[Bug 240116] [NEW] Default File Naming in nautilus
Public bug reported: On installing templates in the ~/Templates directory, if two new files of a template are to be created in the same directory, naming is currently done as: New .abc New .abc 1 It should instead have been: New .abc New 1.abc because the former creates wrong file extension and certain image templates, for eg. xcf[gimp files] format finds it as an error while opening it. ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Default File Naming in nautilus https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/240116 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 111694] Re: DeLORME Earthmate GPS LT-20 (USBid:1163:0200) doesn't work in Feisty
With a recent Ubuntu update things got good enough to work. I went through the process of getting the new cypress_m8.c from 2.6.24-generic source package. I did the usual change commenting out the "cypress_set_dead(port);" line recompiled and using that module the LT-20 GPS began talking. I had a problem with gpsdrive though. For some reason it wasn't initializing correctly and trying to set preferences caused it to die with segmentation fault. I eventually found manually editing my gpsdriverc file to give a full path for way.txt allowed me to select preferences and get gpsdrive out of simulation mode! Well, it was either that or the other thing I did which was to remove gpsdrive and reinstall it. So, at least I'm back to the "workaround" which had worked in earlier Ubuntus. It would be nice if cypress_m8 were fixed though. -- DeLORME Earthmate GPS LT-20 (USBid:1163:0200) doesn't work in Feisty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/111694 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 207072] Re: nautilus does not display samba shares for machines inside an ADS network.
darkrain42, I've had an opportunity to review your patch, and it looks altogether correct to me (with one quibble over the error message presented on authentication failure). Although upstream has expressed concern about code duplication in the implementation, the two backends already share more than half their code, and this patch brings them closer to parity. Eliminating this code duplication is not something we should strive for in an SRU; though for my part, I wonder why this was ever done as two separate backends in the first place given the obvious overlap. However, even with this patch applied, I don't see correct behavior for the share list when trying to connect to a samba server joined to an AD realm. TEST CASE: 1. install the samba, smbclient, and winbind packages. 2. configure your system to act as a member of an AD realm, and enable the [homes] autoshares; e.g., in smb.conf: [global] workgroup = CANONICAL realm = CANONICAL.LOCAL security = ADS idmap backend = tdb idmap uid = 1-2 idmap gid = 1-2 template shell = /bin/bash [homes] comment = Home Directories valid users = %S create mask = 0700 directory mask = 0700 browseable = No 3. join your machine to the AD realm with 'net ads join' (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ActiveDirectoryWinbindHowto#head-bbf631898fac0418a653cae2f0d4a1344ca8dfc2) 4. sudo /etc/init.d/samba restart && sudo /etc/init.d/winbind restart 5. grab a Kerberos tgt for the account in the AD realm with the same name as your login user by running 'kinit'. (You do not have to configure your local machine for AD logins for this to work, but the username must match between the AD realm and your local system.) 6. test with smbclient that the home share for the user is visible; i.e., "smbclient -L localhost -k" should return in the list of shares a share with the same name as the user. (using "smbclient -L localhost -N", i.e., anonymous connections, the share will not be visible.) 7. test whether nautilus sees this same share by running 'nautilus smb://localhost/'. EXPECTED RESULTS: gvfsd-smb-browse will transparently use the existing Kerberos credentials when retrieving the browse list for the server, and a folder will appear in nautilus with the same name as the user. ACTUAL RESULTS: gvfsd-smb-browse fails to use the Kerberos credentials, and the user's home share does not appear in the list. -- nautilus does not display samba shares for machines inside an ADS network. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/207072 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 220501] Gutsy also affected
This issue affect Gutsy (7.10) as well. Toshiba Satellite L40-17U, only a USB mouse is connected. Other symptoms: - There were times when the Alt key was seemed as constantly pressed, just before the freeze. - Compiz was turned off and XGL disabled, but there are still hang-ups. - Network "confusion"? These hang-ups started after starting to use aMule and Azureus (not at the same time). - The Laptop was on all night with Azureus working on sharing only, without any downloads (sharing OpenSuse 10.3 ISO files, nothing special). In the morning, when starting-up Firefox, the PC froze and started the blink. Possible directions: - Overheating issue? The CPU temperature is about 60 degrees Celsius when it happens, so I guess it can be ruled out. - Network issue? Trying to work with the wifi turned off, to see if it has anything to do with that. [Bug 113693] Re: rhythmbox should provide more music radio stations
