I created matching metacity and emerald themes. Based on the Union concept for Hardy, but are taylored to be dark. They may fit in well with all the dark/light hybird themes floating around. It seems like cards from asia are flagged because of a high incidence of fraud in the region - surely there's got to be better ways of protecting against fraud than black-listing an entire region ... ? Hi, I am facing strange Internet experience on my Ubuntu system. I have a system with Dual Booting, Linux/Ubuntu and Windows XP. Airtel Broadband connection is with Beetel Modem interface to ethernet (not usb). Now, I can open Google.com, can search. I can open Gmail, read/send mails. i can open citibank india page. I can ping any site, and the Ip is resolved quickly (ping shws the IP Address and also pings ). I can open a site (cannt disclose the adderss, my companies internal site), using IP address (no name regsited for that server). BUT, I cannot open any other site. I can search but when i click the link in search result page, it just says,. Waiting for site_name and then nothing happens for long. I telnet to yahoo.com port 80, issued GET /index.html but nothing happened, just Remote host closed the connection For all sites, it says Waiting and then nothing happens. This is really strange.In google translate, I opened youtube.com and that opened, but not the images or links which has direct requested to original server. Talked to airtel guys, but let me tell you, they are the dumbest technicians in the world (at least at customer care center). I have bad experince with them. Let me share that to you people: Once I called Airtel Broadband Customer care, and asked, wht is the Gateway address for modem to airtel network, and they said 192.168.1.1 I explianed the fact to them tat this is modem, which is gateway foir my computer. The guy thought for sometime and trhen said, 192.168.1.1 I shouted and he ran to call senior officers, said he knows the address and can tell you. Well, they made a good intrepid decision (hopefully final) about moving to kernel .27 - I was looking forward to better hassle-free wireless support on my HP tablet with Broadcom wifi chipset, but after looking at the thread in the link below for Hardy that proposed update works well for me. Now Intrepid looks like it will be a boring release especially if there isn't OpenOffice.org 3.0 or Firefox 3.1 by default :-) I really hope they live up to the code name intrepid and make some bolder decisions about the default packages... HP tx2510us installation problems
Salutations UbuntuStudio Geeks, I just picked up a splendid (for Vista only so far) HP tablet model tx2510 and have had no success installing UbuntuStudio. I looked to the non-studio support and found issues described similar to mine, a temperature error during installation that shuts down the notebook very early in the installation. But no solutions yet. I'm hoping for some advice, links, etc. Thanks for your time. Problem compiling SooperLooper
Hi All, I'm trying to compile SooperLooper 1.6.10 on Ubuntu (Hardy) and I'm having some problem with jack. I'm getting lots of errors like: /sooperlooper-1.6.10/src/jack_audio_driver.cpp:329: undefined reference to `jack_port_get_buffer' Basically lots of 'undefined references' to jack things. I have jack and the libjack-dev package installed so I'm a bit stuck on what could be the problem. Any help is appreciated. Bom dia Estou precisando adquirir um novo computador pois estou começando a ter alguns problemas com algumas tarefas de análise estatística. O sistema que estou pensando deve ter algo com 8 Gb de RAM (DDR2 800 se possivel em dual) um processador de 64 bits [grandes blocos de dados precisando ser transportados] e um total de 4 núcleos num processador preferencialmente AMD [costuma a ter melhor performace para o meu uso] Surgem algumas duvidas, considerando o funcionamento do Ubuntu: 1- O que é melhor 2 pentes de 4Gb ou 4 pentes de 2Gb 2- O que é melhor 1 processador de 4 núcleos ou dois de 2 núcleos 3- Se for um processador de 4 núcleos alguem conhece um processador chamado: AMD Phenom X4 ele funciona bem com Ubuntu? 