[Bug 740011] Re: Natty: the driver sp5100_tco prevents PC startup
Also happens on my HP g61 11.04 and newest kernel (2.6.38-10-generic) with only the second message appearing. I have noticed that most people that have this problem tend to have AMD processors and ATI graphics cards. Perhaps the problem is related to this (sorry if this is either obvious or stupid, I am quite new to the linux framework) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/740011 Title: Natty: the driver sp5100_tco prevents PC startup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/740011/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 708286] Re: Resume after suspend not working - Toshiba Tecra R700
Seth, thanks for the test kernel! So if I understand correctly, I should see the machine resuming from suspend and then rebooting? I tested this many times, and I'm seeing some erratic behavior. Sometimes I get the fans spin up, system unresponsive behavior from the bug description. Behavior A. Sometimes I get this behavior, which is the same as from comment #27: I boot, then open a terminal and sudo pm-suspend. The machine suspends and the power light starts blinking in orange. I press the power button, power light goes solid green, and the system starts up just as if I'd rebooted it (I see the Toshiba logo, goes through pxe boot attempt, grub, boots into the desktop). Let's call this behavior B I did 6 test runs with your modified 2.6.38-10 kernel: test 1,2,3,4 - behavior B test 5,6 - behavior A I went back to the original 2.6.38-8 kernel and I got: test 1 - behavior A test 2 - behavior B test 3 - behavior A This is very strange, I'm not sure the rebooting behavior I'm seeing is what should be expected from your reboot after resume kernel, and in any case, it doesn't happen reliably every time. How to proceed from here :( ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Natty) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/708286 Title: Resume after suspend not working - Toshiba Tecra R700 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/708286/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 777874] Re: If multiple reports on new bug, mark it confirmed
We know Ubuntu wants this behavior. We are less confident that other projects will. Francis suggested feature flags as an initial cut for a distinguishing mechanism. I think we could do this by, for instance, looking for a feature flag that specifies a comma-separated whitelist of projects that want this behavior. After this is deployed and configured for Ubuntu, we can then decide if we should apply this policy to all projects, if we should make it opt-in or opt-out, and if we should make it configurable. A particularly nice thing about this approach is that we can deploy the change in a no-downtime deployment, as early as possible, for Ubuntu; and then other opt-in/opt-out choices that require a database change can be pushed out to a db change/downtime deployment. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/777874 Title: If multiple reports on new bug, mark it confirmed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/launchpad/+bug/777874/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 809534] Re: duplicate zeroconf service entries are generated for hosts with both IPv4 and IPv6 address
Some additional information: The effect of the patch can be seen by running `distcc --show-hosts`. Before applying the patch, you will see an error complaining about an IPv6 address in ~/.distcc/zeroconf/hosts (it shouldn't be there and distcc is trying to parse it as a IPv4 address). After applying this patch `distcc --show-hosts` and all other distcc functionality will work fine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/809534 Title: duplicate zeroconf service entries are generated for hosts with both IPv4 and IPv6 address To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/distcc/+bug/809534/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I had the same problem. To be able to install, i had to temporarily disable nvidia-common's kernel postinst triggers. What i did was: # sudo chmod a-x /etc/kernel/header_postinst.d/nvidia-common # sudo chmod a-x /etc/kernel/postinst.d/nvidia-common Upgraded kernel headers and image, and reversed the previous changes with: # sudo chmod a+x /etc/kernel/header_postinst.d/nvidia-common # sudo chmod a+x /etc/kernel/postinst.d/nvidia-common After this i reinstalled nvidia-current just to make sure the driver was updated too, because i didn't notice if the module for the new kernel was generated, so i'm not sure if this was really needed... better safe than sorry. This way i was able to upgrade the kernel, and i've already successfully rebooted without any issues, so it works. :) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/798980 Title: package linux-image-2.6.38-10-generic 2.6.38-10.44 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: il sottoprocesso vecchio script di post-installation ha restituito lo stato di errore 2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/798980/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 708286] Re: Resume after suspend not working - Toshiba Tecra R700
Your behavior B is what you'd expect to see when you get back to the kernel with the patch applied. I guess we can conclude that at least sometimes you aren't getting back to the kernel, but we can't really tell whether behavior B is due to the reset or something else. Does that machine have a caps lock LED? If it does, and if it's not already coming on when the machine hangs, I can probably turn it on in the same place where the reset is now to let us know whether or not it's ever making it back to the kernel. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/708286 Title: Resume after suspend not working - Toshiba Tecra R700 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/708286/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I'd rather suggest a boolean feature flag and then we use a custom scope selector. The scope handler (project:?) could take a comma list of project names. If it's not a bug, it's quite hard to know how to process it. It might be worth making a list and contacting manufacturers of Nvidia Tegra-based machines and telling them that you'd really like to buy a system running Ubuntu and Unity. If you're also able to give them a rough-idea of the sort of specification that you'd interested and how much you'd like to spend on it they'd probably be in a better position to know what you're after in particular. ** Summary changed: - There is no Tablet PC with Ubuntu and Unity based on the Nvidia Tegra + There is no Tablet PCs or smartphones with Ubuntu and Unity based on the Nvidia Tegra -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/809833 Title: There is no Tablet PCs or smartphones with Ubuntu and Unity based on the Nvidia Tegra To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/809833/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks to feedback for my bug report. The bug is still issue on Natty. [Bug 810085] [NEW] update-manager takes a long time to download sun-java update, and the download counter rolls backwards
Public bug reported: Because downloads of the daily updates were taking an unusually long time (possibly a server-side issue?), I clicked open the download details in update manager and witnessed the download counter for the sun-java6-bin package rolling backwards. [Bug 810048] Re: Mute button does not work on Lenovo X200s
The DMI quirk that was the fix for bug 281732 is not in place for the X200s. The DMI quirk should be a last resort though, so let's look for a better fix for the problem first. First you should try the steps in the Step-by-step troubleshooting section of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Hotkeys/Troubleshooting and report back your observations. Be sure to try the steps in the Fixing broken keys section of /usr/share/doc/udev/README.keymap.txt.gz if you don't get any key events from xev. If you don't find any key events using that technique, try the following. Set your audio to be muted, then execute 'cat /proc/acpi/ibm/volume', then press the mute button and run the command again. Does the reported state change? Try the same thing again, but start with the audio unmuted. Finally, run 'tail -f /var/log/kern.log', press the mute button, and see if you get any output in response. If you do, please report that output here. [Bug 810093] [NEW] samsung-laptop backlight flickering
Public bug reported: I have a Samsung N220 plus. The backlight of the laptop often starts flickering (switching very fast between 2 brightness levels) when gnome tries to reduce the screen brightness (automatically after some time) to save power. This problem also occurs if you press more and less screen brightness at the same time. I think it could be a problem with the sabi Bios interaction (samsung-laptop.c), because linux on my samsung also had this Problem with theier samsung-backlight module: http://www.voria.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=625p=5148 and they solved it by interfacing the backlight via pci. [Bug 793613] Re: package man-db 2.5.9-4 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess script post-installation installé was killed by signal (Erreur de segmentation)
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Reviewing your log files attached to this bug report it seems that a package failed to install due to a segmentation fault in application being used by the package installation process. Unfortunately, this bug report isn't very useful in its current state and a crash report would be much more useful. Could you try recreating this issue by enabling apport to catch the crash report 'sudo service apport start force_start=1' and then trying to install the same package again? This process will create a new bug report so I am marking this one as Invalid.