I tried writing a script that grabs as much radio stations as possible from that website, then spits out a rhythmbox iradio-initial.pls in the current working directory. Maybe it can help, so I will attach it here. Limitations: - cpu intensive, it seems - it is written in horrible ways and it shows - the xiph directory changes all the time, it seems that the sorting is based on the last radio that changed track title - limited to 5 pages (100 stations) because the xiph website doesn't seem to want to display more - does not check for duplicates (caused by the ever changing xiph directory) - only uses the first "genre" tag ** Attachment added: "rhythmbox radio finder.py" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/15324957/rhythmbox%20radio%20finder.py -- rhythmbox should provide more music radio stations https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/113693 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 194486] Re: printing in Firefox 3 Beta 3 is broken
still fails for me with an up to date hardy. printing from FF3 fails. printing the exact same page from FF2 works. this is with a Samsung ML-2010 laser, connected with a Netgear PS-121 network adapter. well worth pointing out for a second time that provided I avoid FF3, this setup works perfectly. so, in an attempt to rule out the PS-121, I set up another machine (Dapper) to share the printer via cups, and changed my Hardy machine to point to it over IPP. FF3 still fails to print. [Bug 158167] Re: GDM Login fails w/Xen Kernel 2.6.22-14-xen
I'm having the same problem. After logging into xfce I receive a warning dialog window. [Bug 239757] Re: Rhythmbox jams after other apps use ALSA
Just to make a note, I am experiencing the same bug (also running Ubuntu Hardy). Symptoms identical to those reported by teledyn. RB will not start playing a song if any other app has engaged ALSA first (another player, firefox when viewing pages with sound, anything). If I start any other alsa-using software first (tested w/ mplayer, audacious, and firefox 3 beta), then RB will not play, keeping the tracker at 00:00. Other apps don't conflict with each other, but they all conflict with RB. However, if I start RB as soon as I boot up, then it will monopolize alsa and no other app is able to play any sounds. If I then close RB and start another app (audacious), that app can play. If I then close the other app and restart RB, RB will not play. I also suspect it's a recent ubuntu update, as rhythmbox worked just fine until June 12 or 13. -- Rhythmbox jams after other apps use ALSA https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/239757 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 240087] [NEW] MOD operation after a x ᶺ y operation don't work
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gcalctool I saw the bug number #172449 that is similar, but in this case the problem was solved. In my case the gcalctool doesn't work fine. My distribution is: DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=8.04 DISTRIB_CODENAME=hardy DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 8.04" The packet with problem is: $ dpkg -l | grep -i gcalctool ii gcalctool 5.22.2-0ubuntu1 A GTK2 desktop calculator When I use MOD operation after a x^y operation the MOD function don't work, because the result is invalid. If I put 2^2 MOD 2 the message "Invalid modulus operation parameter(s)" appears. And the result don't appears. The correct result of this is 0. I tried some other ways like: 2^2 and after I clicked in "=". After I clicked in "=" I clicked in MOD and 2 and I clicked again in "=". The same message appears. I already tried with many numbers. But in all cases I can't saw the correct result. I will attach the screenshot of the calculator with this error. ** Affects: gcalctool (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- MOD operation after a x ᶺ y operation don't work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/240087 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 207473] Re: Screen brightness double level changes
I reported #239413 following the advice above of Andreas Wenning and reported #239706 when I noticed that the scope of the multiple key pressing problem goes beyond the scope of the brightness keys. I think the difference between them is that this one (#207473) and #239413 deal with the power-manager part of the problem (KDE and Gnome, respectively), while #239706 deals directly with the hal problem, which is also affecting the CRT/LCD key. -- Screen brightness double level changes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/207473 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 239930] Re: scanner port detection
I just installed xp and see if agfa snapscan e50 works or is defective; yes it does work with no problems. - I noticed that after shutting down the pc after the xp run the scanner front panel light went off contrary to hardy shutdown - the light was always on on scanner panel (as it does on the usb wifi dongle) - question - is this normal after hardy pc shutdown ? is the scanner reset at power up and hardy boot ? - then I powered up the pc and boot into hardy, first surprise, --> the panel light came up and the scanning light moved during boot up as well as during hardy loading and after hardy was up and running another surprise greeted me > xsane loaded with no problems. - after this experience it appears that scanner resetting process at boot and/or hardy load PRIOR to xsane load did not take place the way xsane expects it to. why did it work flawlessly after xp shut it down ? and not before ? - another point, xsane on the help page mentiones ver 1 and above while the repo is still at 0.995 --> is there any chance to get a more recent version (1 or above) on hardy repo please ? I'll keep an eye on xsane for a while --> load xsane daily, do at least one scan and report results. peter b -- scanner port detection https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/239930 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
