AM Yes. Drafts cannot be sent unless their draft status is removed. Perhaps I didn't explain too well here. There is no way that I can send a message from the HTML Editor, either to my Outbox for later despatch or as a request for immediate despatch, unlike the other two editors which allow me to use either of the icons at the top left of my tool bar. The selection of Message - Send Now or Queue in Outbox also doesn't work for me with the HTML Editor. I didn't really want to send a draft - it was only by changing to the outbox and manually removing the draft status that I could get the message sent. The other editors automatically remove the draft status as soon as you hit the Send command from within the Editor. snipped other comments re Quick Templates not working with HTML Editor I guess that it is pretty clear that The Bat! isn't really ready for use as a HTML client, and personally I have no problem with that. Language Spell Checking Options in v2.01
G'day TBUDL Members, I recently installed v2.01 over the top of my old 1.62r (as outlined on the RIT Labs site) and find that although I still have the options of both American English and British English above the line under Spell Checker - Language, and still have British English checked as my option; when I select Spell Checker / Dictionaries, it shows the language as American English for both UserDic.TLX and Correct.TLX with no other alternatives available. Under the line which I understand to mean that there is no dictionary available, I have American English (CSAPI), Australian English (my system Language default) and British English listed a second time. I tried re-running The Bat International Pack executable file, even though I have never had to do this on previous 1.6 upgrades but I still am unable to access anything other than American English. Any suggestions on where I am going wrong, or what other settings I might need to change? I think I've looked in all the obvious places but I must be overlooking something. Sorry for bugging the list with all these questions but the Help file for v2 is no more complete or helpful than the old version. -- Bob Mo®®is Friday, 17 October 2003 Using The Bat! v2.01 on Windows 98 4.10 Build A Current version is 2.01 | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

The listserv MW software doesn't care if it's really you posting, the message is MW widely distributed, and it's publicly accessible on a web server. MW This certainly isn't the proper place to be transmitting sensitive MW information, so what's the point? First, it doesn't affect the messages security if the message is widely distributed. What matters is if the signature verifies and if you trust the public key you used to verify the message signature. In my case, I've been signing all messages to the list. It's the same key that I've been using since I've been signing my messages as moderator. That says a lot for consistency and greatly increases the trust value of the key you use to successfully validate my message signatures. IOW's, it's nigh unto impossible for someone to be impersonating me as moderator all this time. Say for instance, you get a heated message from me off list (not that I'm one to send such a message unless provoked into doing so :) ), a sensitive message, or a moderatorial one and it's signed. If it's verified as being signed using the same key as I've been using to sign all other messages from me to this list, you can be assured that the message was from me and reply to me in kind. :) Otherwise you can never really be sure who sent that message. Could be a prankster impersonating me. If I chose to sign none of the messages to the list and signed only the off-list message, then you still couldn't trust the key used to sign it, would you. The key has only been used once and there's no reason to trust it. -- -= allie_M =- | List Moderator PGPKeys: http://www.ac-martin.com/pgpkeys.html _ pgp0.pgp Description: PGP signature Current version is 2.01 | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Mark Wieder, [MW] wrote: MW So... um... it's possible to fake a PGP-signing? It's not really a matter of faking a signature. OK. The imposter creates a key and signs a message that contains one of my signatures. The from header also says the message is from me. I've never signed a message to this list and you proceed to verify the signature, PGP looks up the key on the keyserver and downloads it. The signature verifies as good meaning that the message hasn't been tampered with. The other vital question you need to answer is if the signature you verified was really created by a key that *I* signed with and not, instead, an imposter who simply created a key to do his evil deed. OTOH, take the current situation. I sign all my messages to the list. Everyone gets a chance, if they so choose to verify my signatures using the public key I make available via the keyservers and via the URL in my signature. You have over 2 years of messages consistently signed using the same key. The imposter who *cannot* sign with my key unless he has access to my machine and my passphrase, decides to try to impersonate me. He tries by sending a message without signing. Immediately the list members get suspicious. He sees that this will not work. He therefore signs the message. You now attempt to verify and note that PGP begins looking up a key. Alarm bells ring again since you already have my public key on your keyring. PGP shouldn't be looking for my public key. Some other key was used to sign. Again, alarm bells go off. I'll be away all of next week while I attend a conference. I'll not be able to tell you that a message seemingly from me was not in fact from me. However, I have no worries that I will be successfully impersonated. Why? I've been signing all my messages and any new ones may be verified. It doesn't matter that I'm really 'The Dude', Allie Martin from Jamaica that I claim I am. What does matter is that I'm the person who has been signing with the same key for years on this list and I've been playing moderator with said name. memo-field data storage
Hello TBUDL, probably all of you know a .TBB file is used to store email msgs (with some additional info) and a .TBI file is used as an indexing file for the .TBB file. As sometimes a message base goes south, it is often advised to delete the .TBI file and let TB! recreate it, which often seems to help. Now, in case you use memo fields (control+shift+i) to add whatever comment to a msg, be aware that deleting a .TBI file will also wipe all memos you ever added to the corresponding email, as memos are stored in the .TBI file. Suggestion to ritlabs: Store such additional data into a seperate file (.TBX ..?), probably using the original msgs ID to link it to the corresponding email. Then, in case the .TBI file is recreated, emails and memos can be recovered correctly. -- Kind regards, ouwehand dot net Peter Ouwehand mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - - - - - Using The Bat! transferring TB to new PC?
Hi All, My laptop crased and I'm trying to put TB on my new PC...accounts, emails and all. I installed the latest trial version of TB on my PC and then copied over the new Mail folder with my old Mail folder (containing all my emails, accounts, etc.). But nothing happened? When I open TB I only see the one test account I had to set up when installing. Any suggestions? Much appreciated! I have received a number of suggestions of what the number is. But it still is not clear. Here is a picture of The Bat! at this very minute. These folders are subfolders of my account, and have no subfolders. In the picture, X represents an icon. Note the number is 6, not (6). NameUnread Total -X MyAccountName 8 |-X Inbox0 6 |-X Outbox 0 |-X Sent Mail2 +-X Trash0 X Common Folders here with a total of 307 messages. System information: I am using Pop3 at home with The Bat!, but the account is really an Exchange account at work, which I read with Microsoft Outlook. The Message Dispatcher shows 15 messages, with all marked Read and one also marked Delete. I execute the Dispatcher and the one message is deleted. But the folder tree does not change, nor is there any change in the six messages in Inbox. I PurgeCompress ... no change. I am confused. Ed _ | Edward J.
