Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] 'Official' docker container for LMS?
Hi bpbiszkopt I'm sorry that I didn't know about Local Player 3rd party plugin, now that I reread your questions (on previous page) I see you mention Local Player at the beginning. BTW, I just wish to mention that the proposed Squeezelite-X solution is now being worked on in a Linxu version. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] 'Official' docker container for LMS?
Hi bpbiszkopt LMS is a server. You need a client (a music player). LMS does not play music, it just collects music, and manages its stock and access, and distributes them to the actual music players (the renderers). The client receives the music from LMS and sends it wherever you want to, e.g. to the USB port on your PC (if the USB port is identified as a sound device). Since Squeezelite-X isn't supported in Ubuntu, I don't know what other software you can use, sorry I'm not that well versed in Linux systems. Would you be able to use e.g. VLC? I don't know. Hopefully someone can help you how to set it up. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] 'Official' docker container for LMS?
Hi bpbiszkopt Presumably, when running LMS in a Docker container, you have it installed on a NAS (e.g. Synology, QNAP) Are you trying to run LMS on a PC and stream music directly from LMS to a USB port on the PC? Not sure what EDO Player is, but I know that the Squeezebox Touch can be installed with EDO kernel extension for 192 kHz support on the USB port. If you are using a piCorePlayer, then: Select [Squeezelite Settings] > Audio output device settings > USB audio. Click [Save]. This will set Audio output device settings to USB audio and set Change Squeezelite settings to default values. See more here (Topping E30 is just an example): https://docs.picoreplayer.org/projects/add-topping-e30-usb-dac/ Kind regards, Claus cfuttrup's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32784 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111828 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Power to the piCorePlayer
Thank you all of you. Highly appreciated feedback. I found Semtech EZ1585 should work for reaching 5 Volt out, but yeah, I have no idea about electronics and more modifications will probably be required. I'll try to find the old papers with the circuit diagram, etc. Only god knows where they are. The PSU was purchased in 2009. Knowing me, the papers are somewhere, I didn't throw any of it away... I also looked at Mouser and found Texas Instruments LM1084 (which could work with input voltage up to 25 Volt), but I'm dangerous around electronics since I don't know if these regulators (or whatever they are) are compatible. Strebor56, you're probaly right. I'm just trying to use something I already have, and the target is to be able to feed more than the standard 3 Ampere into an USB-port. How about 4.8 Ampere like the EZ1585 can deliver (= 24 Watt). I'm considering to feed it to the GPIO pins directly and bypass the USB chipset on the Pi. If 24 Watt doesn't make my Raspberry Pi happy, then nothing will. cfuttrup's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32784 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113258 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

The regulator is a Simtech Corp. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Power to the piCorePlayer
I hope to wake-up this old thread and find someone who can guide me a bit. The Raspberry Pi I have seems to be near its last days of living. Maybe a bit early to conclude, but I get the yellow lightning bolt, and the device reboots every now and then, seemlingly more and more often and I can't seem to feed it enough power. I'm about ready to try a solid piece of linear power supply. In fact I already have one, but it's made for the Squeezebox Duet and with about 9 Volt of output. Is there a kind soul in this forum, who has a bit of electronics skill and who could help me exchange the transformer to convert it to 5 Volt output? Here's a picture of the power supply (with 47.000 uF capacitors): https://www.cfuttrup.com/duet/WLabs_PCB_small.jpg And for completeness here's the HTML page about the PSU: https://www.cfuttrup.com/streamingaudio.html#hardwareupgrade >From the picture I gather this is a 229C16 transformer, and it looks like it can be connected either to 115 Volt or 230 Volt depending on how it's mounted on the PCB, and that each give about 8 Volt output. I have no idea how this becomes 9 Volt. I don't know much about this, but presumably the C16 means it's a C-core (?) and 16 = 2 * 8 Volt, and for an equivalent 5 Volt output, I should look for something called 229C9 ... ? I conclude that something went amis during my in-situ upgrade to piCorePlayer 7.0.0 P.S. My old trouble with the yellow lightning bolt is not resovled. [SlimDevices: Unix] Power to the piCorePlayer