4- Se for 2 processadores com 2 núcleos é fácil achar placa mãe para isto, o Ubuntu sabe lidar com isto De todo o jeito ainda aceito outras dicas ... Meu maior problema é que estou trabalhando com bases de dados cada vez maiores por exemplo tem uma base com 700 arquivos e cerca de 3,6 Gb de dados que deve ser cruzado com uma outra de 8.400 arquivos coma algo em torno de 31 Gb. O objetivos deste cruzamento seria localizar associações entre os dados. Seguinte, Recentemente fiz besteira de digitar rm * em uma pasta de projetos minha, e enfim, vocês já sabem o que aconteceu. Usei ferramentas para recuperar, consegui resgatar algumas coisas mas algumas outras não, ainda corrompi outras coisas minhas ... Eu nunca costumo apagar minhas coisas por isso nunca parei para me preocupar muito com o rm. Então agora quero implementar uma idéia antiga minha: mudar o rm para algo que dê um mv para um local que quando ele reiniciar o computador, ele apague. [Ubuntu-BR] Problema com o Ubuntu 8.04 amd64 em HD SATA
Olá pessoal, estou com o seguinte problema. Estava em casa e depois de instalar o Ubuntu em uma máquina na faculdade pensei: vou sair dessa vida de Microsoft Windows. Vou instalar o somente o Ubuntu no meu PC. Instalei. Quando fui dá o boot “Error:… ” não encontra o sistema operacional na partição selecionada (isso é no GRUB). (agora a mensagem é Pressione uma tecla... (algo assim) e o PC reinicia. Eu encontrei alguma coisa falando que o kernel não estava encontrando HD SATA mas aqui eu consigo usar o LiveCD e instalar normalmente, mas quando vai dar boot que não inicializa o sistema. (Coloquei na linha do kernel no GRUB pci=nomsi e nada. O que eu faço para instalar o GNU/Linux Ubuntu 8.04 amd64 LTS Minha máquina é: 1 - Processador Athlon64 X2 5600+ (Dual Core) 2 - 2GiB de memória DDR2-800Mhz 3 - Placa Mãe Asus (não lembro o nome) 4 - Placa de Video ATI x1550 256MiB de Mémoria 5 - Monitor 22″ 6 - 1 HD IDE 80GB - Samsung 7 - 1 HD SATAII 160GB - Samsung (*) 8 - 1 HD SATAII 80GB - Samsung (*) Estou instalando nesse HD o sistema operacional, as partições ficaram: /dev/sdb1 - ext3 aprox. 40GB - Instalaçao do Ubuntu, ponto de montagem / /dev/sdb2 - ntfs aprox. 114BG - Dados (dados que estavam no Windows ) /dev/sdb3 - swap aprox 3GB O que fazer? João. 2008/8/29 PaulinhoLinux [EMAIL PROTECTED]: fala hamacker .. bl descobri a origem do problema antes de gerar a imagem com o remastersys ele apresentava uma mensagem qe eu normalmente não lia e só clicava ok, a mensagem trazia a seguinte informação, desmontar todas as unidades de rede, que estiverem montadas antes de continuar. então resolvi desmontar a partição qe está com o windows e vualá .. funcionou perfeitamente . testei tanto no vmware qto em um pc, tdo 100% funcional ! então a solução para qem passar pelo mesmo problema é, desmontar todas as unidades (mapeamento de rede, partição do windows, etc...) antes de continuar ! Tem casos que se voce enxer os 4GB a unidade nem boota, por isso eu recomendo que voce fique com uma imagem na casa dos 2,1G, nao tente aumentar mais do que isso senão vai gradativamente esgasgar no ponto em que voce parou e algumas unidades de DVDROM tem uma especie de timeout e depois dorme, só que não acorda mais. []'s 2008/8/22 PaulinhoLinux [EMAIL PROTECTED]: E aí galera bl estou tentando gerar uma mídia com todas as atualizações e tbem alguns programas que eu utilizo no Ubuntu 8.04. tenho um consideravel número de pcs e essa solução seria a ideal para que eu econimizasse tempo em instalações e consumo de banda de internet. O problema que estou é o seguinte, faço todo o procedimento de instalação de um novo pc, atualizo, instalo os programas (inclusive o remastersys), gero a imagem através do remastersys (seja em modo Backup, onde ele copia toda a home, seja no modo Dist que não copia a home), checo o checksum que sempre está perfeito, e gravo a mídia. Até aqui sem nenhum problema agora é qe vem a encrenca qdo vou instalar em outro pc ele boota perfeitamente, eu configuro as minhas caracteristicas como particonamento de hd, usuário e senha, nome do pc, etc ... e a instalação é iniciada, só que em aproximadamente 87% o cd simplesmente para de ser lido e a instalação não continua, simplesmente