reasons (and please someone tell this newbie if I'm just screwing up and not configuring the stuff correctly). 1) The first problem is I want to have a default New template for the group list. However if I set this default new template for the group than it comes up even if I just select one of the list recipients that I want to send a single new email to. 2) I can't get autcomplete in the TO: field to select a distribution list. It will work if I first go to the address book and then right click on the group and start a new message that way because it will then have the TO list in the recently used addresses, but this doesn't seem like a decent way to handle the autocomplete 3) I also really don't like having a whole contact group name for a list of people in my address book (although it's not really that big of a deal). I have certain categories in the contacts like family, friends, wfu, coworkers, church, etc. But then I email a few friends in some of those groups that I email more frequently. Say for example some of my friends I took sports with on Monday. Sure I could create a whole sports or football group in my contacts but for some reason setting up a whole GROUP for every distribution list I want to set up doesn't really sit right with me. Usually the distribution/mailing list is a subgroup of a group which The Bat doesn't store subgroups in the contacts folder. The other way that I've found to set up a distribution list as almost perfect. Set up a contact with a name and then create a TO macro in the new message template with the addresses you want. This also allows for a custom creation of specific templates just for that list. Everything is perfect about this except for entering the addresses. How do I quickly enter the email addresses that I want to use in the TO macro without having to keep going over to the address book and cutting and pasting? It seems like there really should be an easier way to add the addresses to create a mailing list? Am I totally missing something concerning the best way to set up simple distribution/mailing lists? I love everything about The Bat! except for the lack-of-ease I'm running into for setting up lists of people that I want to send email to on a regular basis. In some other email programs (ie Pegasus) it was easy to just type the name of list you want in your address book and then you could simply drag and drop names from your address book into this list (not saying I like Pegasus better, but did like this feature). Maybe there is an easier way to set up a distribution list that I'm missing. Newbie Help
Greetings, I am new to The Bat as of late last night. I have to create two Groups Lists and use them as I did in Eudora. When I click on Groups . . . it takes me to Groups/Selector and there is nothing to select. Please help. Also I have some individuals who will be part of one of the groups. Is there some simple way to have them become part of the group list. Hello Rick, On Sunday, December 2, 2001 at 17:31 GMT -0500, a creature mimicking Rick Reumann [RR] wrote: RR (and please someone tell this newbie if I'm just screwing up and RR not configuring the stuff correctly). However if I set this default new template for the RR group than it comes up even if I just select one of the list RR recipients that I want to send a single new email to. The best way around this one is: create both your default and group templates as quick templates. Now in your address book group template, use the following: ,- [ Begin AB template ] - | | %IF:'%- | %SETPATTREGEXP=(?i)((.*\@){3,}|.*\list\)%- | %REGEXPMATCH=%TOLIST%CCLIST%BCCLIST%- | ''':'%- | %QINCLUDE=group template QT%- | ':'%- | %QINCLUDE=default template QT' | `- [ End AB Template ] - This will use the group template if you have 3 or more addresses in the recipient fields (TO, CC or BCC). Group templates will also be used if one of the recipient fields contains list. For everything else, the default template will be used. While you're at it, change your account default templates to refer to the quick template you just created. In other words, change the templates under Account - Properties to: %QINCLUDE=default template QT Note: For the sake of completeness, remember to use the quick templates' handles in place of default template QT and group template QT. Is there a way that I can set up a set of folders and filters that can be accessed from any account? The problem I have is when copying the .SRT files to the other accounts, I have to in to each rule and manually point the destination to the master account folder.