Hi there I have a setup with Raspberry Pi3+, mounted with the ApplePi DAC (no longer available). My problem is that I have a yellow lightning-bolt, and during boot process I get a 'under-voltage' error. Wifi and Bluetooth + HDMI is disabled to reduce the power requirement, and I'm using standard settings (not overclocking, almost rather the opposite). I know the ApplePi requires quite some juice. Therefore it is default delivered with a powerful 5.25 Volt and 3 Ampere PSU. Like this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HB44IE6/ I think my problem is the cable. It cannot be replaced on this particular PSU. Does anyone know of another one which can deliver about 16 Watt? Ideally one where I can decide what USB cable I use (replaceable), and I'd like one with 20 AWG wire inside for the power-line. Like this one: https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Original-G4-G3-G2-High-20-AWG-Charger-Retail/dp/B01KI4LYFM/ ... Unfortunately this reseller doesn't ship to Norway or Denmark. P.S. I did a thermal image on the DAC-board and the temperature is 43 deg Celsius ... the developer and I agree, that's low, and there's nothing on the board that is near dead and causing unusual power draw. I really think it's that darn cable, or maybe just the connector - maybe some contact cleaner could solve the problem. Anyone else have such problems, and how did you solve it? Any comment is highly appreciated. Thanks. Hi paul Not sure what was wrong in my setup. Today I decided to play some YouTube video and the PC automatically connected to piCorePlayer, and I noticed that the volume on the PC was muted. I swear that wasn't the case before, I checked several times and turned the volume up/down, but today it was muted. It might have been that something around volume control didn't work ... (?) I enjoy very much that piCorePlayer switches seamlessly between sources. I'm very happy that I can watch e.g. Physics Lectures by Walter Lewin on my PC and have the sound go through my stereo (instead of the bad sound from a PC). P.S. I also noticed that I can turn the PC-volume up/down and it doesn't change the output at all. It seems as if the Bluetooth driver always transmits the full signal at full digital level, which I guess is good, and I just have to adjust the volume on my amplifier. The only thing that can be changed with the PC volume control is muting the signal entirely. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer 6.x.x - Bluetooth
This was my second attempt at getting this bluetooth up and running. I updated the installation (bluez was the only one that updated, everything else was OK). I had one bump on the road, maybe if you're savvy, then you know, but I didn't. The bump was that you must turn WiFi on to use Bluetooth. Turning Bluetooth on but keeping Wifi off will not work, at least not on my Pi. I kept getting the message "No default controller available" ... and I couldn't turn on the BT Controller. P.S. I'm using the "Player" side such that I stream sound from my laptop or phone to the piCorePlayer and the sound comes through my stereo. Yesterday I was impressed how apparently the source could automatically switch from one to another (between LMS, phone and computer). Today when I was playing music (through LMS on my NAS), the playlist ended and I noticed my laptop was already connected, but when playing a YouTube video, no sound. All volume controls were up, on the piCorePlayer (obviously), on my amplifier (obviously), on the PC, in the LMS (although irrelevant) and in the YouTube window. I could see that the laptop was connected and piCorePlayer was the "Player" as it should be. I have no idea where the volume went. /Claus cfuttrup's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32784 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111972 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Jivelite for piCorePlayer
Today Jivelite froze this morning at 4:45 - as it sometimes does (at different times). I did as usual, I unplug at the wall, reboot. This time piCorePlayer gave me the following message (same as in #1003 in this thread a few pages back): Starting Jivelite...There is a problem with the Jivelite installation. Please remove and reinstall Jivelite. I didn't do this, I just rebooted piCorePlayer from the web-interface and Jivelite came back up. I wonder if anyone has found the root cause of this problem? (first problem being that it freezes from time to time, but second problem that it wouldn't start) ... is it just that I've used an old SD-card (that I've found in a drawer) and it's either just a slow one, or maybe near end-of-life? Hi Carsten I hope you get a proper esponse from a developer. This is just my 10 cents, as a user. I think that your chance of other file system support in piCorePlayer is close to zero because piCorePlayer is meant to be a minimal system. piCore is based on Tiny Core and you might be able to implement HFS+ support if you do the legwork yourself: http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.php?topic=12621.0 Other option is to have your Macbook support the piCorePlayer file format (EXT4 ?). Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer: security
OK, eh, I chose the iptables.tcz package (from piCore repository - it's the default), but it seems piCorePlayer downloads the wrong package (!?). I get: Downloading: ipv6-4.14.81-pcpCore_v7.tcz Error on ipv6-4.14.81-pcpCore_v7.tcz ... but that's not iptables, that's the package next in the table of packages ( :-) ). I wonder why the wrong package is downloaded. Anyway, ipv6 is 311 kb, whereas iptables is 307 kb. I first expanded the SD card to 100 Mb, leaving 51 Mb free, then to 200 Mb (it's a 1 GB card). Free space is now 142 Mb. It's impossible that I'm short of space. It seems the files are downloaded to another partition, and this partition is too small, maybe a RAM disk partition (?).
