[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 948053] Re: nvidia-96 and nvidia-173 uninstallable on Precise
@Bib: The 100.14.23 driver is an old version from October 2007 and is not fitting your hardware. As you can see from ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/100.14.23/README/appendix-a.html it supports GeForce 6*, GeForce 7*, GeForce 8* and Geforce FX cards, but not the GeForce2 and Geforce4. @all: Why isn't there a task for nvidia-graphics-drivers-96 ? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-173 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/948053 Title: nvidia-96 and nvidia-173 uninstallable on Precise To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nvidia-drivers-ubuntu/+bug/948053/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 985202] Re: libx11 causes kwin to crash on login (over NX protocol)
This bug also affects the Trinity Desktop Environment. I suspect that all XRandR-aware programs will crash if active when an XRandR change event is received and processed via XRRUpdateConfiguration() on certain Xorg drivers. For the record, downgrading xlibs and associated packages to their respective Oneiric versions did resolve the problem for now. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to libx11 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/985202 Title: libx11 causes kwin to crash on login (over NX protocol) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libx11/+bug/985202/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 957298] Re: Mouse is very slow after starting a session on Precise
I tried adding the lines in #2 to a xorg.conf file but it didn't seem to help for my ThinkPad X200. The mouse is barely usable and I see high cpu usage for kworker in top. It happens every time I use my laptop, but usually not for the first few minutes, so if there is a good way to debug kworker issues I could probably help track down the problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/957298 Title: Mouse is very slow after starting a session on Precise To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/957298/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 973096] Re: Nvidia driver causes xorg crash
I would like to be added as a subscriber to this bug. This finally lists people with the same type crashes/logouts I have been getting ever since I installed 12.04-x86_amd64. I also receive the same error messages. I can watch videos in 2d mode without problems-when I switch to 3d I start getting random restarts. I have tried Nvidia drivers 295.40, 295.49, 295.53, 302.07, finally 302.11. @reason just to let yu know the 30*.** drivers are in the repos. (ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa). Just last night I upgraded to Ubuntu mainstream kernel v. 3.4. No problems-with the difference that now I can watch a video for 30-45 minutes without crashing instead of 2-5 mins. Instead of reverting to the version 290.** some of you did I'm just going to stay with 2d until this gets fixed. CPU: Intel I5-750 Mobo: Asus P7P55D-E Ram: 'ripjaws' 1600***8gb. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1003768] Re: NVIDIA driver version 295.53 incompatible with NVS 5100M chip
** Tags added: apport-collected needs-reassignment possible-manual- nvidia-install regression-update ubuntu ** Description changed: I upgraded from Lucid to Precise and experienced display corruption. Text and widgets were displaying inconsistently on the screen, and tended to disappear or re-appear as I moved the mouse over them, making it nearly impossible to login with either ligthdm or gdm. More importantly, the desktop environment was unusable. In Lucid I was using the Ubuntu-packaged proprietary Nvidia drivers. I'm using an HP EliteBook 8540p with the Nvidia NVS 5100M chip and was using nvidia- common 1:0.2.44 and nvidia-current 295.40-0ubuntu1. I tried nvidia- current-updates and nvidia-current from ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates with no success. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1003768] [NEW] NVIDIA driver version 295.53 incompatible with NVS 5100M chip
Public bug reported: I upgraded from Lucid to Precise and experienced display corruption. Trust me, installing fglrx also causes crash and that too frequently. Seeing so I installed open-source Radeon driver. The problem is something else. I don't have much knowledge otherwise I could debug more. You need to see this http://askubuntu.com/questions/106499/flash-player-crashes-with-firefox-chrome-chromium But in my case, the whole system crashes and restarts which is quite bad. Referring to other forums, gives in-depth information , may be more helpful to you. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=7506398 Because of this issue, I could not install Ubuntu 10.10,11.04,11,10 and NOW 12.04. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 991399] Re: laptop touchpad vertical scrolling doesn't work in abiword
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Xubuntu 12.04 Abiword 2.9.2 (default build in Xubuntu 12.04) Acer Aspire 7736Z-4088 laptop with ALPS touchpad integrated scrollbar on the laptop works normally in other aspects of Xubuntu, such as Thunar, other apps such as Thunderbird, Firefox, LibreOffice Writer, etc. Only in Abiword does the scrollbar not work. If I open a document in Abiword that is scrollable, the integrated scrollbar on the right edge of the touchpad does not work in Abiword. I can scroll by holding down the down arrow key or by clicking and holding the scrollbar within the Abiword GUI. Opening the same document in LibreOffice Writer lets me scroll normally with the touchpad scrollbar. Behavior appears to be limited only to Abiword. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 991399] Re: laptop touchpad vertical scrolling doesn't work in abiword
Christopher, I provided debugging info, but don't think there is any issue with the Touchpad, so have not yet provided info on your second request (debugging touchpad detection). I have since come across other bug reports on this same problem that indicate the problem is with an unstable version of Abiword being used in 12.04. The problem is specific to Abiword, and moreso, specific to the version of Abiword that is in the 12.04 repositories. Scrolling (whether by touchpad or mouse wheel) does not work at all in this version of Abiword. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 973096] Re: Nvidia driver causes xorg crash
I'm another user affected by this with an 8800GT that has been rock solid stable in prior Ubuntu releases. I'm running the gnome shell fallback mode. The current, current-updates and x-swat repository versions all resulted in random crashes back to the login screen. I've tried using the noveau driver instead but it increasingly loses its marbles over time. After about 8 hours of uptime it starts flickering random bits of random windows in random places on the screen, and gets progressively worse. It also hangs the X server inputs for a few seconds while doing this. Consequently neither binary nor noveau driver provide a usable desktop. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/973096 Title: Nvidia driver causes xorg crash To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/973096/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 945441]
