It is expected that some applications will stop working on SP2. The reason is that SP2 is closing some doors for backwards compatibility out-of-the-box. Those sections of code for backwards compatibility was a security risk. But, if I'm not mistaken you can still run those applications by using the application compatibility settings, and that is supposed to make those applications run in their own little environment without breaching the security of the system. CTRL-SHIFT-Left is to select word by word going backwards, if no forward selection has already been performed. You'll find the same behavior in Notepad and MS Word, and many other editors. > 2) Selection: Ctrl-Shift-Left should unselect word by word. Now, I see what you mean when being in the headers. If a person selected the text going towards the right, then yes CTRL-Shift-Left should unselect word by word while going towards the left. But, it doesn't just move the cursor at the beginning of the edit box, but selects from the first character up to where the cursor is currently located. The same observation can be made when selecting towards the left and then using CTRL-Shift-Right to unselect while going towards the right, it selects from the current cursor position all the way to the end of the text, and the cursor positions itself at the end. > Again, things work properly in the message text. Unfortunately, most of the best software I've seen on the market lacks good documentation(especially if it's a small software company). In our company, I develop the software and do the preliminary testing, and my colleague does a more thorough testing and the documentation, as well as tech support. So as you can see he knows what to put in the documentation and how to write so our clients don't have difficulty reading it. Yet, we still have clients that call us to ask questions on how a feature works. And, when we ask them if they read the help file, the answer is that they never did. And, I think this is the reason why some software companies don't bother that much with writing a good help file. But, at the same time, if you don't have a good documentation, you might lose sales. If RITlabs doesn't have a person that writes the documentation and even do some testing at the same time, then it might be beneficial to think about it. I don't have any problems with ZA Pro. I remember that there was a particular version of ZA Pro that caused a problem, but that has been fixed. But, I do notice that sometimes, my e-mails do seem to take some time to download, but that occurs when SpamPal is checking against blacklist servers and is waiting after those servers. What would you be expecting the end result of the drag-and-drop to be? When programming the drag-and-drop operation, the developer has to say how the drag-and-drop is going to be handled. Probably in TB, the only information is the either an unique ID that points to the message or the whole message structure(message, attachments, flags, color group, etc...). And since Eudora is included, it's not beyond DK> reason to hope that TB! is also being targeted. :) Actually you can find the same information at McAfee and Norton. Also, after reviewing the documentation on the virus, TB files can be used to read e-mail addresses(at least with 1.62), since the file is a simple text file and can be read easily. Also, since the virus has 2 methods to propagate itself(network and e-mail), it only takes one person on the network to open an infected e-mail attachment, to infect the rest of the network. If you have an up-to-date virus definitions for your anti-virus software, then you should be save. But, this virus seems to be tricky, since it can install itself in the startup directory and runs on startup. That seems to be the way it propagates itself on a network. So, next time you restart your computer, it might be too late. This virus can shutdown an anti-virus and firewall software, and a number of other malicious things it can do. So, basically, if your on a network and don't know how the other people read their e-mails or if they don't have the proper protection in place. Watch out! Those 2 accounts are with separate mail servers(one with Hotmail and the other with my ISP), and they do get busy and have a lot of users, and the slow down is usually during peak time. You are correct in assuming that for bug fixes and updates to existing sections, he would have to continue using Delphi. Unless, he is rewriting the corresponding code in C++ and linking the object library with the Delphi source code. If version 2 is being totally developed in C++, then my guess is that it is a rewrite and that is not a short process. Even though, the Delphi language resembles C++ up to a point, it's still not easy to convert Delphi to C++. It takes time and especially lots of testing. In doing a rewrite, it is possible that they caught a lot of the bugs, since they have to touch all of the code. I've coded with C++ and I prefer Delphi because I find it easier to work with. I think that if the messages downloaded at a normal speed and that it's in the importing mails process, then Zone Alarm has nothing to do with the slowness of The Bat!, since the message has already crossed the firewall. Although the only way to make sure that Zone Alarm is not the problem, is if the problem persists with Zone Alarm being shutdown. When we had the previous version of Zone Alarm on the servers, one of our servers was slowing down for no apparent reason(and no e-mail client and e-mail server resides on that system). I do prefer the way that HTML is displayed now in The Bat!, but it is quite easy to implement Delphi's web browser component in a way that if you click on a link that an external browser pops up. RitLabs is probably using another HTML viewer component or created their own with the limitation of not showing what is coming from external sources. Here too, I would prefer to be able to choose which viewer I want to use. -- Best regards, Daniel Rail Senior System Engineer ACCRA Group Inc. (www.accra.ca) ACCRA Med Software Inc. Actually FTP(File Transfer Protocol) has its own defined packet structure and communication language to transfer a file over TCP(Transport Connection Protocol). The initial specs of FTP dates back to April 16, 1971. And actually the command-line interface is used for user interactions was mainly developed later when more and more people owned computers and had a connection to the internet, even via a BBS(Bulletin Board System, for those who don't remember), if that BBS was connected to the internet. If you want more information on FTP, here's a link to the official technical documentation: http://www.freesoft.org/CIE/RFC/959/index.htm -- Best regards, Daniel Rail Current version is 1.62 | "Using TBUDL" information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Also, look in user's temp directory to make sure you don't have too many files as well, which would be "c:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USERNAME\Local Settings\TEMP". "Local Settings" is a hidden directory. Hope this helps. -- Best regards, Daniel Rail Senior System Engineer ACCRA Group Inc. (www.accra.ca) ACCRA Med Software Inc. But, I definitely wouldn't want the filter sorting change the order of the filtering. It would be nice to at least have a search capability. But, I just couldn't imagine someone having around 100 filters under incoming and trying to manage them. Just my 2 cents. -- Best regards, Daniel Rail Current version is 1.62 | "Using TBUDL" information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

What Marek mentioned is that version 1.62e is a beta version of a future release, not a beta of version 1.62, which is officially released. The same goes for version 1.62h that I mentioned in my message, that one too is a beta version of an upcoming release. It's just that they probably haven't decided what the official version number will be for that release. -- Best regards, Daniel Rail Senior System Engineer ACCRA Group Inc. We have on our servers ZAP v3.x, and one of them was unstable and we weren't sure what it was, until we installed the latest version of ZAP(v3.5.169). After the installation of the latest version, everything runs smooth now. I had some problems before as well with MailSafe On(prior v3.5.169), until I upgraded to version 3.5.169, and I'm running Windows 2000 SP3 with all the updates. -- Best regards, Daniel Rail Senior System Engineer ACCRA Group Inc. When you look in "Spell Checker -> Dictionaries", it only shows the American English and User dictionaries. I had to add the French dictionary file to the list, and I did the same for the British English dictionary and I also noticed that the word "metre" is not in the British English dictionary. You'll still need to add it yourself. And, I'm using The Bat! 1.62 Christmas Edition. Hope this answers part of your question. -- Best regards, Daniel Rail Senior System Engineer ACCRA Group Inc.
