I support John's suggestion. Vortexbox is a very nice and well supported solution. As you can see from my signature I currently use a Readynas Ultra 2 Plus NAS. So if you would like to just have a NAS, the Netgear may be the thing. A Vortexbox appliance is of course also a NAS and is even more flexible beeing a full Fedora install. Does this include support for async USB mode? ralphpnj and iPhone, have you actually listened to a Music Streamer USB DAC, the Ayre or one of the other asynchronous USB dacs? Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Touch Analog Output Stage
I'm also very interested in this! Any electrolytic cap in the signal path is bad for sound quality. The best would be no cap at all, but a small DC across an input switch will produce pops and clicks when changing inputs. I've bypassed the output caps on my SB2 and use a DIY interconnect with polyprop caps in series with the signal. The improvement is quite dramatic in some respects. -- OGS SB2 (mod) - Tact RCS 2.0 - Rotel RB-1060 (mod) - Tannoy Sensys DC1 OGS's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32981 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77716 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] DACMagic and Touch
.. is there a DC-blocking electrolytic on the audio output of the DAC? AKM's diagram indicate that it may be possible to do without the electrolytic which would be great! I've pre-ordered my Touch today and I am really looking forward to swap my SB 2 with the new wonder. -- OGS SB2 (mod) - Tact RCS 2.0 - Rotel RB-1060 (mod) - Tannoy Sensys DC1 OGS's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32981 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=72407 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] DACMagic and Touch
..that is what I use in my current setup, but I have friends that will be using the analog out and it is really nice to know that I won't have to worry about cheap electrolytics in the signal path.
