Ms. Pam, That is so true. I forget so many important things and it is not me...it is because of the medications that I take. I hate it. Prayers work, Jude In a message dated 12/2/2008 11:26:50 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: It's hard to do thinking/mind games when the meds make it to hard to focus... so off all meds for now figured the pain it not so bad as all the side effects.. -- Original message from Jan Hargrove [EMAIL PROTECTED]: -- The memory thing will get better, but you need to be doing things that help, i.e. crossword puzzles, suduko(sp?), etc.after saying that, I'll also say that things get better, slowly but surely. Keep a positive attitude and laugh alot!! I was 57 when tm came to live with me 12½ years ago...I went from paralyzed at the t8 to one of the walking wounded. It takes lots of work, but with a positive attitude and laughter, you can make life better!! It helps that my hubby is upbeat and there for me (not the way he plannrd his retirement years), and a natural clown.,, we've laughed at many of my misadventures thru this new way of life...I've always thought that the idea if we don't laugh at ourselves, we'll be crying fit into my plan of attack. janh in OK --- On Tue, 12/2/08, [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [TMIC] REFLECTIONS To: tmic-list@eskimo.com Date: Tuesday, December 2, 2008, 7:13 AM Thanks, Kim, for sharing this. I was so touched by the words that I forwarded it to my family and friends. Maybe they can understand a little bit better what TMers go thru. TM hit me on May 4, 2008. With the meds I'm on the time passage thing seems even more rapid than pre-TM. The memory issues are much worse now as are the physical issues. I feel like I'm 84 years instead of 54 years! I know that there are folks out there who are worse off than I am. It's hard not to feel sorry for yourself when you're in this condition. I'm sure everyone knows about that. [TMIC] memory, cognitive function, helps
I have memory loss along with cognitive dysfunction. It is better since I am currently able to be on much lower doses of my meds. (I am not anti-meds and will go back up when I must) The suggestion on group about doing crossword puzzles, etc. is excellent. My neuro told me that years ago. It's good to keep those brain cells working! I also have a really bad time with MS fatigue. My neuro has given me Ritalin to help with that fatigue and it helps me focus mentally. love you all Sharon

[TMIC] Adjustable Ankle Stabilizer for drop foot
I saw a friend that had a light brake in his ankle wearing a adjustable ankle stabilizer that he got from Wal-Mart for about $12. I got one, it can be warn on the left or right ankle. It has really helped with my drop foot around the house. I want to be able to where all night long ( I started at 4 pm ), but my foot burned so bad that at 1 am, I had to take it off. There is a smaller one that might be better with shoes for $8. Has anyone else tried this if so, how did it work for you? Hope everyone is having a BETTER day, Todd in CC, TX

Re: [TMIC] Too Cold
Hi, Randy, I've been taking Lyrica and Lexapro for quite awhile but just changed over to Cymbalta from the Lexapro and added Tramadol for pain and I can't tell you how much I've improved! I experimented with the timing on taking the Tramadol and only take two a day. You can take 1-2 up to 4 times a day (800mg total) and I'm only taking 1 in the AM and 1 at noon. The Cymbalta is an antidepressant but also seems to help with pain so that is why we changed over to that from the Lexapro. Gosh, I sure wish it could help someone else... Jeanne

Re: [TMIC] Too Cold
Randy, Like Jeanne, I take Cymbalta and tramadol which does seem to help the pain. I have yet to find anything to completely wipe out the pain only things that make it tolliable. I also wear a TENS machine on my back. I seem to have the worst pain during the cold, too hot, and humidity above 70% - the barometric pressure changes really do me in. I was fitted with a "custom made" AFO in 04 at the rehab hospital for drop foot... really helped but problem is I can't take anything (no socks, shoes, blankets) ect on my feet (yes winter is a real buggar let me tell you) but so the AFO does help alot if you have insurance they will pay for it. -- Original message from "jrushton" [EMAIL PROTECTED]: -- In response to: I saw a friend that had a light brake in his ankle wearing a adjustable ankle stabilizer that he got from Wal-Mart for about $12. I also wear an AFO boot (s) and they make it so much more comfortable. I take them off at night for sleeping, but wear them most of the day, especially when I am sitting up in bed. Some are meant to walk in and some are not, so you ought to see a specialist to get fitted and to find out which are best for you. Love, Jude In a message dated 12/3/2008 9:58:56 P.M. Hello all. I wear a Dictus Splint. It is a cuff that fits around my ankle, fastened by Velcro straps. It has a D ring and an elastic. The elastic hooks on two hooks that are inserted into the lace holes on my shoes. It is great. I sure notice when I don't wear it. It makes a huge difference to foot drop. In response to: Hi, Jeanne, I am currently on 300 mg a day of Lyrica. I find that I am very stiff with pain late night and early morning, especially when turning in bed. I think I may ask my neur. about Tramadol to add and see if that helps. Thanks for the information. Valerie in Illinois Hi, Valerie! The Lyrica and Tramadol combination along with the Cymbalta has enabled me to do more than I have for 3 1/2 years. I can do my housework and not even think about the pain. There is still some stiffness and coldness but I don't feel the acid/hot/cold/excruciating 24/7 pain as I did before. Now, today, I missed the noon Tramadol and sure enough, the pain came through loud and clear so it definitely does help! I sure do hope and pray it works for you!! Jeanne in Dayton, WA

Thank you Pam. That was absolutely beautiful. You always put others before you, which is a precious gift. We are very blessed indeed that you are a part of the TM family. Best wishes to you and your family for a very special Holiday. Re: [TMIC] Too Cold
Hi Jeanne, Awesome that you are having such relief from all the fun pain. I tried Lyrica - it did nothing for me - again, we are all different, but I am going to ask my doctor about the Tramadol. Yep, it would be worth adding yet another drug to my current cocktail if it helped! I don't find that it makes me 'rummy' or 'foggy brained' (ha! more than normal, that is!). I sure do wish it could work for you all, I truly do..j