Hi! I believe this was fixed by the following commit, which is already part of the Mesa 8.0.3 release: commit 93e94cbb48a679b7bf67594adb6f858526b37935 Author: Eric Anholt Date: Fri Feb 10 12:54:25 2012 -0800 intel: Fix rendering from textures after RenderTexture(). There's a serious trap for drivers: RenderTexture() does not indicate that the texture is currently bound to the draw buffer, despite FinishRenderTexture() signaling that the texture is just now being unbound from the draw buffer. We were acting as if RenderTexture() *was* the start of rendering and that we could make texturing incoherent with the current contents of the renderbuffer. This caused intel oglconform sRGB Mipmap.1D_textures to fail, because we got a call to TexImage() and thus RenderTexture() on a texture bound to a framebuffer that wasn't the draw buffer, so we skipped validating the new image into the texture object used for rendering. We can't (easily) make RenderTexture() indicate the start of drawing, because both our driver and gallium are using it as the moment to set up the renderbuffer wrapper used for things like MapRenderbuffer(). Instead, postpone the setup of the workaround render target miptree until update_renderbuffer time, so that we no longer need to skip validation of miptrees used as render targets. As a bonus, this should make GL_NV_texture_barrier possible. (This also fixes a regression in the gen4 small-mipmap rendering since 3b38b33c1648b07e75dc4d8340758171e109c598, which switched set_draw_offset from image->mt to irb->mt but didn't move the irb->mt replacement up before set_draw_offset). Bugzilla: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44961 NOTE: This is a candidate for the 8.0 branch. I tested it on a GM965, and it seems to be working for me. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 991399] [NEW] laptop touchpad vertical scrolling doesn't work in abiword
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Xubuntu 12.04 Abiword 2.9.2 (default build in Xubuntu 12.04) Acer Aspire 7736Z-4088 laptop with ALPS touchpad integrated scrollbar on the laptop works normally in other aspects of Xubuntu, such as Thunar, other apps such as Thunderbird, Firefox, LibreOffice Writer, etc. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 973096] Re: Nvidia driver causes xorg crash
@jfleach No, this is not the same issue, the X-server crash results in a lost session setting you back to the login screen. The 30x.xx driver series has nothing to do with this bug, it's not even in the repository. @pelleke I do have more machines running different kinds of nVidia hardware, I did not encounter this issue with any other of them, but then again I haven't used them for more than maximum 1 hour at a time either, so can't confirm there not affected. I'm using a Quadro FX 3800M on the affected machine (G92 Core) and it's my daily workstation, I have another machine equipped with a 8800GTS 512 which has the same core, but still hasn't crashed, but again it isn't used a lot. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/973096 Title: Nvidia driver causes xorg crash To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/973096/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 555169] Re: [lucid] Keyboard and mouse freeze after grub, usb and PS/2 keyboard not working in X (after upgrade? bad-upgrade to lucid)
Hi! I had the same problem: After doing a full upgrade from Jaunty keyboard and mouse were disabled under X. I could ssh to the machine and after shutting down gdm I got back to the terminal where the keyboard was working well. After reading through the comments, I checked the Device entries in xorg.conf It turned out that udev has some different naming scheme and the old device paths were invalid. So for example: instead of: Option "Device" "/dev/input/mouse" I had to write Option "Device" "/dev/input/by-path/platform-i8042-serio-3-mouse" and do the same for the keyboard as well. After this change the system is back on track! [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1003333] Re: Ubuntu snowcrashes frequently but with no obvious cause
Plug it in to the network via ethernet, repeat the crash, then ssh in and gather logs. Like you say, none of the logs on this bug report reveal anything pertinent. If you've already tried it via ethernet and ssh doesn't respond, then unfortunately it's probably something deeper down than the display logic. You can check if it's hardware failure by booting liveusb images of previous ubuntu releases; if you get this crash there too then your hardware may simply be borked. If booting those does work, then a kernel bisection search would likely be your remaining avenue of exploration. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/100 Title: Ubuntu snowcrashes frequently but with no obvious cause To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/100/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 973096] Re: Nvidia driver causes xorg crash
I am sorry about the issues you are having, but please, let's be consistent on what issue we are talking about in this particular thread. There are multiple possible reasons for X to crash, and it strikes me that you clearly refer to another issue than the one described here. I was having this issue (reported one of the duplicates), my X crashed approximately every 20 minutes. After having switched to nouveau (the open source driver), my box ran fine for two weeks without a single crash. This particular issue seems to be related to my specific video card, I have colleagues running the nvidia-current on other cards just fine. > ... why you guys started make 12.10 when you don't have finished 12.04! Same here on Fedora 16. Same symptoms. Using glslideshow it crashes about once per day. Putting in gnome-screensaver is the workaround. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 188342] Re: keymap fr/oss: numpad '.' mapped to period instead of KP_Decimal
On Ubuntu 12.04(x64) with french keyboard : By défault the Delete key (.,) of keypad is interpreted like "point" (.). Is uncomfortable when use mathematical application like LibreOffice Calc. For change, to haveDelete key (.,) of keypad is interpreted like decimal séparator. You need to change keyboard options like this: System Parameter (ubuntu) \ Keyboard \ layout parameter 1) => Layout keypad "Obsolete" => Behavior of the "Del" key: "Default" 2) LibreOfffice Calc: Decimal separator key: Same as the language setting checked (,) The name of "Obsolète"is inappropriate ! You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xkeyboard-config in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/188342 Title: keymap fr/oss: numpad '.' mapped to period instead of KP_Decimal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xkeyboard-config/+bug/188342/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Same bug here for my GeForce4 Ti 4200 Go AGP 8x laptop requiring nvidia-96.