para. O PC não trava, a instalação para. Já testei em diversos pcs, inclusive em pcs novos. Para descartar a possibilidade de ser um problema de compatibilidade do Ubuntu 8.04 com o PC, instalei através do modo tradicional o ubuntu, atualizações e programas e nenhum problema foi detectado ! Alguém já passou por uma situação assim? Segui vários tutoriais, todos são bem parecidos, até mesmo porque o remastersys não tem mistérios, é super simples de ser utilizado !!! Qual o possivel erro? Talvez não ajude muito, mas tenho uma configuração de discos semelhante. Instalei o XP no HD IDE e o Ubuntu no SATA II jumpeado para SATA I. Todos os drives são montados sem problemas e o GRUB gerencia todo o boot. Fala Bernardo blzzz cara seguinte vc disse qe seu sistema funciona melhor com os processadores da família amd certo, ok ... mas é o seguinte .. eu sou AMD Maníaco, mas tenho qe se realista, os processadores da Intel estão dando um show de processamento, os core2duo e os core2quad estão voando baixo, então se vc está pensando em grande processamento aconselho (e muito) a aquisição de um Intel. É muito difícil dizer isso mas eu possuo hj um amd porqe comprei ele a um preço muito baixo, senão não teria. Tem casos que se voce enxer os 4GB a unidade nem boota, por isso eu recomendo que voce fique com uma imagem na casa dos 2,1G, nao tente aumentar mais do que isso senão vai gradativamente esgasgar no ponto em que voce parou e algumas unidades de DVDROM tem uma especie de timeout e depois dorme, só que não acorda mais. Creio que toda vez que o sistema é desligado. Faça um teste aí para ver.. Em termos de robustez, 4 pentes de 2Gb são melhores, porque pode dar problema em um deles e você ainda teria os outros 2- O que é melhor 1 processador de 4 núcleos ou dois de 2 núcleos Aí depende do software que você utiliza. O Linux já está otimizado para usar múltiplos processadores, mas o sistema não vai realizar o processamento que você deseja, quem vai fazer isso é o programa de aplicação, logo, a resposta é depende: se o seu programa suporte multicore, as instruções otimizadas para a arquitetura escolhida e processamento paralelo tudo bem. Se o seu programa foi desenvolvido pensando-se em uma arquitetura de núcleo único, por mais que o agendamento do Linux possa ajudar o desempenho não será tão mais superior que em um processador de núcleo único. 3- Se for um processador de 4 núcleos alguem conhece um processador chamado: AMD Phenom X4 ele funciona bem com Ubuntu? Não, mas a matéria que o Paulinho te passou do clube do hardware, assinado pelo Gabriel Torres, podes confiar. 4- Se for 2 processadores com 2 núcleos é fácil achar placa mãe para isto, o Ubuntu sabe lidar com isto Também não saberia te dizer. De todo o jeito ainda aceito outras dicas ... Meu maior problema é que estou trabalhando com bases de dados cada vez maiores por exemplo tem uma base com 700 arquivos e cerca de 3,6 Gb de dados que deve ser cruzado com uma outra de 8.400 arquivos coma algo em torno de 31 Gb. O objetivos deste cruzamento seria localizar associações entre os dados. Olha só, dependendo do tipo de processamento que será executado, por exemplo, você trabalhará com muitos pontos flutuantes ou se a massa de dados é de inteiros, de repente podes pensar em outras arquiteturas, que são otimizadas para ponto flutuante ou inteiro. Também a velocidade do processamento não será função única do processador e da memória RAM, mas principalmente do disco (considerando a quantidade de dados que você está trabalhando você usará muito disco). Pense em uma arquitetura de storage com redundância e paralelismo (esqueci agora qual é o RAID, mas é aquele em que você tem um conjunto (array) de HD's e os bits do stream de disco são gravados em paralelo nos discos, aumentando e muito a velocidade de acesso. Outra coisa, escolhe uma controladora com bastante cache (diminui o uso de RAM para isso) e coloca o sistema num sistema de nobreak para não ter perda de dados em caso de falha da energia. Ah! já ia esquecendo, usa ReiserFS, que é melhor para arquivos grandes e mais robusto. A primeira é criar um alias no ~/.bashrc com o coteúdo: alias rm='rm -i' - desta forma ele vai