I tried several combinations but currently:
- Always encrypt to own key
- Show icon in tray
- Cache pass phrase and share among modules
- All E-mail options off

The sender uses "Version: GnuPG v1.2.4-sb1 (RISC OS)"
Somehow I think it slips in something that confuses TB!
PGP sees it as an attachment. But I don't know if TB! 'told' PGP that
it's an attachment or that PGP, for example, finds something odd in
the decrypted message and then assumes it's an attachment.
But he never had any complaints about his e-mails
So people using, for example, Outlook don't have the problem

It still is about an official The Bat feature so I think it's ok.
I'm sure a mod will drop a line if not. :D

Thanks for the URL Kevin.
The settings you recommended where the same as mine.
So that's not the problem I think.
I just checked your signature.
PGP fetched the key from a key server and then verified your message
as valid.
TB! also reports this.
All at just pressing the check signature in TB! v2.11
So I think that shows PGP communicates properly with TB!
Are you using PGP or GnuPG?

BTW (mod) can we continue discussing this here or does it belong on the

By e-mail is fine.
So is the URL of the web site.

It looks the testing various PGP versions didn't do any good to my
system. When opening the PGP selection window in TheBat!

Send the message: thebat.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point PGPNewKeyServerFromHostName could not be
located in the dynamic link library PGPsdkNL.dll

Time for a good system clean when I get back from office :P

Let's say I feel neutral.

I want to get v8 working because of PGPdisk

Unfortunately that integration doesn't work. Or maybe I should say I
can't get it to work.
Encrypting/signing/decryption all work.
When I decrypt PGP wants to save to file.
Real integration would be that it replaces the encrypted text with the
plain text. Without loosing quotes/formatting etc.
The OpenPGP found in TB! integrates a lot better but has problems with
quotes. Maybe some smart trick with templates can solve that...
But it doesn't support the latest ciphers so it's useless for me :(
BTW as long as it works and handles modern ciphers it doesn't matter if
it's PGP/OpenPGP/GPG/...

MR> Secondly, PGP v6.5.8 does not have some of the vulnerability fixes

Tell that on alt.security.pgp :-)
Many there will not agree with you. Some still stick with 2.6
And many don't trust the versions where PRZ was not (closely) involved
I never heard of security flaws in PGP besides academic 'weaknesses'
found in MD5

But besides of that I would use a later version, if only for new
ciphers/hashes.
I'm running an evaluation copy of TB! as you can see from the header
and I want to learn as much about TB! in that period so that I can
make a founded decision.

Thanks for your reply.

Thanks for the link. No plugins for PGP v8.x
So I installed PGP 6.5.x :)
TB! only accepts *.tbp as a plugin. The plugin you suggested are *.dll
TB! window still shows *.DLL as a description so I assume the
extension has changed between v1.x and v2.x?
Anyway how to install?

I still use Agent for usenet. I've always used programs that
specialize in a certain field. I couldn't imagine using a mail
program to use as a mail reader. And while Agent will do e-mail
it doesn't have very good features for that use. Before I came
to TB! I used Eudora. I never have regretted my switch, as
Eudora became to bloated and slow. Oh, and paying for upgrades
with every version didn't strike my fancy either. I think if you
give TB! a chance you'll be really happy with it.

Besides from that it looks like a complete waste of programming time.
(no pun intended)
Using the (copy to clipboard) method supported by PGP works easier.
I don't call that a plugin or integration.
I must be careful with comments because I'm testdriving TB! for only 3
days But it looks so very Un Batish to me.
I'm still a bit lost in TB! interface (my problem) but in those 3 days
I already have the impression that TB! coders spend 50% off their time
on a feature and 50% on putting it into TB!.
And that's meant as a positive comment. So many coders just bung in a
few options that look cool in their sales pitch and that's it.
TB! seems to give the streamlining high priority too.

EM> I really liked that old behaviour It would be grate that it would be

I vote yes for that too!