perguntar se você deseja mesmo excluir o conteúdo. A segunda é fazer o que todo mundo com juizo faz e programar backups periódicos dos arquivos importantes do seu home. Fábio, eu tenho backups sim, mas eu perdi o trabalho de uma semana, e nessa semana em especial eu fiz muita coisa, o que foi o pior. Na verdade fico surpreso pelo fato de o ubuntu não adotar o rm -i como padrão, acho que seria bem mais interessante. De qualquer forma a idéia que eu tive sobre o mv era para ser algo diferente. Na verdade é só para te dar um tempo, geralmente quando você deleta algo importante, logo depois que você termina o rm, você percebe a besteira que fez instantaneamente ou mesmo segundos depois. Talvez um intervalo de 1 ou 2 minutos poderia fazer toda a diferença nesses casos infelizes e não sei se iria atrapalhar tanto, para maioria dos usuários, esse delayzinho entre o comando e a deleção real. Что показывает ifconfig? Так как слово address написано с ошибкой, может быть, ip 10.0.0.1 просто не назначается адаптеру? Действительно была ошибка в слове, но я пытался поднять и вручную ifconfig eth1 10.0.0.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 up Но ping до 10.0.0.2 так и не работал :-( В данный момент ifconfig не могу предоставить (нет доступа к машине). Помню, что ifconfig показывал (поле того как я выполнял поднятия интерфейса вручную) два устройства eth0 и eth1 Завтра поеду туда, разбираться. Получается что iptables и route тут не причём? wwan evdo cdma modem PEOPLENET УРА!
Привет всем! Итак, у меня wwan модуль, купленный с eBay заработал. Модуль: Dell wireless 5270 (PCI express), - rebrand of Novatel E725 SPRINT. Я в CDMA не шарю, но как оказалось, все модули в штатах залочены под оператора (в данном случае SPRINT), и слот для сим-карты, который в моем Dell D430 не нужен для этого модуля. У себя в городе (Одесса) я нашел паренька, который мне разлочил этот модуль и зашил под Украинский PeopleNET (в том числе логин и пароль). Сим-карта не нужна. Теперь с помощью модуля ядра usbserial мы подключаем модем в /dev/ttyUSB0 Ну а далее - wvdial :) Скорость отличная, все работает. Только вот одна особенность. Если настроить KPPP - после команды CONNECT система виснет намертво, и не помогает ничего, кроме рибута. Wvdial - подключается, но если отконнектиться (CTRL+C) и заново приконнектиться - модем будет выдавать какую-то лабуду и в итоге Modem not responding. Рибут лечит. Excellent, I was able to reproduce the problem with those directions. Naming a folder testshare in my home directory, then making a file named test.txt (with quotes), then sharing the folder and viewing it under smb://hostname/testshare showed the file as _W10J7~L.TXT instead. Bonjour à tous! La communauté ubuntu m'avait prévenu l'autre jour que quelqu'un avait éssayé d'entrer dans mon hardy durant une chat qui normalement est fiable. Je la connais depuis 1999, jamis de problèmes. Maintenant j'ai trouvé qui éssaye par tous les moyens de saboter tous ceux qui ont Linux. Un anti-Linux maladif, quoi! Il se fait appeler Cybercow et il entre dans la chat vers 2-3 heures de la nuit. les opérateurs sont amoureux (MiadnightInLoVe et Baby85InLoVe) passent leur temps en pvt ou chez Texasholdem, donc en jouant au Poker, ce qui fait qu'ils en ont rien à branler des autres. Résultat: Je ne peux plus entrer en chat depuis que Cybercow m'a banné. Dommage, j'aimerais voir son IP pour procéder à un dénonciation à leur patron, pour commencer, qui est responsable de ses opérateurs. Maintenant il faut que je vois si'il m'a foutu Java6 ou s'il a manipulé la chat, ce qui signifierait que lui connaît mon IP puisqu'il est copain des ops. Donc la communauté ubuntu a assez d'expérience dans ce domaine puisqu'elle a remarqué qu'on m'attaquait. Merci aux personne en question et... bon travail. If I boot without CD in tray and insert CD for playback, the problem appears to die after a while if I remember right. Steps to reproduce: 1) Create a folder on a local ext3 filesystem. 2) Share the folder using nautilus. 3) Create a new file in the folder, and insert a quotation mark into its name. 4) Find your shared folder through Places-Network. The displayed filename is incorrect.
